Procrastination

Been doing this a lot lately. I know I really have to work and the deadline for it is nearing. But I've been having a hard time concentrating. I'm trying to fight the urge of joining RPGs or making one or starting to create my own site. But once I get online, there's no stopping me. ^_^x

I'm hoping to discipline myself but the success rate is still slow. This thread is a proof of my procrastination! So I try to use my laziness to an advantage and create a thread about it hoping I'll learn something... while procrastinating ^_^x

So, what do you do when you are in the state of procrastination and how do you refrain yourself from procrastinating?

I usually try to channel my.... um, procrastina-tory urges into accomplishing something useful (even if it isn't the one task I really ought to be working on). For example, I like to avoid writing term papers by cleaning my room or washing my car. It makes me feel mildly better about myself--and less stressed out--while still allowing me to put off doing whatever I'm dreading.

I'm not sure why, but everything I do involves some form of procrastination. Even if it's something I really want, I really can't help but leave it all to the last minute, then it turns out like ****. Seriously...it sorta sucks.

Once a procrastinator, always a procrastinator.

Well, I erm, well, this will seem weird, but I smash my moniter when I wanna do something online when I should be doing something else. j/k

For real? I just pull the plug to the net, or whatever I'm doing, go to the fuse box, turn that circut off, put a padlock on the little door thing, then give the key to my bro or sis. Then I either read a book, or do what I'm supposed to do.

Personally, I am the king of procastination, but if I really need to do something, I just get away from all distractions. My mum has a shed/studt at the bottom of the garden, not TV, no computer, just heat and light and table. I generally go there to get work done or to finish something intensely important.

Of course, you could always follow the piece of advice that has gotten me where i am now.

Never put off something till tomorrow
That you can ignore completely.

Haha... I forget to mention and I just realized it now. I need the computer for my work but when things are getting boring (which is most of the time) I turn to the net. So I can't go some place with no computer. Big dilemma huh?

You use an internet provider which lets you set like how far you can go on the net? (like AOL's Parent Guardian) Just set the thing for strict restrictions, then you can't go to Otakuboards or something else. ( I think) then, you have no choice but to get back to work.

As my Step-father says, My sister and I are the Definition of the word Procrastination. It's odd really. Either Myself or a friend or one of my parents, has to tell me ( REPEATEDLY) to get back to work. I do this when I'm doing school-work and/or doing chores. ( Bleh. Chores are no fun anyway w/o music)

What I usually do to keep me off of procrastinating is I 'bribe' myself. I tell myself things like ' Get this done, Faster you can go outside' or ' Hurry up and get this done and you can call ( Insert name of friend here)'

So My Two cents is put in . I'm Happy.

OB has been a killer with me and procrastination. I put things off so much, even though I know getting them over and done with is more beneficial. I view it as "Hey, I've got free time now, and if I don't use it, I won't get it". Silly, but hey. So is procrastination.

It feels odd for me if I don't get some good procrastination in before I have to do something serious. I don't know why but most of the time I just can't be bothered to do what ever needs doing ^_^;;

Take me needing a job. I know I need one and so, my parents keep nagging me about it but I just can't be bothered. I have to much procrastination to be doing [Though I'm probs gonna look into a job today -_-]

I am very good at procrastinating. I have been putting off posting in this thread since it was posted. Why was I waiting to post? I have no idea except I just didn't. I will come up with a better excuse later. See, I am good a procrastinating!

I think we are all guilty of procrastination to some degree. Some of us are just better at it than others. A perfect example is how I am on the boards right now instead of doing some much needed work. Everything I do seems as though it is just the thing I am doing so I don't have to do something else. Unfortunately I don't think this is a trait that I will ever get rid of. Oh well, life goes on.

I'm very guilty of procrastination. I still have to go to the hospital where I'm having the baby and look through the birthing room along with finding out where I'm supposed to go when I come to the hospital.

Then I have to find a pediatrician. Just think , I'm due in just under 2 months and I haven't done that yet. I'm a bad mother!

I try really hard to write down what I have to do then get at least one or two things done on that list. For example: On the first of the month I make sure I get any bills that have to be paid by the fifteenth then after that's done I balance my checkbook.

I'm not sure what else to tell you, but it's like ex soldier said: Once a procrastinator always a procrastinator...until the army decides to be stupid and send your husband home a week before the due date and you're going to be induced.

the art of procrastination comes almost naturally to me, I've been practicing it all throughout school and uni, it's bad and sometime can seriously undermine you lifestyle, health and mentality. It's worse than drug because there isn't even an excuse for your silly lifestyle so I advice people to not get into the practice with they lazy half.

Always remember the last minute assingment that you never handed up because it was 2 pages of utter garbage (as opposed to 10 page of actual content demanded...)
