ColourDeaf
Now, I've not been to many anime conventions, but there always seem to be a league of cosplayers of all levels of quality, and all seem to have a favourite character to cosplay as. now this led me to wonder wether anyone here either has cosplayed, or would every consider it? Personally, there is only one person I would actually cosplay as, and that is Jet from Cowboy Bebop, and only when he's in the white suit he wears. This is because:

There aren't a whole lot of black anime characters
There aren't a large amount of big anime characters that aren't just goofy
Jet rocks (I think he's much cooler than Spike - but please, hold your rotten fruit for now)
I need an excuse to where a pimpin white suit and hat
Hair's easy - just need to shave most of my head (which will be hidden by a hat and I could just shave the rest later anyway)
What about you? Okita
I have cosplayed before, though the occassion for it is far less frequent than in the State where there are cons that are held frquently. I've done a couple of cosplay, one is a group cosplay as the crazy 88 and the other (which is far more better) isn't really that hard to figure out.... (hint: look at my nickname ^_^) I've grew my hair long to look like Soujiro, It's halfway down my back right now... the only authentic piece I'm missing is a real katana, the one i have is a cheap imitation set that couldn't chop firewood more than twice... (that and 3 shinai and 2 bokuto) I'm even taking kendo to make my roleplaying more authentic! I'm currently saving cash to try and get a real set from my sensei, though I'm uncertain if a need a licence to acquire the daisho set...
Camlaren
Well, to date I haven't cosplayed or even gone to an anime con *sigh* I could see myself possibly doing it if I ever went to an anime con but the idea of dressing up isn't all THAT appealing to me. I love anime and manga but cosplaying as a character isn't that huge of a deal to me, plus being the perfectionist freak I am it would have to look good, which is a bad thing, because I also suffer from severe laziness O__o; I would have to be able to find a character I look similar to... I was actually thinking of cosplaying as Youko from Juuni Kokki in her royal attire this year, but I won't even be able to go to the con, so the idea's off =P EDIT: And now, after watching the first OVA of Otaku no Video, I've decided to NEVER cosplay o.o *shivers*
Dead Alice
I have yet to go to a con, but you can't forget Halloween! I love dressing up. I think the easiest person for me to cosplay as would be Kenshin. My grandma made me a pair of white hakama and a red gi, and I have a katana. All I'd have to do is dye my hair orange, paint a scar on my face and wear my gi really lose so no one could see my chest. ^^;; I'd also love to cosplay as Miho from MegaTokyo, but her hair alone would be very hard to duplicate. Katana
Ah, cosplaying. Nope, I never done it. But I would definetly love to. As of the moment, I could play Tamahome from Fushigi Yugi, since I cut my hair really short. I've thought about who I could cosplay, and ideas range from being Haruko of FLCL to Yusuke of Yu Yu Hakusho. At the moment, I'm trying to convince one of my friends to be a Red Racoon Dog with me (if you haven't read the fourth manga of Azumanga Daioh, you wouldn't get it) for Halloween. Unfortunately, I own nothing along the lines of authentic Japanese accessories. I really want a kimono though...*dreams*...
Trigun 11
Cosplay...... I've never been to an anime-can but Hey like the others said, Halloween. For Halloween, My friends ( Anime Phreaks as we calls us) pick an anime and we cosplay it as a group. We've cosplayed InuYasha( Kagome for meh and IY for my best guy friend.... WHo ever thought that up is going to die), Rurouni Kenshin, Trigun ( And I HAD to be Vash just cause I was tall and blond... Grrr...) And this year we going to cosplay as Cowboy Bebop... I'm going to be Ed cause there is no way in HELL I'm cosplaying as Faye.....
MangoPenguin
I have cosplayed, but only twice as of yet. I was Nami (from One Piece) and Shanks (also from One Piece) at MTAC 4.01. In about...a bit more than a month now, I'm going to AWA, and will be cosplaying Kiki (Kiki's Delivery Service), Kaya (One Piece...okay, three guesses to my favorite anime), and a classic/country Lolita. So yes, I'm definately into cosplaying. There's just something really gratifying, to me anyhow, about creating costumes and acting the role of the character...and I'll never get tired of people asking for pictures! Soliel
I have cosplayed and I have been to an anime con, I've just never cosplayed at an anime con. I've actually only cosplayed twice, both were for Halloween. The first time was as Sailor Jupiter from "Sailor Moon." I figured this would be easy since I already had long-ish, brown hair. It wasn't too big of a disapointment but I still think I could have done better. The second time I dressed as Sango from "Inuyasha." That one was a disaster, mostly because I bought a cheap wig and I did most of the sewing last minute.
wolfy129
I had my first convention this year, (AnimeNEXT 2004) and a friend of mine helped me come up with a cosplay character. No character I know of really looks like me without myself having to spraypaint my hair or something. (Brown hair, Brown eyes. Go Figure. =^-.-^=) Anyway, my friends helped me get ears and a tail, and I was Maha. (.hack//SIGN) Personally I thought it was fun! The fact that people knew who I was amused me, but the fact people kept running into my hat kinda irritated me. =^n_n^= I think I might just go as myself next year however, or bring my old costume along... =^-._-.^= Unless a nifty Anime character I look a little bit like floats down on a cloud, I think that's my plan. =^n_n^=
Anne
Well I have been cosplaying for six or seven years now. I have lost count on mhow many outfits I have made and what characters I have been. I do the whole shabang, wigs, contacts and ones even cutting my hair. Normally I am not that chosey I have played guys and girls. I think my first person I cosplayed as though was Sakura in her cat battle outfit. I think my favourite male I played as Zidane from FF9. His outfit took 6 month to be complete and took an hour to do the makeup. My fabourite female I have cosplaye dso far was Sumomo/Plum from Chobits. It was so much fun I would dance around whenever my friends cell phone would ring. I carried around a tamperine and a small chalkboard for props. i don't just cosplay at cons but I will just make the outfits and wear them around as regular clothing. I also wear my wigs with them. Yes I am an obssessed cosplayer and proud of it.
sakura18
OMG!!! I love to cosplay!!!! >-< I actually HAVE cosplayed about once or twice. One occasion i think i went as Dark Sakura from Street Fighter. And on the other one I TRIED to go as FFX Rikku. It's hard to cosplay Rikku when you're a reddish-brown headed, Tan skinned girl like me... I got the hair and personality right but i wasn't workin' with the outfit......it didn't go right with my skin color.....T.T
Guest ScirosDarkblade
If I were to cosplay I'd have to pick between Wolfwood (Trigun) or Sousuke (Full Metal Panic!). I've never done it because A) I'd lose 40% of the respect my friends have for me in all seriousness, and B) it's expensive and it'll never end up like I'd want it to (the costume, that is). So I haven't done it and I'm not sure I ever will. For Halloween I do actually scary stuff. No anime. I wear some scary mask and huge claws and a spooky robe and something else and then I scare the crap out of little kids. We had little kids trick-or-treating at my dorm in 2002 and we had pillows on the ground and black garbage bags lining the walls and covering the lights, so when I jumped out at a whole line of them they all tripped over each other and fell. It was hilarious. So, no Sousuke. He's not scary.
roxybudgy
I would never cosplay, I have seen some pictures of cosplayers and they are all so weird looking, especially the one of that woman who dressed up like Rei Ayanami (it was basically a tight white suit with lines drawn across it, set off with a bright blue wig) I think people should only cosplay if they look like anime characters, for example, my little sister looks alot like Nyamo from Love Hina, lol. MarkAnthony
I generally have the appearance of a typical anime character and to cosplay many I would have to put in little effort (my nick back in college was manga guy because of this) with this in mind I probably would, especially if it was for a laugh. ...However id have to agree with roxybudgy that most cosplayers you see on the internet look very little like who they set out to be and just make themselves look stupid (no offence meant to anyone) I would hate to be classified amongst the same. Sosogomi
As a big girl its hard to cosplay as anyone cool so I don't normally do it with the exeption of if its a guy and I have the peices for it.
araina rinu
i would absolutely love to cosplay!!! except.... ive never even been to a con... and would prolly be equally lazy or a perfectionist about the outfit. mainly because i would not want to look silly at all. but if i could pull outfit(s) together i would be 1)sango from inuyasha, though i think the skintight thing would be hard to pull together.... 2)dorothy from big o, simple style dress, the hardest part would be the ruffles, but i could wear it two days and add a blood red cape and become the evil android 3) yui from fushigi yugi in a summoning outfit would be cool too (but only if my roomate is miaka summoning ^_^) 4)school uniform girls: a) chidori kaname from full metal panic b) honda tohru from fruits basket c) yukino miyazawa from his and her circumstances d) yui and miaka can belong down here too, but their outifts are brown.... i like all these characters, and making a school girl uniform is probably easiest, since you can actually buy a pattern for those sorts of clothes. but oh man if i could pull together the money to go to a con and get stuff for a costume/accessories, you bet id go. it woudl be so much fun to pretend to be someone else. also to be around a LOT of other people who love anime just as much as you do. thats a rareity around me.
Azure Rose
I have never cosplayed myself, but I absolutely love seeing other people dress up! Some of the pictures I've seen are just incredible. Some make you want to say "Oh my god that is horrible!" and others "Wow that person looks really cool!" The most awful cosplay I've EVER seen was a Comic Con. A large, VERY HAIRY man was dressed up like Faye from Cowboy Bebop! I simply could not believe how bad he looked in short shorts and a tiny weeny top. ::shudders:: I think there should be a law against hairy men dressing as Faye or any equally scantily clad characters! Anyway, if I ever did cosplay I think I would want to go as Ichigo from Tokyo Mew Mew (because her battle outfit is just so cute!) Cheza from Wolf's Rain (Cheza is simply awesome, and wearing red contacts would kick butt!) or Yukino from Kare Kano (it would be a very easy costume!) Hee hee, however, this is a big IF. I'd rather watch other people look silly :p
Dregen
I've never been to a con or Cosplayed but I would love to do both exceppt that I don't find many black anime chars. However since i do workin a theater company if I had the money for the costume I could actually pull of Naruto with the makeup we stock here i would get a wig and probably get the costumer to help me with the fabrics. MangoPenguin
Azure Rose, I pity you--you found the ManFaye. Hallelujah that I have never been to a con with him before! My boyfriend cosplayed once as Mister Two from One Piece--a ballerina-like man with a pink cape, puffy Shakespeare-style pants, lots of makeup, and giant swans on his back. I'm still not sure how to react to that! *lol*
Queen Asuka
I have ALWAYS wanted to cosplay, and I can't believe that I haven't done it already. I guess the reason is because I don't have the time or resources available to me because if I was going to do it, I would do it RIGHT and not a halfway job. I always wanted to do Asuka Langely just because she was my favorite anime character for such a long time and it would be pretty easy considering I used to have the same hair as her. But nowadays it seems that she is so overdone and not even in a good way. I REALLY want to do Chi from Chobits. She is so beautiful and so gentle and I would KILL for her wardrobe. *Sigh* I guess it's just a dream of mine. There is an anime club here at UGA called UGAnime and they are pretty big into cosplaying, but I've never gotten around to going to meetings or joining because it's on Monday night, which is a pretty hectic night for me. Maybe someday, though.
