Guest spanishflea
Okay, its been a long time since i've come to this board but i was just thinking, in a state of randomness, while looking through pictures of Tom cruise. That he looks like squall. Yes, i know he doesn't really look like him, but you can see the resemblence whoa big word. yea so i was thinking who else looks like/ or could pull off acting as a character from any video game from any time or place or whosoever chooses to think i am making sence or not. natetron46
Hitman---to the silver screen staring Jason Statham, the guy from transporter and snatch. In real news, I saw on a doom3 board that a doom movie was going to come out, starring the rock apparently
GuyYouMetOnline
I'm sure most people have heard by now that John Woo is producing and possibly directing a Metroid movie. This brings up the question of who should play Samus Aran. After seeing Kill Bill, I think Uma Therman could do it, but my pick is Kirstanna (I think that's how you spell it) Loken, who played the T-X in T3. James
I think Uma would be a cool choice, but what's-her-name (I don't know the spelling either) is a bit questionable. But that's only because I've only ever seen her acting as a robot. So...I've never seen her act with emotion or anything. Not to say that it'd be so noticeable on Samus, but still, you'd probably want someone who can convey emotion nonetheless.

It seems like a continuation of Metroid: Zero Mission, I'm not too sure, but it definitely has some sort of correlation with the game. Check out the site.
James
Oh yeah, this reminds me of the Metroid Prime TV ad that was done at Fox Studios in Sydney. It was a live action ad, which spliced the live action and the in-game stuff. You guys got that one in America, didn't you?
Desbreko
Yeah, and we also got a Metroid Fusion ad with live action bits. Both were really awesome, though I prefered the Fusion one. I thought the little face off with Samus and the SA-X was cool, heh. Definitely a couple of my favorite game commercials.
Solo Tremaine
I'm not sure about Samus. I don't think Uma Therman looks quite right, to be honest. But I can't actually think of a better alternative. Obviously, looking at Samus' figure in the games you can tell she's not a wallflower-type, so someone stick-thin wouldn't be right. But some kind of female body builder would lose the sex appeal. Hmm... There was talk of a Half-Life movie a while ago. I don't know how great it would really be for storylines, but I think Eric Bana would make a good Gordon Freeman. He looks intelligent enough to be a scientist and he can do action well, as was seen from Troy.
BlueYoshi
Most UK commercials are usually on the funny side, so the producers wouldn't go through the trouble of casting live action stuff for the sake of 30-40 seconds. :( Providing Colin Farrell put on a bit more muscle and actually got into shape, then I think he'd make a great Solid Snake in terms of appearance. Then again, he really hates working out for movie roles, which leads me to believe that he's a Sam Fisher type of guy.
Gavin
I honestly wouldn't mind seeing Uma Thurman as Samus because if we consider the facts she actually fits the part quite well.
Samus is rarely out of her suit so physical size isn't really an issue.
When we do see Samus out of her suit she's actually athletic in appearance, I think it's the power suit which gives off the impression she's built like a tank.
Uma's no stranger to playing tough women and as such would be better able to play the emotions Samus would be seen dealing with than someone picked because they bare a resemblance to Samus.
Those are really only the ones I can think of at the moment, but I still believe she'd be a fine choice for the part of Ms Aran. As per Solo's talk of a Half Life movie I agree that story itself may need some fleshing out to fill a script, but Eric Bana would be a fine choice for the title role. He's already proven he can fill a variety of roles from noble Prince in Troy to quiet Scientist in The Hulk. I remember there was a thread a year or so ago about the possibility of making Metal Gear Solid into a movie, but I can only remember a few off the top of my head who we thought could play the different characters. Metal Gear Solid has a great storyline to it with some very human characters so I think it would make an interesting movie. I can only really think of one actor who'd play any one part without too much work. Otacon: Michael Shanks Any other ideas ?
Brasil
This is a bit off-topic, I remember reading something about an MGS movie a few years ago. It was purely speculation, I'm sure, but the article said something that I feel needs to be considered regarding an MGS movie: "But, with such high production values and the cinematic presentation of Metal Gear Solid, a film version seems redundant." It was something to that effect, but the point stands. I mean, the original MGS was a playable movie. There was enough gameplay to avoid the calamity of MGS2, obviously, but when it comes to cinema in games, MGS is up there as one of the greatest, and I feel an MGS movie would be extremely redundant, given what MGS accomplished (the successful blending of silver screen cinema and console gaming). Semjaza
I don't think games should be made into movies. I can't think of a single decent videogame movie off the top of my head. Things like Mortal Kombat are generally referred to as the best, but compared to what? Other video game movies? When there's a Super Mario Bros. film with a human Bowser and a Double Dragon film starring Keanu Reeves, there's not much to be proud of in that statement. Games have gotten increasingly cinematic. In many cases, the games that do this most are games I probably like the least. I am not interested in watching a movie more than I play a game. Games offer control that movies don't. Going away from this simply defeats their purpose in my mind. I doubt many people agree, but I think game based movies should be entirely ignored and the money better spent on making good playable games with high quality presentations. I don't love the new Riddick game, but that's a good example of what developers should be going for right now. Tie ins can help, but they're rarely capitalized on effectively. GuyYouMetOnline
Sure, game-based movies haven't been that great in the past (although I enjoyed the two I've seen, Mario and Wing Commander. Yes, I like the Mario movie. Not the best movie ever, true, but I enjoyed it. The human Bowser was a horrible idea, though. But that's made up for by Yoshi. Yes, Yoshi's in that movie), but that may change. One movie could change it, and I bet most of you know what movie I'm thinking about (I mentioned it in my previous post): Metroid. It'll be hard for the Metroid movie to be ruined. Two things could do it: a director who isn't familliar with action movies and the Metroid franchise, and the wrong actress as Samus Aran. As I've said, my pick for Samus is Kirstanna Loken, the T-X, with Uma Therman as my second choice. But I'm repeating myself. To close, I'll repeat myself again, and say that director and cast are probably the most important things when making a game-based movie. By the way, can anyone thing of an actor who could play Drakengard's Caim? He's a revenge-driven, dragon-hating soldier (medieval setting, so swords, spears, that kind of thing) who loses his voice in a pact with (you probably saw this coming) a dragon, who happens to hate humans (the pact was the only way the two of them could live). I've been trying to think of a good actor for him, but I've come up with none so far. Any ideas?
