I saw this movie yesterday. There's a LOT to say about it, and I'm gonna have to say most of it later. But there are several things you have to know:

1. It's really short. 87 minutes.
2. The special effects are great, as are the sound effects. The technical teams are talented.
3. The plot is absolute nonsense. I haven't looked into Siren's (OB member) complaints about chronology problems in relation to Alien and Predator and so forth, but even if he's right believe me that's the least of the problems this film has. The least by far.
4. There are so many little problems it's hard to keep them all straight in my head. Just things the various characters say, regarding science, history, etc.
5. The "hero" Predator is ridiculously awesome. He runs really slow for some reason, but he's awesome.
6. The alien queen is totally awesome as well.
7. Antarctica is apparently very warm. You can walk around in a shirt and pants and you're good to go.
8. The Predators can thermoregulate better than you'd think. Fire, insane cold, whatever. They've got their fishnet shirt on and it's good enough for any weather.

Only watch this movie for some old-school Predator butt-kicking. There's literally NOTHING else. I was laughing so hard at all the bullcrap in the last 20 minutes of the movie that I almost passed out.

I'd only see this for the action... sadly, that's really not why I watch Alien films. From what I've seen of this movie, they bombard you with so many xenomorphs in plain view that they seem to lose any sense of terror they once had. Oh well.

I wasn't expecting it to be a hotshot anyway, so I'm not dissapointed. I suppose you're all right though, AvP should be good for a few action scenes and nothing else.

By the way, is it "scary" in the way that the Alien films were (or at least has a high suspense rate)?

AVP was a good movie , it was short I wish it was a little longer. ScirosDarkblade is right about this movie being old- school Predator butt - kicking . If your a hardocore Aliens lover you won't like it or maybe you will. I loved this movie just because it had Predator and that was good enough for me.

If their is a sequal it better be like that old school Aliens Vs Predator arcade game were earth was under attack by Aliens. You could pick that guy with the robotic gun arm and Predator with no mask and one with a mask, remember that game.

Boy, the Aliens are really slumming to be in a film with the Predators. Aliens:Predator::Cowboy Bebop: Pokemon. Anyway...

I expect the movie was completely ambiguous to which species was superior (cough*Aliens*cough), the effects were awesome, splashy and a bit over-the-top, the plot is pointless and at some point, there'd be a Alien-Predator hybrid. (You can't not at least feature it, if you've gone this far.) I may see it, or I may opt to take my little sister to see Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Movie instead. You know, whatever works.

I have to say that this was one of my favorite 2004 summer movies. It showed alot more emotion in the Predators kind. That's all I'm spoiling for you people.

Anyway. It has a well thought out plot, awesome action scenes, and better graphics.

I was going for Predator the entire time and let's just say that I was satisfied with who won.
I recomend this mvoie to people who love the Predator/Alien movies and any other action movies. You will love this.

AvP was alot better than I expected it to be, honestly. I really thought I was wasting a lump of money and time to see it in the theater. Rather, the movie really was pretty good. I will hand it to you, Darkblade, that the storyline/plot was a tad ridiculous and it kept jumping from one topic to another; causing slight confusion.

But, all in all, I liked it.
