Erika
*grumbles* Why? WHY?! Why must we endure these things? http://www.us.playstation.com/content/ogs/scus-97319/site/ This's the link Japan gave me for this, uh. . .thing those crazy people call EyeToy. "What is EyeToy?" I'll tell you what it is. It's something a bald, isolated cancer patient in an adult home would get a kick out of. Actually, it's a camera-thing you stick on your TV and you act stupid in front of it. No, I don't mean you strip and flail your arms around, that would hurt people both mentally and physically. You just simply-- --gah. Just click on the link, dagnabbit, lol. :p So pretty you're on-screen and you're "the star" of the. . .uh, game. (Okay, I'm convinced that there're still people nowadays who forget what video games actually are.) ". . .then you use your arms, legs, head. . .in fact any part of your body to play! Cool, isn't it?" Right. And you use your head?! I hope they mean brainpower, cause other than that, I can only imagine!! Wait a minute--what am I saying? Brainpower isn't necessary to play this game at all. But then again, it's not like you can detach your head and fling it around at the incoming ninjas on the screen. And what else would you use to play the game? Your foot? Ok, I should stop here before I get into anything more graphical. Any comments? Queries? Any new information? Cause I'd like to know more about this freak of gaming and I'm too lazy and unplugged to look it up right now. :p
Japan
From what I've seen on X Play, you can use your head to break boards in the martial arts game. You can also use your head to clean a dirty window and also to keep balloon's in the air in the game as well. I also saw on the show that you can make your own 80's music video, and pop bubbles as well. How stupid is that?
James
Haven't you played with an EyeToy? It's...kinda cool, but more a novelty than anything else, I think. I played one game where you have to fight with an on-screen character. And as you punch in mid-air, you actually hit the on-screen character. It's pretty interesting, but I don't think I could stand to play it for more than ten minutes. I would say that EyeToy is more something that younger kids will enjoy. But I can't imagine adults getting hours of fun out of it (unless Sony starts making porn-related games, which I strongly doubt).
TheShinje
To me, Eye Toy was a novelty, soemthing that I looked at, and went "ah, that's neat" the first time I played it, and, ironically, the last time I played it. It's novel "Insert-player-into-game" wears thin after a few turns, at least it did for me, not worth shelling out $100 bucks for, anyway. If I were to hire some kind of eye toy based game in the near future, it would be SingStar, give me a chance to practise for New Zealand Idol lol. Erika
Good God, what's this world coming to? You can wipe dirty windows with your head? And this whole thing is 100 bucks?!?! 'Scuse me but I can buy a two new games with that much. To save people those precious Benjamins, I think they should have an EyeToy joint in every town. :p No, wait. . . . *scratches head* I take that back. *prevents self from tearig after James in result of bringing up porn*
Shwa
I'm not much into the Eye-Toy thing really, it looks nice and all but doesn't really interest me into getting it and paying a lot of money for something that looks like a web-cam. Besides, they made a game of that related to DDR.....that just makes me mad :flaming: 'cause it looks absolutly stupid and has horrible graffics to it. ~Laters
Morpheus
Okay, a few things to clarify: Eyetoy: play is $50 new with the camera. It contains all of the aformentioned games(ninja, wishy washy). Eyetoy: groove is a collection of Lots of songs that play to musical minigames. It is basically a less chalenging DDR with unique gameplay. It is $50 with camera and $30 without. Eyetoy is like mario party: It really sucks by yourself and only has about 30 minute shots at multiplayer fun. But you miss the point of eyetoy entirely. it's not about having a deep, gratifying, or otherwise interesting experience. Sony is saying,"we have this game that you control with your body. No buttons to memorize, and no learning curve." Their trying to get people that think gaming is hard or takes hours to get into it. My little brother is 3 and I'm in high school, but he always wants to play a game with me and tries to help me with one of my guncons. But when I get eyetoy in a couple of months, he will be able to really help me and actually play and see himself on the screen doing something. That is what eyetoy is all about. Vicky
EyeToy might not be fun for most older people, but my little cousins seem to enjoy it. I'm not in anyway saying people who play with EyeToy are little kids, I just think it was designed for younger children mostly. EyeToy is pretty fun, and I enjoyed it until I lost the damn thing. It's meant to be fun. It's not serious stuff. It's not like a game of Red Faction, it was designed to have yourself a laugh with your friends maybe and even sometimes make a fool of yourself. You wouldn't exactly go into a crowd of unknown people and show off your EyeToy skills, lol. My big brother plays with the EyeToy, and he's 25. The poor guy's not insane or likes to play kiddie games, he just enjoys having a laugh. EyeToy could be interesting. They might bring out better games than they already have, you never know. But basically everything I really wanted to say is in the first paragraph, so I'll leave that at that.
Semjaza
I think the thing is pretty interesting. It's not amazing in any way, but it's a nice waste of time. Personally, I'm growing tired of all the games on PS2 that require me to invest tons of time and thought into them. Something like EyeToy is a nice alternative. And it's only like $50 here. I've never seen it going for $100.
BlueYoshi
I'm glad that Sony released the EyeToy, and it's definitely not a bad thing. Hopefully further developments can be extracted from it to upgrade certain features in games. For example, the whole ordeal could somehow be applied to a FPS of some sort to enhance the gameplay aspects of it. Surely it'll give a rough idea, but nothing too serious at this stage. There has already been this kind of implantation in a few arcade games, like Time Crisis and this one platform where you swing the hilt of a sword at the censors to produce a slashing movement in-game (the name's lost me). These games may not have the best graphics, or the best storylines, but they are purely fun to play, and as long as that little piece of consumer satisfaction level is jarred in, then Sony have accomplished their goal with the EyeToy, I think.
TheShinje
And it's only like $50 here. I've never seen it going for $100.
Currency markup, I assume. Every new game goes for about $100-120 NZD over here, whereas in America it goes for about $50 American.. I can only assume this is to make sure valuable profits aren't lost on the currency conversion.
Burori
Just to clearify. I own one for one reason and one reason only, it keeps my handicap sister busy. She enjoys it and it saves us the (sp?) agrevation from her constant screams. Other than that I tried it once on the game James meantioned where you fight a robot....The bad news out of eyetoy is that if you played as long as I had to...you get sore muscles. Syk3
My brother got the EyeToy last Christmas, and after trying it out for a day, we really haven't gone back to it other than one occasion when my friend asked to play it. It looks sleek on top on my TV, for sure, but I don't get a whole lot of enjoyment out of the game other than a a few laughs. Could be kind of funny if a lot of my friends came over and played it. There is one thing that I'm surprised no one else mentioned that actually makes me really glad that I own an EyeToy. According to the trailer and different news bits everywhere, EyeToy will be compatible with the upcoming DDR: Extreme USA, which creates different modes users can play. You can play a regular game with the EyeToy image in the background, you can move away leaves so that you can see the arrows, and you can hit circles as they float up the side of the screen, as well as participate in a number of seperate mini-games altogether. What's good about these additions with the EyeToy, in my opinion, is that it gives your arms a workout in addition to your legs. ;)
