Muad'Dib
Indeed it was a dim city, if indeed you could still call it a city. The bodies of the dead and dying strewn about the outskirts, rolled there by those who still clung to their bit of dignity. There was a stench throughout every desolate road of stail blood, urine, and sweat. The ruins of once graceful, imposing buildings make a painted shadow across an evening sky. There was a lack of color. Nothing, no matter how vibrant, seemed to have any quality of shade or tint. "I could... you know, I could show you..." The man's voice was slurred with drunkeness. It was muffled by his clothes, bunched up as he slid to the cold, stone ground. "...what it's like... you know... whatever." His words made no sense to the small girl staring absently at his disheveled form. Her eyes were curious, but uninterested in the drunk's words. "Anna! The train!" The voice of a boy, no older than the girl, rang through the nearly empty streets. His form poked out of a big arched passage; the sound of screeching brakes echoed from within. Anna stared a moment at the man previously occupieing her attention and turned on her heel to run for the archway. It was gray. Like every building for miles, it had lost all sense of color. Years of oppressing dark ages had drained all will to strive for anything more than this bland reality. It was all any of the new generation could hope for. The boy stood at the edge of a rail-way track, watching down the rusty tracks. He turned to Anna as she jogged into the room. "Come on, it's almost here!" The rest of the station was completely empty, except for two other children near them. "Jon, where does this one go?" Anna came to a stop next to the group of three. Jon checked the tracks again and said in a less hurried tone, "To thirteen. We can get to Jhel from there." Anna glanced out at the fading sky. "Jhel will be happy we made it so fast." Part of her words were drowned out by the screaming of the train's brakes as it slowed to a halt in the station. It stopped only for a moment, like a busy man paying his respects for the hundreth time and going on his way. The four children hopped on the broken down car that stopped in front of them, having just enough time to grab the edge of a wall before it sped away again. Jon smiled with childish satifaction. Anna looked back as the train shot forward, waving at the station they had just left. The other two chatted among themselves, eager to join the other nine children in block thirteen. ~~~ There's no distinct background to the history here. It has been lost in the years of cultural depression. The location, however, is somewhere near Paris. Or what used to be Paris. The technology is primitive at best. The most advanced guns in existence are single-shot, inaccurate rifles. And only the elite of the practically non-existant military would have them. Not that anybody would need one. Think of the Dark Ages. No technological advances in years, everyone's depressed. Everything is desolate. You will play one of the thirteen 10-12 year olds born in this nameless city. You are brought together by practically the only person that still cares for the new generation, Jhellah. She's in her mid twenties, and gathers children on the street to give them a chance. They all live in an old run down Inn, free to go out and explore the city, as long as they stay together. But life in this city is getting more oppressive than usual. The weight of countless years bears down on every citizen. There are rumors... of a nation across the sea. They call it the land of the free. Perhaps someone could finda life there. But how to get there...? SIGN-UPS: Name: Simple; nothing with more than three syllables basically. Age: 10-12 Gender: male or female. Personality: Keep it only slightly hopeful. Remember what they've grown up in. Appearence: Not too colorful. Detailed please. Bio: Not much to tell, so fairly short. Any Rescources: Any special skills or connections. Again, keep it simple. Any sign-ups not up to snuff get denied. You think you deserve to be in it anyway, PM me and redo your sign-up. No guarantees. I will be playing Jon, as mentioned above in the back story. And just for the heck of it, ask before signing-up to play Anna. No one plays Jellah. I'll control her myself.
Attimus331
OOC: Well this is my first RPG....so hear goes nothing Name: Marshal Age: 12 Gender: Male Personality: After living for twelve years in such a desolate city without anyone, Marshal feels he has seen and done about everything a twelve-year-old can do in such a hell hole. He's somewhat angry with the cards he was dealt, and plans on doing something about it, he just has no idea what. He speaks his mind and often pushes for the quickest solution without concern for the consequences. Yet, deep down in his heart he has a desire for something better than the life given to him. Appearance: He has tired brown eyes, and messy brown hair covered with a dirty, old, red cap. He stands at about 5 foot, and 2 inches He wears a torn black shirt, baggy blue jeans, and worn, black sneakers. On his right wrist he wears an old analog watch that doesn?t keep time anymore, he?s had it since he can remember, it means a lot to him, but he?s not sure why. The watch itself is made out of a hard, stainless steal, it has a small blue gem in the middle of it and the second hand is broken in half. He's a skinny boy, obviously doesn't eat much. He has small scars running around the exposed skin of his body, and his clothing also has tiny rips throughout them. He carries a gray backpack over his left shoulder to carry anything he might find that he considers useful, mainly food and blunt objects that he can use to defend himself with Bio: His mother died giving birth, and his father abandoned them before he was even born. His older sister, Rose, named him Marshal. He was raised by Rose, until the age of about seven, when she mysteriously disappeared. Luckily for Marshal that was long enough to learn the basics for survival. He would spend days eating out of dumpsters and begging for food from people who didn?t have any. Although he was young he still remembers his older sister and loves her very much. Any Resources: His backpack.
Guest Sean
Heh, you've out odne yourself on this, good job, can't wait for this to start.....well wait i have to write my Sign-Up first. ^_________^ -EDIT- No violence, huh ? ok, changed sign-up..... Name: Tyler Davis Age: 12 Gender: Male Personality: Life Sucks, Everything In Life Sucks.....Apart from Jellah, this is really the only thing on his mind. Everythings went wrong since he knew he existed. Tylers life began for him at the age of ten. He dislikes anything and everything. Maybe something or someone ;) lol, can change it. Apperance: (OOC: Couldn't find a good pic so i'll write it out) Tylers build is tall but muscular. His body frame not too big for his gae, but still over average. Tyler usuallywears a ripped Atticus t-shirt or an Emerica top. Both which he stole out of a shop. His leg sizes are normal for his age, but are still quite muscular from the running he does most mornings. He usually wears cut jean 3/4 shorts, or a peair of bagged jeans. He stole the Baggy Jeans from a shop down town. The 3/4's he stole from someone's washing line. Tylers hair is a grey/silver colour which brings the most out of his pale grey eyes. Tylers hair usually dangles in the front of his head, bringing out the silver in his eyes. Tylers hair is cut neatly though even though of his street life, he attemps to get his hair cut at least once every few months, by stealing cash. Biography: Tyler only knows of his name because of a 'dog-tag' around his neck. This dog-tag has his name, and is opened up to see a picture of he thinks his mother, his d/o/b. Tylers life began at the age of ten when he found himself lying on a grey tinted bench in a small park area. From then he's scavenged food from dumpsters, and steals money from peoples pockets to buy scraps of food. Resources: Tyler has a chain with a silver Crucifix attached to it, this Crucifix has a small gem in it. The ends of the Crucifix are all pointed, he's only had to use this as a weapon for self-defence against a gang threatening him. The Crucifix means alot to Tyler even though he has no clue when, where and who he got it from. Hope this is ok Phoenix ^__^
Orcus
Name: Rev Age: 12 Gender: Male Personality: Rev appears to be solitary and quiet, but he?s actually kind-hearted and protective. He watches over others as if they were family, as he cannot stand the sight of death and suffering. He also keeps a cool head under any circumstances, because he?s been through most of the worst circumstances. Appearance:The kid with silver hair. He wears a blue and black long sleeved shirt, with the half of the left sleeve ripped off. His shorts are in a good state, just dirty. He also wears a bandanna and gloves that cut off at his knuckles. His sneakers are in a pretty good state as well. He also looks more serious then in the picture and taller. Bio: Rev doesn?t know what his real name is, and he doesn?t really care either. He doesn't remember either of his parents, only his little sister, who died recently. She was stabbed by a thief who thought she might of had food or money on her. After that he wandered alone and nameless. He acquired the name ?Rev? when he messed around with a beat up car and got it to run again. Even though he has a lack of a sufficient amount of food, he will not resort to thievery (though he could make a very good bandit if he wanted to). He just makes due with what he receives. Any Resources: Rev can fight extremely well with a pole or an object of a similar shape. Metal bars lie scattered around the city, so when the occasional bandit comes around, Rev is ready to defend himself and whomever may be with him. He carries a metal bar in his belt which he?s ready to use at any time.
Muad'Dib
Ok, good, good. So, here's who is accepted/ not accepted and why. Don't stop reading if you see your name on the not-accepted. There will most likely be a fixable reason. Accepted: yotska Not-Accepted: Attimus331- Reason: Two things, 1) The appearence should be more detailed, as in tell more about what he actually looks like, not just clothing. Ex: eye color, hair color, height, etc. 2) His special skill. Premonitions to the future? Sounds a little magical. None of that stuff please. Icarus2k- Reason: A crucifix that turns into a knife... not too bad, but perhaps a little extreme. You notice that under the PG-14 rating, there's no 'V' for violence. I don't say this for yotska's pipe because it only implys defending. Ok, no time to post mine now, but it will be here soon.
Epsilon
Name: Lei Age: 10 Gender: Female. Personality: Seemingly enough, she's considered to be aloof and paranoid on the out side. This is the closet thing that may be described to the truth. Constantly with drawing her self away from other people, she spends her time reading and writing the same words and paragraphs over and over again in a small little corner of the Inn in dirty white chalk. And every time, she has filled that corner, she moves on. Her mind jumping by a tenfold, the way she acts for her age seems to differ within each corner. She's on the quite side, knowing that her chances of being able to find a brighter future is slim to nothing. Still, there are a few of which she admires wishing only to be able to talk to them. She's obedient and does what is asked of her. Naturally intelligent, but she isn't smart enough to use that intelligence. Lei seems as though she would need allot of protection since other's think that she suffers from a slight depression. Appearence: Very thin, and has an extremely frail built. Not very strong, and matches her will strength. Her body is easily bruised, much like glass. She stands at exactly five feet. Her skin is extremely pale, since it was meant to once be a tanned color, the shade of her skin has turned slightly gray. Underneath her green eyes, the skin has become hallowed pulling deep within her skull. Underneath her pants, she has a large scare that rounds all of her right leg. Breaking away from that there is another large scare that goes down and disappears underneath her foot wear. Dull purple rounds the edges, not very contrasting to her dull short black hair. Her hair always seems to be fairly neat for some one of her persona. Around her body she wears tattered clothing. Now gray, it once was white but since has gotten to grungy to ever be the same shade again. Simply, Lei wears a short sleeve shirt. The left shoulder has been torn off, it buttons 10 ways up wards. Breaking off into a high neck collar. The collar is torn, and large cuts seem to have lined it near the back. Along from were it buttons across her chest 7 buttons are missing. Along it rims the bottom in a folded edge, on the sides it has to more tattered slights heading inwards and up.. However, even though it is torn, it fits her body perfectly fine. On her lower half she wears white/gray pants, that end 6 inches up from her ankles. On the side of those they have slight slights on both the inside and out side of her legs. On her knee there is a threading hole. On her feet she wears worn out black shoes, the threads are all coming undone. And the seam is wearing out. The only thing notable is what is wrung around her neck. A black leather strap that has a chain hole link, a piece of string drops down is a crudely cut piece of wood in the shape of a heart. The link seems to have broken near the top. Bio: Lei cannot remember anything before her life with Jellah at the Inn. And for all that time, she only knows that Jellah is the only one she can really have any contact with. The other children and thouse out side of the Inn scare her. Never leaving, she knows for sure she has no family left within her Purgatory. Jellah was probably the one who gave her the piece of chalk, and the one who taught her what she knows. Another factor of why she fears the out side, however. Once and awhile, if the Inn is ever in need ot anything, she'll leave. Steal, lie, or do what ever means is necessary for the others. Any Resources: She has no real abilities or resources other then her abilities to understand almost everyone's English, regardless of how poor it is. So fairly good hearing.
Muad'Dib
Well well, looks like things are coming along nicely... I love Ruby's sign-up, it's amazing. People should use it as a guideline for any RP. No exagerating there. Ok, so everyone so far is accepted, though if I get a lot of sign-ups that are much better than existing ones, things might change. But that probably won't happen. *sigh* If only every sign-up were as detailed as Ruby's. Ok, it's about time I posted my own sign-up... Name: Jon Age: 11 Gender: male Personality: Jon still holds on to a childish sense of wonder and hope, though his mind is maturing to the point where he realizes chances of anything good happening are slim. He likes to sit and think sometimes, but he derives more 'joy' from talking to the other children. Conversation comes easy to him, though it's usual about something trivial, like the sun or stars or some unexplored part of the city. He will try to comfort some of the other children, after all, they're all he or any of them has. Jon has a soft spot for Anna, and worries a lot about Lei. Appearence: Jon has a rather meager build, like most of the children. His hair is dark brown and unkempt, usually getting in the way of his eyes, witch are dull blue and having a slowly fading spark behind them. His face and hands are never clean of dirt, scratches, and the like. His skin tone is a very light tan, and only because he likes to explore the city. Jon wears relatively simple clothing that looks like it was woven together with a bunch of similarly colored strips of cloth. There's a gray 'shirt' that's particularly thick around his neck and shoulders, going all the way down his arm and ending just above his waist. His pants are loose and brown, torn and dirty from his explorations. He almost always wears a black-gray 'cap' that fits snuggly around his head like a modern day 'stretchy beanies'. Lastly, a pair of beat up shoes of undeterminable brand or type. Bio: Jon never had the pleasure of meeting his parents, and mostly wandered the streets before Jhellah found him. At first he was apprehensive and wary of the woman, but slowly grew to like her. He seemed to be naturally more ambitious than the other children, and constantly tries to convince them to go wandering with him. He knows this section of the once grand city like the back of his hand, and is always looking for a new place to map in his head. He's met a few people on these trips, but almost never seen them more than once. Having gone through puberty not too long ago, his behaviour can be odd sometimes. He's always been friends with Anna, but new feelings are confusing him, as uneducated as they are on the subject. Any Rescources: A good memory of a majority of the surrounding area. Well, we have someone who's going to sign-up as Anna, though if someone else wants to ask and makes a better sign-up (mind you a much better sign-up) then feel free to do so.
Revelation
Name: Annamarie, currently known as "Anna" Age: 11 Gender: Female Personality: A comforting smile, a warm heart, and a kind soul is what Anna shows on the outside. Within is a different matter and a different story. She brings joy, laughter, and a helping hand to those who need it. With such a vibrant and colorful mind, Anna is able to give bright and cheerful light to even the darkest and gloomiest of nights. She is able to show that not even the Dark Ages will bring her soaring spirit down. This is what they all see, the giggling, smiling, and never-ending angelic Anna. For a young child, Anna is intelligent, intellectual, and her mind is, by far, the most mature of the 13 children that Jhellah takes care of. She is creative and curious, always wandering with Jon, searching for things unfound. Underneath it all is a quiet and distant child who longs to be alone and understand the reality as it is. Underneath is a child who runs from trust, love, and acceptance. Never saying much, Anna always knows what to say and when to say it. She shows no fear and no pain when it boils down to it. Nor does she show that she is weak, for what she lacks in size, she gains in speed and strength. In her mind, the only way to survive is to trust no one and speak less of what is on your mind. Although, the surface of Anna seems like a bubbly persona, the second layer of her is not as bubbly, but a bit gloomy, like the Dark Ages itself. Bland and out of color. Yet, it was Jon who was able to release her from her secret hiding spot and let the color shine through once more. It seems that it is only Jon who is able to let her open up and that it is only Jon who knows who Anna truly is. Appearence: Anna - Standing at a fair 5'4", Anna is fairly thin with a small build. Although small and thin, she has strength enough to fight and is quite agile. She is able to be as nimble and elegant as a dancer upon a stage, as well as strong and assertive as a boxer, if all comes down to it. Her skin is an ivory color covered with smudges of dirt and hidden by a few scars, a few visible, but one unseen. But, along that ivory skin, lies two sparkling eyes of honey brown that are hidden by waves of darkening, golden brown hair, unkempt, but tamed. It seems that Anna is well groomed for someone who lives the way she and others do, even with the clothes that she wears, she seems to be beautiful in any way portrayed. Speaking of clothes, Anna wears a tank top, tattered and torn at the bottom, with the color of a faded black. Over her is a black jacket in fairly good shape, other than the grungy smudges and few holes in one of the pockets. A bit bigger than it would fit, but provides warmth and comfort. Upon her lower body, she wears black and gray pants that, somehow, fit her perfectly, with two ripped holes on both knees. Whereas, once white, now gray sneakers cover her feet with the laces coming apart at the ends. Bio: Abandoned at birth, Anna was forced to wander the streets, striving to survive for many years, until the day that she had stumbled upon Jhellah's Inn. It was there that she had found refuge and a home to live in. It was also there that she had acquired a surrogate mother and a friend that had found a place in her heart, for not many would be able to melt the ice that has frozen her heart, unlock the door that has bolted her soul, and free her mind from the cage that has imprisoned it. During the time that she lived alone, Anna had much time to express her emotions, through her drawings and writing, but writing was a bit harder to come by than drawing for her pictures could be drawn with old pieces of chalk upon the side of an old building or even upon the very street that all walk upon. It had shown her anger, her sadness, her fear. It had shown everything that she kept within and no one would understand what truly was going on. After living out on the bad side of the city, where the "bad people" lived, Anna kept a distance and always fought only to survive. Growing more and more distant and isolated from the people, she finally realized that survival doesn't have to be alone. Jhellah let Anna come to her and let her rely on this woman. And Jon, the one boy who Anna can trust, waits for her to open her heart, which in due time will become his. Any Rescources: Anna possesses the qualities of a cat, stealthy, quiet, and agile. She is also a master of drawing/ painting and writing, as well as a master of memory, but her memory only goes as far as remembering features and certain details that most cannot pinpoint.
Muad'Dib
Wow... there's no other word to describe that sign-up. That was amazing Arika! Ok, now that I've stopped rambling about the exceptional sign-up, I'll be starting this either tonight (it's very late as I'm typing, so perhaps not.) or tomorrow. I have Monday free also, so if for one reason or another it's not up by then, it will be. Glad you all decided to join, and hope you can all find the time to post often and well. Whisper
Name: Kally Age: 12 Gender: female Personality: Kally is very quiet and is a bit of a philanthropist. She has a soft spot for younger children and often shows a motherly affection towards them, which is a bit premature for her age. But there is a sadness that hangs like a veil about her, probably caused from the dissapointment that she will probably never make a huge difference in her life. Because of her kind yet melancholy demeanor many people describe her as a "sad little angel." Kally still has a small flicker of hope from childhood but day by day it grows dimmer. Kally often expresses her feelings through playing the violin and singing. Appearence: Kally is small in stature for her age and has a pale complexion. Kally has dirty, greasy brown hair that hangs down to her shoulders. Beneath long bangs are greyish blue eyes that might of had been bright sapphire blue once. There is a dull purple birthmark on her right cheek that is shaped like a baby's hand print. Kally often has her hair brushed to that side in order to cover it. Kally wears a grey dress that is patched in many places by colorful bits of cloth that are now faded. Kally wears an apron that is too big for her and wears rosemary beads around her neck but with some of the beads missing. Kally wears two mismatched sneakers with the shoelaces missing, one grey one black. Bio: Kally was found by a priest on the front step of a church as a baby with a violin that had her name carved on the back. The church was running a small orphange so they took her in. Kally learned how to play the violin that was left with her and to sing at a very young age. As Kally grew older she took responsibility of playing and helping to take care of the yonger children who all adored her. But at twelve she left the church with her violin and some rosemary beads a nun gave her because the orphange was becoming too crowded. Kally tried to find a job but no one wanted a dirty little child so she resorted to begging, and playing the violin and signing on street corners hoping that passerbys would toss a few coins. Then one day a woman named Jhellah offered to give Kally a home and brought her to a run-down Inn. Kally immediatley settled in and helped to cook and clean and help take care of the younger children like she did at the orphanage at the church. Any Rescources: Kally is very good at singing, playing the violin, and doing house chores.
Muad'Dib
Ah, very good. Sign-ups (as stated in actual adventure thread) are actually closed, but since it's not said here, I'll let you join in anyway. Let everyone else be informed however, that sign-ups are now closed unless given permission. One comment on teh bio...
...tried to find a job but no one wanted a dirty little child...
There really aren't many jobs left in teh first place. Perhaps the guy who runs the train, and maybe a few people who fool themselves into thinking what they do is important. Just thought I'd say it. No real problem.
