Guest MangaFreak Posted July 30, 2004 Share Posted July 30, 2004 Ok, there are lots of people who call us christians hypercrits. I'd like to corect them. We are not. Hypercrits are those who sin intensionately while we stumble in but try to get out. And why is it that if one stumbles we all are hypercrits and if all succeed we're all lunitics. Do you realy judge us so harshly? I hear you all saying things about us. Why? What do you have against us? What do we do to you? I mean seriously! Thats pretty much all. That's like saying that everyone has said that all Wiccans are women and all Satanists worship the Devil. Hyposcrisy to me is when you say that you're Christian and then you continously do things that don't seem Christian like pass judgement on other people. Or pretty much when you say something and then do the exact opposite. I doubt that anyone has anything against any of you but it's not like you're some kind of oppressed people who get their shops burned down or their followers thrown into jail without due process. You're a majority. It stands to reason that your actions will be judged a bit more than others. It's like the US Military. I guess. That's all I have to say. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
ColourDeaf Posted July 30, 2004 Share Posted July 30, 2004 I think the problem is that the Christian church has caused so many open problems and conflicts it's hard for people not to have a slightly skewed view of it, especially if they don;t understand it. I for one was brought up in a catholic household, and I can see a fair amount of hypocrisy within the church in the past and present (the crusades, the spanish inquisition, Northern Ireland). It's the same with any large religious base (except possibly bhuddism, but they don't do much anyway), especially the Judeo-Christian and Islamic, because the holy texts allow (and in some cases, justify) the use of extreme violence. The main problem I believe people hae with christianity (and I do not speak of all denominations or people oft he christian faith) is that you can be very closed minded (I feel the same way about most orthodox religions). You can end to believe that you are right and everyone else is wrong "just because," it's a very overbearing attitude to have, and tends to alienate people. Of course, there are groups of christians who are simply hyrpocritical ("love thy neighbour" my arse), and people do tend to focus on negative views of people first and formost. But hey, this might just be the sleep deprivation talking. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I was baptized, but I don't really believe to much in god. What do you mean ONE stumbling? Is that a joke or something? Millions of christians make mistakes, and "sin" daily. So no, not one, but millions stumble daily. You hear us saying stuff? No one has anything against christians, but sometimes christianity seems very hypocritical in the sense that it preaches not to do something, and then goes and does it. Not christianity, but the people who believe in it and preach it. I went to church once. It wasn't all that fun, not that I want water slides in it or anything. :rolleyes: Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

And yes, some people do things like pass judgement but that doesn't make us all like that. Well, in some countries we do... We can't even bring a bible to China. But this was just a clarification to those who say things like that to us. For those who don't, this has nothing to do with you, because you don't. So if you don't then I have no beaf with you. Panada... sorry I forgot. Whatever. Maybe I'll remember next time. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Panda Posted July 30, 2004 Share Posted July 30, 2004
Dude, you've never been to my church! It totally rocks! We have basket ball hoops, pool tables, nentendo and all of the above! I especially love the balance/surfing practice board. And my pastor for the jh is super funny! He tells us jokes through out the servace. Its never longer than 20 minutes and we all hang out and go to our own coffe shop. My church rocks. I go to every servace. Sunday: 1 and 2 Wednesday: the only one. If they had more I'd go. Oh and we have a time in the servace when my pastor plays clips from stupidvideos.com and we all have a good laugh. Its realy tight. Even if you were an athiest and hated things like church you probably would come just for the fun of it. Truthfully, I know cause people actually do that. But realy, Ocean Hills(Comunity Church) rocks! If you live in southern Cali and near laguna nigel or san clemente you guys should look it up!
Welcome to the OtakuBoards MangaFreak. roxybudgy Posted July 30, 2004 Share Posted July 30, 2004 I know for certain that Jehovah's Witnesses aren't allowed to watch anime or read manga because of its content, there are probably some exceptions. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
::Ex-Soldier:: Posted July 30, 2004 Share Posted July 30, 2004
Note my bolds in that. First off, you don't know who's calling Christians hypocrits? Look at my second bold. Buddy, look in a bloody mirror. No one has anything against Christians? Then you go on to say Christianity, the religion, does hypocritical things. Then you try to correct yourself saying "Not Christianity, but the people". You just said no one has anything against Christians. And you're right, all churches should be more like carnivals. [Sorry if that was rant-ful. ] [Who am I kidding, that was completely rant-ful]
Now, where did I say that all christians are hypocrits? The second bold was stating how many christians sin, and know the sin, and yes, their are hypocrits. I myself am not trying to put down christians. I am stating my opinion, do you mind? I said nothing about christians in general in that whole post. Oh wait, maybe that was you putting words in my mouth. :rolleyes: Alright, moving on. I didn't "try" to correct myself. I did. And what I meant was, christianity as a religion is not hypocritical, but a few of the priests, and the believers are. Also, when I said noone has problems with christians, I thought that this was being argued in another thread, so she was clearing it up in a different thread. Maybe I typed it wrong, or maybe you just didn't read right. Anyhow, I found it funny how you commented on my little joke at the end. If you were being sarcastic, it was a joke, so don't cry. :rolleyes: Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
ChibiHorsewoman Posted July 30, 2004 Share Posted July 30, 2004
I went to church once. It wasn't all that fun, not that I want water slides in it or anything. :rolleyes:
My husband and I went to Christmas Mass at my parent's church this past Christmas just to be nice to my mom and my husband ended up falling asleep and then he began to snore. I actually used to bring manga to church and read that during those sermons. So I know people who can sympathize with you on how church is boring. I think the reason that Christian Churches are dwindling is because they're so stuck in their ways and not willing to adjust to change. The Catholic church is one of the worst. The last Vatican council they had was in the 1960's to figure out if women still had to wear hats in church. And the pope is still against birth control and abortion. Ookay. Maybe it's just me, but don't you think that if more people were on birth control there would be less abortions? The problem I have with the Judeo Chirstian faith is that you're supposed to love your neighbor, (many followers do. My mom is an excellent example of a good Christian) but you have so many people out there griping about how homosexuals are the downfall of society and trying to make them strait again. I think it's the same as in any other religion. The people who are extremists ruin it for the rest of the practicioners. I forgot to add one little thing... Religious persecution in all forms is just a fact of everyday life. So suck it up and deal Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Semjaza Posted July 30, 2004 Share Posted July 30, 2004 There's hypocrites within every group. I don't see why it matters. If people are dense enough to label entire groups by those sorts of stereotypes, then that's their problem. I don't really think this would be clarifying anything for people with a shred of intelligence, assuming I could even make out most of the first post anyway.
