Does anyone read Dragonlance? My favorite Charactors are Tas and Raistlin. My favorite book in the series is Soulforge, which is about Raistlin and the event that helped shape him into the mage that he is today. The book i am currently reading in the series is The Test of The Twins, which is about Raistlin and Caramon. The only thing is that i havent read the first one...
Dragonlance is one of the best series i've ever read and i will continue to read it until i read every last single one of them...

A fellow Dragonlance reader! ^_^ I cant name off the books I've read of dragonlance (there's quite a few) because I only occasionally read the books in order. Amazing how the story can still come together when you read every one you can find, regardless if you have'nt read the first book out of 3, and your trying 2. They stick to the same backround events, so its very consistent. I'm not going to try and read -all- of them... there's a Lot of them. I'll just read all I can get my paws on.

Favorite character(s): Tas (Who -doesnt- like Tas), Dhamon Grimwulf, And Rig Mer'Krel (I think thats his last name).

Reasons: Tas - He's just amazing. Gotta love how kender just steal without noticing, absolutely great.

Dhamon - His story just has so much turmoil, from within himself, and outside forces. That and he's an awesome fighter.

Rig - Throwing daggers is just cool, that and he's basically a pirate... sweet.

I think I like the Dragonlance series because they didnt just pose a world that was totally unimaginable to start. But instead created a world and fleshed it out to the extreme, including minor battles, major battles, numerous apocolypic-like events etc. So eventually, they do seem realistic. Dragons are a fundamental part of many fantasy books, and as such were included. But they didnt stop there, they gave a reason why Draconians exist, and numerous types of Draconians. Little things like the history behind a creature, without taking up a chapter really make the books fun to read.

If you like the Dragonlance series, Try and pick up 'Pawn of Prophecy' by David Eddings, of the 'Belgariad' series. Those remind me somewhat of Dragonlance as the characters are very fleshed out, and the world is amazing. And the hero isnt some wounderful sword-wielding character to begin with. But instead gives a wounderful view of farm-like, and events unfolding until the quest(s) begin. Read it!

Tas doen't steal he 'borrows'! Wow, i've finially found fellow Dragon Lance readers. Every one keeps asking me what a kender is so i thought no one read it. Considering i'm only 12, i think i might be able to read all of the, thought there are at least thirty. Here are my reasons for liking the charactors.

Tas- Tas is just so innocent and the typical kender. I fell kinda sad for him becasue he hasn't seen his parents since he set out on wonderlust. But he's cool and i just loves the stories and the stuff he says

Raistlin- he just kicks butt! I love the books in the Rastlin Cronicals (sp?)! They tell all about those five years he and his brother were seperated from the companions. Did you know
him and his brother were sopposed to be one soul, but thet were too powerful so the gods made them two diffrent ones?
Another one of my favorite charactors is the half kender Scounger from Brothers in Arms. He doesn't borrow like a regular kender, he scoungers. His mother was the kender and he got seperated from her at the age of eight. he doesn't know his real age and one day when he asked his mother how old he was she said, "how old do you want to be" and he said "six" and he started sounting from there.

Dragon lance OWNS HARD! I love it sooo much. My Fav char was Flint, but, they killled him with a heart attack... how lame! God, I know he was old... but to have him die chaseing after that stupid little basterd, who just made things worse, was jsut dumb. I have read the first one, the test of Twins, and am starting on the third one (Cant remeber name as it is!) The problem is, the first book is somewahere around 900 PGs... and I am WAY to lazy to read all that. I also read Middle of Nowhere, it was my favourite out of it all. I am a big fan of the Crossroads books, like when all those Gnomes go in the little Submarine and go on an adventure... awsom. I havn't read any of the backround books yet, but I got my hands on the one with Tanis, and am meaning to read that soon. I liked Kitiara, but she was a bit of a *****, and reminded me too much about my sister, so I was happy when she died! Caramon was ok... but way to trusting. And Tas... Gotta love Tas, in fact! I love every Kender in the series! Even if they were annoying, they rock the ******* khazba!Raistlen... I didn't really like him, he was too... dark. Tanis... too serious, and Laurana was... well... she was ok. My second fav would have to be the Ogre from Middle of Nowhere, just becouse he was kool. The cover art on that book was STUNNING! it toally amazed me, it looked almost real (Except for the whole minatour and ogre part..) Anyway, Dragon Lance is definatly the best. Fizban kicks the ****!

I ADORE the DragonLance books!! I've only had the pleasure of reading the 11 main books written by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman, but I'm keeping both eyes open for more.

My favorite characters are Laurana (as shown in my avatar), Tasslehoff, and Raistlin. Laurana kicked butt at the end of "Dragons of Spring Dawning" and in "Dragons of a Lost Star" (
I was so angry when she died....grrrrrrrrrr.......
), Tas was awesome throughout the series. You gotta love that kender. ^___^ And Raistlin was awesome, but he made me angry sometimes. Bwee, I can't decide which one I like more though. Oooh! And Dalamar! He was cool, but he was around fourth or fifth on my "favorites" list. I didn't like Kitiara [cross]that much[/cross] at all. Her lack of moral and personal standards just disgusts me....>.>; I didn't like Mina either. I hope she's the next to die if they write another book after "Dragons of a Vanished Moon."

I agree with you, SB. Flint's death was lame,
but Elistan's was lamer. I read a commentary the Margaret Weis wanted to kill Elistan somewhere between "Dragons of Winter Night" and "Dragons of Spring Dawning," but Tracy wouldn't let her. He reminded her that he was the only cleric of Paladine on Krynn, and so Margaret decided she wouldn't kill him *yet*. As soon as he got followers she sent him straight to Paladine, though. lol

Yeah, I think they mentioned that in one of the books, Elk.
Just imagine how powerful they would be together! That would be cool and scary at once.
Gotta go. I assure you I'll visit this thread again. ^____^

What does it mean when something/one owns?

Anyway, Dragon Lance is just awesome. A lot of the characters had very lame deaths though. And I have to agree with you, Deedlit. Kit just disgust me! She slept with any man to get what she wanted and she would abondon and kill her own brothers if it would convenice her! I just hate her! Every time she appeared, I hated her more! Lol! Well, whatever, I didn't have to deal with her... much. Well, I'll be sure to come back later!

When something owns, its awesome.

Tas is probably my favorite favorite character of Dragonlance. All Kender in general rock xD

Raislin is awesome because of all his powerful evil magic-ness >:3

And there's Tika (I think that's what it was... the barmaid??). Two words: SKILLET BASHING!

I really need to reread the Dragonlance books though. I hardly remember what happens in all of 'em o_o;;

DragonLance... That takes me back... *Acid Flashback*

I read a lot of them, I was quite in love with them a time ago, when I was a newbie at fantasy I loved them. I read most of the main books but I missed out on most of the side-stories. Tanis was always one of my favourites, because I loved the torn-backround story-type-thing. I also liked Tika because... well... Comon, who doesn't like barmaids? Never liked Sturm because he was to high-and-mighty for my taste, but he did die really well... I never liked Tas or Rast, because, well, one was annoying (Take your guess) and the other was to serious, and also to needy... But my all time favourite...

Flint! Comon, I love dwarves! I liked him because he was annoying, but comically so, but not TO commiically like Tas. I hated how he died though... Heart attack! What a jip! No one dies from heart attacks in Fantasy Novels...

Yeah, that was really lame! Who ever dies of natural causes in a fantasy novel? Well, besides unimportant characters. Flint was a really likeable Dwarf. He was like, one of the best. I liked him alot more than I liked Kit, Sturm, and he was just above Tanis. I really hated Luanara (sp?) in the begining, but then she kind of grew on me.
Tika is awesome! She goes from barmaid to butt kicking warrior in no time flat! Some of the character were just so likeable and some where not. *cough* Kit *cough* Yeah, Dragon Lance is a great series.

Am I the only one who acually doesn't mind Kitiara? All in all I She wasn't my favorite, but I still liked her. except for the whole, sleeping with everyone thing. My favorites have to be Tas, Fizban, Flint, and Raistlen, hands down. I didn't like caramon so much...and Tika I found VERY annoying for some reason.

Who doesn't love the borrowing Kender, and how everyone is such great friends with him. He gets into everything, comepletley on accident. I was guilty of skipping one part to get back to Tas one time. :animeswea

Flint's whole attitude and personality just plain rock. Expecially his friendship with Tas. And the whole sitting under a tree waiting I thought was the best testiment to how deep the friendship was.

Fizban and Tas together in the same place? Nothing but laughs. Even when Fizban's just on his own with the lopside hat, wise words disgused as an old magician's rambelingd, and the grey hat that's always getting lost.

Raistlen. All around, he was my original supreme favorite, all around. This was almost immediatly. No one can ever replace him, and I loved how he acually liked the one gully dwarf.

Speaking of them, did you ever read Flint The King? Caterpaulers! :D

I read the Twins trilogy years ago, ant that got me hooked. I read the main books except for the Dragons of a Summer Flame...and some of the backgrounds. I'm reading the Minitor Wars now. Great books, all of them.

I haven't read Flint the King but I've heard tons of great things about it from my dad. He says it's one of the greatest DragonLance books and that I just have to read it. He was lookung for his copy, but discovered that it got ruined in a flood, which means that now I have to buy a copy of it.

I had actually forgotten about Fizban because I've only read one book with him. He's sooo funny! He's always like, "What? Oh, where'd my hat go?" It's just so funny. All the mages (well, almost all) the mages in DragonLance rock! They're just awesome. And the whole Raistilin becoming Fistandantilus becoming Raistlin thing in Time of the Twins thing was funny. And just picturing a fat Caramon brought a smile to my face. I also really liked Palin, though he was nothing compared to Raistlin. And I liked Caramon's son Sturm, but not really Caramon's son Tanis, well maybe just a little. But I really liked the novella "Wanna Bet?" It was just so funny!

oh yeah. doode. Strum was really awesome and Fizban too. Summer Flame was a pretty cool book too, but it kinda lacked something, but at least it cleared up the issue of Raistlin's daughter. I was really upset at the thought that Raistlin had a daughter. I thought he should stay without children, but definatly take an apprentice. What book was it that had Raistlin teaching Dalamar human anatomy? I heard about it and read a lot of dragonlance books, but i don't remember that one. I would really appriciate iit if someone could tell me. Tas was onther favorite, of course. How can he not be with all the trouble he causes. Caramon is really cool. I know a doode who looks like him and every time i look at him i think of Caramon and just laugh or have this big grin on my face. I mean, Caramon is just so funny.

I've been wondering which book that was too. Never did find out, but some people took it as implying that Dalamar and Raistlin where gay, seeing as how they spen so much time together and all. I never got to finish the legend triology, just never got around to it. but the cronicals are pretty cool. And, suprisingly, Kit's son is actually really cool and another one of my favorite characters. Steel is so cool and his dragon was awesome, which was why I was kinda upset aty the ending of SummerFlame. I was so upset, I actually wore mourning colors for him like I did for Maes Hughes, which was one of the saddest things in the world. I wonder what Caramon and Raistlin looked like as children? Why don't they have someone draw them? Is Elmore still alive, because I love the way he draws. It would be really awesome iif he drew them as children. He should draw a group picture of all the companions as children, although they are different races, so that makes it harder to know there ages at the time another was a certain age and what they were going to look like. But it'd still be cool!

I haven't read those books, but I got 'em written down. From what I hear they're good.

And if you guys like those books, may I make a suggestion? I've been reading the Forgotten Realms books. I'm pretty sure they're alot like the Dragon Lance books, considering I've seen them both in my library, so... I recommend Richard Lee Byers and his Year of the Rogue Dragons books.

So... Yay! Now I have to go to the library!!!
