Ninjaman
I just saw this movie for the first time yesterday. A friend of mine told me I reminded him of a character from Office Space when I said "Greeeeeaaaat." one time and I had been curious about the movie since. Weird, I know. o_O;; Anyway, this movie was pretty funny. I've never had a job, but it's supposedly said that a lot of people who work can compare with the main characters in the movie. Speaking of the characters, I thought the characters were very well done. They just felt real and the dialogue was pretty entertaining. I liked how Peter said that
if he had a million dollars, he'd do absolutely nothing. Something about that line just felt inspiring, I dunno.
My only nitpicks about the movie was that I found there wasn't much of a plot. Heh, one character, Michael, said that
the crime that they were about to pull in which they put a virus in the company's computers was done before in a Superman movie, lol. At least they weren't afraid to admit that their plan isn't exactly original.
I also noticed that Jennifer Aniston's character, Joanna, was hardly on screen. I was disappointed because I liked Joanna. Besides the not-so-special storyline, I liked this movie and it was pretty funny. Anyone else seen this movie? Semjaza
The movie doesn't need an amazingly complex storyline because it wouldn't suit this sort of movie. It does what it should and nothing more. I think that's a nice quality for it, personally. I absolutely LOVE this film. I bought the DVD years back and I watch it rather often to this day. Every character is absolutely perfectly casted. I believe all of them, even the most ridiculous of them seems realistic. I also love the use of music in this film. Random gangsta rap style songs thrown into what is really a movie about a bunch of computer geeks... and it just works. The opening with Michael Bolton in the car as the guy selling stuff on the street walks by just sums all of it up so well heh. I think that movie has more funny quotes than anything else I can think of.

My favorite was when Peter and the others were destroying that machine in the field. Now the song in that scene was perfect in my opinion.
terra
Office Space is completely one of those classics. Uh, you know, not quite along the same lines as When Harry Met Sally or anything ... (which I haven't seen ...) but that brand of classic comedy. Any of my friends can quote a line, and any of my other lines will look at him/her and go, "OFFICE SPACE." It bridges gaps. ... But really, it's hysterical, and it does get a little funnier once you have worked in an office. My friends are forever saying "I couldn't get something to fax today and I felt just like I was in Office Space" ... it really does touch on the unfortunate office life of cubicle dwellers everywhere. And like you guys said above, their music choices are perfect. "Damn It Feels Good to Be a Gangster" is hysterical in its ridiculousness ... there's that one verse about him being the President or something ...
Every character is absolutely perfectly casted. I believe all of them, even the most ridiculous of them seems realistic.
Really? Even Milton? I find him a little unbelievable ... like a lot unbelievable.

Balmon
"That's my stapler.... my... my... that... that... my...my.. that's my stapler." Sorry - that's the line, and other ones like that, are the ones that keep running throuhg my head from that movie. Was a bizarre trip, no? I absolutely loved that movie, which is odd because I walked in thinking it was going to be a bust, but... and contrary to what Semjaza said... it's allure for me WAS the fact that the characters were portrayed in such a way... almost like it WAS animated. But it wasn't done outlandishly so... but certainly enough so for me to think it. I also think it was just the perfect ultra-version of cubicle life - and probably not that far from it. This sort of parody of the white-collar job was exactly what North America needed in.... 1999? phil
