I was in Media Play looking for some new manga to read and perhaps buy when I came upon this manga (and I can't remember the creater)

Cheeky Angel is about this girl who actually used to be a boy. But when he was 9 he ran into this strange wizard, and ended up getting this book as a reward for saving the guy from some other kids.

Inside the book the boy (whose name is Megumi BTW) find this genie who will grant him one wish for free. Megumi wishes to be a man among men, but the geinie pretends to misunderstand and makes him a woman among women. He does offer to change Megumi back into a boy for the cost of ten years from his life. Needless to say Megumi doesn't take the genie up on his offer.

Megumi is understandably in a state of worry and when he/she gets home and tells his mom that he is somehow now a girl his mom just says you've always been my little girl. Apperantly the whole universe has been altered and only his friend (Miki I think her name was) believes her because she was there to see the whole thing happen.

Well anyway, fast forward six years. Megumi and Miki are now fifteen and in middle school. Megumi true to the genie's fulfillment of a misinterpreted wish is becoming a woman among women so all the guys are going crazy over her. Which makes her angry and freaks her out. So she punches a lot of them

This manga has action and some humor. especially all the times when Megumi yells that she's a guy. If you haven't read it, I suggest you do. And if you have read it or heard of it, maybe you can help me clarify a bit more and let me know if I messed something up.

I read some of this. Hiroyuki Nishimori is the mangaka. The artwork is kind of odd - the characters are sort of elongated and look very 2-D - but it's not unappealing. Megumi is very cute (her buddy Miki is even cuter).

This title stacks up very well against what usually passes for shounen comedy these days. The idea is simple but open-ended, and (amazingly enough) it's expressed without resort to fanservice.

Megumi quickly winds up with a sort of fan club. The boys in the fan club all want to go out with her, of course, but what they usually do is try to help Megumi reverse the spell or curse she claims to be under. So pretty much everyone in the story is taking the long way round.

A 50-episode anime adaptation of this series ran in 2002-03. It's kind of cheaply made but it's very funny. Probably the best thing about it is getting to hear Megumi Hayashibara in the lead role, yowling and grunting and using a sort of low-life male dialect.

This series is better known as Tenshi no Konamaiki to poeple like me that have never seen anything resembling an english release.

I've read the manga and thought it was done fairly well, though the anime looked like Korea art rather than Japanese anime, the premise is actually fairly funny and I love gender-bender stories alot.

Having Megumi voice act for the series was like icing on the cake, I couldn't think of a more perfect seiyruu than her.

I am unsure as to whether the series is finish or not? I've never come across the series on the net much and while I know the anime is complete already The anime is suppose to be alot longer...

The manga ran 20-something volumes. 38 of the 50 episodes of the anime have been fansubbed.
