Does anyone know anything about the manga series, Count Cain, by Kaori Yuki? I know she's the creator of Angel Sanctuary (which is, in my opinion, the greatest manga/anime ever), and I was wondering if Count Cain was any good.

The series has a very dark undertone and is similiar to a murder mystery (though it has an extremely gothic setting and some adult theme that are quite disturbing). Be warn that like Angel Sanctuary, the manga focus more on tragedy and doesn't have many 'happily ever after'.

That being said, it's a very entertaining series, and has some well rounded and sympathetic characters, if you are a gothic horror fan, I highly recommend this.

It's one of the few I haven't read by her but I will do soon enough. I read Kaine by her, which is not similar at all, but is in name xD

Yuki Kaori never makes a happy ending. One of the few with a happy ending is Bloodhound which I loved anyway. She has a thing for corrupted fairy tales and mother figures gone wrong.

I. Adore. Kaori Yuki. And Cain, of course, is no exception. It's just so delightfully dark, and lovely, and twisted. I love the fact that there are self-contained episodes weaved into one intricate plot. And I've re-read Vol 1 and the chapters covered in Shojo Beat several (million) times without ever tiring of it.

Besides the story and the artwork, there are the bishies. Call me shallow, but I fangirl so very much over Cain and Riff, especially in the chapters Black Sheep and Lion's Crest (I believe those are the right titles).

Godchild is going to be released quarterly, which is about as often as I can by it. And I just saw on Shojo Beat's homepage that they are putting out the earlier volumes of Cain. The first is already out.

I was so relieved to see that Viz was putting them out, because one of my friends had said TokyoPop acquired the rights to the ones before Godchild. I appreciate any Yuki manga, but I am not a fan of TokyoPop's translations.

The style of those five earlier ones is different from Godchild, but it had been several years between the two. Her older manga was not as refined in terms of art, I think, but I am still going to squeee uncontrolably as soon as I get my hands on it. I think until then I'll just read the Lion's Crest chapter a gazillion more times.
