ChibiHorsewoman
I started using this phrase yesturday when I went to go talk to the guy at the cell phone store about getting a cell phone and the plans they had availble when suddenly my brain went on a brief hiatus and I couldn't remember what I was going to ask. Lucky for me two things were in my favor: 1.) my mom was with me to fill in my blank mind and 2.) I now look 7 months pregnant so I can also call what I suffered a pregnant moment. But I like 'having a Jessica Simpson moment' better because she just seems so much dumber than an average pregnant woman in her third tri-mester. However, that's not the point of this thread. The point of this thread is to ask if you've ever had one of those moments where your brain simply ceases to function for brief periods of time and it caused some slight emberassment. Come on share...you're among those people who you feel you can tell things to...I think it starts with an 'f'.
Mitch
I still remember that one moment. They're both sitting there eating tuna, from bowls. She turns to him and asks, "I've always wondered. . .why's it called 'Chicken of the sea'?" And then he just gives her this look. Now you know, what I'm wondering is what is Chicken of the Sea? Is it actually chicken, they get from the sea? And how does that work? Do they genetically engineer the chickens so that they have gills by splicing in amphibian genes, or fish genes? Do they just let the chickens soak in sea water for a few days as the corpse rots, and then take it out and say, "We've got our 'Chicken of the Sea!' Yes!" And also what I'm wondering, is there Tuna of the Land? And if so, how do they get the tuna to breathe on the land? Do they use the same method, give the fish some human genes which allow them to have lungs, or some other thing? Or do they let the tuna sunbathe out in the open, let it deliquesce out in the open? Who knows. You know, I just don't know. And of course I've had moments as you're prompting. Do I really care to think hard and find a specific moment? No, not really. Although, on a looser sense of the topic, I sometimes randomly, as I'm sitting there or something, think of things I've known of in the past. A good one of those is words. I'll sit there and think of words I haven't used for a while. Once, I couldn't remember the word catharsis. And it was right on my tongue. But I sat there, and eventually it came to me, when I least expected it nonetheless. Also, I've been trying to remember the Latin word for dearest, but it hasn't come to me. . .I should just go find it on the net somewhere at this point.
eleanor
Actually, I didn't know what 'Chicken of the Sea' was, either. I knew it wasn't chicken, but how was I supposed to know it's tuna? I mean...unless it said 'tuna' right underneath it. So Jessica Simpson is probably some sort of genius. We have about three complete idiots at your school who have no common sense like Jessica and they're all freakishly smart academically. You know what they say geniuses... Anyways. During the summer I always get brain-dead. This year someone asked my what 'cynic' meant I answered that it had something to do with jealousy. >_> And sometimes when I'm tired I speak really wierd: "Give me ten money." I really said that when I was about eleven or something; my sister still teases me about it.
Fall
I always get that... Well not always. But I tend to get these 'malfunctions' when I'm very nervous. I often get nervous alot when I'm talking to someone I don't know very well, and I talk to someone new nearly every day. Someone will try and spark up a conversation, we'll talk for a bit, then all will go quiet because I've got nothing to say and I'm staring into 'blankness'. I notice when it happens as soon as I come back to reality. I've never really been embaressed by it, mainly 'cause I'm so used to it that it's nothing to me anymore. Ben
2.) I now look 7 months pregnant so I can also call what I suffered a pregnant moment.
Please forgive me for being out of touch, but are you actually seven months pregnant, or do you just look like you're seven months pregnant? As for those "Jessica Simpson" moments, people I know call them "Brain Farts." You're talking about something, and then you just totally lose your whole train of thought at once and forget everything you just said. It's really weird, and I've noticed that it happens often to people who talk particularly fast.

Charles
O___O Chibi is pregnant? And I didn't know?
It's a well-kept secret. lol Anyway, there are times when I have momentary lapses of the brain but I can't remember any specific examples. So, in a way, that right there exemplifies what is being discussed here.

How could you not know...you're the father! :flaming: I couldn't help myself. I think one of the worst times I had a moment other than Saturday was back in high school during one of the 'Jeopardy' games my U.S. History class to study for a unit exam. The teacher asked a question about the Industrial Revolution and I raised my hadn to answer for the team and then I completely forgot what I was going to say so we lost points for the question. I hate when it happens though because I just get so emberassed. It's kind of annoying as well, you're going along having a conversation or getting ready to ask someoen something then all the sudden your mind goes blank and you just stand there like a jackass in the rain. Zephyr
I've done that on job interviews before. I try to think of the most likely questions that will be asked, and create some sort of answers to them, only to completely blank when they finally ask the question. Of course, that is not nearly as annoying as when a doorway in my house magically turns into a "Threshold Of Forgetfulness." Eveyone knows what I mean. You think of something, walk through a doorway, and immediately forget what it was. Thus causing you to stop in the middle of a room, and take thirty seconds to think about what you were trying to do in the first place. :D
Gelgoog Pilot
Ah yes the threshold of forgetfulness. I know thee well. Often are the times I am in the car about to leave when I remember something. So I get up to my room and BAM! I have no clue why I went in there anymore. Sometimes it comes to me...other times I say ******* it and drive away, leaving something important -_-'. I also have the "brain farts" as I call them too. Though I usually just blame it on my ADD and continue on. It doesn't emmbaress me, Im used to it, and I'll usually remember it later on and spurt it out randomly. :D

eh luu
jessica simpson moments eh? Lately, i have noticed that this summer my brain has been more dead than usual, like yesterday i was talking to my mom about something my friend said.. then suddenly.. i couldnt even remember what he said at all o_o; and i always have times where i go upstairs to get something, and i totally forget what i went upstairs for, i mean i climb the stairs..get to my room..and just sit there like "...now what was i gonna get?" then my friend gave me specific instructions to tell one of my guy friends something, and when i went to tell him... i totally forgot, so i am sitting there like "..now what was it.. i was supposed to say?" and i was trying to piece together what i was going to say..and sometimes i forgot certain words.. and i am like "and uh...uh..." and they are like "...the money?" XD and i am just like "yeah.." XD then yesterday, my friend told me he had t-mobile..and i was like "you have t-mobile? i have voice stream! ^_^;" and then later.. my dad was talking to my uncle and my uncle was talking about switching over to t-mobile, and i was like "dad..when are you gonna put me on t-mobile, since i have voice stream" and my dad just stared at me like "..its the same thing..." -_- so yeah... those would be my jessica simpson moments were i am really really stupid like dyuh... wiccansamurai
I'm not sure if this is a Jessica Simpson moment or not, but today I took a nap in my bed. When I woke up, I was on the couch. O_o I know no one carried me there, which means I got up at some point, walked out of my room, and collapsed on the couch, using a stuffed animal as a pillow. Richard Doherty
Definately had lots of those moments. Probably the most memorable two were at school. The first one was in class, and the teacher was asking for the answer to a literature question. I'm not sure what it was. But as always I was asked and I just looked at him, comletely brain dead, and said, "22?" I found that quite amusing. The other was when me and my two friends got busted for something stupid, and we were sent to the office. I was asked, "So just what were you guys doin anyway?" But while the principal was talking I was thinking about how I burned my friend. So he asked again, and I laughed and said, "Your mom." Oh god. It was worth the two weeks of detention. Ezekiel
Wow, now I don't feel so stupid anymore, here I was thinking that I was all alone in these Braindead moments. This happens to me so much it's unbelievable, and quite cruel. I'll usually be sitting talking with my mum and she asks me a question and I swear I know the answer but when I open my mouth it kind of...walks out without me knowing O_o. Then I just jabber about something else and my mum thinks I'm a freak. But the main thing that happens to me is when I'm chatting online, as most of my friends will know. Many conversations with Sean go like this: OblivionProtect: Jamie? sabbath midnight: Yeah? Oblivion Project: Are you okay? You're not talking sabbath midnight: I know...I was about to and then my brain kinda went ------------------- and it went *beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep* and now I have a headache Oblivion project: lol sabbath midnight: my eye is twitching, I'm going to bed.... *coughs* Another famous quote from me; 'Did you know, that if the clouds weren't there...the sky would be clear?' *sighs* yes, I really am a dumb blond.....
hawke3000
Uh yeah actually. A few years ago my friend offered me a wine gum and I said "No I don't like the taste of wine". Then they laughed at me and told me it tasted nothing like wine. I was really embarresed.
chobit
I have so many "Jessica Simpson" moments it hard to find one.So heres one I did yesterday.I was walking downtown with my friends, eating a cream puff, when a big dollop of cream dripped on to my skirt.Well my brain fell out of my head and did not register that I was outside.I picked up my skirt and tried to lick the cream off, while my friends and half the stree stared at my knickers(which luckily were attractive, not granny).
