Jim McGrevy Comes Out!!!

I just saw this on the news the other day. Jim McGreevey, former Governor of New Jersey, just came out of the closet and resigned at the same time. I'm not really all that surprised. At least, about him resigning, that is. He was an awful Governor.

I'm not saying that Christie Todd Whitman was much better, but when a Governor proposes to merge two well-known colleges (Rutgers University and TCNJ) with a few other smaller schools, so The New Jersey Institute of Arts, Science, and Technology, or some utterly ridiculous name like that, I begin to doubt just how competent my Governor is, lol.

Then, when he proposes to essentially cut all of the Arts programs of colleges across NJ, I get a bit pissed. I'm very supportive of the performing arts here at Rutgers, having been involved in their theatre program for about three years now, acting and/or doing support roles (programs, posters, etc).

McGreevey may have done one good thing by revamping the DMV, but other than that...he was pretty much a lame duck.

Anyone have any thoughts in their pretty little heads?

I too live in California and I have a comment on this.

Jim resigned in the most gruesome way possible. Now EBaums World and everybody can make fun of him. I never heard about him until I saw the news o.O;;;

I don't understand what about Mr. McGreevey's resignation was "gruesome," not to mention amusing. Could you clarify this, please?

Governor McGrevy's announcement that he is gay sure was unexpected and it's good that he's resigning, although I'm surprised his resignation isn?t immediate. Not that I have any trouble with a gay governor; his affair and the disturbing allegations surrounding it should be (and are) the reason for his departure from public office.

Not exactly the best person to become America's first gay governor?

It doesn't really affect me at all that the govenor of New Jersey resigned. I live in New York, we have Hilary Clinton as our govenor...much scarier than Arnorld.

It does bother me that he had an affair. I could care less who he was sleeping with and I don't know why he decided to broadcast the fact that he cheated on his wife with a guy. But still the fact that he had the affair was pretty bad.

I kind of feel sorry for his wife. I mean how would you like to be the woman who finds out that your husband is cheating on you with a man? To me that's worse than a guy cheating on me with another woman. At least if that was the case you wouldn't wonder that if you were so bad in bed you had him interested in men. That's got to be pretty sucky on her part.

You're right, he is, but I think Hilary would do a better job of being govenor than Wacky Pataki. We haven't passed a budget on time in 20 years now and the school districts are suffering. I figured that a bit of wishful thinking would help things along for the next election.

But I have an excuse for why I can't remember the govenor of New York. All I remember is voting in the November 2000 election then I moved to Texas in 2002. I only got back to New York in November 2003. There's three years that are a complete blurr. That and it was 11: something, I'm lucky I can have soem complete sentances at this time and remember that Hilary Clinton is in something in New York (she's a senator, right?) Oiy, now I have to go listen to CNN or something.
