Avlen turned off the recording device in her pocket. Apparently the lecture was done, since everyone was hovering between vapid curiosity and absolute sheer holy terror.

That, and the claustrophobia Avlen had been ignoring for awhile came back full force. The silence in the room was cloying, and she could feel her skin start to crawl.

.............

Like a lightbulb flicking on in her head, she stood to attention and spoke, her calm voice bringing a little life back into the room, clearing her head and relaxing her tensed muscles.

"Our stuned silence must be very reassuring Captain."

Every head turned. That girl was speaking again.

"However I believe that we'll be able to perform our duties with efficiency and demonstrate obedience."

Sam rolled his eyes. Like a spring, Avlen turned her head towards him, her eyes narrowing to half their size.

Steffanie sat, her mind reeling. Despite her calm outer layer, her stomach turmoiled, and she resisted the urge to shake. What Allen had just told them unsettled her.

She looked around, and said in a quiet voice, ?To put it bluntly, that scares me. If I thought logically half the time, I would say bullshit to what you just told us ?? Steffanie rubbed her temples, and looked at Avlen.

?As she said ? it must be reassuring to have everyone stock still with horror.?

The girl unfolded her legs, and stood, slowly, every muscle unfolding with her. Standing, she brushed her hair over her shoulder, then put it in a ponytail, eyes attentive. ?It might be easier to relax a bit if we have something to do with our hands.?

Van sighed as he heard Avlen's last remark, nothing could prepare these people for what they were going to face into, nothing, not training or prior knowledge or even the aide of God. He stood up and with a loud but clear cough gained the attention of all those sitting around the table, gazing into the eyes of each of them in turn he spoke in a stoic but calm voice.

Van: I'm afraid that nothing you see here or read in Black Clearance dossiers will prepare you for what you're going into here. As Allen has informed you this will not be a case of pick up and go, each one of you here had better be ready to fight to the bitter end against any and all enemies. You cannot go into this with anything less than everything you've got, if you do then you're dead, these things don't understand compassion or mercy, they'll tear you apart and spit out your remains.

Van watched as each of the new members eyes widened by Van's speech, but Van couldn't care if someone had a heart attack as long as they went in as prepared as they could, the last thing he wanted was to have see the remains of someone he cared about... again. He sat back down and took a large gulp out of his tea before exhaling with vigour, these people were his responsibility, SEALS or no SEALS they'd have to look out for each other on this trip.

Allen: Van is 100% correct here people, this will more than likely be a fight to the death, and I for one would rather come out on top. I'd like you to go and familiarise yourselves with your respective area of the ship, we'll meet back in here for a progress report in 1hour exactly. If you do need to speak with someone use the intercoms provided. [Inhales] Dismissed...

As people stood and shuffled and exited the meeting room, Avlen remained standing, watching Sam out of the corner of her eye. No letting him come up behind her thankyouverymuch. She picked up her breifcase, which had made it to the meeting, and walked out. At the door she turned and watched the Captain and the Doctor. They both appeared to be stricken.

She sighed and was thankful her job didn't include morale boosting.

Once in the hall, she followed the path to her conn, blissful almost at the promise of the shower as soon as she uploaded the information into the computer. She closed the doors behind her and sat down at the console. With a little personalizing, this might suit her well. She set down the recording device and slipped it into its slot at her right hand. Then she pulled the crystal earpiece back into place between her eardrum and earring.

There was a click, a whir, and she heard the entire mission replayed.

She stopped it at a certain point and replayed.

"...was that the Gravity Drive, as Weir called it, tore a hole through our dimension and into another."

Avlen flicked an eyebrow. That didn't sound too unbelieveable. Weir's folders had been left out once. It was very possible. .....what a thought. She made sure the door was locked, then undressed and sat in her chair again.

Clad in black bra and panties, she unhooked the lingerie in the front and looked down at her chest. A half moon scar over her right nipple and and another over her left. Then the etching of the cross over her heart. She sighed and felt the lines that had been slapped onto her skin. Razor blade nicks, rubbed with ash before they healed, creating a raised representation of the crucifix.

"....Father of Lights, keep us from inwardddarkness. In the name of Chi-Rho, amen."

She stood and walked through the door that joined her working quarters to her living quarters. Hot shower.......quickly...quickly...

As everyone began to leave Trini sat stunned in her seat for a moment and came back to reality. Her mind switched to collecting paperwork and she stood quickly and called out to everyone.

"Your medical papers please," she called only a few were out of range of her voice but the other came back searching their briefcases and bags for their medical forms. She thanked each of them individually as they quickly dropped the papers on the desk in front of her, or handed them to her personally.

She stayed at the desk shuffling the forms in hand and stacked them together as the crew dispersed to their work areas. She sat back down in her seat and places her hands on her forehead only thinking for a few minutes. She heard Allen and Van talkingfor a few seconds and sat up straightaway and held the papers in her hand.

She stands up silently and begins to head out of the door when she realizes she didnt see Allens name in the stack. She turned back to the two of them, and walked over to them interrupting their conversation.

"What's up Trini?" Van said noticing her first. Allen turned around to her slowly as her eyes looked up to him.

"Um Allen, your papers, where are they?"

He looked to Van, who looked back and spoke up first.

"I have them Trini." Van spoke.

She turned her eyes back to Van who stayed straigt faced and glanced back over to Allen.

"Well why didn't I see them in the medical bay when you placed yours on my desk?"

Allen clears his throat, drawing Trini's attention back to him.

"Are you trying to skip out on your physical Allen? Cus if you are..."

"Trini! Calm down!" Trini turned her eyes back to Van. It was the first time he had ever raised his voice and she was pretty well surprised to see it happen. But she took it the wrong way still and attacked him with her heating temper.

"Why are you covering for him?" She started. "He's the captain of this ship and he needs his papers here or he needs to get checked out, like NOW!"

Van just looked as Trini spoke her point and burned herself out talking to the both of them.

"You know what? I don't why I waste my breath on stubborn men. Never listen to woman anyways."She began to turn away from them both her thoughts still flaring in her head." Just don't say nuthin when you away from here and some serious bug plagues you ass."

She just kept mumbling as she left the mess hall, sensing her moms thoughs coming into her head. As she kept moving she could only begin to laugh at herself, seeing her moms nagging characterisitics begin to peak. She almost turned back to go apologize but felt it best saved for later. She needed to do a few other things first.

She walked down the hallway and headed for the first person who forgot to hand in their medical papers.

"Communications." she read on the door and tried to move to through the door.

"Locked, how?" She punched in her code and was able to access Avlen's office area and heard a noise coming from the back.

"AVLEN!" Trini walked further into the room and back to the shower area. As she passed the office she noticed many papers scattered about which looked like notes written in various languages. One lookes like Spanish but as she read a few more words she found it out to be Latin and just moved passed the papers and into the shower room.

The noise in the back stopped but Trini continued through looking behind her to make sure Alven hadn't stepped into the office behind Trini. She turned around to find Alven standing looking dead on at Trini.

"I'm sorry," Trini said giggling. "I just came for your medical-" she looked down over Alven's wet body noticing the scars on her breasts and cross over her chest then turned around quickly offering her a lil privacy.
"Um, I'll be out here." She headed out the of the shower room quickly.

Marcus breathed a sigh of relief when the meeting was called to an end; he was the first to the door and well down the corridor before the others were out of the room. Retracing the steps of the ship tour and found himself in the Science Lab. Upon entering he felt much calmer surrounded by experiments and equipment instead of people, 'Maybe this was a mistake, I shouldn?t be here?, Marcus thought as he busied himself with routine tasks like calibrating the sensors of the ship. After hearing the details of the previous mission he was unsure of what use he would be here but the Captain would, undoubtedly, find a use for him. Hell, maybe he was meant to find away to seal this rip in space or figure out why the same thing is happening on Deimos.

Sitting down in one of the chairs the Science Officer could feel his head bubbling with questions and possible answers but nothing that could really tell him what to do next. His mind decided to take him back to the meeting with the USAF General that had assigned him to the mission.

General: ?Now Treming, I understand that you find it hard to work around other people. Correct??.

Marcus: ?Yes sir. I feel much easier if I?m in the lab...I?ve always been that way?.

General: ?Well Treming I have bad news for you; you?re being assigned to the Deimos mission,? Marcus visibly balked, ?This an order, not a request, so you?re to report to the launch site now and await instructions, Understood??.

Marcus: ?Yes sir....erm...isn?t there someone better qualified for the job, I mean I?m sure Mandelson would be much more appropriate...?.

General: No, you?re the best one hands down. No further discussion, I expect you there ASAP?.

Marcus: ?Yes sir.......of course?

He leaned back in his chair and rubbed the strain out of his eyes. It would have been better if the Captain had assigned him rather than being ordered here, maybe the Captain would see him as a liability and order him to remain in his quarters for the remainder of the journey, Marcus would agree with him if it came to that. Getting up sharply he put his hand in his pocket and took on the Voc-Chip with the message for his family that he had recorded what felt like weeks ago, in reality it had been only a few days. Feeling emptiness in the pit of his stomach Marcus resolved to go to the Mess-Hall and grab a bite to eat before going to his quarters. ?Who knows, Steffanie might even make an appearance?.

Feeling slightly cheered up he walked of out the Science Lab leaving his dark feelings behind in the room.

Aveln's lip twitched, and she fought the urge to laugh. If there was something to be said for Trini, she was certainly persistent. She stepped out of the living room, toweling her head dry. With the free hand she shuffled through the files and pulled out several papers and handed them to Trini.

Then she wrapped the towel around her waist and reached for the brush. Twenty strokes in Trini looked up.

"It says you're a syntheste. Will that affect you at all?"

"Seeing images and colors when I hear voices and noises from the ship and crew won't bother me. I'm used to it."

"......I'll mark your paper."

"Although, I beg you to not reveal that information, upon pain of death, to our local head shrinker."

Avlen was looking soulful, tragic even. Trini's grin was electrifying.

"I promise I won't."

"....Good."

Steffanie went to her quarters, and punched in her code. Disappearing into the shower area, she soon had finished. Feeling refreshed, she got dressed in an outfit almost identical to the one she had worn earlier. Steffanie left her quarters, locking them behind her.

The shrink walked down the corridor alone, her shoes silent on the cold, metal floor. She ran her hands through her wet hair, and began to braid it. Steffanie accomplished her wonderful wavy hair by braiding it after each shower, and even if they were on a life-threatening mission, it wasn?t about to change.

Steffanie wasn?t worried; she had already given Trini her papers, and she had quickly gone over her things already.

Before she realized it, Steffanie had wandered to the Mess Hall. She walked towards the doors, and nearly ran head-long into Marcus. She skidded to a stop, and took a step back.

Marcus stepped back too, and then laughed nervously. ?Oops.? Steffanie gave him that unarming smile, and said, ?Its all right. I should have paid attention.?

The girl?s green eyes watched his reaction, and she resisted the urge to laugh. Low self-esteem much? She asked herself silently.

With their last words spoken, Trini left the room and heaed to the other areas of the ship tracking down the few others whose papers hadn't been turned into her.

"Tremming, Marcus." She looked at her list, he was another. She didn't know much about him. Like the other 'freshies', she had so dubbed them, he was someone she would try to keep close tabs on but wasn't going to be too motherly. She soon saw thats how she was reacting to Allen and Van, although they both were older than her.

She hugged the papers in her hands as her shoes echoed down the hall. No other noises were heard as of yet, she only felt chills up her spine as their sounds filled their heads. Those creatures. The blood, some it hers, some Van's. Other patches belonging to Allen, some spots belong to Satell.

Satell. She had almost forgot about her. Her sacrifice. It allowed Trini to stand here today. But not only her but Tex.

Trini stood next to the wall tears beginning to fill her eyes. She threw her head back and felt her lip quiver.

"DAMNIT!" The word echoed off the walls and down the hallway and her arm hit the wall. She pushed herself up and dried the tears that began to form.

I swore myself I wouldn't do this not now, not ever.

She grabbed the papres tigher and began to speed down sending her thoughts else where. Her search. She moved swiftly down the halls looking for Marcus' work station. She got there quickly her mind undetered and her face, probably looking wrecked but she didn't care.

The hydralic door opened with a his and she stepped inside the dark room.

"Marcus Tremming?" She stood as the door remained open behind her. Her body blocking the door from closing.

No answer.

"Shit." she muttered under her breath and moved on. "Now I gotta go search for him."

She grabbed her paper and looked down. Sam was the last one left.

I know where he is, may as well get him now....

She moved away from the science lab on to the cockpit.

Ana was the last of the group to leave the Mess Hall. Trudging her way through the corridors, her bare feet padded the metal grating. Strangely enough, the feeling of her skin squeezing through the small squares relaxed Ana. Her high heels hung loosely between her slender fingers.

Ana sighed, thoughts racing through her mind. Thoughts of the mission to come, of the faces she had met, of the feeling she could not mask. The feeling of being a burden. A burden to Allen, and the remaining of the original crew.

Perhaps I shouldn't have volunteered. I don't feel right here. Not that I'm afraid of this mission, never...but, I don't believe I belong here...

Ana stopped, staring at the heavy, metal doors that read Lt. Gen. Ana Thomas. She depressed the airlock and the doors hissed and opened swiftly. The heavy doors slammed behind her, leaving her to silence and darkness. She flicked the light switch and gazed around her surroundings.

The room was fair sized, large enough for her to move about and work. The decor was official and surprisingly rich. Ana's desk and workstation was constructed from mahogany, the deep reddish brown color matched the twin-size bed. A small desk lamp perched off to the side of the top, two high-back chairs sat infront of the desk.

"Not bad. Especially for the military budget," Ana rolled her eye and threw her shoes to the floor.

She walked over to her bed and plopped down. Her head rolled to the side, staring at the crates that sat behind the desk and workstation. They were crates containing information and her clothes. Ana sat up and decided to take a shower.

Moments later, Ana rummaged through a crate and pulled out casual wear. A pair of light blue jeans, a white button-up, long sleeved shirt, and a pair of brown boots. Twisting her cherry hair into a loose bun, Ana walked over to the mirror. She gazed at herself. Her left eye closed, the eyelid sunk in the place wear the eyeball would have been. The scars ruffled and misplaced the eyebrow. Ana's neck heated up and she slowly slipped the leather patch over her head, fitting it comfortably over her hollowed eye.

Well, I've associated myself with my respected area... Ana turned to exit her office, making her way into the corridor, ..I think I will go take a look around.

She began to wander, looking at the other crew member's doors. Ana soon found herself in the Medical Wing, nearing Sick Bay. She stopped infront of the Sick Bay entrance, noting the names Dr. Van Ambrose and Physician Asst. Trini Angelos. She smiled. She liked Trini. Spunky, serious, and humorous. Trini knew how to care and make people heal, while having a great personality about everything serious.

As far as Van went, Ana respected him. She could not place her finger on it, but there was an essence about Van that demanded a higher position than she. He was calm, mature, and highly intelligent. All aspects that Ana found attractive in a man.

Shaking her head from her thoughts, Ana persued the hall. Finding herself at an intersection, Ana turned right. She spotted Avlen's room and continued on. Avlen, mysterious and quiet. Ana thought her relaxing.

Cpt. Allen Chubb. Ana stopped.

Please...

Sam was sitting alone in the pilots seat. The new bridge was completely protected. The tritanium was the thickest in the cockpit, and the glass was probably made out of some kind of classified matierial. "None of it really matters" Sam though to himself. "I doubt this thing will be able to dodge asteroids like the last one."

In other places in the cockpit were navigation panels, caulk guns, and a first aid station.

"That first aid station would have come in handy..."

No Sam, don't do this now.

"That first aid station would have come in handy when Tex was dying."

With that Sam dropped to his knees and broke down. The tears soon turned into wracking sobs of pain. He starting yelling like an infant who didn't get his favorite toy, thinking the screams would return it to him. But all they brought were painful memories of the woman he had loved. He saw himself stalking her in the shower, attacking her when his friends need help, and Tex in her dying moments.

Deaf from his screams, Sam didn't hear Trini come through the reinforced hydraulic door. He didn't hear her drop her papers and folders. However, he could feel her as she dropped to her knees and cradled Sam like a child. She steadied his rocking body and put his head on her shoulder. From that position Sam let out the rest of his tears, screaming every now and then until he fell into a half sleep.

Jako sat there in his chair, his mind a blank canvas. In the background he was processing all of the information, but it just sounded so...unreal. Remote.

As the others stood up to leave, Jako rose too, and was one of the last into the hallways. Walking around, he wandered aimlessly for some time before coming to his quarters.

Opening the door with the gel-pad, he felt a sense of security as the door swished shut behind him, and the lights came on. It was a fairly decent room. Spartan, minimalistic but nice.

He had a main room with a vidscreen and seating, and a 'bedroom' with an 'ensuite'. If you could call it that. There was a vid-phone in every room.

This would be his home for the next few weeks. Or months. Jako took out his clothes and hung them in the wardrobe that was recessed into the bedroom's wall. After washing his face in the bathroom, he ventured out of his quarters, and headed for the mess hall. Maybe there'd be someone there to talk things over with.

She sat with him in relative silence. His screams continue to come out with breaks of tears in between.

What's going on Sam? Its all she could think about as she held the grown man in her arms her face hugged against his head as he began to quiet himself. She stayed with him for a bit longer until he silenced himself completely before she spoke a word.

And as she spoke the words only could tremble out of her. Unsure of what exactly to say to Sam.

"Are you okay, Sam?" She looked down to him. And he blinked rapidly his face still wet with tears but his eyes seemed bright, and happy.

"Yes, I am right now." He continued to look at her.

"Well I mean what happened. Are you hurt of something?" Against her intuitition she stayed close to him as he dried his face, recounting the events to him. Seeing him on the floor whaling like a kid.

"I'm sorry I worried you," he helped her up from the floor she accepted his hand and stood.

"Well next time if something wrong you should speak to some one. YOu know Van Allen and I are always around to help you."

She turned away for a moment walking over to her papers and remembering suddenly why she came here. Before she could turn around she felt him right behind her his hands around her waist hugging her and smelling her hair.

"I've missed you so much," he said his face nuzzling her neck.

"Um, Sam."

"You don't seem to understand I think about you every night I see you, but not like this."

"W-what are you talking about Sam?" Her voice began to tremble as she felt him tighten his body against hers.

"Ever since you left me I haven't been able to let you go Tex."

Trini's eyes widened as that name repeated countless times in her head. She tried to move away from him but his grip wouldn't loosen.

"Sam, let me go..."

He wouldnt respond his hands still around her waist.

"SAM!" Trini yelled as she tried to move his arms but they remainde there.

"Let me go Sam!" Panic began to course through her as she began to sruggle for him to relase her.

"Why are you doing this Tex? I just want you to be here with me."

"But I'm not Tex-" she began move more

"DON' T SAY THAT! I KNOW YOU ARE!" He swung her arond held her wrists and looked deep into her face. What she saw was no longer the Sam she knew, only hurt and pain and anger filled his eyes.

"I'm not Sam." Tears began to swell her eyes as he drew her closer. She only had one choice. She went straight for the family jewels. He bent down releasing her and she turned for the hyradlic doors.

"TEX!" he yelled and began to move after her.

She made it to the doors that began to open quickly but he was already upon her, quickly renewed from that blow and threw Trini into the wall across from the cockpit.

"WHY DID YOU DO THAT?!"

Trini could only look at him frightened and in pain. She looked around ignoring him looking for something to help her. She saw it. Only an armspan away. The intercom. She shoved Sam away from her and turned back to hit it.

"HHHEELLLPPP!" The blood currling scream echoed into the speaker and then, nothing. Only blackness surrounded her as she felt her body fall to the floor.

Van heard Trini's scream from almost half way across the ship, he couldn't understand how but he knew she was in trouble. Instinctively gripping a tranquilliser he raced out of the sick bay and headed towards the bridge, he just hoped to God he wasn't too late. Van's heart was pumping harder and harder as he ran, pure adrenaline pumped through his veins, he didn't know what he'd be facing into because they weren't even in space yet.

Opening the bridge’s blast-doors he observed Sam leaning over her, he was wheezing from exertion and when he saw Van his face altered into a mixture of what looked like fear and self-loathing. He began to shake looking at his hands and he spoke to Van, little of it made sense, but then again he wasn't a shrink.

Sam: [Sobbing] Oh Van what have I done... I just couldn't help myself... I wanted her to stay with me... but she's gone and I ca... [Hissing of the hypospray]

Van: Don't worry Sam, I'll find a way to help you if it takes everything I have.

Van quickly raced over to Trini and turned her over onto her back, he shut his eyes as he felt for a pulse, too afraid to look at her if she wasn't breathing. He waited... then finally he felt it... a pulse, weak but constant, tears flowed down his eyes in relief. Picking her up with all the strength he could muster Van slammed his hand onto the intercom before proceeding out of the bridge.

Van: THIS IS VAN, WE HAVE A MEDICAL EMERGENCY ALL AVAILABLE MEDICAL STAFF REPORT TO SICKBAY AT ONCE...

There were a few seconds of awkward silence as Marcus avoided Steffanie?s look, he was about to allow her to go in first when they heard Trini?s scream coming tearing through the comm. system. They looked at each other in shock before the realisation slipped in and they both went pelting down to the cock-pit.

They were just around the corner when they heard Van?s voice come through the comm. system calling for all medical staff, picking up the pace a little they were soon inside the cock-pit and what they saw didn?t help qualm the feelings Marcus had about the mission. Sam was sprawled on the floor unconscious while Van had Trini in his arms; she was also unconscious with very shallow breathing.

Marcus: [Softly] ?Bloody hell......what happened to them?? He looked at Steffanie who had her hands to her mouth with wide eyes and then to Van who had a subdued look on his face.

Van: ?I don?t know.....I think Sam may have attacked Trini, seems to be a relapse of what happened to him on the first mission. We might need your help with him, Steffanie? He said fixing her in his gaze. She stood motionless and speechless for a second but she found herself quickly.

Steffanie: ?Of course, what ever I can do to help? There was a slight waver in her voice but she kept her calm very well.

Van: ?Why am I standing here, I need to get her to sick-bay. You two get Sam and bring him as well? Then he started off at a quick step to sick-bay while Marcus and Steffanie took Sam by the shoulder.

The entire announcement reverberated through Avlen's ears and she tore the earpiece out, furious with herself. A nap, and she had left it on. As a matter of fact, she had left it on in the shower. ...nice to know it was water proof.

She jerked herself out of bed, naked to the waist. With a quick jump, she slid open the closet doors and pulled out her functional jeans, a shirt made of commando cloth, and boots that snapped down the sides and laced through. Then, with expert movements, she threaded the crystal earpiece into her ear and fiddled with the control, which was welded onto her earring..... ....moving the sound down to a more suitable micron level, she dragged a comb through her messy hair and prssed it into place.

She had already placed her knife over the bed and she snatched it off its holding pins and slid it down against her calf.

"Okay Trini....I knew Sam was going to go nuts. And we're not even off the ground yet."

She sighed and walked out the door, into the dimmed hallway. Once there she sighed and looked around. Then she set off at a lope for the medical bay. Once there, she braced herself and walked in. Trini was down for the count, but then again, so was Sam. Instead of Trini, she stalked quietly over to Sam's bed and looked down at him. His face looked gaunt, tortured even, and she heaved yet another sigh. ....Tragic.

"Tragic."

Van was observing Trini with an extremely benign expression on his face.

"How is she?"

"Just fine. A little rattled, but stable."

"....good then. What about Sam?"

"We'll wait for the head shrinker."

Steffanie had a grim look on her face, and her jaw was set in determination. She and Marcus followed Van to the sick-bay, Sam in between them. Steffanie?s footing was as sure as ever, but somehow she regretted coming.

The psychiatrist?s face was pale as they lay the two out, Sam across the room from Trini. Steffanie asked quickly, ?Van how long is this thing going to keep Sam out??

Van was still checking Trini for major wounds. ?About five more minutes.?

Steffanie nodded. She looked up at Marcus, and her look was nothing like it had been a few minutes ago. She was all business now. ?Marcus, we may need a restrainer. As much as I hate to use one, it may be necessary.?

Steffanie turned to Van. ?Van, did he say anything?? Van nodded absently, and told her what Sam had said before getting a face full of tranqs. Huh. Wanted her to stay? Delusional. He probably thought Trini was someone else ? and from the sound of it, someone who?s dead, now.

The doctor looked over as Sam mumbled something, and his eyes opened slowly. He tried to sit up, but Steffanie pushed him back in the medical bed gently, her tones soothing. ?Its all right, Sam. No one?s going to hurt you. Just relax.? Marcus was standing nearby, looking slightly anxious.

Sam looked at Steffanie, his eyes full of hatred, and then they glazed over. He leaned back into the pillows, arms crossed and mumbling, ?Why? Tex, why did you resist me??

Steffanie was alert, listening, and she sat down next to the bed, attentive. Sam swallowed, and he brushed tears of hatred and sorrow away feircly. ?All I wanted was you?? Steffanie motioned Marcus over, and told him, ?Tell Van. Tell Van what he said.?

Steffanie said, softly, ?Sam, calm down. Who?s Tex?? Sam seemed to regain himself, and looked at her. ?You. You?re the god-damned shrink, aren?t you?? Steffanie winced inwardly, and said, ?Rant at me all you want, Sam, I?m here to help you.? Slowly and carefully she explained what he had done, and why she thought that. Sam watched her with a look of pure disbelief.

Heh I might be tempted to do a bit of brain surgery on Sam if he doesn't settle down.

While Steffanie was examining Sam, Van had moved Trini onto one of the new Bio-Beds, they were inherently similar to most other medical beds except for a sliding medical scanner which slid out from the wall the beds were attached to. Van moved the scanner carefully over Trini watching for even to most minute injury, "Dammit Sam, what the hell is wrong with you" he thought angrily. The scanner beeped before emitted it's blue scanning beam, the beam moved up and down Trini's body as Van mumbled away to himself

Van: Heart... lungs... stomach... liver... and kidneys. [sighs] They all check out, apart from a pair of cracked ribs and a concussion she should be fine.

Van walked over to the restrained Sam, the table he was restrained upon was similar to the one Trini lay upon except for the fact that it was equipped with restraints. Van could still hear Sam moaning about Tex, he should have guessed it, he'd heard what he guessed now were more than just rumours, rumours that Sam had done some pretty weird things during the last fortnight.

Sam was mumbling still incoherently but Van was a little tired of this shit and wanted his full attention. Grabbing Sam by the shoulders Van began to shake him while shouting at him, Sam suddenly shook "awake" and began to speak in a quick, worried tone.

Sam: Van, Van where are you, please it's Tex she's hurt and needs your help.

Van: [Shaking even harder] Sam, Tex is dead !! You, Allen, Trini and I were the only survivors. [Almost shouting] Snap out of it or I'm going to have to sedate you !!

Van was visibly enraged at what Sam had done but it wasn't Sam who was going to get the brunt of it, their liaison Jako was going to get his first taste of Van's famous temper.

Van: [Shouting into the intercom] Jako get your ass to my sick-bay on the double...

At first, Steffanie watched Van without a word. But when he yelled, her temper snapped. Her hard-to-break, impossible rope of temper snapped.

Steffanie walked up, and put herself between Van and Sam. Her voice was icy, and her words blunt. ?Sir, you will kindly leave my patient alone.?

Van looked at her in shock, which quickly turned to rage.

?HE-? Steffanie said firmly, ?Is ill in the head, under depression, and I will not have you coming in and traumatizing him!? Her words were vicious and angry. ?I do not care if you are the head doctor, Van. He is my patient, I know what he should have done to him, and you will not tell me otherwise.?

The last sentence was firm, cold, and her voice still trembled with carefully suppressed rage. She forced herself to calm down, and said, ?Go ahead and yell at Jako, I am not going to stop you. But you will not come in and break my patients neck when he is obviously not well in the head, and when his victim is still alive.?

OOC: LOL I know. ^^ Her natural reaction. That is one of the only things that gets her ticked: someone messing with her patients.

Allen- "Out." Heads swiveled in the room toward the doorway. Allen was standing in the doorway, the doubledoors remaining open, with his arms dangling at his sides. He was slightly slumped, yet his eyes were alert and dark. The lights cast odd shadows about him, giving the face of the captain an ominous and unearthly look. "Now."

Van- "Allen..." Allen stepped to the side, leaving the doorway open and not allowing the door to close.

Allen- "All of you. Now." Steffanie steped toward Allen.

Steffanie- "I won't allow you to hurt my patient any more than he has already been." Allen closed the short distance between them in one stride, making Steffanie take a small step backward, his face ending up no less than half an inch from hers.

Allen- "You will leave this medical bay right now or I will personally thorw you off of this ship and ruin your carrer for the rest of your life. I gaurantee you will never work again in anything but a janitorial postiton." His eyes narrowed, seemingly to demolish all traces of white, leaving black slits. "Now go." Steffanie, flabbergasted at such a threat from a usually calm and goodnatured man, walked through the doors, followed by every other person except for Sam, Trini, and Van. The doctor walked up to Allen.

Van- "You hurt him, and you'll have someone else to threaten."

Allen- "I love Trini as much as you... Now leave." Van stared at Allen a moment longer. With a noise of disgust, he left the medical bay. Allen stepped all the way in, allowing the door to begin closing. "Computer seal medical bay doors, authorization Chubbs Omega 19. Unseal for Captain only." Van whirrled around and ran back to the door.

Van- "ALLEN NO!" The door sealed just before he slammed into it, the immediate pounding of his fists no more than a dull thump, his voice inaudible. Allen moved his eyes over to the cringing Sam. His shakes kicked up another notch.

Sam- "Allen?" Allen walked slowly over to Trini. He looked over the medical scans, letting the silence thicken like Liverpool fog. He examined the spots where the ribs were broken. Two slight breaks, easily healed with a bit of osteo-therapy. Sam sat up slowly and carefully, not removing his eyes from Allen. "She needs help Allen... Without it she'll...' Allen crossed the room quickly, shoving the medical device back into the wall a bit more roughly than he should have.

Allen- "Do you know what you did!?" Sam cringed away, trying to dissapear into the bed. "Do you know who you ATTACKED!?" Sam stared into Allens firey eyes, oblivious to the truth.

Sam- "Tex... It was Tex... She was resist-" Allen slapped him across the face.

Allen- "It was not Tex! She is DEAD!!!" Tears began rolling down Allens face. He was reliving the moments of her death in his head. Allen grabbed Sam by the shirt and lifted him off the ground. He carried the man across the room, his toes barely touching the floor. "TRINI!! TRINI is who you attacked!!" Allen shoved Sams face an inch away from hers, a firm fist in his hair. Sams face contorted, seeming to be seeing Texs corpse on the table. Allen stood him up and slapped him again, harder, splitting his lip. Sam yelped and sqyeezed is eyes shut. Allen shoved his head back down near Trinis. "LOOK!! LOOK DAMN YOU!!" Sam opened his eyes, a small pool of red collecting on the sheets of her bed dressing. His face contorted again, then cleared. Tears rolled silently down his face, mixing with the blood of his split lip.

Sam- "My God... What have I done..." Allen released his grip and put his arms around Sam. Sam hugged him back, keeping his eyes on Trini. "Allen... I... I..."

Allen- "Sam... It's ok..." He walked him back to the adjacent bed and sat him down. "Don't let it happen again." Allen sat next to him and put his arms around Sams shoulders. "You're stronger than this. I know you are." Sam began shaking slightly. "If it happens again, I'm going to have to prevent you from participating in this mission." Sam nodded furiously. His shakes subsided after a while. "I'm going to open the door. Ok?" Sam nodded, wiping tears from his eyes. "Computer, unseal medical bay doors."

"What happened?!" Ana huffed, placing her hands on her knees.

She had heard all of the commotion, but only arrived too late. The Sick Bay's doors were shut tightly. Van's eyes burned with rage, but his face remained still. He blinked, realizing Ana had slid to his side.

"Sam attacked Trini," blunt, his voice blunt and infuriated.

"Oh God, is she alright?"

"She'll be fine. Just a couple of broken ribs and a bit shaken, but she'll be fine."

Silence drifted into the lingering air. Ana stood straight and watched for any movement from the doors. Van as well.

"What was he thinking?" Ana let her hair down.

"He wasn't," Van turned to face her.

"This has something to do with Tex, doesn't it?"

Van's face flinched and he looked away, "Yes. Sam fell in love with her, madly in love with her. And that is not a euphemism, Sam went insane. He attacked her many times, but she finally broke through his madness and relieved him. To his, and everyone's dismay, Tex died...in his arms. Ever since then, he's never recovered."

Ana listened intently, her face drew pity for Sam. Van sighed and leant against the wall, waiting both impatiently and patiently.

"Why are you here, Ana?" Van looked once more at her.

"Honestly?"

Van nodded.

"I wanted to pay amends for the previous mission. I feel partially responsible for the deaths of the Bladerunner's mission. There were things that could have been done to prevent-"

"No. There was nothing anyone could have done to prevent the tragedy of the Bladerunner's mission. No one could even fathom what happened up there. No one could have done a God damned thing to stop it...not even God himself," Van pushed himself from the wall and walked up to Ana.

They fell to silence. Ana nodded to herself. Van opened his mouth to speak, his voice was replaced by the hissing of the doors. Both Van and Ana twirled around, Van bursting ahead into the Sick Bay. Ana soon behind him.

"Allen! What did you do to him?"

"I woke him up."

Ana's eyebrows lifted, a small smirk trickled across her face. She looked to Trini and walked to her bedside, taking her hand.

Trini coulld hear a bit of the sounds around her. Footsteps pounding on the walkway. Yells ringing off the wall but nothing awaked her. Her senses fell dead again.....

An unknown amount of time lapsed again before her hearing came back again. She heard Sam's crying.

SAM! Her mind raced with what had happened but she couldn't open her eyes just yet. She played it in her head trying to remember what is was that set her him off.

"Allen! What did you do to him?" she heard a feminine voice ring through her ears.

"I woke him up." Allen replied cooly.

Trini felt a hand touch her and she slowly opened her eyes only to close them again and move her arm in response.

"TRINI?!"

"She's waking up?" she heard Van's voice and he also came over to her looking down on her at the table.

"Take it easy Trini. You're okay." Allen also came beside her and she opened her eyes again slowly.

"The light," she got out, her voice barely registering to their ears.

"What's wrong Trini?

She began to speak again, swallowing as her hand finally reached over to cover her eyes.

"That damned light." A smirk appeared on her face. "Turn it out or something."

Arriving to her quarters, Gabriella managed to open the doors. Letting the open space accommodate her, Gabriella threw her things onto the floor and stood in the middle of her room. With a sigh, she looked to the table and laid her laptop, palm pilot, MP3 player, voice recorder and tapes, as well as her Desert Eagle onto the table. With another sigh, Gabriella sat in the chair and reviewed what was spoken earlier.

Finishing the tape, Gabriella started a new entry. She spoke, once again, in swift Korean, leaving in pieces of English. In this entry, she spoke of the people, the security, and the like. Rarely did Gabriella ever get along with the crew, yet perhaps this would be an experience she could handle, perhaps not. With, yet, another sigh, Gabriella placed the tape recorder down and turned her laptop on. She clicked on a strange icon which brought up a search screen. With this, Gabriella began to search for the crew members? files and the like. She started with,

?Avlen Arboreal. Communications Specialist. An Ex-marine. Hmm, much like my mother. Elected to ASVAB?and well, from what I gather about her, she?s an anti-socialist who seems to have a taste for many unorthodox things. Or perhaps, I am mistaken, who knows?

Next is? Charles Hendrix. Lieutenant Colonel Charles Hendrix, eh? Seems to be a suck-ass to me. Why is it that all the times I arrive as security or otherwise, I am stuck with someone like him? I despise people like him.

Next is? Sam Tiller. Oh, the head shrinker?and it seems an old fire was never burned out. Hmm, depressing, yet, if this gets in the way of the mission, it may grant us damage. Alas, what can I do? Only one thing. To the next person.

I know much about Ana and I never question her eye, nor do I question anything about her. So, the next is?.Gavin Ambrose. Also known as ?Doc? or ?Van?. He was on the previous mission, as was Trini Angelos, who is his assistant. Hmm, let us see what she?s all about.

Trini Angelos. A med student who knows of Sam, Van, and Allen. She was saved by the last Communications Specialist?would she need to be saved once more on this mission? Hell, would anyone need to be saved??

Rubbing her eyes, Gabriella sat back for a moment before reviewing the rest. The members left were Allen Chubb, Marcus Tremming, and Steffanie Littleton.

?Start with?Steffanie Littleton. It says here that she is a psychiatrist and a doctor. Intrigued with medicine, it seems.

Now, Marcus Tremming. Science officer. Specializes in Geography.

And last, but not least, Captain Allen Chubb. Of course, he lead the last mission. And, it seems that he despises Rawson and despises this mission. I wonder what made him this way?well, at least I have invoice of the members of the crew. At least, I know who to respect and who to despise. Why must it always come down to this? Jjajeung nanda. (Annoyance is setting in.)?

On the out side Charles was as calm and cool as could possible be expected with his head spinning from all the things that were being forced into it. He was kneeling at his bed praying, "Protect us our father, for your arm is mighty, shield us from evil as we pass the fires of Hell. May your divine intervention be placed over us all so that we may return to the land you created for us." Short, sweet, and to the point. Charles stood, crossed himself, and picked up the fist sized gold tone cross he had placed on the bed. He slipped the cross back on its chain and placed it back on his neck, tucking it under his jacket.

Suddenly the intercom came on, Van was yelling about a medical emergency. It took Charles a few moments for it to settle in his head, We haved even left Earth yet.

By the time he got to the med by Trini had already come around. Sam had tears in his eyes and a cut on his lip. "You ok mate?" He asked as he came up to Sam.
"Yea, Im fine." he replied. Charles just patted him on the shoulder, he had little idea what Sam was going through so he couldn't offer any more.

From the bits and peaces that he picked up Charles soon started to understand what had happened. In his hart he felt sorry for Sam, he had gone through something Charles couldn't fully understand. But for all the sorrow in his hart the look in his eyes when he glanced at the captain was plain as day, "Who let him on this mission?"

Marcus sat at the edge of his bed staring directly at the wall. It had been an hour or so since Trini and Sam had come out of the Sick-Bay and both were doing fine, though Allen had told Marcus and the others to keep an eye on him just in case. He had been in his quarters since they had come out and he had been going over it in his mind.

If people were already being affected by what ever the hell was on Deimos and they weren?t even in space yet what was the point of Marcus going along, apart from being cannon fodder.

Marcus: [Softly] ?Fucking hell, what?s the point to all this. I mean why are we here and what?s the mission really about? God damn it!? He punctuated the sentence by punching deep in to the soft mattress of his bed. He rarely swore and hardly, if ever, resorted to showing his emotion physically but this ship, this mission and as little as he wanted to admit it so was the crew but the crew was a different matter.

He stood up sharply and strode over to his desk, sat down and took out his journal and began pouring his thoughts onto the pages with speed. When ever he felt like he was going to be over taken by his emotions he would resort to free association writing and read his pain instead of inflicting it on others.

He stopped after about fifteen minutes and saw things on the page he never thought he?d write let alone think about. Tearing the page out and throwing it into the corner he turned around and crashed back on to his bed.

?I doubt that helped but I can?t do much else I can do on the damned ship. I?m keeping the Sam at arms reach for the rest of the mission, further if possible...? His train of thought was interrupted by a knock at his door. Flipping onto his back he paused for a minute deciding if he wanted someone to talk to right now.

Marcus: ?....Come in?
