Onix
I'm a High School Sophmore (or will be this Fall) from Shoreline, WA. I read, write, but hate math. I love video games, movies, the internet, and just about everything that doesn't involve physical exertion (I'm a lazy bum, yes). Dan L
I've been to Stoke-On-Trent, it's better than Manchester... -.-[/SIZE']
I'm from Stoke on Trent, too (matter o' fact, I'm Rei_Man's brother). And I doubt that very much :p
Stoke-on-Trent... what a funny name. Sorry to hear about the extreme crappiness. Where r u thinking of going for post-secondary, Rei_Man?
Stoke means "holy meeting place". Historically, anywhere called "Stoke" in the UK used to be a place where Celtic monks gathered to worship. The "Trent" part refers to the river Trent which runs through the city, so "Stoke on Trent" means "Holy meeting place near the river Trent". Stoke on Trent itself is a city, but it is a rather unusual one in that it literally became a city overnight. Before that, there were 6 towns; Stoke, Hanley, Trentham, Fenton, Burslem, and Longton. In the early part of the 20th Century they decided to all come together under the city name of "Stoke on Trent", and overnight became one of the 10 largest cities in the UK. There was (and still is) a lot of rivalry between the towns. For instance, Stoke is the "main" town, in that the city took it's name. But Hanley is where everything really happens in Stoke on Trent, whether the people in Stoke like to accept it or not (Can't you tell I was a Hanley boy :p) There are about 50 odd Stokes in the UK, but Stoke On Trent is the only one that made it into such a large city. The other notable thing about Stoke is that is also known as "The Potteries" as it had a thriving Pottery industry. The most famous pottery to come from Stoke is Wedgewood- The Wedgewood factory itself is in Uttoxeter (near Longton), but also Coalport, Spode, Daulton and a few others. However, despite our great history, we are really quite a crappy city right now. Praise the Lord for Sheffield! (Where I'm living right now) So that's where I'm from. As for what I do, I work in a warehouse 3 days a week, do voluntary work in a school 2 days a week, and I'm looking for school jobs to start in september. Pawn114
I'm a student, just entering high school, with no set future... I change my mind on issues every 5 minutes.... there goes prime minister  . Seriously, I have no clue. Everybody and their dog wants to be a game designer, so whereas the stock of them is going up, I've consistently heard that the company's arent going quite as quick, so thats out (that and has anyone played with 'blender 3d before'? jeesh!). I'm gonna study midwifery and become a full fledge baby catcher only problem is I'm not a really fan of them and I can stand needle so I think I will be focusing pre-natal. Roxie Faye
I'm from New Jersey, USA, just 30-40 min outside NYC. Yeah, that close. My town's alright. It's really... I dunno. It's one of those towns where someone's great grandma lived, and everyone in the family after that, and the old teacher in the schools will know the family ofa student, because they taught them all. Yeah, one of those places. We have a bunch of historical places, too, like this house that George Washington stayed in, for one night, and so everybody thinks it's amazing. I think it's cool because I've heard there's ghosts in it. :whoops: I'm 15 and going to be a Sophomore in the fall. I play the piano and the flute (though I'm better at the piano), and I used to horseback ride. I agree - my instructor was very bitchy about the way I would ride. Meh. I still like horseback riding, but not the instructor. I like to read, write stories, go online, and kill time any way I can. I have absolutely no idea what I'm going to do with my future, and it's freaking me out. However, I do know I want a college education, and I'm looking at/I want to apply to colleges/universities like: Harvard, Wellesley, Radcliffe, Dartmouth, and Yale. Well, that's all, folks! =)

Ezekiel
Okay, time for me to join this thread! I'm from Liverpool, UK! And don?t any of you make jokes about me stealing your internet connection or something...you see...I knew what you were thinking! Okay, for those of you who totally don?t get that and think I'm a weirdo it's a big joke that us Scousers are all thieves and will rob you of your hubcaps without a second glance...but actually, that's only half true....we would rather take the whole car. MOVING ON! I was born in South Africa to two English parents, moved to Thailand where I started school at 3 and a half and then came back to South Africa. 18 months later we moved to England and then 2 years later came back to South Africa where I?ve lived most of my life but I still managed to keep my posh British accent. We finally came back 'home' to Liverpool, where my mum is from, 2 years ago and now I'm here. I now live on the OB and on MSN. Outside of the adventure arena I'm a medium height, green eyed, blond haired 15 year old girl who longs for a mobile phone and her recent exam results. I draw (a lot, just ask ULX), play the keyboard/piano and I watch anime. Oh yeah! I love murder mysteries and reading Steven King too....um...I think that's all.....
Engel
Well, I was born in a small town in Indiana, near Fort Wayne. Got good grades and stuff, before moving to FT.Wayne... but it was OK because all of my friends were there anyway. I don't have much of a story, but I like all rock besides Metal, my favorite is Linkin Park, my favorite food is Ramen Noodles or rice (With cheeze and soy sauce!) I love video games and reading. I make money by mowing lawns and shoveling sidewalks in the winter. I also babysit. I just feel a job at Mcdonalds or Burger King would be embarrasing.

I don't really like people making fun of other countries, and one lad told me this joke: "Why does the river Mersey run through Liverpool? So it doesn't get mugged!" Then he regretted it because I punched him in the eye. He was a boy on my street who doesn't like me now. I don't like people joking about other cities and crap, but you have to admit sometimes its funny. Hey, you should all feel sorry for us, we used to have David on our football team... (I hate David Beckham, I just do) And we also have to put up with buses being late... Yeah.... the only time we here Manchester folk pray is in the morning, we pray that the bus isn't late. You can hear people mumbling at the bus stop when you walk past. And we have to put up with all the jokes... some of the worst, funniest, greatest jokes all came from the old Netto song (Let's all go to Netto, where -someone- buys their best clothes, they think their kinda nifty, they're only one pound fifty, and you seriously don't want to know the other jokes... unless you do... ask me >.<) I play the Guitar.
Shi no Tenshi
That is kinda' interesting actually... especially if you've been in Canada for awhile. Visual artist? I would have to guess as much from your Signature and avatar. What area of computers are you studying? Balmon
Rubbishy ones, we have to jump certain 'hoops'. Feasability studies involving spreadsheets and databases so far, but I've taught myself to web design (HTML, CSS, bits o' Javascript) and I've taught myself how to make graphics. As for art - I'm a variety of things. I prefer still life (I draw dead birds and strange and burnt objects... and I am encouraged by my art teacher ~ ehh) in watercolour and ink and I am partial to photo manipulation (I stuck a nude model inside a bottle - that sort of thing). Soon enough I'll be doing a specialist course in web design and graphics so that oughta be fun :]
Japan
I currently live in Spokane, Washington. I used to live in England...four years ago. I lived there for three years.I've been to Stoke on Trent. Nice place. I miss being able to go to London or Germany every other weekand. Anyways, starting this September, I'll be in my Senior year in high school. I am an artist, making things out of clay, wood, and drawing things on paper. I am teaching myself to play guitar, and I listen to a lot of music. I also spend a lot of time on the computer. I also love to read and play video games. I also love to dance as well. (Hip Hop mostly) I also like to write non stop. heh Vicky, I hate people that joke about other people from different countries. I have German friends, and French friends....I even have Romanian and British friends in real life. People here joke about how some of those people are not hygenic at all, which is not true. Also, that all French and Germans stink and are bull headed. That may be true about some of them...but not all. Those jokes make me get really angry as well.
Balmon
And we don't want to make anyone angry here... so we won't make jokes. Promise. SephirothX - Much agreement about the Ramen noodles - but rice with CHEESE and soya sauce? That sounds alien. There seems to also be a lot of artists and people in creative fields here. This is absolutely fascinating - I'm so glad I started this thread! IMI - For the Stephen King fan in you, have you read any of you short stories/novels? They're absolutely FANTASTIC reads. ChibiHorsewoman
I can play the Kazoo and the tamborine! I used to play the flute when I was younger, but I gave it up to take horse back riding. The only songs I can play on the piano are chopsticks and Hot Cross Buns. And Lincoln was teaching me to play the bass, but then he got sent to Iraq. The town I live in is called Gates named after General Horatio Gates from the American Revolution. Now you'd think with a town name like that the school team name would be something like the Patriots or the Minute Men. you know, something hokey and crap like that. but instead the school team is the Spartans. I guess it's so the teams in Greece won't feel left out. The next town over from the west is called Chili, but it's not pronounced like the food it's pronounced how it's spelled. But people who aren't from around here pronounce it like the food so now they have the Chili fest which is pronounced like the food. Then to confuse people even more we have a town called Charlotte, only we don't pronounce it like the city in the Carolinas we call it Shar lot. Why? Because we're a bunch of evil New Yorkers. Where I lived in Texas was pretty interesting too. I guess. The base Ft. Hood and the county, Bell. Were both named after the same Civil War General but I can't rememeber his first name. I just remember during the war he lost both his legs then died. Obviously since it's a southern base he fought for the confederacy. So does anyone else have strange stuff about their towns and cities?

Other things I didn't say; I can play the guitar too, though at the moment I only play chords really. I did art at GCSE level, but dropped it after some issues with my art teacher. Semjaza
I live in Chicago. I like to play videogames, play and listen to music, read comics, design websites, watch The Simpsons and have sex. That about covers my interests. In terms of goals, I only really have two. I'd like to own a music store... and I'd also like to do "nothing" like Peter Gibbons in Office Space. I guess that contradicts my store ownership goal, but what the hell. I would have liked to work with animals (as in a zoo, not a vet), but that won't happen. I'm stuck working with computers for god knows how long. I don't even really like them anymore and I cannot imagine doing this crap for the rest of my life. And since food was mentioned... Potstickers, deep dish pizza, cheesecake and Thai food are the best dishes ever. The best natural food is far and away portabella mushrooms. Orgasmic.
