[i]Everyone here in Station Square has a brand new skyscraper to look at with the arrival of the largest technology firm on Mobius, HedgeTech Inc., deciding to set up a base of operations here. The decision by the company’s CEO, Shadow T. Hedgehog, came as a welcome surprise to our own mayor, Waller Rotor.

“When I received the call from Mr. Hedgehog, I was very surprised to say the least. However, I’m very happy that HedgeTech Inc. has staked a claim here in our fine city. I’m quite certain that the new jobs they will provide will help settle our economy a bit, as well as the sum he gave to the city for the space downtown.”

Mayor Rotor was unwilling to comment on exactly how much was given, but he said that it was a considerable sum.

Hedgehog, other than being known for his CEO work, is also a great animatarian, giving vast amounts of money to charities around the world and funding many betterment projects around the country.

I spoke with the elusive Mr. Hedgehog earlier today, and he had this to say about his decision, as well as his critics:

“I know that several people that have been trailing my company have plenty to say about this latest venture of mine, most of it probably being that I’ll end up in the red coming this fiscal year. I certainly do not agree. We here at HedgeTech Inc. currently have a very large project in the works that may indeed prove to be most profitable in the long run. If you want to know what we’re planning exactly…Well, you’ll just have to wait and see.”

Certainly interesting, to say the least. Well, at least we know that with HedgeTech Inc., it’s sure to be something we’ll remember. This is Lara-Su Echidna, Channel 3 News, signing off.[/i]

“Turn it off.”

A slender, manicured hand let one of a finely sharpened nail press the power button of the television, immediately ending Shadow’s personal version of the broadcast. His assistant walked over to the desk and stood beside her employer, smiling all the while.

“You’ve got their curiosity peaked, Shadow.”

Shadow sat back in his high-backed leather chair, laying his arms on the rests and turning to her.

“Seems as such. But that reporter was right. When we do unveil our little ‘project,’ it’ll be something that people are going to remember for a long time.”

He turned around and looked out his large bay window overlooking the bright lights of Station Square’s night skyline.

“Isn’t that right, oh brother of mine?”

[i]Somewhere in the urban area of Station Square, in a rundown apartment building that barely passed its recent safety inspection, a blue hedgehog sneezed in his sleep.[/i]

HedgeTech Inc. has made its way to Station Square, a bustling metropolis of over two million, and is causing quite a stir with its recent revelation. It seems that the next big thing from the company will be researched and developed only in the city, according to its illustrious CEO, Shadow T. Hedgehog.

Unknown to the masses, however, the end product can have a result that would destroy the very foundation of existence. Only thing is, the entire plan of it is locked away in the brain of the most unlikely anti-hero you’ll ever meet in your life.

Sonic Hedgehog, your average Joe with one heck of a bad luck streak going, thinks things just can’t get any worse. He’s been laid off, dumped by his girlfriend, and got an eviction notice all in the span of three days. All he wants to do is drown his sorrows at the nearest bar and forget everything that’s happened, but that’s kind of hard with no cash in your pocket. How can a hopeless loser like this have the potential to bring Armageddon to the planet? You’ll just have to wait and find out…

This RPG will not follow common Sonic logic, if you haven’t already guessed. Sonic & Co. are more like regular humans in this universe, so try to keep that in mind as you create your sign-ups. Here’s the sign-up sheet (Be sure to read any attached notes):

[u]Rules regarding characters:[/u]

1) Yes, you are allowed to create your own characters. The only thing I ask about original characters is that some thought be put into their creation. A decent background is a must.

2) You are allowed to play as an existing character from any Sonic series (including the comic) with the following exceptions: Sally Acorn, Bunny Rabbot, Antoine (Sonic the Hedgehog ’92, Sonic the Hedgehog Comic from Archie Comics) or any human from Sonic X, and Eggman.

3) I ask that the following roles attempt to be filled. Plus signs represent good guys, minus signs represent bad guys; both indicate somewhere in-between: Sonic (+), Shadow (-), Knuckles (+-), Tails (+), Rouge (+-), Amy (+), Espio (+-). Take a note that while Espio and Rouge are on the fence, they work for Shadow. Knuckles is also on the fence, but currently sides with Sonic.

That being said, here's my own sign-up sheet. I suppose it can be used as an example for people who want to create original characters:

[b]Age:[/b] 21
[b]Description:[/b] Keita stands at a height of 3’2”, but manages 3’4” in heels. She always manages to flatter her light purple fur tone and light blue eyes with her attire, the outfit she usually wears being a form-fitting business-style suit, accented with two thin Ring bracelets on both wrists. Often times, she’s seen wearing thin-framed reading glasses, but only during the daytime. At night, she switches to contacts.
[b]Biography:[/b] Keita is Shadow’s right-hand lady, acting as his personal assistant at HedgeTech.
Keita was formerly a thief-for-hire, doing whatever job a customer would want if the price was right. It was that way that she met Rouge and the both of them climbed the ranks in the Thieves’ Underworld. They were known as the best in the business for a long time, and for good reason. They’d never failed in a heist, and they earned the nickname of “The Phantom Duo” for their ability to slip through even the most advanced security system unnoticed. That is, until one fateful night when that all changed…

It was during a job from a main rival of HedgeTech that the both of them were caught in the middle of a job because of a small error Keita made. They were both captured and eventually convinced (by convinced, I mean tortured) them into giving out all the information he wanted out of them, and promptly threw them out like yesterday’s trash.

After that, the two of them fell from glory and were treated like common thugs by their fellow thieves. Keita harbored a grudge against Shadow and decided to go after him one night, despite Rouge’s advice not to. However, he attempt failed in the end, and she was again captured. Shadow offered to release her, on the condition that she work for him. Keita hatefully accepted, knowing that if she refused, she would more than likely be killed.

As time went on, Keita became more fascinated by the way Shadow worked and overcame the feelings of her grudge, eventually even coming to fancy him. The both of them are currently in a relationship outside the company. But even though she hides it well, she keeps the thought of what happened two years ago in the back of her mind…and she always will…

As well as Shadow’s assistant and lover, she is also the head of Shadow’s attack unit, usually used to take care of up and coming rivals or people who have stuck their noses where they didn’t belong. All the others must directly report to her, and she is often the one that gives orders to them, as Shadow will normally leave assassination tactics in her capable hands.
[b]Personality:[/b] Keita tends to keep her emotions well hidden during the day, not letting on anything about how she may be feeling when there are other employees or clients about. But, she’s often very-outspoken when alone with Shadow or by herself.
She often tends to come off as arrogant to the others, and will more than often times offer a snide remark than a helping hand, but she won’t hesitate to lend assistance when she feels that someone’s mistake may put an entire mission at risk. Just be prepared to get more than an earful afterward…if she doesn’t kill you first.
[b]Special Ability:[/b] Technically, Keita doesn’t have any “special” abilities. However, previously being a thief, she is very agile and quick to think on her feet. It’s not very easy to catch her off guard. She loses most of that ability if she becomes enraged, however.

[B]Description:[/B] Holding her head high and smiling sweetly to everyone she knows, Luna is thought of as sophisticated, elegant and kind.
Usually dressing in knee length skirts and smart tops, she matches them with her very noticeable crimson fur. Her tail is long and sleek and her ears are pointed with silver studs adorning each of them. She never wears makeup except for mascara just to make her already long eyelashes stand out even more. Her eyes are always half closed casting a shadow over her deep green eyes.

[B]Biography:[/B] Luna lives alone in a large apartment in the centre of town, just a few minutes walk away from the huge office block where her work is based. Most of the time she is out on the street getting all the latest gossip for the magazine she works for, making sure that she stays up to date with all the latest fissions and trends. She is currently working on a report on Shadow?s latest project but is trying to make sure he doesn?t find out. She has never liked the hedgehog and is hoping to find out all the bad things about this project.

Since she was younger, Luna had always been a good writer. Her best subject in school was English and she achieved top grades. Her dream was to become a famous author, preferably of romance novels; she never would have guessed that she would be a reporter for a gossip magazine.

Her parents were rich and paid for the best education for her, but when she left home at the age of 19 she hit a wall. She lost all her money and was forced she work 3 different jobs, barley managing to get any sleep.
This is when she met Knuckles. He came to a diner she was working at one day and from the first time she set eyes on him, she knew he was the one for her. Of course, Luna never did see him again after that day, but she is always hopeful.

When her shift is finished for the day, Luna goes to Kendo classes and self-defence lessons, she also teaches an aerobics class on Saturdays. Because of this she is strong and disciplined which makes her a great worker. She is dedicated to everything she does but hopes that one day she will just be able to settle down.

[B]Personality:[/B] Luna is a kind person and is always seen smiling. She never tries to hurt anyone?s feelings and is always ready to help, even if it means that she loses out on something. Very dedicated to her work and cause, Luna has climbed up in the ranks at her work place and has been voted as Reporter of the Year. This made has made her proud and although she is a very nice person, if someone gives her the chance she can be very arrogant as well.

Most of the people she knows would describe her as a good friend and excellent work mate, she is popular and always willing to get a round of drinks in on a night out. Luna enjoys going clubbing and just being able to relax after a hard day of work.

[B]Special Ability:[/B] From her Kendo training, Luna is able to use any stick as a deadly weapon. She doesn?t need to have her Shinai to defend herself against someone and she will fight to the end. Luna is also good with computers and hacked into the schools main computer when she was a student.[/COLOR]

[B]Biography:[/B] Currently the man for Shadows 'Odd-Jobs' Espio started his work life in a very different place. He started his work life as a member of the Chaotix, a group of various talents lead by Vector the Crocodile, Espio thought Vector was a fair and just leader with a bit of a 'glorly grapping' streak but he was much better than Knuckles who had been the previous leader. He got along with most of the group with the exception of Mighty the Armadillo whom he disliked when he first set eyes on him, what the two didn't realise was that they were very much alike and some say this is why they didn't get along.

The Choatix where a group of merc's who took jobs for money if they thought it suited their purpose. After a few missions and raids the group got a name for themselves and soon many people were asking for their services and Vector would only take the highest bidder from the vast numbers pleading for the services of the Chaotix. Espio was the main covert man of the group, being trained in the martial arts and throwing 3-foot wide shuiken he to had a name outside of the group. This caused an even bigger feud between himself and Mighty which eventually split the group apart. Espio stuck with Vector and a Bee known as Charmy and they founded their own detective agency.

Espio didn't stay long, to him the idea seemed out dated and stale. He forged a carrer of stealing small objects of high value for those who needed them but he eventually made a mistake. While attempting to steal some technology from HedgeTech he was caught and brought before Shadow. Just as he thought he would be vapourised Shadow offered him a postion in the company as his 'odd-job' man who would do anything and everything asked of him by Shadow. Weighing the alternative Espio agreed with out hestiation. Since then he has worked many deeds for Shadow, sometimes as a solo and other times with his sometimes partner Rouge.

[B]Personality:[/B] Espio is a chameleon looking out for only himself. He doesn't care what happens to others as long as the mission or his own goal is carried out and completed. The only time he'd care for someone is if the success of the mission depended on their survival. Most think of him as cold and aloof but he doesn't care what others think because his is the only opinion that matters to him. His friends know that for the most part it is an act to intimidate others but have never questioned him about it.

[B]Special Ability:[/B] Espio is able to blend in with his surroundings with limited success, his eyes are the only part of him that don't disappear and there is still a vauge outline of his body where it is super-imposed over the area he is copying.[/SIZE][/COLOR]

[Solo Tremaine]

[b]Race:[/b] Echidna
[b]Age:[/b] 23
[b]Description:[/b] Knuckles is a deep red-skinned echidna with large red dreadlocks. He has a white collar around his neck and wears black, metal-studded gloves. He wears a black sleeveless jacket and black jeans, torn pretty much everywhere. Around his head is a faded purple bandanna. On his feet are massive metal boots with small spikes on the soles, which he delights in using to put other people in their places.
[b]Biography:[/b] Knucles never really cared for anything much, and still doesn't. He quit high school after his second year because he found it too boring, and instead trained as a kick-boxer to try and earn him some tournament cash. The problem was, his manager was corrupt and took him on only to use as a scaegoat for various crimes he was comitting. While at a midnight training session, police broke into the gym and threw him to the floor, reading him his rights without even charging him.

He'd been charged with murder.

His lawyer, paid for using a loan from a friend in the state, managed to grant him an appeal and was then successful in getting his manager thrown into jail. But the loan cast him into huge debt, and even though the friend was a friend, the expenses were too high to ignore. Knuckles still pays it off day by day, through whatever means he can. Whether it's accepting a job as a bouncer/decoy/butler, he'll do it. But he'll never kill.

Knuckles lives in a run down hut in the Station Square suburbs- something he built himself using utilities he scrounged from a skip. He met Sonic whilst taking a job protecting an 'ambassador' (read: drugs baron) in the downtown city. Sonic was in the room opposite the dealing's location, and when he came outside to see Knuckles standing vigilantly a few metres away, they struck up conversation. It wasn't friendly conversation at first, but after a short fight (and a few subsequent meetings), the two became... not friends, but associates.

[b]Personality:[/b] Knuckles is brash, argumentative, stubborn and brutal, but knows right and wrong in the context of morality. As far as he's concerned people can do what they like, so long as he gets paid.
[b]Special Ability:[/b] Knuckles is a great street-fighter and moves with agility and physical prowess, being able to knock seven bells out of several opponents in a fairly short space of time. He's also fairly strong for an Echidna, and enjoys showing off his capabilities.

Biography: Tatsu is a very mixed up being who is confused on what to do with his life. He's been wandering around the world searching for a purpose to keep living. He wandering far and wide, and ended up in Station Square, where his next adventure will start...
Personality: Outgoing and Determined, you'd never know that he was hurting inside.
Special Ability: Quick, but not Sonic quick, and a good swordsmen.

Description: Midnight is a white rabbit. His eyes are blue and he stands at about 4'0. He wears baggy cargo shirts and a piece of rope to hold them up. His shirt is all black and is also baggy. He uses a white beanie in an attempt to hide his ears. His shoes are pretty big due to his big feet. They are blue and white.

Biography: Midnight was a joke to his family. His mother was a prostitute that went around from house to house not living in one house. He was born prematurely and that caused his white fur. His mother gave him up to her family right after he was born.

He was sent to live with his aunt he treated him like a slave forcing him to clean the house and tend to her gardens. He lived like this for about seven years and then got fed up and left. He continued to go to school though, because he felt that his calling in life was in academics. When he graduated he was living with his best friend.

They both proceeded to go to Station Square University where the two now are currently living. Midnight got a job working at local theme park as a technician. He repairs and does checkups on all the different rides. His currently studying to be an engineer of roller coasters.

His nickname comes from the time when he was living with his aunt. Every time he was overworked, he would bleed and it would stain his fur. His aunt chastised him about and called his the Midnight the Red.

Personality: Midnight is a happy-go-lucky sort of guy. He says hi to everyone he meets on the street and always tries to help his fellow person. The few people that truly know him know that in a sense, it's a cover. He uses that hide his true feelings of rage and sorrow.

Special Ability: Midnight excels in engineering. He has also started to engineer a jetpack which enables him to fly to certain heights. He has no fighting background, but he can stand up for himself if backed into a corner.[/color]

Name: Matthew Jacob
Race: Fox
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Description: 6' 0'', black and grey fur, with long black hair that is in a ponytail near his mid back. Usual attire is a white muscle shirt and a pair of loose blue jeans along with a pair of tennis shoes. He has crystal blue eyes that can pierce the souls of anyone.

Biography: Matthew had grown up in a lively family, and had good parents and lived in a good area of Station Square. He had gone to a public school, dispite his parents wishes, and he had also went to various martial arts classes to keep his energetic mind under control. He had ADHD, which kept him hyped up and on the edge all the time, but he hated it. So, he took various classes and also learned various sword defense arts as well. He graduated from his high school and had gotten a good job with an animation-game creation industry, and currenlty lives by himself, but is always willing to have someone else move in with him, due to the lack of activities in his day.

Personality: Rather the hyper and crazy type. Not too smart in terms of thinking before acting, but when it comes right down to it, he can do almost anything if he sets his mind to it.

Special Ability: Being hyper active 50% of his day, Matt can do a lot more activities and exercises than the average person. But he gets tired afterwards. Besides that, he has a strong sense of his surroundings, able to sense anyone coming at him or nearby, but only if his mind is clear enough to do so, which is also rare. But, whenever he grabs a staff, long stick, or any blade like weapon, beware. He is especially good with any type of blade weapon, and can KO or kill anyone with using just one hand and a simple, single strike.

Name: Jack Fox

Age: 24

Description: Jack is a private eye of the old school, and dresses like his [I]film noir[/I] heroes. That means a long cream trenchcoat over a faded and worn dark grey suit jacket and trousers, light grey shirt, and cream fedora shadowing his face. He has neat orange fur and lets his tail show out the back of his coat.

Biography: When he was young, Jack's parents were framed for a high-level security leak at HedgeTech, Inc. and fired, leaving the family penniless. His father's ingenuity at software design helped them get back on their feet, but Jack has since harboured deep resentment for big companies and their unscrupulous principles, and keenly felt every injustice he witnessed in the world around him. In school, for instance, Jack was always the one that stood up for the kid getting beaten up for their lunch money. That overactive sense of justice has got him into trouble before, but it's what keeps food on the table these days. Jack dropped out of University where he was reading Forensic Science to pursue his dream of being a big-city PI. He's crossed paths with Espio a couple of times during the chameleon's short stint as an investigator, and disliked the chameleon's methods even more than he disliked Espio himself. Jack specialises in sniffing out corruption at the highest levels of big business, but is forever disappointed when the giant multinationals manage to evade responsibility through the tiniest legal loophole. He will never refuse a chance to try and bring HedgeTech, Inc. low.

Personality: He may have an overblown sense of justice and a burning need to help those who have been wronged, but Jack finds it difficult to connect to people on a personal level. For this reason the 'lone wolf' life of the private investigator suits him to a Tee: he is always meeting new people, but they disappear from his life as soon as the case is closed.

Special ability: Jack has better than average observational skills developed from a lifetime of searching for tiny clues, and a knack for asking the right questions in order to get at the truth. He has a decent working knowledge of forensics from his time studying at University. He is also a crack shot with a Cougar Magnum. He's never happy about packing heat, but when poking his nose into other people's business in Station Square, it's a very necessary evil.

[b]Description:[/b] See attachment, though in the RPG, Sonic's hair will hang looser than his Sonic Adventure spines.

[b]Biography:[/b] The younger of two brothers, Sonic had a lot to live up to. However, no matter how much he did, how hard he tried, his father, Jules the Hedgehog, never seemed to acknowledge Sonic. The poor child, being only a quick and agile boy, was never quite as smart as his older brother.

But he was GOOD. His brother, unbeknownst to Jules, was not quite so "good" as their father liked to think. It quite often fell to Sonic to dissuade his older brother from getting them into trouble. As the months passed, a distraught Sonic sought out his mother, Bernadette, whom his father had left a year after Sonic's birth, claiming he would mother the boy into uselessness. To Jules, the damage had already been done. To Bernadette and Sonic, the damage lay with Shadow and Jules.

Years passed, and a rivalry grew between the two hedgehogs Shadow and Sonic. School was Shadow's ruling ground, but the streets were Sonic's. Since Sonic had gone to live with his mother, their budget had been strained, and Sonic had had to find a job to help out. He became a pit fighter, and out of necessity, a proficient one. However, as time passed, Shadow and Sonic ceased the rivalry, Sonic's responsibility lying with his mother and Shadow's with his newly formed HedgeTech Inc.

Sonic currently lives with his ailing mother in a ramshackle apartment, caring for Bernie's every need, while daily he gets more and more bruised, more injured. And more depressed. Only his mother and his friends, Miles Prower and Amy Rose, keep him going with his pit fighting and his daily deliveries for Pizza Palace.

Sonic's most prized possession is a sleek blue motorcycle, a gift from Miles and Ami upon his passing his driver's test at age eighteen.

[b]Personality:[/b] Sonic's brash, arrogant, and crass despite, or rather because of, his...rather pointed lack of a decent education spanning beyond high school. And despite his poor living conditions, his family situation, his father constantly shooting the ever-hopeful (though he'll never admit it) hedgehog down, his brother rubbing Sonic's nose in it every time they meet, and the cracked ribs he currently labors under, Sonic maintains a somewhat positive front, though it's well hidden behind his rough facade.

[b]Special Ability:[/b] Sonic is exceptionally fast, especially for a hedgehog. He is a decent runner, though that isn't special. No, his ability lies in his fighting skills, his learning curve, and his driving abilities. Sonic is extremely agile, making him a hard target in a fight, and he picks new techniques up within an hour of being shown how they are done.

His most exceptional feat, however, is his ability to avoid accidents even at his bike's maximum speed, which is a godsend to Sonic's status as the Pizza Palace delivery boy. Though with Station Square's traffic laws, the bike's maximum speed is rarely a need or an occurence. Sonic can ill-afford a ticket with Bernie in the way she is.[/color]

Tails' parents died when he was at the very young age of 3, and he was thrown into a rundown orphanage where the keepers hardly cared about the kids and where most of the children commited suicide, just to escape the horror that was their lives.
Tails was always the silent type and glared at anyone if they looked at him or tried to talk to him. The keepers liked him the best because he was so quiet and never said anything. But they were often annoyed at Tails because he was always getting into fights with other kids. He hated the stupid stone building and wished he could leave. He wished earnestly for his 17th birthday to arrive so he could leave the dump the people called an orphanage.
Finally it was time, after 14 long years of staying in the dreaded place, he was finally able to leave. On the last day, before his 17th birthday, he didn't sleep at all, he stayed awake the whole night watching the seconds, minutes, and hours pass by on his digital watch. He counted down the last few seconds and whispered a 'Happy Birthday' to himself with a smirk, before rolling out of the bunk they called beds that had the toughest mattresses ever.
Tails had waited in his clothes, picked up his backpack full of all his possessions, and made for the front office. He picked the lock with ease, after doing it so many times and snuck in, disarming the alarm. He took a quick look around, his blue eyes looking for any sign of movement, and snuck over to the main computer. He turned the computer on quickly and drummed his fingers lightly on the desk. Finally it came up and Tails hacked into the mainframe, accessing the records. Tails had done this many times before, always checking others kids' records on the computer. Tails looked up his name, regretably typing his full name, 'Miles Prower', the file came up on the screen, there was a picture of him and all of his personal records. He did a bit of typing and his status changed from 'Orphan', to 'Released'.
Tails got out of the records and got into the section where they tried to hide their documents that they saved on the computer. He quickly printed out the release forms and wrote in all of his information, signing at the bottom. He grabbed another piece of paper and quickly scribbled a note.

"I'm finally gone. File this away, and don't worry about putting it into the computer. already done. Thanks for nothing. ~Tails"

Tails put that on top of the release forms and set them on the keyboard. He shifted his backpack and walked back to the entrance. He rearmed the alarm and got out the door, locking it behind him. He looked out into the dark and ran down the slope that lead to the entrance of the orphanage, he could see the bent steel bars that acted as a gate and vaulted over them easily. The gravel crunched under his feet as he landed and Tails smiled, for the first time in 17 years, he smiled.
From then on, he was home free, he decided to try to get a job and earn some money. Tails stayed in any empty places he could find. Usually they were rich penthouses that he climbed up to and would pick his way in.
After a half year of life outside the orphanage, he met his current bestfriend, Sonic. They met when first Tails met him at Pizza Palace, then again when Tails snuck into a pit fight. They got to know each other and Tails decided to tag along with him, because Sonic taught him a lot of stuff. Soon after, they met a female hedgehog and became friends with her too, Amy Rose.
When Tails hit 18, Sonic and Amy bought him his most prized possession, the best laptop in existence at the moment. Tails loves it and carries it practically everywhere, in his backpack.
[B]Personality:[/B] Tails is a nice kinda guy if you get to know him, he has a good sense of good and evil though, and if he gets an evil sense from someone, you can be sure he won't be acting very friendly towards that person. He has a good glare and can scare most people with it, purely because his blue eyes turn ice hard and cold, then they turn into slivers as he narrows his eyes.
[B]Special Ability:[/B] Tails is a computer whiz and knows how to use every piece of technology created, even new ones if he's given time to discover what it is. He can scale tall buildings, pick locks, and is very agile, cunning and quick, though not as fast as Sonic. His twin tails can also help him by spinning at a fast pace, letting him levitate off the ground for a small amount of time. He has very sharp eye-sight and can see clearly in the dark, and is a great fighter, due to his tails which can each do quite a bit of damage.[/COLOR]
