Hevn
I've been here on OB for a month and have fallen deeply in love with it. The people, the anime, the RPGs, arts and literature... they're are all great! Unfortunately, I haven't been around to see the previous stuffs you guys have been doing so I wanna know. I've seen the Otaku awards and am hoping to witness it the next time it will be around. I've witness Kill Adam 2 being a really popular RPG. Dragon Warrior being a really funny guy with vast unique ideas (referring to OtakuCards and Otaku Shop) ...and I won't forget the outstanding admins and mods. For all of you, new members or not, mods or admins, post in why you're here at OB. What makes OB special? Any funny, naughty, wierd or memorable moments? threads? posts? or even quotes from other members? You can provide links if you want. I wish all newbies find this thread interesting coz I know I would. ^_^x
Danethol
I totally agree with you. I'm actually a past member. About a year or so ago, I departed from OB in search of new boards. Broadening the ol' horizon, you know? Unfortunately, all other forums I found wern't nearly as substantial as OB, the latest torture being Go-Gaia.com. *shudder* After viewing site after site of meaningless dribble, I came back to the place I enjoyed the most, and realised I never should have left. The only change I made was my user name (looking back, my original one sounded a little...pompous). Last time, I greatly admired the users Dragon Warrior, Deathbug, KightoftheRose, and Baron Samedi, along with the Moderators Drix D'Zanth, Queen Asuka, and Piromunkie (Oh, and, um, Transit Nerve! I didn't forget you! *nervous laugh* Please don't hurt me! *cringes*). As for your questoion, I think OB is special because of it's relatively small participation number. Does that sound wrong? Hmm, lemmee re-phrase that. Hundreds of the users who actually use their accounts on here are dwarved by the thousands of participents on other sites; however, in most cases, the large number means noone can get to know one another, rules are not enforced, and the board turns into one big spam conveyor belt. On this site, people can really get to know each other, and users don't run amok. That's what sets it aprt. That, and the sycophantic users that will type up the reasons why OB is special.
JuliasPeach
Well let me start with how I found OB. About 5 years ago I was looking for cheats for my gamboy game, pokemon red, and I stumbled upon Pokecheats.com and that was the otaku main site many years ago. So I found some cheats and saw they had a forum, joined, and posted for about a year. Then the whole board changed and the main site changed a bit and it was a bit too much for me so I left! Then I came back about a couple of months ago and rejoined! This is one of the best boards out there! It has many cool features not a lot of other board have! And the people here, or at least most of them, are very nice and helpful! What can you say about that!? This board is just something that becomes a part of your life, forever, even if you leave for a couple years. It?s always here to fall back on! -Peach EDIT: In case you wanted to know what my previous name here was those many years ago, it was Plume!

I find OB addictive. Balmon
I found my way to OB a few short weeks ago. I was desperate in my search for the name of a song from a GitS StandAlone Complex episode, and searched for message boards on Google. I came upon this one, and found some old threads with people talking about GitS. I sorta' threw in some inconsequential comment about it, and tossed out my question. I did a similar thing to another thread - and that time, it was even less relevant. I checked back several times over the span of a day, and imagine my shock when I found a Mod (Dagger) had not only attempted to answer my question, but had also chastised me for posting so carelessly! I was amazed, to say the least. I didn't think there was a messageboard out there where anyone actually cared to moderate. From that moment, utterly impressed by that first incident, I began exploring the site further. Since then, I've quickly bonded with the site, trying my hand at my first RPG, and meeting some really great people on here! I'm continually amazed by the quality of posts, the creativity of the people here, and the respect that everyone has for OB in general. So - here's to many more fun times with OB! Cheers Phil

Balmon
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I can't believe this kuja guy. Let me say for the record, in my humble opinion, his command of the English language left much to be desired. Nevermind the business of his punctuation, or lack thereof, but, WHAT ABOUT THE SYNTAX? THE SYNTAX???? His prose reads like a horrible imitation of a James Joyce novel... my god... that man had definite issues. That was one of the FUNNIEST things I have read to date on this website. Thank you for providing the necessary links. Phil
Baron Samedi
I've been here for over a year. I think I actually missed my 1 Year Anniversary o_O. Anyway, I came here first in... 01? Maybe even 00, because I was 75% pokemon fan. I was here for a while, kicking around and posting. At this stage I didn't actually have a home PC, and over the school holidays I kinda lost contact with it. So, then in May or March of 03, I'm swinging around in my chair and I think- what should I do? And I think of OB. And so I came back, with a different username and went on from there. I was pretty hardcore for months and months, coming on everyday, as much as I could. Over the last month or two, my....urgency to visit has calmed. And that is my story. My first forum here was //hack because it sounded interesting. After a humber of incredibly...spammy posts, I fuigured iout what was up. And I went to the Lounge, which became my domain for a fair few montghs. i then moved to the Art Forum, and became, what I thought of as, an Art Critique. I then moved to Adventure where the legendary RPG [thread=34376]Black Horizon[/thread] was run. Man, I believe that that was one of the best RPGs. I don't know about many others...but I'd put it in the Top 10, for sure. Another contender is [thread=28412]Body Language[/thread]. They were good times. The 24 Hour chat was another good one. An AIM chat that was up and running for over 24 hours, despite how low quality it got :p. Annie leaving was kinda big, but apparently not as big as Ginnylyn leaving. Kill Adam came, revolutionised the entire way we RPG, and left a while ago. KAV2 is now coming. Uum. Oh, there are heaps of things that make OB special. Down to PMs, chats, replies. Some legendary arguments. It's all good. You admired me Danethol? Well, that was pleasantly unexpected ^_^
DeathKnight
I came here in Oct '01. Not as long as some, but still- I'm an oldbie. Some of the more interesting people I've ever met or had to say goodbye to were on these boards. Odd, really. My best/biggest memories initially start with the Padded Room Party. It was a psychotic spam-fest [emphasis on psychotic AND spam-fest]. It was good, not-so-clean fun and I made some of my first friends there. Hmm. The Silence and the Motion. The forgotten 'conspiracy' [haha]. It was this long-winded, above average RPG that several notable people participated in- Raiha, RicoTranzrig and Des, just to name a few. It was deleted for seemingly no reason at all [to my knowledge], and I think no one ever found out who deleted it. It was an amusing event, really. Just one of those weird things that happens. Big Brother 2 is a great memory. I became great friend with a couple of people from it and it was a fun romp. Plus, I won! How much better can something get? Well, it was actually [sort of] humorous for one. Pretty good, that. All of OB's events are pretty major when they happen- this one just involved me, so. ;) Laura's chat room that lasted way too long. How long did it last? Like a week or something? It kept going and going and going.. The aforementioned Kuja incident. I'm not too into kuja-bashing since he is always pretty nice to me on AIM, but that really was one of the more ridiculous moments that only this message board could create. What makes this place so interesting? The people. The wide range of people really. All bringing in their own style and opinions. From people like wristcutter and TN to people like Queen Asuka. Varied personalities- makes it more volatile, more interesting. More prone to create moments to remember. Eh, that was pretty long winded. Oh well.
Danethol
You admired me Danethol? Well, that was pleasantly unexpected ^_^
Well, you know, admired in a professional sense. I'm a guy, so don't think I've ever had...like...an attraction to you. Yep. No secret admiring here. Uh uh. *clears throat* :shifty: Lol. But yeah, you were one of the few posters I really got a kick out of reading. But I think when I first saw you, there was some kinda Hagar the Horrible motif goin' on...the new one's definately cool.
Strayed Soul
This is one of the best places to go to to discuss anime. The mods dont yell at you like in other forums. The role play is actually well thought out. and you can pretty much talk about anything that you please.
Shinmaru
I've been here for over a year. I think I actually missed my 1 Year Anniversary o_O
Happy One Year OB Anniversary, Baron :p I know I've talked about how I ended up here before, but I can't quite remember if I've talked about it here...maybe on myOtaku or something? My memory is awful. Oh well. I might've talked about it in a couple comments lol. I came across this lovely message board by way of TheOtaku.com. I first ventured onto TheOtaku.com in March of last year, my junior year in high school. I had a computer class, and one of the requirements was to have a cover sheet for all of the assignments that we turned in. Being the dork that I was, I searched for various gaming/anime-related pictures to use for cheap covers. After a couple of months (May 20th, 2003, to be exact), I finally noticed the link to the message boards. I was kind of bored, so I decided to follow them and register with an extremely awful name, which we shall avoid mentioning for the sake of everyone's mental health. After I registered, I made a few posts here and there. I was a decent poster, not really spammy, but not really that good, either. It happens. I mostly stayed in the video game sections (specifically Nintendo), because I was, and still am, a big gamer. I posted in a lot of the topics and created many topics of my own, mostly because I love talking about games with people. It's fun stuff. So, uh, I guess that leads into me becoming a mod. It was either September or October of last year (can't remember which) that it happened. Since the Sony mod at the time hadn't been an active member in quite a while, I was given his job, only I was placed in Nintendo, because that was the most active of the main gaming forums and most of my experience was in there, anyway. As for memories...man, that chat sticks out in my mind. We kept it going for, what, a week? Jeez lol. It was called "TehSillyCircus" and it will live in infamy forever. For the record, it was originally Semjaza Azazel's idea to keep it going for as long as possible, and it got out of control. I place all blame on him, even though he had nothing to do with keeping it alive after the first couple of days. I should probably still be thanking Desbreko for killing off that chat :P As for threads, Most Overrated Game and Most Underrated Game are my favorites, because I love bitching about games that people say are good but, in reality, suck, and I like gushing over games that don't get their due. A thread in the same vein like Crappiest Game Ever also gets kudos from me. Simple concepts that lead to good conversation always make for a good time :)
Baron Samedi
Happy One Year OB Anniversary, Baron :p
Thanks Shinmaru, lol. Yes, TehSillyCircus was another memorable chat. In fact there have been quite a few of them hasn't there? They nearly always dissolve into some kind of spamfest, civil war, or hormone pool, but they're enjoyable, and good for quotes.
Well, you know, admired in a professional sense. Harry
The most memorable thread here was the "What stupid things have you done" (I think that's the title) thread when I first joined ~3 years ago. Some girl said she had lit her shirt on fire while wearing it to spite her parents. I called her a moron for doing that then everyone pounced on me for telling her that. I rolled my eyes and didn't come back for like a year.

Roxie Faye
*laughs* Oh my gosh! I STILL have Kuja's ban thread. I swear to God, I do! XD (I also have one where he got in a fight with Charles. O_o''') This place has had some of the greatest times ever. I mean, gosh. I joined towards the end of v4 (OMG, I feel so old now!!!! @_@), but I've still had good times. I used to visit theOtaku for the Digimon section (It was better than Meg-chan's, at one point), and then I joined the boards. My old username used to be roxieortatiana, but I changed it to what I have now, and haven't changed it, since! I feel so so old, for having lots of memories on these boards! *laughs* Yes, I remember the whole kuja incident - I still have his ban thread, too. *laughs* Oh, oh, and who remembers when ProudClod impersonated Sephiroth... a bunch of times! Haha. I remember Ginny's Mod rod (Ginnylyn created the mod rod - but it was Sara's smiley). I remember "TehSillyCircus" chat - I have TWO banners for it! I can always show them to you, if you want them. *giggles* I remember the Digimon forum so much, too. Oh, Cera and DM (mod mop - haha), and Shy. Who else posted in there? Oh! Kittylyn, and Devidramon's rants, and Nerdsey, and a whole bunch of people! ^^; By the way, this is an old OB thread about older versions of OB. The links Cloricus posted still work, so I believe you can visit them. On the archived/linked to version of "theOtaku" (you'll see when you visit the thread), if you click on the advertisement for OB, you get a pink version of it. Here's the thread: http://otakuboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=14821 Oh, and who, of course, who remembers the six page discussion on closing the Newbie Lounge! I'm very very sorry to say, but I have a confession to make about that particular forum. *is quite shifty eyed* Well, you see, I had the original idea about the evil penguins trying to take over the world, and I got so carried away (who remembers Herbert - My AIM buddy Icon! ^_^), and then before I knew it, everyone else had evil animals taking over OB and the world. I know that several people have claimed to have been the first creator of the Penguins, but in reference to the time they made them, mine came first. I do believe I even have the links to the threads that I first started welcoming people with Penguins - but it wouldn't work anyways, the forum is deleted. So yes, I, alone, made those penguins, and most probably caused the downfall of that forum. *packs bags and shuffles out*
wrist cutter
The best thing to ever happen to OtakuBoards was me. Just ask James. I know he'd agree. Actually, Transtic Nerve is the coolest guy here: "I'd rather have love and marriage than genital warts and crabs with 10 kids with different mothers cause i don't use protection..." Things rocked when I was Transtic Nerve's Japanese-only speaking girlfriend. It was so much more fun.

ChibiHorsewoman
I got here in November 2003 so in some ways that still makes me a green member. You know, like a green horse...oh never mind! I don't really know what to say or how to say it, but let's see if I can.... A few of my favorite people on this board are definately Transtic Nerve, Wrist Cutter (I hope some day to be nearly as cool as he is) and Death Bug to name a few. Best moments on the board...Being able to just jump right into a topic as soon as you get here and people don't start freaking about how you don't know what you're talking about is probably the best reason to keep coming back. The other one would be the fact that my roommates thread has been in the Anime Longe or whatever since November (kind of like me, it just won't go away) Oh and the debates that go on. As long as they make sense and no body suddenly freaks and calls you un american for not supporting the war in Iraq. Well, I should end before I cry or something. Gelgoog Pilot
Heh...I like this thread... Well I've been here since *checks profile* Oh yeah 2002. I consider myslef a average member here, at least here long enough to witness some of the previouly described happenings. Hmm I found this forums while looking for some cool anime paictures to use as wallpaper. Well I saw the 'forum' link and I was like "Hell I'll join". And so it began. I fell in love with the battle arean at first, having never seen anything like it since I'd played D and D. There I found one of the coolest members here...Harlequin. I had made a duel cahallenge and he accepted. Now me being new to the whole battling experience lost...but his post quality and stlye really got my to stay. Then I grew a bit tired of life here. To me it seemed a bit...colder than it is today. So I decided to leave in search of other forums, after recieving an invitation. I fell in love with that other messsage board. After a while I decided to check the old faithful out. Low and behold it had changed into what it is today...even though I've been back here almost everyday for a year it still amazes me how this place became fiendlier. Now I visit the Adventure arena and have meet a few really cool people there. I haven't been involved in too much of the big evens here but I do recall them. Such as Kuja's dismissle (sort of funny eh? a crappy FF enemy turns out to be a guy who gets banned. Just wierd that he seemed to fit into his screen name i don't know heh.) Anyway I must say I do like coming here again and I know I'll be here for a while.
Dagger
It was called "TehSillyCircus" and it will live in infamy forever.
Shortly after participating in that chat, I pretty much stopped using AIM and haven't logged on for longer than five minutes at any one time since. Dragon Warrior
There are too many things to recall, but I do remember TehSillyCircus. My God, good times XD It was surely silly :D Anyways, I've been here since Version 1, so I'm an oldie, you could say. As I've said before, I really couldn't state everything that's been in good memory. To name a few:

The Otaku Cafe- This was a RPG or something back in the day. It was run by DeathKnight, Pyro Kitty, KnightoftheRose, and myself. It was freakin' sweet! We served people and stuff :D
Dragonial- Possibly the most fun I've ever had in an RPG. This was a classic. Thanks to Ginnylyn for posting in it. Her and I kept it alive :)
OtakuCards 1&2- Both versions are fun in a box :) I've enjoyed both!
Star Wars 411- A sweet thread. Possibly the largest in all of OB O.o
Like I said, there's probably more. I've been around too long to recall everything.

And does any one remember Killer Pikachu? He was from the original days. there was a great war between me and him lol. But seriously it was weird! There were sides taken and all i can remeber was on one side there was Plume and Pokadazz, vrs. Killer Pikachu and G/S expert. Does any one remeber that? any way, too bad i missed all the "precious Moments" here. I shouldnt have left for so long! But i do remeber thimoc and will2x and renee and ravenmoon. ah the good times!
