A new RPG idea

I just had an idea. Something for the beginning of spring (for the southern hemisphere).

Idea
- An RPG about a beach resort
- Players can be guests, staff, managers, tour guides, people that live in the community
- Events happen like parties, competitions, functions

Bascially it will be a free RPG where players can do what they want. Just a few plot twists here and there (won't give you too much info, want it to be a surprise).

So what do you think? Would you join it?

I'd consider joining if the RPG had more substance than just "walk around and party" all day kind of thing. The plot twists would be good, but first you'd need a plot ;) Take Shinmaru's RPG about the apartment building. It had somewhat of a plot because his character owned a crap apartment and always, for some reason, attracted the most unusual residents. I say make it about the beach resort, but have a meaning behind the building.

For example, why not make the main character have a dark secret like he/she's an undercover secret agent? Ooo... nifty! That could lead to the main character's antagonists showing up at the beach resort and causing mischief. See? Makes the RPG free still, but gives meaning to these "plot twists."

Also, why not hire a graphics designer (unless you do graphics yourself) and make the RPG more spicey. Maybe have a table background image like in Kill Adam and various other RPGs. The more classier it looks, the more people will sign up. :^D Hey, hey, it works!

Aw, man. Seems like every RPG idea I have put off are being taken already. Anyway, it seems like a great idea and if the plot you're going to surprise us is enough to make it more interesting then I say go for it.

Like DW said, walking around and partying is not good enough because it will seem redundant if people will write about almost the same stuff over and over again. So maybe you should have a major plot instead of those 'few plot twist here and there'.

The graphics idea is really good too and should be used by more RP-ers. It doesn't matter if the graphics you use are simple or elaborate. Anything will do just to make your RP a little different from others. In your case, since it's a beach setting, graphics should be an exciting part of it because it adds up to the zesty feeling of being in a resort.

In a nutshell, this should be really fun given a creative approach and a cool plot with a very unique twist. Geez, having said that I really envy you for announcing this idea before I did. I now have a clear picture of what the graphics and HTML should look like. ^_~

Quite so. If you use a background table graphic, it could be a sandy beach or the ocean water. Many things you can do and I definately have ideas of how it could look. Anyone can think of something for this sort of thing. It wouldn't be a bad idea to hire a staff onto the RPG and get something big going. It takes a little more effort is all.

I have a feeling that an RPG like this could end up being really crazy (and I mean that in a good way).

My personal view is that it'd need some structure. Even something very basic to guide it along, while still letting the players fill in the blanks themselves.

The interesting thing about it is that you could really do anything you want. You could have a sudden alien invasion, or you could have an underwater adventure, or you could create something else that is totally bizarre.

Or, alternatively, you could just try to write something realistic that is full of drama and comedy. It's up to you.

But yeah, I do feel that some structure is needed, no matter which direction you go with this. In general though, I think it's an interesting idea; it's worth playing around with a bit more.

That'd be cool. I'm too busy to create an RPG on my own so might as well, sort of, co-create one. Just contact me through PM or AIM ayt?

By the way, James' ideas are really wacky ^_~
