Anime Old school anime

What is the best old school anime? For me it would have to be either Fist of the North Star or Dirty Pair. Some of those old anime like that have like a rough look to them like the artist smeared their pencil or something, so I usually disregard some but there are a few that are pretty good.

Assuming you mean the '80s and before, definately Laputa. Serieswise, Zeta Gundam wins.

[COLOR=Red]I don't really get old school. How old? But I'll say anyway. Anything Rumiko-made and is old.
Urusei Yatsura's.... Okay. Really funny.
Maison Ikkouku. Really sweet and deep.
Ranma 1/2. Is this old school? Ranma rocks anyway.
Inu Yasha. This is definitely not old but it's still cool.

Cyborg 009. This is really something new... but old.

Hey I love old school animes. I love most anime from the late 80s to the mid 90s. Alot of my fav are from that period such as Megazone 23, Bubblegum Crisis, Metal Skin Panic Madox 0-1, Marcross Lovers again, Riding Bean, The Dirty Pair and Dirty Pair Flash, new domain tank police, batle angel alita and Apple Seed. Lots of good animes. I just love the retro looks and the feel from those old film the newer animes dont seem to have now adays :p

But you shouldn't base whether you like an anime or not on its graphics (although they are a large part of the choosing) but on if you like the [i]content. [/i]Lupin the Third is one of most hilarious animes I've ever watched, and so I absolutely love it. One of my favorite animes: Old school and New.[/color][/size]

Old school animes, that is a tough question for me to answer. My all time favorite of the old school set would be Macross, Mospeada and Robotech. I really enjoyed the transforming mecha, soap opera storylines and character development. When watching these animes as a kid I really liked how these animes had more of an "adult" feel to them. I guess that is why they hold a special place in my heart for them. They remind me of my childhood. :)
