ChibiHorsewoman
And why I don't know how well this is going to go over since so many people have an aversion to watching or admitting to watching teen movies. Not me, I don't mind admitting that I like to watch mindless stupidity. It takes my mind off the real world. Well anyway here are my three favorite Teen Movies and bear with me because I can't remember who was in them: 1.) Mean Girls: This was a very good portrayal of high school girls and cliques. I liked all the little add ins while the main character was thinking.
Like when they were in the cafeteria and she was picturing how the animals fought eachother in the jungle and threw herself at that other girl
Also the part near the end when they were doing that trust activity. 2.) 10 things I Hate About You 1999 seemed like the prime year for high school movies and this was probably one of my favorites from that year. I'm not sure if this is true, but I think it was somewhat based on Shakesphere's The Taming of the Shrew. One of the best parts was when the father made the girls put on the pregnancy suits before they went to the party. 3.) Never Been Kissed Pretty much the only movie on the list where I can remember who played the main chracter (Drew Barrymore) It was cute and kind of freaky. Especially since she was in her 30's and tricked everyone into thinking she was a teenager. Well, there are my three. Anyone else brave enough to admit that they watch teen movies?
Vash IDK
Wow, I don't think I like any teen movies. I hate ALL Agent Cody Banks movies Anything with Hillary Duff, or any other Disney inspired actor or actress Any movie with the words "Spy" or "Kids" in it. Does that cover everything
Semjaza
I'd not watch any of that stuff listed so far. There are good teen movies. Most of them seem to be from the 80s. The Breakfast Club and Sixteen Canles rock, end of story.
Vash IDK
Okay, you're right. I guess I hate most of the NEW teen movies. The only things these movies ever seem to talk about is guys falling for the least imaginable girls, OR kids saving the planet and so on and so forth. The reality of all these movies really isn't very appealling. It's like watching something that never changes it's stroyline.

I can't take teen movies, and seeing the commercials is usually enough for me to dismiss it as cheesy ****.
Vash IDK
Exactly. But Unfortunately this thread only allows three movies per post. :) There are so many more. Oooh!! I forgot, OLSEN TWIN MOVIES!!! That's another bad category of movies. Fortunately, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen are playing the sympathy card and are out of the Movie making business for a while. Thank goodness for that. :)
future girl
Spy Kid and Agent Cody Banks and things like that aren't aimed for teens. Those are thing my seven and four year old nephews wants to see. However, I haven't seen a recent teen movie I can remember. I always really liked Pretty in Pink although the ending really pisses me off.
She totally should have ended up with Ducky.
Molly Ringwald's teen movies kicked some major ***, I think.
DeathBug
I've only seen one teen comedy that I've really, really liked, and that was EuroTrip[. Sadly, no one around seems to understand the comedic genious of the film; at least, no one ever resoponds when I talk about it. I wanna' see Old School and Road TRip, now.
DeadSeraphim
I'm always partial to Not Another Teen Movie. It takes so many plot devices from other teen comedy flicks and points out how absurd they really are. And it does it in style. ;) Hmm... Ferris Bueller's Day Off is also a good teen flick, even if its dated. There is some classic moments in that film, but a combination of tiredness and not-fresh-in-my-mindness has erased them all from my brain. The scene where he
picks up his girlfriend, whlst posing as her Dad, and gives her a full faced pash infront of the principal
sticks out in my mind though. Thats about the only teen flicks I like that. the American Pie series never real did it for me, and most of the teen 'comedies' you see advertised are as predictable as anything. Hevn
I like Never Been Kissed. It kinda sums up highschool life. I'm also entertained with teen comedy like Scary Movie and American Pie. Those movies are just hilarious. On the other hand, I just have to say that all other movies I haven't mentioned wasted my time. They just keep on repeating the stories and making it distinct by adding minor twists. It just doesn't work for me. I'm gonna have to see The Prince and Me though. I like Cinderella themes. ^_^x
ChibiHorsewoman
I'm gonna have to see The Prince and Me though. Julia styles actually played a completely different role in the Prince and Me than she did in Mona Lisa Smile. Wait until you hear the guy's first words to her character, you'll die. Another good teen movie was Footloose with Kevin Bacon. Yeah it's definately dated, but I think most of the good teen movies took place in the 80's. My biggest question on that one though is...at the end when everyone started to dance how is it that everyone was so coordinated? But the fight scene in the bar made up for the strangeness in the ending. And sorry, but the Olsen twins haven't taken pity on anyone yet by finishing their movie career. New York Minute is out and staring them. Personally I think they should have stopped after it takes two and they were still cute. Still mentioning three movies hasn't killed anyone yet.
Secily
Well, I thought that Scary Movies 1 and 2 were funny, but also disgusting. My favorite though, was definitely The Breakfast Club! I totally recommend it to everyone! There was a lesson behind it...Everyone is a part of something in highschool, and these groups have different classes, the jocks and prom queens at the top, followed by the bad ***, the brain, and the strange girl...Each of the teens in the movie represented their own group, and it was entertaining to see how they all interacted with eachother... Gavin
I'm not a big fan of teen movies, in fact I pretty much think they're a dire affair, you watch one once and you think "Yeah that was funny enough", you watch it a second time and you think "What a load of shite". I've seen maybe ten or twelve teen movies and they've been mostly hit and miss, some have been funny enough while others make me want to get a car and mow down the makers. Three Favourite Teen Films: (I think this is a stretch but anyway) #1: Scary Movie III - By far the best in the series, the humour was a good deal better and they managed to spoof other film storylines in a slightly less predictable way. The comic ability of Charlie Sheen and Leslie Nielson was great most of the time and brought the series some mark of respectability. #2: Ferris Bueller's Day Off - An 80s film as already mentioned by a few other people, there was just something about this film that I enjoyed that hasn't been stolen and bastardised in recent times. Matthew Broderick does a good job in the role. 3#: Road Trip There was just something about this film that makes me laugh any time I watch it, I can't exactly explain what but the humour is at time so off-the-wall that it deserves the number three spot. Three Least Liked Teen Films: #1: Scary Movie 2 - There was nothing I liked about this film, the humour was tired and the plot was just complete crap. The characters are all one-dimensional and it just seems like a rehashed version of Scary Movie 1 in a different place. #2: Not Another Teen Movie As much as I loathe this film it doesn't get the top spot. I found this to be a mixed affair of chuckle once and then choke on you're own sense of wonder as to who in their right mind would like this movie. #3: American Pie (Any of them) I can say without any sense of doubt that this is one of the worst series of films I've ever seen. The characters are all cliché in a terrible way, played by actors who would be better at performing brain surgery. The story is awful and predictable and I was only too happy to see the ending credits.
Manic Webb
In risk of going against the subject and theme of this thread, I'm going to name a lot more than 3 movies I liked. Anything by John Hughs. That includes The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, and to a lesser extent, Pretty in Pink. I'm sorry, but PiP was ruined for me when
she didn't end up with Ducky. I mean, come on! Ducky!
I also like movies starring John Cusack, like One Crazy Summer and Say Anything. His roles as Hoops and Lloyd really set a standard for "unlikely hero" type leads in teen movies. Moving on to the 1990s... Ten Things I Hate About You was not only a creative way to put Shakepeare in a modern setting (unlike a certain Baz Luhrmann film which shall remain nameless), it was as funny as all get-out. I loved it. Can't Hardly Wait. I know what some of you are thinking (Jennifer Love Hewitt movies bite). I just loved the way this movie shifted through several characters' stories. You get an entire graduating class at a party, and you get to see what some of them are there for. Some for revenge. Some to confess their feelings. Some simply to get their yearbook signed. A couple of characters end up finding themselves by the end of the night, and some you realize are just screwed.
EVA Unit 100
Here is my list, although I have a different perspective of what makes a movie a teen movie (my definition: stuff that teens actually LIKE!): Best: 1. Lord of the Rings (entire trilogy) 3. Princess Mononoke 2. The Matrix (original) Worst: Anything on the other worst lists LOTR, Mononoke, and The Matrix obviously don't go by your definitions of "teen", but since teenagers think they're cool, it makes them a lot more teen-oriented than Spy Kids, anything with Hillary Duff, and the Olsen Twins (come to think of it, those types of movies were really aimed at kids ages 10 and under as opposed to being for teens).
