Dagger
Yeah, I was afraid to post because I didn't know when classes were supposed to start. ^_^;; You're probably the best candidate for getting things moving anyway, so I'm looking foward to your next post. ~Dagger~
Shinmaru
I agree with Dagger. The only reason I was holding back on posting was that my character was pretty much done for the day. I was just waiting on someone to start up the next day so that I could begin my routine again. I think you're obviously the best candidate for defining when the next day starts and all that, heh. Put some control into this RP, Solo! :p
Gavin
Good I thought this needed an old metaphorical kick in the trousers to get it going, though I must admit that I'm a little lonely without a room-mate, perhaps being the evil rich-guy wasn't a great idea. Still we've got a party coming up on Friday, which should be a good laugh for all concerned, and a good way to get people posting more often. If you had any ideas on where you want this to go Hugo I think it might help give the RPG an overall premise.
Solo Tremaine
*brushes dust off* I don't wish to sound rude, but I'm a little concerned by the lack of posts the RPG's had. Is there a particular issue that people are having problems with? I understand school's just come back in and there are various other factors that come into play, personal or practical (heck, even I haven't been posting myself of late- if that's a concern then I can't apologise enough, heh ^_^; ) and I do understand, but I'd have thought there'd be a tad more activity, especially considering the amount of people accepted. If there's a big problem I'd rather know what it was o_o; I'm also open to any suggestions as to how to make things flow more quickly. It's not the kind of thing that really needs a turn-based system, but if you want there to be a shorter time-frame that the RPG takes place in (say, a term rather than a year), then that's fine too. Just say. Please ^_^;
Dagger
I'm going to post soon-ish, but right now I'm a bit burned out in terms of writing (due to a bunch of real-life stuff I have going on at the moment). If you'd like my character to do something specific, just drop me a PM or something. At the moment I couldn't come up with an original idea to save my life. -_- ~Dagger~
Arcadia
Just a thought, but part of the slowness right now might be because nobody's quite sure how to proceed with the classes. I know at least that I'm a little hesitant to push anything forward because I don't know if you've got any particular ideas about how it should run, how long the classes should be, etc. etc. Other than that, though, you already know why I've been a little ... inactive ... lately. T.T;;
Solo Tremaine
Yes, I know. I'm not going to push anyone if they're unable to post for a while. Ultimately I just need to know if there's anything I can do in the mean time to be making things run smoother/more quickly, so that when people can post the whole thing can move at a better pace. If anyone feels they want to drop out, it'd be nice to know that too. PMs are fine. With regards to the classes- the length and times of each of the lessons are in the timetable at the beginning of this thread. Each block is 50 minutes, and some are in double blocks (Mech Combat has three to itself all in one group). What I'll do is make a list of which characters are in which classes so people know who they have to interact with, and I'll try and give a brief summary of what the various subjects involve. But other than that I'm not fussy about what the classes are about. Feel free to be as inventive as you like, heh. I'll step in if it's drastically unsuitable, but it's not crucial.
Gavin
I agree with Arcadia here, I'd have posted more often only I wasn't exactly sure how this was to proceed, I'd hate to have someone write up a really good post and then have to scarp it because of me. A few guidelines are always helpful for those stories which are totally original in design, though in saying that I'm hoping others might involve me a little as I'm becoming a bit of a loner...
Hevn
I was actually waiting for the PE and Hair and Beauty classes before I post anything for my own class (Creative Writing). I don't know if I should wait for someone to post anything about those classes or if I should just post anyway. But yesh, Arcadia's right. I guess members think it will be too aggressive to handle a certain class on their own. ^_^;
Shinmaru
I want to post in a bit, but I have a question I'd like to have answered first, if you don't mind. According to the schedule, there's another Villain Ethics class right after the first one. I'm wondering if those who have Villain Ethics on their schedule are required to attend both classes, or just one of them. Might be a silly question, but oh well lol. As soon as that's answered, I'll get right back to posting :) EDIT: Ah, I see. Thanks for clearing that up for me ^_^
Solo Tremaine
It's based on a class system we had in our Sixth Form, heh- sometimes you'd have one single lesson that extended over two periods: so everyone who does Villain Ethics has to attend both, as they're both the same extended class. That's the same for any double-period on the timetable. As you can imagine, some subjects really need this kind of length in order to get any work done, especially those which have a large practical or complicated basis. And considering the students, things get much more hectic, heh ^_~
Hevn
We have that kind of class system, too, back in highschool. Welp, school's been quiet. And it isn't supposed to be. So I want to know if anybody's going to post anything about PE and Hair & Beauty. If no one will, I want to ask permission to post for Creative Writing, which is 4 hours ahead of the current time ...to get the story moving. ^_^
Ezekiel
Yes! You really should do your Creative Writing class, I don't know about anyone else, but I think it would be fairer on you anyway. There isn't much you can do unless your teaching, so I think you should go ahead. Of course, the others may have something planned?.
Solo Tremaine
Considering the speed at which the RPG's currently moving at, I'm giving people free rein to do what they want with relation to classes, so long as the times are displayed at the top of people's posts. But, as I said I would do earlier, I have a list of subjects and wat they entail: Villain Ethics: The study of villains, their theories, history and practical applications thereof. Includes units on 'What makes a Villain?' and 'Famous Villain Victories'. This course also involves how to create evil plans. Principal Okari's subject of choice- he created it himself and is determined that in three years' time, every single student in the school will be following this as their primary subject. Physical Education: Education, physical style. Quite a no-brainer, this involves classes (often divided into male and female- the boys are given some subsidiary teacher while Master Ooguchi takes the females off for intensive training) in which students play sports. Anything goes, pretty much. Hair and Beauty: Anime Stereotypes (i.e. 'Unusual Students') have anime hair, and in order to keep it in perfect condition, there have to be specialists who can shape it into a very specific, elaborate style. people who study this are either interested in becoming hairdressers, or simply want to take care of their perfect hairstyles. Creative Writing: Exactly what it says it is. Considering the nature of a lot of the students in the Academy, this class was created as a way of passifying some of the more aggressive students into venting theirfrustrations through a different medium than blowing things up. It's become highly successful. Transformation: Some students wish to be able to harness the ability to Transform into other beings, either become stronger humans ot turn into some weird creature, and this helps them gain the knowledge and understand the processes behind it. Practical transformations don't begin until all students have undergone a series of assessments to determine whether they're physically and mentally ready to undergo the rigorous practical activities in the second term. Counselling: The Academy is legally bound to provide its students with counselling, but since many counsellers have been... less than successful with their jobs, this class give others the chance to help their fellow peers by helping them train in therapy. This class runs in conjunction with the actual Student Counselling service- lessons are often case studies in which a particular student is invited in to talk to the class about their problems and the class in turn offers suggestions as to what the problem might be and ways to cope. Geography: Self-explanatory, pretty much. Like what you'd expect from a normal Geography class, except there's an added module on how the Earth's geography compares to that of the neighbouring planets/alternative dimensions. And they are there, as many unusual students can attest to. Bishieology: A specialised branch of Psychology merged with Media Studies with particular interest in people classes as Bishies. This was brought to the Academy by an extremely hyperactive female teacher (who shortly disappeared in a freak bathroom incident), and although it's regarded as a doss subject, it remains incredibly popular throughout the school. Principal Okari dislkies it heavily, claiming it't too 'cute' to be on the School Register. Nobody listens to him, though, as the students all get to ogle mech pilots. Monster Control w/ Applied Spirit Taming: Monster partners are (or were) incredibly prolific around the area of the Academy, so it was decided that the students who owned one (and the monsters who owned the students) should learn how to co-operate with one another and learn the most effective caretaking techniques, including deviations on child-raising theories by Piaget. Unfortunately over the years the number of monster/partner students in the Academy has fallen dramatically, so it's thought this class may not be running by next year. It also includes how to befriend, summon, tame and capture Spirit Beasts, which often unwittingly twin themselves with students lost in the woods at night and have no way of leaving them until some quest or another is fulfiled. Metalwork and Forgery: The creation and manufacture of weapons and armour in the Academy's workshops. Students are taken through a design process; including market research, ergonomic vs practical application, initial design, prototype testing and design refinement to end up with a piece of equipment suitable for a mass market or specific target buyer. Engineering: Similar to Metalwork and Forgery- it contains a unit for designing Mechanised systems, but mainly focuses on the repair and study of Mechs and other assorted vehicles. History: Includes a section on the period after the destruction of the world, and the planet's subsequent recovery. Maths: There are very few students who enjoy Maths classes. The teacher's rumoured to be at least 5,000 years old. Use of Oversized Weapons: While PE covers sport in general, this gives Metalwork students the chance to use their own designed weaponary in a practical battle setting. This teaches students balance, battle technique and how to minimise self-injury. English: The study of the English Language. Japanese: The study of the Japanese Language. Magic Casting: The history, theory and practical application of magic casting. It includes classes on basic essential spells and technique regulation. Extra Sports: For those who can't suffer enough PE, this is more of it. In thish class, though, students often get to choose whcih physical activity they wish to partake in for a few weeks, and then get the chance to do it if Master Ooguchi feels like it. Hero Ethics: The study of heroes, their theroies and their psychology. Includes units such as 'What Makes a Hero?' and 'Anti-Hero Psychology'. Kendo: A single kendo class set aside in lieu of a particular student's ability to massacre anyone when he takes hold of a sword. A series of one-on-one lessons taught by a poltergeist, as it's the only way someone won't get incredibly hurt. Mech Combat: On Wednesday and Sunday afternoons, the Mech fields are set aside for Ouroborous to teach students how to pilot mechs effectively and the applied physics behind their proper functioning, including sections on Mech repair. it's just occured to me that I never included a Science subject. Bugger. Anyway, they are the lessons. There are also various afterschool clubs, including Combined Cadet Force (Monday), Drama (Tuesday), Games Club (Thursday), Cookery (Friday), Sports Team Try-outs (Saturday).
Shinmaru
I cannot tell you how big of a help that this is, Solo ^_^ I was a tad apprehensive about doing the classes, but now that I know what each of them entail, I should be okay from here on out. Arcadia
It's not like science is incredibly important anyway. >_>;; This list is definitely cool, though, and very handy, as Shinnie-poo already mentioned. It also gets me thinking ahead. I'll have to go back and check what Aya's exact classes are and then make a list to see who I've got what with. As a preliminary poll-type-thing, though, is anybody interested in doing/planning something [strike]destructive[/strike] exciting with me? Edit: By the way, 'hevn, if you've got something planned, go for it. I've got Hair and Beauty, but I haven't planned anything for the class.
Hevn
I finally finished my post. XP Anyone who belongs in Creative Writing class can post anything about their seatwork (...or just about anything you will). You can volunteer or let the professor call you. Sorry for the lame topic, heh. I couldn't think of anything else. But the "Why I love/love to..." phrase need not be all positive like Why I love jelly beans or something like that. It could be Why I love to get on the professor's nerves or Why I love killing pigeons. I hope that'll be alright Solo. ^_^;;
Ezekiel
Question? I don't mind, but are we writing the whole essay or can we just come up with a paragraph or two? I can't believe you took my favourite topic to write about! Why I love to get the Professors nerves has IMRIC KAGUSHI written all over it, heh.
Hevn
As the professor said, it's just a warm up so even one paragraph will do. Also, it need not be an essay. It won't be called Creative Writing if I restrict students on writing essays so you can write poems or anything. ^_~ And I personally suggest that you write that topic and volunteer to read it in class, lol. Ezekiel
I think that's a good idea, Solo. The reason this RP is slowing down seems to be that everyone is confused about where they are O_o I know I am. Making all lessons compulsory will definitely sort that out.
Solo Tremaine
Well, I was hoping for a slightly bigger response, but unless anyone seriously objects I'll make all lessons compulsory and post a revised timetable for the days to follow. I don't mind the RPG being open to wherever anyone wants to take it, but I may re-open sign-ups if it proves to be moving too slowly. So long as I know what people want to do, I'm happy that we can get somewhere, heh. UPDATE: I have the amended timetable here. All lessons are now mandatory, as this clears up problems with some people having lessons and others not having lessons. I'll be sending out PMs within the next few days to all participants to make sure they still want to do it. I won't be offended if you don't, heh. I just want to know where everything stands in relation to the RPG. If anyone has any concerns, please say so. That said, here's the timetable ^_^;
Gavin
Well this does clear up things Hugo, I was having major trouble with posts and then the whole thing seemed to die off rather quickly. To be honest the idea of making all leasons compulary seems to be an idea thta might need work, certain characters might not take to the likes of Bisheology (if it is what I'm lead to believe it is) or Hair and Beauty. Just my thoughts on the subject.
Solo Tremaine
I did ask if anybody minded some time ago, but Methuselah was the only one who answered, heh. If you really want, certain characters can be exempt from certain lessons for certain reasons; the Kendo lesson is specifically for Soushi, while everyone else does Cookery. But either way, if characters don't like lessons, it should hopefully make things more interesting anyway. Not all school lessons are fun ^_~
