Billy Shears
I read the sample for this in the 2003 TokyoPop sampler. It seems very interesting, kinda reminds me of Cowboy Bebop. And the plotline seems cool. This high-school strands its students on an island, with plenty of weapons, and they fight to the death for a prize (i don't remember what it was). I liked what i read, so i posted this thread> (Haha, that rhymes) :D
wiccansamurai
You really shouldn't make two topics for the same thing. Anyway, I don't see how it reminds you of Cowboy Bebop. And from what you said in the other thread, something about it being funny, you seem to have some expectations of these for comedy. There is no comedy. Through all the exagerated violence and gore, the pointless nudity, it is an actually good manga. Just not very funny or cowboy bebop like. Maybe you could explain why its like Cowboy Bebop? Billy Shears
I dont know how it reminded me about CB. I think it was the way the characters dressed. But like I said, I only read the sample. Where can I buy this?
Kei
As wiccan said, I can't see how you can begin to compare the two, even in terms of dress. The only thing that they have in common that I can remember offhand is that they both have guns somewhere in the series, lol. Anyway, I find this manga to be...interesting, to say the least. The manner of detailed gore and nudity, as well as sexual discretion was indeed eyebrow-raising. I've only read up to Volume 3, as that were my library's collection stops, but if I spy it, I'll probably pick up the rest. In terms of your question, iggy, you can buy Battle Royale where other TokyoPop mangas are sold, like Barnes & Noble or B. Dalton (my personal store of choice). I would also suggest trying to ut a bit more effort in your posting, FYI.
Camlaren
After buying the first two volume I can say this this isn't really my thing, not only do I not like the TV series Survivor, but the gruesome deaths/rapes/anything else are just... disturbing. I can tolerate it if I find it necessary, but I honestly don't see how some kids can suddenly go insane... it's just twisted. Reminds me of Lord of the Flies crossed with Survivor. Blah.
