badjesus
Hey everyone, I want to find out if there are any musicians on this site, what their instrument is and what their influences are. Im a bass guitarist by trade, my main influences are biohazard, SOD, and primus one of my great acheivements was being able to play "tommy the cat" P.S. if you are a drumer where do you live i need a drummer and a guitarist to get a band started the musical style is a mix of doom and grunge type music its heavy and slow ( I regard feeling tone and expression over speed and tchnique so dont feel you need to be able to play master of puppets to join). I live In dumfries area of scotland
Syn
Hmm, im bassist and/or guitarist in the manchester area. For the bass, my main influences i'd say are Flea from the red hot chilis, Marcus Miller, Duff McKagan from Guns n Roses and Jaco Pastorias, even though I dont actually like what he does/did, you have to respect the guy for doin' what he did. For the guitar, well I dont have many influences for the guitar as such, if I had to pick a few people as influences then i'd have to say ... hm... Kirk from Metallica and Synnyster Gates from Avenged Sevenfold. I chose Gates because his tappings amazing, its nothing new but theres just something that always catches my ear. So yeah, he got me into the finger tapping technique.... I dont know if this was the point of this thread but ya know, anybody in the manchester area looking for a bassist or guitarist (rhythm) or just wants a jam or somethin', look me up. Balmon
Classical pianist in the Toronto area. I can basically sight-read anything, but don't ask me to jam with you by ear. That's asking for trouble. Phil
Chillie
I am. =D I play piano, alto sax, and bass guitar. I just started the bass, so i'm not that great at it, but I've been playing piano for 8 years, sax 5 years. Alto Sax is for my school band, and I'm one of the best in my town. Influences for bass, well I basically try to play songs I like from different bands, like AFI, I can play a song or 2 from them. ^-^
Guest ScirosDarkblade
I'm a clarinetist (well, used to be, but I haven't played for a couple of years--not that that's hurt my skills, lol) and played for about 8 years or so. I got decent and did well in competitions. I'm also a "pretend pianist," meaning that I can pick up a melody + simple accompaniement to a song in a few seconds, literallly, but I've never taken any lessons so in reality I suck huge. I also play electric guitar, albeit terribly. I enjoy it though. If I ever get around to getting a hold of Reason (software for computer), I'll use my keyboard to put together some cool stuff, maybe even submit something to OCRemix. But that's if I ever get around to buying Reason.
Guest Maki-Bakura
I have not been much into music lately, but I do play the paino and the guitar. I have written a japanese-feel songs on the paino and I am working on a song for the guitar. I haven't played the paino in years and I have slacked on the guitar a bit, but I still like playing them. :p ~Maki
mutsumi
i play guitar (electric) and piano. i basicallly suck at guitar but its fun to be all like "hey i like that song... imma learn to play it!!!" my influences are velvet revolver (that solo from slither is amazing), metallica, matchbook romance, placebo, motion city soundtrack, taking back sunday, KoRn, SOAD, and others! i've been playin piano for 9 years and i guess you could say im good at it. i dont really have any influences but my favorite type of music to play is usually more popular music and not all that classical stuff. i also play keyboards and learn how to play rock songs and stuff. badjesus
I have a very strange sound my friend says, its kind of a cross between biohazard slayer and primus ( I was ecstatic when he said i played like the best player ever)

My influences would be mainly Placebo. My greatest achievement was being able to play every you every me all the way through by memory as my first song. Ezekiel
All these guitarists, make we wish I'd actually kept mine O_o I play the piano/keyboard. I've never had proper lessons, I just taught myself really, but I'd say I've been playing for about...8 years. Maybe it's a bit more. I mainly play the themes of animes, my favourite being the theme to Slayers next. I'm trying to track down the sheet music for the D N Angel theme, but so far, no such luck.
TOTALIMMORTAL
Hey hey hey, another Guitarist here! I got tons of influences in my playing, mostly Metallica though. I also totally look up to Angus Young from AC/DC and Eddie Van Halen...of course. I've just recently started getting really good at the whole two-handed tapping thing, so awesome. I have yet to be in a band but I totally hope I'll be. The first song I completely learned was Hell's Bells by the one and only AC/DC. I'm 14, I've only been playin for about two years but I'm already really good, and I live in Oceanside, California.
Guest Inazuma
So many guitarists here.. :P Oboist here! And proud of being a duck! My sound isn't as good as I want it to be, but hey, that's why there's such thing as improvement. Also in marching band, so I do pit, too. :D
Godelsensei
I play both the violin and piano, which means I understand all those silly G-string jokes people titter about now and then. Psh. I'm not very good at either, but I've been playing the piano since I was five or six. (I can, however, play Sadness & Sorrow almost perfectly by this point.) Due to the extreme coolness of the music teacher who wrote all the music we play in class (he had to retire, which sucks), we play Asian pop songs alot. 'Sgreat fun. I guess music isn't really my forte.
DetectiveMikeRS
I play bass (main influence is Geddy Lee of Rush, even met him before) I can also play guitar (classical), piano (jazz, blues, classical), autoharp, harmonica, flute, and I can sing and write all my own songs with music. Albel the Wicked
I play electric guitar and piano. I'm better at piano, even though I've been playing guitar longer. I guess some thing just come naturally. For guitar, I am fairly good. I'm working on playing Otherworld from FFX on my guitar. Nothing really drives me to work on guitar, which might be the reason that I don't practice, but I guess the fact that I can work on Otherworld might be it. But for piano, I'm super good. I may not be able to sight read anything like Balmon, but then again, I'm only 14 and Balmon is like.......GOD ONLY KNOWS! (I mean no offense Balmon, but I don't really know your age. That was not a comment to make it seem like you are super old, because I'm sure that you are not.) Anyway, I'm pretty good. My first year in playing in Young Musicians, I made the honors concert. Right now I'm working on the One WInged Angel from FFVII. What drives me to play piano, is that the fact that I'll have this really good peace in front of me and the fact that I can play it, just makes me happy. When I sit down with a piece that I really like, I feel like I could play it for hours, non stop. Most of that is either Final Fantasy music or Zelda Music. But, I really like to piano. Just don't ask me to play simple pieces like 'The Entertainer', 'Chopsticks', or 'Fur Elise' or else I will think that you are an easily enteratained drool monkey. I can't tell you how common piece 'Fur Elise' is played by pianists. It irritates me, that every pianist that can play 'Fur Elise' thinks that they are a great pianist. IT'S A VERY COMMON PIECE! Anyone can play it!
Vigaku
I play guitar, I've been playing guitar since I was two years old. I've grown sorta good over my high school years, mostly punk and metal is what I play.

Toorima
I'm a drummer, but I can't help you if your in Scotland, because I'm in America. My main influences are Rolling Stones, Primus, Nirvana, Beatles and Meg White of the White Stripes. I'm pretty good, but I'm no Meg White, mainly because I am a guy. DBZgirl88
I play violin. I don't take lessons though, so I'm not very good. I used to take strings as a subject in highschool. I'm considered pretty good for that level, but when I watch other people play who actually take lessons, it makes me want to cry. They are so amazing, and even some 5-year olds play better than me. Meh, at least I can play in tune. :) I am hoping to take lessons soon, so I need to get myself a decent violin. The only one I had was the one the school lends us during the year, but I'm done highschool now, so I can't borrow it anymore.
