Jokopoko
Welcome to the 24th Century -==============================- The year is 2387 and the place is the U.S.S. Brightstar NCC-77568 of the Federation Starfleet. It is a peaceful time for the residents of the Milky Way; The Dominion War is long over but the scars still remain, the Borg threat is all but gone from the galaxy thanks to the heroic efforts of the crew of the U.S.S. Voyager and the galactic neighbours of the Alpha and Beta Quadrants are no longer at each throats after witnessing first had the destructive capabilities of a long term war. The Federation, out of all the powers, is the most thankful for this peace. It means that they can once again use Starfleet for the purpose it was originally charted for. Exploration. With the war and other subsequent events it was been some time since a Starship ventured outside of known space but that is about to change. Under a new mandate of galactic exploration Starfleet has limited the number of Battleships in construction in favour of explorers and long-range survey vessels so the unknown can become the known. The Alpha Quadrant is still as unexplored as the other quadrants so it is high time this began. The U.S.S. Brightstar is one of these ships being built under the new mandate. She is a top of the Line Insignia class Starship, well suited deep space and long-term exploration. Her mission is to explore the vast regions of the Beta and Delta Quadrants; the Beta Quadrant has only been partially explored by the Klingons and Romulans who live there and there is still much to learn of the Delta Quadrant. The ships Captain has been allowed to hand-pick his crew from Starfleets best and brightest. It is not known what awaits this new crew as they journey into regions hardly explored by man but one thing is certain. They Are Ready. -==============================- Several days ago the U.S.S. Vigilant picked up a distress call from one of the long-range colonies that have been set up deep into the Beta Quadrant in recent years. The Vigilant, being only an Oberth class, was unable to aid the colony, codenamed J-27. The ships Captain instead relayed the message to Starfleet Command and resumed their mission. Command looked through the list of available ships and found only the newly commissioned U.S.S. Brightstar was able to handle the situation even though she was still awaiting a crew. Vice-Admiral Andrews set orders via encrypted Sub-Space to the Captain of Brightstar with his orders. The Brightstar is fully constructed with all ship systems operating at 100% efficiency but she still lacks a crew. Her Captain only has a short space of time with which to assemble a crew for this mission before Starfleet is forced to hand over the mission to a ship which is ready. -==============================- Before we get started I?d just like to say the piece above this is not the overall plot of this RPG only a brief premise for the first ?episode? of Brightstar, I?ll explain about that a little later. Now the basic idea behind this [Those who have read the Underground thread already know] is following the journey of the senior staff [Us] aboard the U.S.S. Brightstar as it travels through the Milky Way on its mission, think of it like a series of Star Trek but on OB instead of the TV :P. There are a few things I?d like to get out of the way before we start. 1. Applicants need a basic knowledge of Star Trek before signing up [I recommend Deep Space Nine and Voyager seeing as they are the closet in terms of events]. 2. The usual board rules for grammar, spelling and punctuation apply. 3. Only sign up if you will be committed, this will be a very lengthy RPG from the go. 4. The position of Commanding Officer [Me] and Executive Officer [Kane] have already been taken so don?t apply for them. 5. There are only eight or nine spots available so I am going to be selective about whom I let in so please give the sign-up your best shot. I think that about covers it but if I think of anything else I?ll either edit this post or post it with a new reply so please keep an eye open for any up dates. -==============================- Character Sign-up sheet This will be a little different to most applications so instead of breezing past the descriptions of each category give attention to the ones that matter: Name: [If you are human names from today are fine but if you?re an alien think about your characters race] Age [Terran Years]: [Regardless of race this should be between 20-40 because we are all senior officers] Date of Birth: [The year of the RPG is 2387 so subtract your age from that I.E. Please do not apply unless you are committed to sticking this through to the end because this will most likely, if it succeeds, be one of OBs longest running RPGs. I also ask that you have knowledge of ?Star Trek? because it will be of paramount importance as the plot line develops and the ?episodes? become more complex. Before you choose the position for your character make sure it?s one that appeals to you, not just because it looks cool or something like that, make an informed decision. If you wish to sign-up for the Second Officer or Chief Medical Officer please PM me first because these positions are very important and have powers that the other positions do not. I will be posting my character after everyone else so it will also included the list of excepted crew members. I want this to be a successful RPG in many respects so give the sign-up your all and once the RPG starts make a point to write the replies into Word first so it can catch spelling errors and all of that. Above all I want this to be a highly enjoyable RPG so that everyone can take something memorable away with them. Vicky
Name: Tolaris Age (Terran Years): 33 Date of Birth: 2354 Marital Status: Single Appearance: Enrique Murciano http://mm.intizen.com/usr/k/r/kreuk/1/Enrique%20Murciano.jpg A lot like this Vulcan in the picture, only Tolaris would have Klingon forehead ridges, like Lt.Torres. Since he spent a long time on a Star ship exploring he?s always been interested in it. Tolaris is also interested in history of ships, people, planets and finding things to the past. He also draws (see bio) instead of meditation or Vulcan mind games. Position Applied For: Chief Diplomatic Officer Education: " 2359-2364 Primary Education, U.S.S. Brightstar, Chief Diplomatic Officer Background: Born on the Star ship Goldhawk, which travelled through space in the name of exploration, Tolaris hardly ever saw his parents. If he ever did see them off duty, it would normally be his mother, and they wouldn?t do much. Tolaris wasn?t too lonely, because he would normally find something to do with the other officers on board. Most of the time, Tolaris would spend his time with the Morale Officer, a human, Robert. Although Tolaris? father didn?t think Robert had any logic at all and didn?t seem to like him much, Tolaris enjoyed spending time with him. They would normally play games and do fun things, so unlike most Vulcan?s, or half Vulcan?s, Tolaris was very fun to play with at his young age. When Tolaris? father found time off, he decided to teach Tolaris how to play Vulcan Chess and how to meditate, unfortunately, Tolaris didn?t take any of it as well as his father thought. Tolaris lost at all the games he played with his father in a matter of minutes, so Tolaris didn?t like that. Things in the room or any area while meditating also often distracted him. Even when Tolaris had his eyes closed, he often asked his father questions and interrupted. Tolaris? father said it would take sometime to make things right, and Tolaris argued that everything was right. He said logic didn?t matter, he said that some of the greatest story told weren?t logical. Tolaris lost his temper when his father said he wasn?t to stay with Robert through the day. Then Tolaris lost his temper and ended up saying he wished he wasn?t Vulcan at all. He said things he didn?t mean to say, and it was clear that the Klingon part of Tolaris gave him a bad, bad temper. Over the next few months Tolaris? temper got a lot worse. Tolaris became a lot more defiant and didn?t listen to a word that anyone said. His father told him he had to meditate, and when Tolaris agreed to give it a shot he slowly got bored. He got angrier as well because of the fact most Vulcan?s insisted on controlling their every emotion. One night Tolaris was talking to Robert, and Robert had mentioned that drawing was like meditation. You had to concentrate, and you could express thoughts in one picture, like anger, happiness, hate, and get rid of it all before starting a new day. Tolaris said it looked a lot more interesting than meditation, and he asked if he could learn how to do it. Robert agreed to help him. Tolaris had shown his mother what Robert had taught him, but kept his father out of the picture. He would tell his father he was meditating, when Tolaris was really doing a simple drawing. Over time he became more careless, thinking his father was always working and just drawn at night without caring at all. When his father did catch him, Tolaris expected them both to argue about what Tolaris was still doing listening to Robert, but it wasn?t like that. Instead, Tolaris? father simply said it was fine as long as Tolaris would control his anger. Tolaris agreed with his father. When the Goldhawk were attacked by alien vessels who claimed that the star ship was trespassing, Tolaris? father was sent on an away mission with Tolaris? mother. Though after the mission was cleared up with the officers assigned to the away mission, Tolaris had noticed his mother was avoiding his father more than normal. Tolaris was shocked when he heard his mother requested to be taken off the team, saying that they would be fine without her. Tolaris became very suspicious as to why his mother wouldn?t want to go with the away team. It had been days; maybe even weeks, but the away team hadn?t contacted the ship yet. Tolaris was told that there had been some communication problems and the aliens had been blocking signals, but Tolaris knew that something was wrong. After at least a month of searching, there was no sign of the away team or their shuttle, so the Captain resumed course battling past the aliens. By the time Goldhawk was going back to Starfleet HQ, Tolaris was curios about the Vulcan home world. He asked his mother that instead of going to earth, could he live on the Vulcan home world instead. Tolaris was told there was no point, and that he would e referred to one of the V'tosh ka'tur (Vulcan?s without Logic). Tolaris said he was treated like he was born fully Vulcan and reminded his mother that he was only half that and was free to explore emotions if he wanted too. But his mother still insisted on Tolaris going back to earth and learning there, and Tolaris knew something was wrong. Something had happened that made Tolaris? mother change her mind going on the away mission, also making her change her mind about everything to do with Tolaris? father. But Tolaris could never get his answers, and did end up going to earth, but he didn?t regret it. Tolaris enjoyed his first years as a cadet. His training was good, and Tolaris found it enjoyable. He did blow his stack at any time or get really angry; it went very smoothly in fact. He had a few friends there, including a girl named Sarah, a human girl. In Tolaris? third year they used to work together on things and a few of them would spend their spare time together. Tolaris found it interesting how Sarah thought he was funny when in all honesty Tolaris had a bad sense of humour. In his 4th year as a Cadet, he was really hoping that a few of the people he knew would be assigned to the same ship as him, unfortunately they weren?t. Tolaris served as a Diplomat?s Aide for 4 years on the U.S.S. Hurricane, and was promoted to Diplomatic Officer there. Tolaris spent 8 years on the U.S.S. Hurricane, the first 4 years as a Diplomat?s Aide, then the next 4 years as a Diplomatic Officer. He was well known with the crew, but Tolaris wasn?t very found of the Captain. The Captain wasn?t interested in diplomacy much; Tolaris even thought the Captain was always trying to pick a fight with other beings. In Tolaris? 7th year on the ship they came across an abandoned vessel, with only two life forms, one Talaxian, one Ktarian. The ship was attacked by an unknown ship leaving only two survivors, and the Captain told the crew to set a course for the attacking ship. In a few months, Tolaris came to know the Talaxian, and learnt a few phrases himself. After awhile the U.S.S. Hurricane came into contact with the attacking ship, Romulan?s. A Romulan Warbird opened fire on the Hurricane, and then invaded the ship taking out a few of the crew. Tolaris, a few other crewmembers and the Captain managed to survive, but had been confined to sickbay under watch of the Romulan guards. The Captain was fixed on taking the ship back, so they decided to do it by force. They attacked the guards near sickbay and took their weapons, and proceeded to the bridge. They couldn?t get the ship back and take it back to Starfleet, so Tolaris sent out a distress call to Starfleet while the others kept the Romulan?s occupied. A Starfleet ship arrived to their rescue, managing to get the crew off the Hurricane, leaving the Romulan?s behind. The Starfleet ship then opened fire on the U.S.S. Hurricane, destroying it. After the Romulan incident, Tolaris was assigned to the U.S.S. Arrow, a science vessel in 2385. He had been promoted to Assistant Chief Diplomatic Officer before joining the U.S.S. Arrow, and had his own try at being Chief Diplomatic Officer. He even once had his own try at Captain. Tolaris was assigned to an away mission, which ended up with the away team using weapons to fight their way back. The team leader was injured when the inhabitants of a planet attacked them. It was unknown that the planet was inhabited, but the creatures seemed very vicious. The shuttle was underground when it crashed, therefore the away team had to find a way to the surface, hoping that the air was breathable. Tolaris took lead there, and managed to get the away team back to their ship in one piece. Tolaris spent 2 years on the U.S.S. Arrow, and thought it would probably be his last exciting journey anywhere. After the U.S.S. Arrow, Tolaris was promoted to Chief Diplomatic Officer. Personality Profile: Tolaris finds no need to keep his emotions locked up, though he is a calm person most of the time. He tries to find a way out of a conflict no matter what instead of going into one. Tolaris doesn?t mind lots of work, and even in his spare time he will research things at his own will or help people around the ship. Tolaris can get very, very angry sometimes and lose his temper and maybe all logic, but it rarely happens. Tolaris finds interest in exploring, so he is in favour of a little mission change in the name of exploration. Tolaris tries his best not to insult people, even if it is the truth. Though he is part Vulcan, Tolaris tries to ?set logic aside? once in awhile, since he was annoyed when his father talked about logic. He?s normally quite understanding, but Tolaris does have his share of disagreements. Tolaris is also very open into talking to people, but some subjects like his life on the Goldhawk he?s quite sensitive about. The one annoy thing about Tolaris is that he raises his eyebrow a lot. The Captain on the U.S.S. Hurricane used to twitch a lot when Tolaris did this and told him to stop, and Tolaris does it a lot. Special Notes: None. Brightstar, Chief Engineering Officer
Background: Born in Brussels to a half Romulan Mother and Human father, Jack was a pretty normal kid. While in primary school he became enthralled with models, and soon began collecting and building model starships that were as perfect as he could make them. This didn?t satisfy his newfound fascination with starships, and he soon began to read all manner of material on the vessels. His parents assumed this was just a phase their son was in, and that it would soon pass, but Jack entered secondary school more enamored than ever with the gleaming metal craft that traversed the stars. His focus narrowed to warp engines near his senior year in secondary school, and it became a forgone conclusion that he would attend the academy. Possessions packed, goodbyes given and mind made-up, Jack boarded a shuttle in 2368 and went off to the academy. Although he was a stellar student, Jack nearly failed out of the academy his first year because he couldn?t keep up with the fitness requirements. His friends were able to help him pull through, and he emerged much healthier. The next three years flew by; before he knew it Jack was graduating. He'd surpassed most of his professors in warp theory and was in charge of maintenance for the school shuttlecraft by the time he left the academy. From there he worked for three years as an assistant to several leading Scientists studying trilithium before serving on starships. Although his work is commendable, his rise through the ranks has been slowed by his sub par leadership skills. Upon his promotion to Chief Engineering Officer on the Insignia class starship U.S.S. Brightstar, Jack decided to make a fresh start. He's resolved to take care of himself, keep his weight under control and, most importantly, talk to people? Personality Profile: Jack is a brilliant engineer, but not cut out for command. He spends almost all of his spare time tinkering with the ship's engines and often forgets things normal people would take for granted: eating healthy, shaving, exercising, etc. He seems off in his own little world most of the time, and displays only marginal leadership skills at best. Special Notes: Jack has a cat, Roger, who is constantly at his side.

Brightstar, Chief Communication Officer Background: Trinity grew up on the planet Earth on the streets of San Francisco. Born from a Trill mother, Professor Silvia Marley, and a human father, Fredrick Marley. She had always desired to go into space and to see all the worlds. Even while she was little she would look up at the stars and study them. Her Mother was a teacher at the Starfleet Academy. She taught different languages to the Cadets. Her mother would let her sit down on her lectures and this began Trinity's love for languages. Her Father was an engineer on the U.S.S Arrow so she didn't see him very much. Trinity would spend many days at the Starfleet Academy Library studying about the different cultures around the universe. She would spend countless hours there reading different things, her mother normally would have to drag her away to get her to go to bed or bribe her by saying she would tell her new information. Her mother would teach her customs on the planet Trill. One of the things Trinity's Mother told her about was the symbionts. Her Mother was one of the very few that were joined with one and that because of the human in Trinity that she couldn't be a host. This didn't affect her by any means though. Trinity never got to see her Father much but she was very pleased when he was able to come to Earth to visit her and her mother. Her Father would tell her stories about the places her visited and the people he met. Sometimes he would be able to bring her something home. With all the stories this just fueled her passion more for the different cultures and languages. When she started her school she had already a wider knowledge than most kids. She was always top of her class and studying harder to do better. She wanted to make her Mother and Father proud of her. As she was nearing the end of her secondary education she knew that she wanted to go into Starfleet. Her Father wanted to be an engineer like him but Trinity knew that is not what she wanted to do. She told her parents that she was going to go to try and go for Communications. This did not surprise her mother at all, knowing her daughters love. During her first year as a Cadet she found it very exciting. She managed to get the best in her class. She than found her first love during the starting in her second year. His name Malcolm and she was head over heels for him. When she finally got to know him her feelings changed. Though he had good looks, brains, everything she wanted, but his personality he was an arrogant, self centered man. Trinity soon grew to despise him. Many of the Cadets that she went to class with believed that she was getting the good grades because her Mother was one of the Professors. This was not true though; her Mother actually was harder on her than any other of the Cadets. But with all that pushing it only help her to strive harder. She soon graduated from the Starfleet Academy in the year 2371. She was thrilled that she finally was going to be able to explore and learn new things. Trinity was first stationed on the U.S.S Arrow as a Communication Officer. It turns out her Father was still stationed on the ship. This helped her not miss her home as much. At first she found it a bit confusing being on that big of a ship. But with the help of her Father she was able to get things straight. Trinity spent eight years on the U.S.S. Arrow. Next she was transferred over to the U.S.S Billings. There she became the Asst. Communication Officer and her father was proud of her. Trinity was stationed on the ship for another eight years. She filled herself with the sights and sounds of all the other places she visited. Now she has been promoted to Chief Communication Officer on the U.S.S. Brightstar. She is a bit surprised by getting this new position. Trinity knows she can do the job though. She plans on doing what she is set out to do. On this new ship she hopes to make new friends and new people. Personality Profile: Trinity enjoys learning. She always has her nose in one book or another. She may come off by a bit stuffy but she is rather friendly once you get away her away from her books. While she is on duty she keeps to what she has to do and doesn't stray from that thought. She hardly ever gets angry at anything or anyone but rather keeps a rational head when about situations. She can very easly pick up languages without even trying to hard. Trinity at times will get wrapped too much in her books or studying others around her. She also is very trusting in people giving them the benefit of the doubt. Will always be willing to give them another chance to prove themselves to be a better being. Special Notes: Trinity always carries a book with her for reading. Jokopoko
I've forgotten to mention how the rank system is going to work. Only two positions have an automatic rank and they are Captain and Executive Officer [Captain and Commander respectively]. The other ranks are worked out by your sign-up quality and, to a lesser extent, the position you've applied for. E.G. The Second Officer is more likely to be a Lt. Cdr. as opposed to the other positions but be aware that your rank isn't important in respect to your Post Quality but just something to add to the RPG to make it more interesting. And at the end of each 'episode' they may be promotions for those who performed well in the previous mission and this will be decided by myself, Kane and the Second Officer. I'm not commenting on who's in and who's out right now because I will wait to all positions have been filled and if some have two applicants then I can compare.

Bellerophon, CLASSIFIED 2387 (Pres) U.S.S. Brightstar, Second Officer and Chief of Security/Tactical Background: The second host of the symbiont, Ikor, Liaran has already lived one life through another Trill. Yumen Ikor was a celebrated explorer in the annals of Starfleet history ? and the first host for the symbiont. The Chief Science Officer for a Nova-class starship, the U.S.S. Equinox, Yumen was a master diplomatist and scientist. A lover of languages and cultures, Yumen absorbed the knowledge of countless races and species. However, old age eventually caught up with Yumen, who passed away peacefully upon having returned to Trill. An accomplished graduate of the Trill hosting program, Liaran was an ideal candidate for the bonding process. Yumen passed away as Liaran had just completed his training - the Trill High Council immediately gave its permission for the combination. Before he ever entered the Trill hosting program, Liaran was an eager cadet in Starfleet Academy. Having watched both his two older brothers enter the Academy and continue on to stellar careers in Starfleet, he felt the same draw to life as an officer. His parents, however, were strongly opposed to the idea. For one, Liaran was the first member of their family to be accepted into the Trill initiate program. As far back as they could recall in both lines of the family, no member had ever been considered for the training. Secondly, he was their youngest, and they wanted their family to continue their roots on Trill. Despite their protests, Liaran was determined to follow his own path. He disregarded an invitation to enter the training and instead enrolled at Starfleet Academy. Determined to show his family that he had made the right decision, he went on to win academic honours and accolades in all aspects of cadet education ? in particular, flight training, combat training, and tactical operations. Although they were against the idea of Liaran entering Starfleet, they eventually decided to be supportive, rather than alienate him entirely. Perhaps because of their decision to compromise, Liaran relented and entered the Trill hosting training simultaneous to his time at Starfleet Academy. He began the training expecting the worst, but soon realized the full import of his role in Trill: a host, a carrier, an integral member of this miraculous process. His parents were extremely pleased at the progress he was making, and they were especially encouraged by news that a symbiont had been found for him. They hoped, though they never said it aloud, that the integration of memories and experiences might deter Liaran from leaving Trill. However, contrary to their hopes, the integration actually furthered Liaran?s desire to explore. At the first opportunity after the integration, Liaran was accepted aboard the Jupiter Station. His short-lived service there saw major improvements all around ? including ship armaments, as well as personal equipment. His instinctive understanding of small-scale combat was unprecedented. Liaran was also widely recognized as a tactical genius ? three papers of his writings on ship-to-ship combat and planetary assaults/defense were published and widely distributed throughout the Alpha quadrant. Although he was flourishing at Jupiter, he was suddenly transferred to the U.S.S. Bellerophon. While little known about his time on the Bellerophon, there is some speculation that it included involvement in Special Covert Operations. He was released from the Bellerophon after two years of service ? and immediately found a placement aboard the U.S.S. Brightstar. Despite his relatively small service record, he was given a recommendation of the highest order from Admiral Locke of Starfleet HQ. The captain of the Brightstar reluctantly took the officer on. Personality Profile: Liaran is a very personable individual, a trait common through both his Liaran Mandoren and Yumen. His integration with Ikor severely dampened Liaran?s aggressive tendencies, and the diplomacy of Yumen is now what comes through. Other than that, however, there are no clear distinctions between the two... except that Yumen was a female Trill. This fact, as one may expect, has certainly helped in balancing Liaran?s personality, as well as given him an interesting perspective on women. Liaran has an extremely sarcastic sense of humour, and is not above playing the occasional practical joke. He is also a very empathetic individual. Special Notes: Liaran is currently in a relationship with a medical officer aboard the Brightstar, Sarah McInnis.

Arzen, Routine Sensor Analyzer 2378-2382 U.S.S. Roxio, Assistant Science Officer 2382-2387 U.S.S. Roman, Chief Science Officer Present U.S.S. Brightstar, Chief Science Officer Background: Allen Baroner was born in one of the bustling cities of Mars. Sperera. The city had an outrageous and dirty underground black market, despite the federations most profound attempts to shut it down. He went to school with gang members. He walked home past hookers and pimps. When he went to the store, people tried to sell him weapons and other technologies out of trucks. After his graduation of the Guiding Star Primary School, his family, his mother father and himself, moved to Earth in downtown San Francisco. The view wasn't great, houses as far as the eye could see, but there was no crime, and no reason to look over you shoulder as you walked down the street. Allen finished up his schooling there. During a 'career week', at his secondary school, Yellowstone Secondary School, he became fascinated with all aspects of the stars and the myriad data you could collect with a single tool. When he graduated from Yellowstone, he immediately enrolled in Starfleet Academy and took the bar exam. He did pass, but only barely, not being extremely gifted in the language or history areas. His first year as a cadet hailed many new and exciting experiences Mars nor San Fran could provide. He got a girlfriend, her name was Kelly, became a dedicated Pheresies Squares player, and furthered his knowledge of 'everything out there' in his spare time, going above and beyond the classroom assignments. Second and third were just as much as an adventure, except he stopped seeing Kelly. She started dating a half Klingon... His first assignment was on the U.S.S. Arzen as a simple sensor reading analyst. Day after monotonous day he'd plunge into readings, logging every single insignificantly significant bit of sensor data. Allen hated it, but was happy Starfleet thought him qualified enough for any kind of interstellar work. Two years later, he was transferred to the Roxio as a general Science Officer. He did simple readings just like he used to, but now was responsible for much more significant systems as well as the minor ones. The first three years were rather quiet ones. A few extremely interesting phenomenon, but nothing that couldn't be looked up with a few hours dedication. His fourth year in, a Romulan spy had somehow made their way through Starfleet Academy and onto service on the Roxio. He sabotaged the warp core and had almost caused an overload. the spy had killed several of the engineering staff before turning the disruptor on himself. Allen had been able to shut it down from their science lab. It had earned him a promotion, and a requested transfer off of the ship. The U.S.S. Roman became his home for the next five years. On his stay there, he was Chief Science Officer and encountered everything from outright Borg conflicts to skirting the event horizon of a black hole. His sensors were constantly in top shape, even if it had been burned out the week before. He spent almost every waking hour fine tuning the multi-spatial array or the internal sensors. The hours he did reserve for fun were usually spent taking a lovely female on a date to the holodeck. Due to his constant work, his holodeck rations were almost always over full. He still had the old hobby of tinkering with outdated machines. During a conflict with a Borg Sphere, most of the engineering crew was wiped out by a plasma leak. He had been in engineering to do a sensor sweep when it had happened. He climbed to an upper level to fix a shorted out panel when it had happened. Allen put in a transfer to another ship immediately, having lost some of the people he had most cared for in the accident. He couldn't stand to be in the Romans engineering after that. He got his transfer and was drafted into the Brightstars crew almost overnight. Personality Profile: Allen will almost always lend a helping hand to anyone anytime, unless he's working. If he's working, you shouldn't even talk to him unless it's about work. Work is his fix, and if he doesn't work he doesn't sleep, and if he doesn't sleep he gets irritable. Allen is sightly distrustful of everyone at first. It takes him a few good conversations to trust you. Special Notes: Allen likes Strawberry Rhubarb Pie.
Jokopoko
I know I said I wouldn't post the final list until all the positions have been filled and technically this is true, all I'm doing is giving you your equivilent rank for the RPG, while this doesn't directly effect you in any way it does give the RPG a nice twist because it allows me to promote people ^_~. Gavin
I was having massive trouble completing my previous character Jerak so I decided to scrap it completely and start from scratch. I've decided to go with a Betazoid instead of a Vulcan because we already have one, that and I think we need a good mix of different races to make things interesting. Eh Bill when do we get to meet the Captain of this voyage ? Name: Ventarris Aside (his last name would be pronounced A-See-Day) Age 37 Date of Birth: In Terran terms it would be July 2nd 2350 Appearance: [img]http://www.macbraveheart.freeserve.co.uk/images/_pics/braveheart_pic11.jpg[/img] As pretty much seen here, like most Betazoids Ventarris's hair is either wavy or curly, in his case wavy. He wears his full commander's uniform most of the time though after a hard day he tends to removes the outer jacket and leave it with just the waistcoat. His uniform is usually so clean and neat that it seems as if it's just come out of a replicator. Marital Status: Dating the Assistant Chief Engineer Catherine Reed (for the second time) Height: 1.74 cm Weight: 87.24 KGs Hair Colour: Dark Brown Eye Colour: As with all Betazoids the irises of his eyes are a distinct black, this goes some way in helping him to bluff others as his continuous gaze can become unnerving. Species: Betazoid Sex: [strike]Any time he can get it[/strike] Male Place of Birth: Side (pronounced the same as his last name), a large city on the southern continent of the planet Betazed. Languages: Betazoid, Terran, Vulcan, Andorian, Bolian, Klingon, Romulan, Cardassian, Ferengi and Breen. He's also a big fan of cooking and prefers to only replicate the materials he needs to make a dish rather than having the replicator make the whole thing, the reason behind this is he believes that a true cook must have the ability to taste the dish he cooks. When not on duty or cooking or indeed upsetting his latest opponent Ventarris enjoys playing an old Terran musical instrument called the Saxophone which he plays with great proficiency. Brightstar, First Officer Background: Ventarris Aside was born in the city of Side some 37 years ago, his mother Deanna was a member of the city governing council. His Veritas father due to the nature of Betazoid society was little more than a commodity to his mother, the successful union between two of Side's most powerful families. Ventarris's birth on any other planet in the Federation would grant him, depending on his abilities limitless options for later life, however on Betazed he was regarded as little more than an acquisition with which to bargain with. His parents learned quickly after his birth that Ventarris was born a telepath as opposed to gaining his powers during puberty, it was a rare occurrence though not unheard of, such a condition often lead to madness with the person unable to cope hearing so many voices from youth. For most born telepaths it represented a great hurdle to overcome as Ventarris would have to develop great mental control and discipline in order to block out the noise of other people's thoughts. Ventarris's telepathy from birth was to represent the first in a number of steps for him to break the matriarchal chains the bound him. His parents saw that as well as being a child telepath he had a keen mind and a sharp wit, when attending parties by the elite of Side with his parents Ventarris would often be found arguing with older girls on the nature of Betazed's system of government. Most of the "elders" would secretly converse among themselves, away from Ventarris so that he couldn't read their thoughts or feelings. They would call him and those with similar ideals a danger to Betazed, and wondered how such noble family as the Asides spawned him. His father would often bring his son materials with which he could educate him until he was old enough to attend "Primary" Education, though this was little more than a basic education that would "serve" the needs of the women. He soon became argumentative with his mother over his education, he wanted to go to a proper institute where he could educate himself, though only 5 at this stage his telepathy had wizened him beyond his years. In the end his mother relented and along with his "Primary" education he was to be tutored so that his level of education would be on par with those gifted young women of his age. With these extra hours of tutelage Ventarris found himself to have little time for other activities, though for gazing up at the stars he made the time. He often wished he could leave the comfort yet stagnation of his life and go on to become an adventurer like James T. Kirk or Jean-Luc Picard, or other famous Starfleet captains. This was what he wanted to do later in life, so that other Betazoid boys might be able to follow in his footsteps. In 2359 his mother was diagnosed with a terminal neural degenerative disease, Ventarris and his father were devastated, as matriarchal as his mother was she had been a good a caring mother to him and helped him plant his first feet into a wide world. His father now the heir to his wife's possessions decided to move away from Betazed, as much as for Ventarris's benefit as for his own, his father choose for them to move to Earth, to San Francisco, the home of the Federation and Starfleet. Here Ventarris came into his own as he was no longer held back by the fact that he was a man, his father who had always had a flare for cookery opened up a restaurant serves some of the finest cuisine this side of a quadrant. Ventarris in 2360 enrolled in the local high school and for the next few years did little beyond work and dream about joining Starfleet. Ventarris was to be one of the few Betazoid males to join Starfleet, a fact he has taken great pride in, he had finally grappled his dreams with both hands and he would be damned before he let go. At the age of 15 he began his training in Starfleet Academy and finally began to feel accepted without having to be embarrassed because of the nature of his people's society. It was here that his dreams of space and adventure seemed to flourish from being a child's daydream to a reality, his Betazoid telepathy and empathic abilities made some people slightly nervous to be around him but most treated him like a normal person. His instructors noted he had an intuitive nature and had a flare for the cunning as well as a sharp mind, which basically placed him in either Tactical or Intelligence, he chose Intelligence and never really looked back. Four years seemed to pass fairly quickly for the young man, he worked hard and impressed many of his teachers, he made friends with other students and earned their respect as a good person. At 19 he finally completed his training at Starfleet Academy and his dream of becoming a member of Starfleet had been realised. His first assignment on August 16th 2369 as an Analysis Specialist saw him assigned to venerable U.S.S. Ulysses, a Galaxy class ship at her best, the Ulysses was one of the Federation's finest ships and Ventarris was proud to serve aboard her. His skills were immensely useful as the Ulysses was first ordered to patrol the Federation side of the Romulan Neutral Zone, effectively allowing the Romulans to get a good look at the ship they'd be tangling with if they didn't toe the line. While on her border patrol duties Ventarris was charged with sorting through different Romulan communiqués they'd pick up. For five years he worked on the Ulysses as she did her duties, after being reassigned from her shakedown border patrol and several other duties in the Alpha and Beta Quadrants, they were sent on a three-year deep space exploration mission in 2371. It was during that time that Ventarris began going out with one of the ships engineers, her name was Catherine Reed and whenever Ventarris was with he always made and effort to keep his mind to himself. While on deep space exploration it was Ventarris's job as the Crypto/Analysis Specialist to gather as much information as he could about the races they encountered and how they might affect Star Fleet. Just over three years later and with banks of data the Ulysses returned to space-dock for some minor repairs and upgrades, it was here that Ventarris received orders that he was being reassigned to another ship effective immediately. He was heart broken at the prospect of leaving Catherine but she told him that they'd meet again, and they did on his latest commission aboard the U.S.S Brightstar, as she is the Assistant Chief Engineer. Ventarris found himself reassigned to the U.S.S. Atlantis, one of the new Sovereign class ships which was the step up from the Galaxy he'd served aboard. He'd be promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and been given the duties of an Intelligence Officer but also as an Infiltration Specialist where required. The Atlantis was a fine ship and Ventarris soon forgot his feelings of woe at losing his position on the Ulysses. The Atlantis was assigned designed as an Enhanced Deterrence Explorer though more specifically she was built to go toe to toe in a fight with the Borg and the Dominion. As the Infiltration Specialist it was Ventarris's job to infiltrate Borg or Dominion ships or bases wherever possible to disable them or gather intelligence on the Collective or the Founders, he did his job with distinction as was noted by his Captain. Ventarris spent 7 years aboard the Atlantis before finding himself reassigned again and promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Commander with orders to work on Special Intelligence Projects on the Jupiter Station all of which is classified. Two years later his work at the Jupiter Station was finished and he hoped to rejoin his old crew on the Atlantis in the fight against the Dominion but this was not to be so. He was once again reassigned, this time to the U.S.S. Pendragon one of the new Excaliber II classed ships, with this reassignment he was given the position of Chief Intelligence Officer, though with Quadrant War over there was little Intelligence to manage. Thus the Pendragon was relegated to what most ships were in those few years after the War: Relief Work. His own home world of Betazed had been conquered and damaged and it was to be one of the number of worlds on the Pendragon's stop list. However 2 years later in 2385 the relief work was all but finished and the Pendragon got back to her original mission: Exploration. For the next two years Ventarris spent his time gazing through new information that would arrive on his desk, not that the vast majority was anything but sensor readings. The incident with the Reman Warbird Scimitar left Ventarris with a bad taste in his mouth, a ship that could avoid all detection and fire at the same time would be a very powerful new weapon in the Romulan fleet. However the work of Captain William T. Riker saw to it that eventually the Federation signed a peace treaty with the Romulans and for once the Quadrant seemed stable. Ventarris work on the Jupiter Station earned him critical praise, though only those with high enough clearance knew what that work entailed. Earlier this month on March 15th, after nearly a quarter of a century in Starfleet Ventarris was promoted to the rank of Commander and made First Officer of the newly commissioned U.S.S. Brightstar, he looks to this new challenge with the same determination as he has anywhere else in his life. Personality Profile: An easy going fellow for an ex Intelligence Officer, Ventarris is a person who likes to keep firmly in control of a situation. His years of working in the shady areas of the quadrant have made him a little more reserved than most people but once you get past his seemingly cold exterior there's a warm and kind heart to be found therein. His work as First Officer makes him the link between crew and Captain and as such can put him in some awkward situations everyone once and a while, however between his heart and his head he's able to keep the ship steady. Pandora, Science Officer 2374-2375 U.S.S. Aeon, Asst. Chief Science Officer 2375-2378 Starfleet Headquarters, Command Training 2379-2387 U.S.S. Khitomer, Executive Officer 2387-PRES U.S.S. Brightstar, Commanding Officer Background: Andrus is the only child of Kestra and Lon Hagen. He was born in mid-winter during 2341 in the capital city of Betazed, Rixx. His mother was a school teacher at a nearby secondary school and his farther was the in the Political System as one of Betazed?s representatives in the Federation Council, and due to this he spent much of his childhood being brought up by his mother because his father was often called away to council meetings, diplomatic functions and such and this is what some think gave him a higher level of telepathy for a Betazoid male of his age and experience with other species. While growing up his mother used to take him to Lake Cataria for days out where he would play around and build things out of the sand much of the time. The times when his father was home he would spend in doors and watch his father work mostly, not because he was interested but because he wished to spend time with him seeing as he could be called away in an instant. During his education, and puberty, Andrus discovered as many had guessed that his telepathy was advanced more a Male and was able to use it to his advantages for several bad incidents that happened with those wither jealous of his telepathy or those who simply believed him to be weak. It was in the Sciences and History that Andrus excelled the most at as he believed the other subjects just to be a waste of his time. In his third year of Secondary School Andrus discovered the complications of girls when he became ?smitten? with one of his class mates called Leona Eridia who had similar talents as him, in telepathy and academic work. After a few weeks of complicated small talk and ?egging? on by friends he did eventually begin dating her and the two became a very fine couple very quickly. In the final year of his Secondary Education Andrus had shown extreme attainment in both science and history and both of his parents urged him to go to the University of Betazed before continuing to Starfleet Academy, granted he would be one of the older ones of his year but he would have an advantage from having the degree from the University, and an added plus was that Leona was also going to study there before she went to the Academy to train for a Counsellors position. After much thought and deliberation Andrus chose to take a Science Major focusing on Chemistry before going to the Academy in 2363. In terms of eventfulness not much happened while Andrus was studying at the University, he and Leona remained together and his father decided to resign from his position and taken a more active role in his family?s life. In his first year at the Academy Andrus had to get used to the fact that he could no longer use his telepathy as freely anymore because his classmates, unless they too were Betazoid, disliked having their minds looked into and liked to keep their secrets which was entirely new for someone from Betazed. His major was in Chemistry while his two minors where in Genetics and Evolution while Leona went to the Medical Department they still remained very close in these years. After a few months and having settled in Andrus had made a number of friends but his closest, aside from Leona, was Vulcan known as Seval who was taking the same subjects as Andrus. While it was not the traditional friendship Andrus was used to it was still a strong friendship. During his second and third years Andrus had very little social life because of his studies but he was still able to see Leona quite a lot and also had games of Kal-Toh with Seval when time allowed. In his fourth year he had to decide where to take his ?fifth year cruise? before entering active service. He, along with Seval, chose to go to the Vulcan Science Academy as one of the Science Officers assigned their as opposed to joining a ship but for the first time Leona could not choose the same thing as him and she had decided to go a survey mission with the Galaxy Class U.S.S. Custer and that meant it would be a whole year before he would see her again. At the Science Academy Andrus was able to take part in some of the most advanced experiments being conducted in the Federation along with their brightest minds. At the graduation ceremony he saw Leona again but she said that they shouldn?t try a long distance relationship again because, like Andrus, she was going to stay with the position she had taken for her fifth year. Andrus stayed at the Science academy for another two years before he was transferred to a ship, this being the Persephone-Class U.S.S. Pandora on a scientific survey mission for planets that could be used for future Federation colonization. But this mission was abruptly cut short with the out-brake of the Dominion War that tore across the Alpha and Beta Quadrants forcing Starfleet to halt all scientific and medical operations so more ships can be used in the offensive against the Dominion. The Pandora saw most of its action against the Dominion at the galactic south of Cardassian Space using Starbase 129 as its base of operations. Whereas most Science vessels performed poorly in the war, the Persephone-Class was an exception due to its heavier armaments that the other science ships. Being involved in a number of border skirmishes with Cardassian and Jem?Hadar fighters the Pandora more often than not came out of it in better condition than the fighters. But in 2374 the ship was destroyed but the vast majority of the crew was able to escape in the life pods. Andrus next assignment as the Dawnstar-Class U.S.S Aeon where he had hoped to pick up in his Science duties but there was another year of the war to fight before then. In 2376, after being the Asst. Chief Science Officer for only a year, Andrus was called by Starfleet Command to enter Command Training. This was due to the large losses that Starfleet suffered over the course of the war and they were to many ?green? COs and XOs in the fleet and Starfleet wanted at least some of the new XOs to have more experience, on a side note Andrus was among those specially chosen because of his extra education from the University of Betazed. In his two years there Andrus got along quite well with the other officers who had also been called to take the Command training, he also meet up with his old friend Seval and the two reaffirmed there old friendship in the coming two years, Seval had to stay on at the Academy for an extra year because the Ponn Far had affected him during the second year and he returned to Vulcan and so missed the Second year examinations. He left Command Training having risen in rank to Commander and he had a choice of several ships that required Executive Officers. In the end he settled on the Steamrunner-Class U.S.S Khitomer, the reason being that the Ship would be assigned to a region of space the Starfleet knew very little about and this stirred the Scientist that was still in him even after the two years of Command Training. His time aboard was his longest time on any Starship and it was the first time he ever pursued a relationship with another member on the crew. Her name was Marlena Quinn and she was the Chief Science Officer on the Khitomer which was one of the reasons Andrus spent so much time with her and ultimately developed feelings for her. The two did get serious in the fifth year of the Khitomers assignment but it all ended when she was gravely injured on an Away Mission on the planet Galen and was transported back to earth for treatment, he hasn?t seen her since. The remainder of the mission was like any other and Andrus learned a lot from his captain, Alexander Vaughn, about what was needed from the command staff of a Starship and what should be expected of her crew. The Khitomer saw little action battle wise because the major powers were all still recovering from the Dominion War, and on another note the Romulans were still re-organising after the ?Shinzon Incident?. After a seven year cruise the Khitomer returned to Federation Space and Andrus was promoted to Captain for his actions and service during the mission and was given Command of the U.S.S. Brightstar which was a recently commissioned ship being sent out to explore the vast regions of unknown space still remaining in the Beta and Delta Quadrants. Personality Profile: Like most Betazoids, Andrus is a very caring person who cares deeply for his friends and family and would go above and beyond the call of duty if one of them were in trouble and he could help them in anyway possible. Again, because of his species, he finds it very hard to keep secrets and have his own personal thoughts [In a manner of speaking] and so it is easy for him to make friends because of this, though he does have to remember at times that his telepathy can make others uncomfortable. Andrus can also become very consumed in the latest experiment that the Science Department is running and rarely will have any spare time in which to socialise with the other members of the crew because he is so enthralled in the experiment and this can affect his relationship with the other members of the crew and the senior staff whom he works with. Special Notes: Even though Andrus is part of Starfleet Command division he still has a soft spot for the Scientist aboard the ship along with him and so he takes a special interest in how that department is being run and this can sometimes interfere with the running of other departments that require his attention. -===========- I?m going to start this today or tomorrow and for me it?s 8:30am GMT so I don?t know when that it is for some of you BUT I will be PMing people once I have posted the RPG so it?ll be easy to find. The remaining positions are Chief Medical Officer, Chief Operations Officer and Chief Flight Control Officer, if you know anyone who could fill them please don?t hesitate to ask them. Brightstar, Chief Operations Officer Background: Azalee was born into a family that was quite wealthy and successful, her father being on of the executives of a large company that developed modes for transportation. Her mother had worked as a nurse for several years, but quit early to raise a family. Azalee was the third child born to Myra and Phillip Watterson. Along with her older sister and brother, she would grow up to be the older sister of two young boys and a young girl. Her father, being quite busy with work, would rarely come home, but when he was on a vacation, he would take the whole family on splendid vacations, as if to make up for his absense. Though he was not at home often, he was a great father and his kids missed him dearly when he could not be with them. Azalee's mother was also a kind woman; always donating to charities and helping a family friend start her own little shop in Jacksonville, North Carolina. Being indoors as often as she was during her childhood, Azalee learned about her fathers work and dreamed of doing what he did; inventing for the good of the people. Her desire to invent caused her to take things apart. Not something her mother liked very much, but she still encouraged her daughter since she could manage to put it right back together if need be. Soon her desire to invent turned into a hobby of tweaking and fixing things around the house and soon the neighborhood. During secondary education, Azalee's hobby became a habit. She would fix things around the school that seemed impossible to fix. She would set up new classrooms using her own hand made lamps, desks, chairs, and chalkboards. She would even be pulled out of class to help other teachers, and on rare occasions, even the principle to help them with a technical problem. She also picked up on the Trill language, seeing as she was in Trill. In her first year as a cadet, her passion for technology grew even more. She had gained access to things her educational schools could not give her. Several of her fellow cadets enjoyed watching her tweak with things, but others felt she was just going to break something important. As the year went by, Azalee met her first real love. A young man she had met once before when he was visiting his cousin in Jacksonville. His name was Trenton Norquest. The two recognized each other and found many similarities. But the fact that they were both into inventing, and fixing things really made them a great couple. The two of them would spend as much time as possible together until their third year in cadet training. But as their fourth year together came by, Trenton left Azalee suddenly and without warning. Several days later, he was seen with another girl named Corrinne Roesser. The sudden broken heart made Azalee's fourth year a grueling one. Her studies were interuppted by her sudden depression. But the few close friends she had helped her pull out of her depression, but it still was tough for her. In 2372, when she was first assigned to the U.S.S. Illusion as a Materials officer, Azalee met another man, Leonel Wernz, that she hoped would replace Trenton. But Leonel soon was caught cheating and she quickly got him out of her life. But aside from Azalee's problems in love, she spent some of her best years on the Illusion because that's where she met Joya, a young woman that would become her best friend. The two became inseperable. They were seen on double dates, assignments, and just strolling down the corridors of the Illusion with each other. The two later were assigned to both the U.S.S. Highwind and the U.S.S. Gale, but a tragic even would not allow the two to go to the Gale together. In 2382, before they would trade off to the Gale to become Asst. Chief Operations officers, Joya was killed on an assignment that Azalee could not attend. Joya was on an assignment to transport a few immigrants from San Fransisco back to Mexico, which really was not that long a flight, but their aircraft crashed for unknown causes and it is believed that their plane was highjacked. Azalee suffered another deep depression. She had no other friends on the U.S.S. Highwind, but she seemed to get several condolences from the crewmates. When she was transfered to the U.S.S. Gale, she was almost demoted because her depression kept her from working well. But she found a way to let out her pain; art. She would often draw or sketch things that embodied what was going though her mind at that exact point and time. Her drawings were often not understood, so she kept them to herself. Her assignments were easy and done quickly as her depression began lifting. Her work improved its quality and the quality of the Gale itself. By the time she left the Gale, it was in the best shape it had been in since it was made. She eagerly awaited being transferred to the U.S.S. Brightstar, since its reputation was so great. Personality Profile: Azalee is usually a gentle woman that enjoys company and a good book. But other times, she can be rude and painfully honest. She hates being critized in anything but her work. She enjoys having her work rated. Even if the one rating is actually ranting about how she didn't do exactly what he wanted, she pays attention to every word, wanting opinions from every point of view as to improve her skill. She is usually shy and kept to herself, but when she is annoyed or angered, she will speak her mind and the facts. She doesn't trust easily, especially with men since her past with men hasn't been that pleasant. She does whatever she's doing to the best of her ability. Special Notes: Azalee's habit of tweaking things can often get her in trouble as she might tweak something she's not supposed to. She also has a cat with silver fur, white spots on his mouth, stomach, and paws, and black stripes and swirls all over his body, that she has named Skipper. And she has a sweet tooth as big as the state of California.
