Heero watched her walk away, looking down at his bandaged hand he touched it gently, he knew he owed Kelsey for doing this for him

'I...always hear her scream...I see her everytime I close my eyes....I still feel the pain as if it only happened yesterday....' he said, Kelsey stopped and turned around and looked at him, she watched him lean against the wall then slide down to the floor where he rested his arms on his knees which were bent upwards, Kelsey approached him slowly and sat down

'Who is she?' she asked wondering if it was his lover

'My mother...her screams...her tears...the blood...it haunts me...,' he whispered, 'And my fathers plea for them not to hurt her...., they....they....,'

At that moment Heero took off leaving Kelsey in shock still sitting on the floor,

Heero ran as hard as he could to try and forget the memories that pounded in his head, stopping under a tree on the far side of the school grounds he dropped to his knees and clutched his head as memories flowed in and out of his head over and over again, he tryed to settle them down but they throbbed harder sending immense pain through his head

Kelsey sat there regretting saying anything. She knew now that his past wasn't only something that involved lost, but it was something that haunted him

Did I do the right thing? she asked herself.

Just as she was standing up, the two boys from earlier cornered her.

"We're not through with you yet."

And then out of nowhere,

"Is there a problem, Boys?"

OOC: And no, she's not going to die. so no one kill her please.

Cat had left her room to walk around. Once she was out side Cat saw two boys cornering a girl. Cat walk over and said "Is there a problem, Boys?" They look at her. No one had ever heard her speak. She smiled as they stared. "Well?"said Cat. The Boys were so shock that they ran away. Cat look at the girl and said nothing. She begain to walk away when the girl said '' Thank you." Cat had never been thank before not even in class by the teacher. She did know what to do. She turn and look at the girl.

?Thanks. I guess I should be more careful.?

?I think you should.? Said Cat. She patted her blade and smiled a little. ?And it doesn?t hurt to have something like this either.? Cat started to turn around.

What is it with people and helping me anyway? Kelsey thought. She smiled again and put her hand out.

?I?m Kelsey.? She said

?Cat.? She said. Kelsey noted the sadness and relief in her voice. She turned around and walked away.

I think I made a friend. Kelsey chuckled at the thought.

She walked past the building for a while when she saw Mr. Van leaning against the fence. Kelsey decided to go up and talk to him. ?Mr. Van??

He looked at Kelsey and smiled. ?Yes Kelsey??

?Is something wrong??

?Why don?t you tell me??

Kelsey looked at him with a tinge of confusion. ?I don?t know what you mean.?

?Kelsey, why do you think Heero helped you? Heero doesn?t do anything for anyone. ESPECIALLY give them the time of day.?

?I don?t know.? Kelsey had been wondering the same thing all day. ?Maybe it?s because I try to make it my business to get to know him. Sometimes, if we wait for someone to open up to us, we?re doing harm in not taking action. Why??

Mr. Van turned around and leaned over the fence again. ?Is it really that simple??

?Mr. Van, is something bothering you??

He fell silent and just watched the school. ?No, it?s just that Heero doesn?t care what happens to anyone. You saw that in the case with those two boys. They weren?t right in what they did, but was Heero?s solution any better??

Kelsey didn?t know what to say. She knew that she wanted to stick up for Heero, but for what? She knew he trusted her on some level, but how far did that trust actually go.

?I think Heero is more complicated than any of us even know right now, Mr. Van. And I wonder if it?s right of us to question the actions of another person. To say there are better ways to handle things isn?t fair.?

?But in order to change the events in the future, Kelsey, one has to realize their mistakes and change it, in order for history not to repeat itself.?

?But can you honestly say that what he did had no benefits whatsoever??

He sighed. ?No. I guess not.? He smiled at the young girl and continued staring at the school.

OOC: Ok...now i'm confused about whats going on here...but i guess it's all good?

Heero fell backwards, 'Why did i help her?...I hardly know her....why?....I've got to get her out of my head...I don't understand...whats going on,'

Heero sat up and looked around, his head still throbbed as he stood up and began walking back to his dorm room, he didn't realize that he kept rubbing his bandaged hand

'I see you got your hand bandaged,' said Mr Van with a smile as he lent against the wall

Heero looked at him and was about to carry on when Mr Van stopped him

'Heero wait,' called Mr Van, Heero stopped and looked over his shoulder at him, 'I've known you ever since you were young and not once have you ever done anything like this,'

'What are you talking about!,' growled Heero as he frowned

'Kelsey...I'm talking about Kelsey...Why'd you help her?' he asked

'I just felt like hitting someone,' replied Heero seriously as he turned around

'I think it goes deeper than that...I think you may have a soft spot for her,' smiled Mr van

'What!, Never....I have no soft spots for anyone! I have more important things to think about like my training!, so i suggest you get that out of your mind right now!,' growled Heero as he raised one of his swords to Mr Vans chin

'Hey, Hey settle down,' smiled Mr Van calmly, 'You don't need to go all war like on me...I'm just saying, there'll be alot of talk around the school about today and if i thought like that then you can guarantee that others will think that same,'

Heero put his sword away,
'They can think what they like!,' said Heero coldly, 'As long as they don't say it around me,'

Mr Van watched Heero walk off and disappear around the corner, Mr van smiled and walked off

Heero hated what Mr Van had said, He noticed students whispering as they looked at him, he stared at them as if he were going to kill them if they said anything and they shut up and looked the other way.

OOC: Lol, Yeah, everything?s Good

Kelsey walked back to her room and waited until the time would come for her class to resume.

She pulled out the stone from her pocket and smoothed it with her fingers. It was cool to the touch and she still could remember his cries of joy when she had reached the top of the tree. The stone was what had given her strength, was what she thought back then. But she knew now it was the faith her brother had in her that kept her going.

?Kelsey, wake up.?

Kelsey turned around and saw Jake putting his boots on and putting the sleeping bag away. ?Where are you going?? she asked.

?To town.?

?Jake! What if Dad finds you?? she sat up now and realized how cold it was outside that morning.

?Kelsey, he?s not the bad guy here. We need to realize that. It was the Alcohol that killed Mom. It was the knife dad used that killed mom. It wasn?t Dad. Dad wouldn?t do that. The day I believe that he did those things to hurt us is the day when the sun is gone.?

?Fine.? Kelsey got up and put her boots on. ?Then let?s get going.?

?No Kelsey, not this time. This is something I?m going to do myself. I?ve got to make sure everything is alright.?

?Jake, please let me go with you.? Kelsey pleaded.

Jake gave his little sister a hug. ?Kelsey, I?ll be fine. I?ll be back in no time.?

?When Jake? When do I expect you back??

?Give me two days Kels. I?ll be back by then.?

?Promise??

?I promise, now go to sleep. I got food in the ice chest for the days I?m gone. Don?t get sick on cookies, you hear??

?I promise.? Kelsey smiled and went to sleep.

But you broke that promise, Jake. Kelsey thought to herself.

?You LIED to me!? she cried. Kelsey hugged her pillow and wept.

Late that eveng Heero didn't go to his multi-weapon class, he was too confused about everything to do anything, walking around the school he felt the cool air tickle his face as he stood under a tree and lent against it, pulling out his twin Katanas and his bow he remembered what his parents said:

OOC: just remembering the past

'Son, We made these in hopes that you'll never forget that we love you so much...no matter where we are...no matter what happens...we will always love you,' his mother whispered

His father smiled warmingly

In anger Heero dropped the bow and began swinging the two Katanas around as if he were fighting...but the only thing he was fighting was himself

Kita walked casually to her class. She had chosen some that weren't extremely early so she could sleep in some. She brushed her long reddish brown hair out of her brown eyes. She adjusted her sword on her back and slowly strode down the hall towards her sword skills class.

She entered and found that she was the first on there so she thought to kill time that she would warm up. She pulled out her sword and started to go through her routines.

occ- sorry that took so long, i haven't been able to get online.

Heero walked back to his dorm room and jumped in the shower, The hot water always seemed to ease his mind after that he went for another walk outside, he liked to walking, it cleared his mind most of the time but not as good as the hot water, leaning against a tree he watched people walking backwards and forwards to their classes, at that moment he felt uncomfortable, someone was behind him...he could feel it...but who

OOC: Hey cat come on...my names Heero not Heeero...LOTIS

'And you came to me?,' spoke Heero with a frown, Cat looked down at the ground as Heero put his Katanas away

He noticed tears rolling down her cheeks

'I only came to you because you wouldn't care what i say...you'd just listen...i hope,' she spoke softly

Heero then walked towards the tree but as he walked passed her he wiped a lonely tear away from her face and flicked it away, she looked at him as he sat down and examined his bow, she then sat down beside him

'I know you have better things to do but...I really need to talk to someone...please,' she said as she looked at him while tears swelled in her eyes

Heero put the bow down and looked at her then gave her a slight nod, she couldn't believe that he was actually going to listen to her

Kelsey was hunched over on the floor. She stopped crying a while ago, but her heart still felt heavy as if it had been crushed with too many blows.

"This...must stop...." she whispered into the darkness of her soul. She knew she was doing it to herself again. The last time she almost lost everything. She almost lost her life.

She sat on her knees and leaned against the bed. She held the stone and tried to draw on it's meaning. "Jake. He believed in me," she tucked the stone into her pocket. "Why did you leave me, Jake?? You swore to take care of me, and you take your life instead!!!" she screamed. She started throwing everything around the room and broke down again.

She needed air. She dried her tears, grabbed her bow and went to the target courts. She had missed her class, but she really didn't care about what her witchy teacher would do or say the next day. There were more important things she needed to sort out in life, and it didn't involve archery lessons.

It was getting dark outside, but she preferred the night hours when she felt this way. She set her bow and started shooting the targets. She concentrated hard on each shot. It helped her to avoid thinking about those who hurt her. Those who weren't with her, those who betrayed her, those who she counted on, and deserted her in the end... and those that confused her.

She stopped and put the bow down. Heero.. she thought. He was the one thing she didn't mind thinking about. He was a puzzle to her. It was as if helping him would help her as well. Maybe that was why she tried to force it out of him earlier. But now, she knew she really must have done something right. The boy, who everyone took no notice of, because he took no notice of anyone else, was finally opening up. And she felt that while the victory belongs to Heero alone, she played a part in helping him. He, too had a past he wanted to escape. One that he clearly wanted to bury beneath the soils of the dank, depressing earth. But depsite his pain, he was finally finding it in his heart and character to open up. She smiled as she dried the last tear from her eye. Thinking of him made her feel a lot better.

Who knew that the person I thought needed my help was actually going to help me instead.

And so, she walked over to the creek she had found Heero in earlier and sat there. She would wait for him, for as long as it would take.

"Well," Cat began her story of her past. " This is how it went. My parents were poisn when I was young. I didn't know who had the guts to poisn them. They died right afer the poisn entered into there body's. After that I was a lone untill my older brother Spike came into my life.

"I went to live with him. He would always try to make me smile but I never did smile. Any way, after my parents deaths my brother got into a car accident and was paralysis from the waist down. Then he sent me here. So I could become stronger but still have a feeling that there is some other reason he want me to come here."

Cat had been talking to the ground but she knew that Heero was still listening. " I still think that my parents and brother's accidents were by some one." Cat look at heero and said " Have you ever feel like there is some thing wrong with you that sets you a part from all the rest?" Heero said nothing.

OOC: I'm sorry about the name Heero. I went and fixed. Don't be mad at me.

OOC: It just looked funny seeing it spelt with three EEE's instead of two...I'm not mad

IC:

Heero knew that Cat was looking at him, he turned his head slightly and looked at her, tears were still rolling down her face, He knew how she felt and he could see the sadness that dwelled deep in her eyes, that sadness was something he feels every second, every minute, every day

After five minutes Heero spoke
'What happened to your family wasn't a coincidense...even a blind man can see that...but as for feeling like you don't fit...I understand,'

Cat looked at him in shock, she didn't think Heero would talk to her

'So you do feel how i feel?' questioned Cat

'I've lived with loneliness and emptiness for a long time and i still do which is something i can see that you relate to well... but there is a big difference between you and i, you have someone who cares for you enough to want you to be happy...where as i don't, the only thing i have is my wretched past and it's the only thing that keeps me alive,'

'But i still feel....like i don't belong,' whispered Cat loud enough for Heero to hear

'You will find that you aren't the only one who feels like that, we all have differences that set us apart from others but as i've said you have a brother whos trying to help you regain that happiness and security that you once felt but whether you want it or not is up to you...just make sure that the path you chose isn't going to make you turn around and regret it all because regret is far more greater than feeling like you don't belong,' said heero and with those words he got up and left her to think.

Heero walked around the school wandering if he should of given his opinion, he needed a swim to clear his mind so he went to the creek. walking through the bushes in out into the small clearing he saw Kelsey sitting beside the creek flicking the water with her fingers

Kelsey spun around in fright as she heard a twig snap and found Heero looking at her, she smiled

'I didn't realise that you were here...I'll leave,' he said looking down at the ground and turning his back on her ready to leave

Kita walked out of the school building wrapping her hand as she went. she had just finished with her final class for the day and had managed some spare time to spar someone. "this day is turning out." she muttered somewhat cheerily.

she walked around on the grounds for a while not really knowing where she should be going. But she finally found a quiet place in the moonlight to take a seat. The seat just happened to be high up in a tree that was half dead, but she really didn't care. Kita climbed the tree and sat in the crotch of two branches. "this is a nice night. I bet that you would agree if you could, Lunus." she muttered smiling.

she leaned against one of the branches and closed her eyes humming an eerie little tune that was taught to her by her brother long ago.

Cat sat there for a bit. She was thinking about what Heero had said. He was right. Heero knew how she felt not have any parents. He was also right abiut her brother. Cat's brother just wanted her to be happy. Cat got up and the first time smiled. She felt great and she know what Heero need the most. He need a friend. Cat began to walk back to her dorm. Once she got there and saw the picture of her desk. She smiled. Cat went over the phone on her night stand and called her brother. This would be the first time they talked in a real long time.

?Heero wait.? Kelsey said.

He turned around and looked at her. She knew he would stay. She patted the ground next to her and turned and faced the water again.

Heero stood there a while debating whether or not he should stay, but ultimately decided to stay. He went over and sat next to her.

?I?ve been waiting. What took you so long?? Kelsey said jokingly.

?I had something I needed to do.? He said

Kelsey smiled. ?Heero, you don?t need to tell me anything about your past. I understand it?s painful to talk about. It wouldn?t be fair to expect something from you, knowing how painful a past can be.?

?So why are you talking to me? What are you doing here?? he asked still staring at the water.

Kelsey waited for a second to gather all of her thoughts. ?Heero, you may not realize this, but you?ve been helping me a lot lately. And not in the way you think either.?

Heero looked up for a second. His facial expressions showed that he was confused.

?Talking with you, seeing you, even being around you, Heero, helps me. I don?t feel sad when I?m around you. I hate being sad.?

Heero was quiet. She could tell he was confused.

?My Father came home drunk one night and tried to kill the family. He killed my mother, but Jake, my brother got me out of there just in time. We didn?t return for years. Jake and I stayed away and lived in the woods. He had a small job in a different village. He used the money to buy foods at the store. We were actually happy despite what happened at home.?

Heero looked up at that moment. ?So where?s your brother now??

Kelsey stopped for a while. ?He?s? dead, he killed himself in a jail cell because justice was too late.?

Heero looked down at the ground. ?I know what it feels like to lose everything.?

?I haven?t lost everything, Heero.?

Heero looked at her, and she met his questioning gaze.

?I have you as a friend, and now you have me. We can help each other get through this, just by understanding one another.?

Heero just stared for a while. And then Kelsey saw what looked like a small smile. She smiled too and stared at the water once again.

Heero stood up

'Where you going?' she asked as she looked up at him, He didn't say anything as he walked over to a rock and took off his clothes leaving on his bike shorts

'For a swim I need to clear my mind,' he replied as he dove into the water

Kelsey watched him as he glided across the water then floated in the middle looking up at the stars, he then stood up and looked at her suddenly he disappeared under water, Kelsey began to get worried when he didn't come up, looking over the edge she searched suddenly his face appeared and a wet hand grabbed her shoulders and with a scream Heero pulled her in, she quickly stood up and looked around, Heero appeared on the other side of the creek with a devious smile on his face

'You look like a drowned rat,' he said still with a devious smile on his face as he ran his fingers through his wet hair

OOC: Lol, talk about not knowing what to say

"Well you don't look any better." she shot back. "It's FREEZING in here!!" she yelled. Heero laughed at her which enraged her even more. She pushed him away and got out of the water. She was soaked.

"Dang it, these were fresh clothes from the laundry you know." Kelsey couldn't help but smile.

"Well, they needed a wash anyway." he said.

"Hey, don't make me get my bow and arrows, Heero." she threatened.

Heero laughed and climbed out of the water he went over to his clothes and got his jacket. He shook it out and gave it to her. "Here" he said. "Don't want you catching a cold now do we? You've got school tomorrow, and we both know how much the teacher likes you." Heero said.

Kelsey took the jacket and put it on. It was warm to her surprise. "Oh the groutch would just give me another detention."

"Not that you ever deserved one." he said as he went back into the water.

"As a matter of fact, no. I highly disagree that taking time to enjoy nature is against any school poilicies."

"So that's what being late is called now, Enjoying Nature, I should remember that."

Kelsey smiled. She had finally gotten Heero to smile.

"You know, you don't look half bad with a smile. You should make it a habit." she said.

Heero laughed and swam around in the water, he stood up and looked at her, he watched her wrap herself in the jacket

He swam over to the bank and rested his arms on the side and looked at her

'You' re not so bad your self when you smile,' he said resting his head on his arms, 'you know the waters not that cold,'

'Yes it is,' she said, 'just because your use to the cold,'

Heero shrugged his shoulders, 'I guess you have a point, but it's still nice though,' he said flicking a bit of water at her

'Don't!,' she snapped, heero smiled and pushed off from the side

She noticed that he seemed happier when there wasn't alot of people around, he seemed more gently...in a way, she watched him stand up and noticed that he was smiling at her

"What?" she said softly.

"Nothing. I want to show you something." he got out of the water and got dressed.

Kesley stood up and she was still wet and cold. "What is it?" she asked.

"Just a place I think you'll like. I know how fond you are of nature. There's a place behind this creek that I think you'll find very enjoyable." Heero took her hand and walked past the creek.

Kelsey had never walked this far from Kurakow. She was always afraid to go so far alone. But now that Heero was with her, she wasn't so afraid anymore.

They stopped in a small clearing. They were below the ground and the trees formed a canopy over the still waters. "How did you find...?"

"Come on, there's more." Heero led her to a tree where the branches extended over the waters. It was perfect for climbing.

"Heero, I'm all wet. I can't climb like this?"

"Kelsey, are you always a complainer?"

"No, at least not when I'm dry."

"Suit yourself, but I'm sure you wouldn't want to miss this shot, nature walker." he said and started climbing the tree.

"Fine" she sighed. She followed Heero up the tree to the branch. He sat there and waited until she got herself up. She placed herself on the branch below him, and leaned against the tree.

"Well this is high." she said. Kelsey enjoyed climbing trees. She just wasn't fond of the high ones.

Heero smiled, "Look up Kelsey."

She looked up and the stars outlined the sky in sweeps, and she noticed how the water picked up the stars reflection from their view.

"It's beautiful. Actually, this is a lot like the place Jake and I used to live."

"You used to live in a place like this? Lucky." said Heero.

Kelsey pulled out the stone Jake had given to her. It was warm, despite the coldness around her.

"Just like Jake." she said.

Heero looked down at Kelsey, and was about to ask what she meant, when he saw a shadow pass along the bottom.

Dropping down beside her, he placed his hand over her mouth

'Shhh,' he whispered, 'There's someone walking around down below,'

Heero slowly took his hand away, Kelsey looked down

'Who could it be?' she whispered

'I don't know, I only saw a shadow,' said Heero as he began climbing down the tree slowly, he croughed down on the ground and searched the area, Kelsey dropped down behind him,

'Can you see anything?' she whispered in his ear

'I don't know but we'll head back,' he said taking her hand, she walked close beside him as they made there way back to the creek

'I wonder who that was?' questioned Kelsey as she sat down on the rock

'I don't know but come on i'll take you back to your dorm room,' said Heero as he took her hand again, 'Your freezing,'

'All thanks to you,' she smiled

Heero smiled. "I'm not going to get off that easy, am I?"

"Not while I'm around. I'll make you remember this one mister." she said, standing up.

They heard another sound. Heero decided that it was best to get her back to her dorm room as soon as possible.

"Is it them?" she asked

"Who?" Heero looked at her confused.

"Those two boys from earlier. They cornered me not too long after you left the nurses office and said they wern't finished with me or whatever. Then Cat showed up and they got scared and left."

"Kelsey, I wished you told me this before." Heero said rolling his eyes.

"You didn't ask. Besides, who knew that they'd be back. And besides, we don't even know if it's them."

Heero looked around and decided to get going. "Come on, we've got to get you home now. I'm not taking any chances this time."

Before they could move four boys jumped out from behind the bushes

'Oh look what we have here...two love birds...whats the matter Heero...did i hit a nerve spot,' mocked the boy he punched earlier

Heero pushed Kelsey behind him

'Now lets see if you can handle this one,' spoke the boy as they ran at them, Heero pushed Kelsey out of the way and drew his sword as the four boys drew theres, the fight was intense, one of the boys lunged at heero and managed to cut his left shoulder, heero didn't flinch at the pain

'Heero,' cried Kelsey as she tried to use her bow but one of the boys snatched it off her and pushed her out of the way, in anger that he had touched her bow she kicked him in the leg suddenly the boy hit her across the face and she hit her head against the tree making it bleed

A deep anger grew in Heeros heart and his face turned sinister, the boys looked at him in fear, at that moment the boy he punched cut him with his sword across the back leaving a deep gash...once again it was as if Heero didn't feel it, he spun around grabbed the boy by the head and hit his head against the tree which knocked him out, as he turned around another boy took a swing at him and cut him across the chest, by that time Heero was even more angry and he lunged at one of them and beat him until he was black and blue the other two dropped their weapons and ran, He quickly ran over to Kelseys side and picked her up, He couldn't take her back to her room because he didn't know how to get in and the nurses office was closed, so quickly he carried her back to his dorm room.

He lay Kelsey down on his bed, her forehead and the corner of her bottom lip was bleeding, so he grabbed some warm water, a damp cloth and some ointment, he began cleaning her wounds
