So long as you've read and understood the Sticky Threads in both the Adventure Square and Inn, you can start whenever you want. If you don't feel confident enough to start your own yet, join one or two and see how they go, then you can get an idea of what sort of RPG you want to create. Of course if you have a great idea already then there's no reason why you can't start now, heh.

Personally, I reccomend getting some experience in other RPGs before starting your own. if you make a mistake in someone else's RPG, it's not nearly as bad as if you screw up in one you started. As a participant, if you mess up, the RPG's creator, other participants, and you yourself can help fix it. If you screw up in one of yours, however, it's hard for others to help fix the problem, because they don't know how you want it to be. Also, without experience, posts tend to be of a poorer quality, and that tends to drive members away (I'm speeking from experience here, and that goes for all of my points). Now, if you have prior experience with creative writing, then those things are all less of a problem.

i definitely agree with solo tremaine. you do whatever is convient for you. having personally been a few rpgs myself, i can sympathize with you. i joined a few rpgs before starting my own. if you have a good idea of how they start, progress, and finish, then it is easy to start your own. my first rpg went really well and i want to start another one. my personal advice to you is to get some of your friends, agree on the story of your personal adventure and then start out. it is always better to hack a monster or whatever with a friend than with some person you just met, but like i said do whatever is convient for you.

I agree with what everyone has said here. Personally, I feel that it's best to get some experience in a few RPGs beforehand to get a feel for RPing, but if you feel confident enough in your abilities to start up your own, then there's nothing stopping you, really. I've seen a few people jump in and start their own RPGs right away who were decently successful.
