Guest ScirosDarkblade
Bryan Singer has left X-Men 3 (probably didn't want the headache of getting the cast back together and worrying about salaries, etc. I don't know). Anyway, he's directing the new Superman movie (instead of McG, thank goodness). He's gotten rid of the loser screenwriters Superman had and I think brought over his own, awesome team. Anyway Superman might now actually turn out great as long as the casting is good (Tom Welling would work; have you seen him in the "flashback" Smallville episode where he has his hair slicked back 50's style? Totally Superman, 100%). But what's gonna happen to X-Men 3? The inconclusive ending of X2 forces X-Men 3 to work with the Phoenix Saga just a bit, and heck, forget about that, who's gonna live up to the directing of Bryan Singer? There's nobody out there! And same goes for the screenwriters! Dammit!! Oh, and Halle Berry says she's not gonna do any more comic book films unless it's a Catwoman sequel. ROTFL. Well, I hope she gets hit by a truck while on the set. My friend Fade said he watched 5 minutes of Catwoman and wanted to die.
Manic Webb
I wasn't happy when I heard news that Bryan Singer switched franchises. While the whole Superman mythos is legendary, I'm not looking forward to his backstory being re-created on film again within my lifetime. Between the animated series, Smallville, and the movie starring Christopher Reeves (although it was made a few years before I was born), I'm getting a little sick of Superman. Plus the comics aren't that good, anyway. On top of that, the Phoenix Saga of the X-Men was going to be hard enough to bring to the big screen before (because nobody expects to see aliens in the X-films), but not we have to deal with a new creative team. If they get a really bad director for X-Men 3, we could be looking at the Batman Forever of the X-Men franchise.
Oh, and Halle Berry says she's not gonna do any more comic book films unless it's a Catwoman sequel.
So... she's never going to do a superhero movie ever again? I'm not saying Catwoman is bad-- actually, that is what I'm saying. It bombed. It bombed atomically. It actually wiped out a large Japanese city because it was so bad. James P. Galvatron
I hate that Halle may not do Storm and tat they will have to get a new guy to do X-Men 3 and that they have guys no one has ever heard of that may play Batman and Superman in the next upcoming movies. I hope that the two of them will be good.
Guest ScirosDarkblade
Inuyasha, rent "Equilibrium." Watch it. The main character is played by Christian Bale, the man who will be Batman. Once you watch Equilibrium, you'll be glad he's the one.
Gavin
I am personally very happy to see Halle Berry make an exit from the X-Men and general Comic to Movie genre in general. She's a capable actress true but she's too much of a diva and that's something which many films really don't need especially if they're relying on great story and not a famous cast to sell a film. I've seen the trailers for Catwoman and that's all of the film I intend to see unless I'm drugged and hauled screaming into see that pile of manure. The fact that Bryan Singer has moved to the multi-sequelled Superman franchise is a little sad in my opinion, I agree with Manic 100% when he says that Superman has been done for all it'll do and that taking such a talent away from the now maturing X-Men saga is pretty sad. I hope that the new crew behind X-Men 3 will be able to keep up the steam and up the quality that seems to come with Marvel sequels.
Semjaza
The Superman film has been plagued with so many issues over the past couple of years that I honestly don't even remotely care about it anymore. At least they ditched that awful script where Lex Luthor was an alien and Superman's cousin or some crap.
Manic Webb
According to MovieHole, Joss Whedon (Buffy, Angel, Firefly) may have signed on as writer/director for X-Men 3. He's currently writing the Astonishing X-Men books, and is in the middle of directing Serenity. Not a bad move. I've always liked Whedon's character writing, and he's already a huge X-Men fan (the guy's writing one of the books). My only problem is whether or not Whedon can pull off action. His fight scenes in Buffy and Angel (especially Angel) have always been a little if-y. And with all the money being poured into this franchise, I question if Whedon knows what to do with it. Plus his writing has always been more character-based than story-based, but then that was when he was dealing with television. So really, I'd have to see Serenity before I can take any guess at what X3 will look like. That is, if this rumor is true.
satan665
The latest run of Superman with Azzarello as writer is the only superman that is worth anything currently in my opinion (comics). It pretty much deals with Superman's omnipotence and his decision making; like is his help always desired and is he making the right decisions stopping a war between nations. Anyway its really well written besides my terrible interpretation. I imagine the movie will eventually come out and I hope it deals with superman's powers well. X-men can easily survive the loss of a few actors. Berry didn't really add that much to the movie so I think that she can either be replaced of just write Storm out of the movie. X-men has a ton of great characters to use anyway. I'd personally like to see her replaced because she's overrated. Batman is going to be the real movie to watch when that manages to make it out.
I think that Singer is one of the few people out there that has the ability to produce a truly outstanding Superman film. At this point it's coming down to the casting and the SFX studio, I'd say. As for Azzarello, well, I thought that Jeph Loeb was one of the crappiest comic writers in the industry, but good ole' Azzarello proved me wrong. Way wrong. The new Azzarello/Lee arc is, like Hush, only worth looking at for the artwork if you ask me. Loeb could at least nail dialogue once in a while. Azzarello has yet to get anything right. Oh well... Storm, since she had no involving role, is expendable altogether. Still, I'd rather they just replace her with a better (or hotter) actress, like the Bad Boys II girl. She's hot.
Batman is going to be the real movie to watch when that manages to make it out.
I certainly hope so. So far it's looking promising, albeit really silly in some aspects. Anyway, can anyone come up with a better Superman than Tom Welling? ... And while we're on the subject, what do y'all think of that supposed "cameo" that a certain "T.Welling" has as "Kent" in a scene in Batman Begins?
