ChibiHorsewoman
I became a high school freshman in 1995, that was the first year they didn't have the Homecoming dance because there wasn't enough interest in it. However, the stupid school board and the equally stupid faculty didn't make the announcement until about a week prior to the event. I'm quite sure that who ever bought a dress for that event was a bit pissed. Thankfully I was new to the school and didn't know too many people so I didn't buy a ticket or a dress for that occasion. Then for the next four years of my high school career the Homecoming court was announced during the Homecoming pep rally. Right before they brought out the football team and the rest of the sports teams. Yes, my school was screwed up-it still is I just don't go there any more. :D According to my brother they brought back the Homecoming dance when he was a freshman and ended up taking his girlfriend there. Which is yet another big difference between my brother and I. I was the smart kid with a few close friends and didn't go out on too many dates. He's a girl magnet-even with the girlfriend he has now there are still ones looking at him. I am so glad I was unpopular-it means it will be a hell of alot funnier in five years when I go to my ten year renunion married to a good looking guy.
wiccansamurai
I;m hoping to go to homecoming. I just have too many details to work out. My mom has this thing against me getting in the car w/ other teens (Totally understandable, but it gets in the way of some stuff) So I'd have to get a ride there and a ride back. But all my friends are planning to go to the pizza place afterwards (Our school is cheap and only serves like water and cookies at homecing, no chips or any real food) So I'd have to have my mom drop me off, pick me up, drop me off at cimenos, pick me up again. She wouldn't be very happy. I was hoping to make my own dress for homecoming, but I haven't had the time at all with band. I'll probably go dress shopping soon with me sister, which is funfun. I think I'm going with my boyfriend, lol. Its depending. My friend said they allow people up to 21 (Adam's 18, graduated last year) to come as dates to homecoming. If he can't/won't (Hes not very socail <_<) come, I'll go by myself or find a friend to go with. Whatever. Sorry about spelling errors.... I just can't win today... Dragon Warrior
Well, at my school, the homecoming theme of this year appears to be Pirates of the Caribbean. Weee! And so, naturally, I was asked to be their Jack Sparrow in our homecoming parade and whatnot. Fun :^D I have to whoop out my ole costume I wore last year for a school dance and once again wear them! As for the dance, I'm going with a bunch of friends. I'm a Junior so it doesn't really matter too much. Prom matters more to me. Homecoming is just another dance in my eyes.
That's our theme for band. At the homecoming game, my section leader is going to buy pirate bandanas for all the saxes and we're gonna wear them out to the field. The entire drumline dresses as pirates, and in a part of our song (Pirtes of the Carribean part 2) we all say "Arrr!" during the drumbreak. It's great, and being weird at homecoming is fun. Enchanteres7
The Homecoming game at my school the wrestlers are going to perform and they are going to dress up as firefighters. The whole school might be there since we have lots of school spirit. It's going to fun and I can't wait.
Falkon
Hmm.. October? thats a ways away. Mine was yesterday, (9-4-04). It was fun, i guess. The thing that bothers me most is the fact that they play, in my opinion, some s***ty ***** music. No offense to anyone out there, but soft rock and rap i just cant dance to. In case you havent figured it out, im an electronic music supporter (for dancing)(electronic music being 'techno' to most people, but can include, but not limited to, Drum 'n' bass, happy hardcore [see my signature below ^_^], hardcore [not in any way sexually oriented <_<], trance, house... etc etc), so.. it was weird, i guess. We had no theme, as far as i could tell, but it was fun. My friend and I and our dates went out to dinner first (thank god my friend can drive in his sophomore year (we're all sophomores, but hes the only one that can drive)) so our parents wouldnt have to. Anyway we went to an asian restaurant, and, because my friend works there (the friend who drove us), we got half off (and its a 4 star restaurant, too) So it was an interesting experience. Definitely fun. Weee.ee....e.
Japan
Homcoming is a waste of time. This year will be my senior year. School starts in two days, and the whole date thing is messed up. I mean, you can't even dance to rap. Hard rock like Nine Inch Nails and Marylin Manson, and also various dance and techno music are the best music to dance to...not Ludicris or Nelly. Sheesh! I think that it's a waste of money. You have to pay a lot in order to get a nice dress, and if you are male, you have to buy the dinner, tickets, and other things as well. I may just go to my friend's house that night and play video games. My school's Homecoming is at the end of October as well. There are no parades and junk because of living in a big city, but we do this one thing where we decorate the halls with the Homecoming theme in mind. (The themes are always so stupid, nothing cool...just something about football football football. No creativity whatsoever.) Anyways, only the jocks, cheerleaders, and popular kids are allowed to decorate the halls. You can see why I think everything about Homecoming is stupid.
PNK
Ahh, the joys of Homecoming. Awkwardly sitting in a corner with my fellow outcasts/nerds/otaku's with two 12 packs of Mountain Dew. And listening to horrible rap music. And watching random anime on my laptop! And watching all the people laugh.... I'm going to go cry :( Edit: And no we don't have dates because we have a overpopulation of dumb blonde's and b****y Latin's.
Sol-Blade
I never went to any of my homecoming dances, I waited for the big one...the...wait for it...Prom. That one was definitely one you should not miss out on, all the other dances at my school (Sadie Hawkins, Spring Dance, Winter Festival, Cultral Dance Party...etc) seemed pointless for me. Well wait, let me rephrase that: Paying $50 something for each dance seemed pointless to me. Granted, Prom was costly (About oh...I dunno...$500+?), I loved every minute of that night. That was the night I knew (Yeah here comes the long, boring story nobody wants to hear) that this girl I have been dating since my Freshman year really loved me :D! She actually changed her college choice so that she could come with me to my school of choice. I felt bad at first, I mean seriously...she wanted to go to a University, the exact name escapes me at the moment. I felt bad, and tried to convince her other wise. So she told me the truth, she didn't get in to her school. I was actually more relived than sad. Oh well...

I didn't go to homecoming last year, but the other dance (It was a Sadie Hawkins thing) was only like 10 dollars, and causual dress. Your school also has more dances. -_- we only have three, and only 30 of the 1500 students went to the one I went to last year.
Domon
Well, being involved with the band and what not, I have never gone to Homecoming dance and since this being my last year, I sure as heck am not starting now. Personally its a little sad that on our homecoming games for the past three years our football team has gotten their butts handed to them on a silver platter.
The F-Bomb
I've never actually gone to one of the homecoming dances at my school, but I get excited about homecoming week for another reason... Which would be the special dress days. I've always thought it to be hilarious fun seeing what people come up with. I always look forward to the chance to watch people flex their creative muscles on such occasions. I however, don't have any creative muscles, so I just dress regular (or maybe that's just my excuse for being too lazy to come up with a costume idea :D). Come to think of it, our special dress days have been getting lamer and lamer every year. When I first entered high school we had fun days, like cross-dressing day (it's hilarious and disturbing to find some guys that look better as girls and vice-versa). Nowadays, all we get is Hawaiian day  . It's not too difficult to dust off one of those old flower print shirts, nor is it very funny. Unless, of course, you're really fat and bring a ukelele to school.
Sol-Blade
Unless, of course, you're really fat and bring a ukelele to school.
Hey now, I take offense to that. Im Hawaiian and in no way fat...just husky. Haha, no really though, im Hawaiian and im not fat. Just sarcastic. I hated "Hawaiian Shirt Day" more than anything else. Alrighty...back on topic here, I would have contrast to what I said earlier. I am going to attend this year's home-coming (At my old High-School). Well now hold on, am I not in college? Why yes, yes I am. Besides, my college isn't too far away from my old school. They really came up with something creative this year (Okay, it's not really creative, just the fact that it will include me and a bunch of other graduates is what really interested me :D), they are going to have a home-coming parade right down the street parallel to the school that will drive out onto the football field. Of course you will have your usual floats: King and Queen floats, Cheerleader Floats, the B-Team and J-V football team floats, the one with the school mascot and so on. But this year, they are allowing a bunch of graudates from last year to come back and create a float of their own! So we illumini get to participate in parade already, and it hasn't been all that long since we left. Only 4 months ago I threw my cap up in the air. The contrast between the size of a fat man and the size of a ukelele is what is mostly humorous. However, a ukelele player just isn't a ukelele player without a hawaiian shirt. Eli
I most likely will go to Homecoming this year. Our school says it'll be a Lord of the Rings theme, though it's not certain yet. If it happens, I guess it'll be cool. Really, I only go for the food n' drinks. That's basically how every homecoming was in the past- everyone just sat around and ate cake...pretty much like a "fancy" tea party. :o

Epitome
Wow I started this thread a little early... lol. I just had my Homecoming tonight and it was very cool. Just a normal HC, dancing, hanging out... But there was one thing kind of interesting at this one. While dancing with a girl, on of her... how should I put this.... "breasts" fell out of her skirt. Oh man, I could not stop laughing. But other than that it was pretty normal. So did anyone else have theirs recently?
