RPG X-men: Mixed Blood [M-VLS]

[color=orange][size=1][font=veranda]The student?s at Xavier?s Institute For The Gifted looked up from what they were doing in the halls as a man walked past, someone held gently in his arms. The man was the mutant Wolverine, and Jean Gray, as well as Kurt walked swiftly behind him. The student?s exchanged surprised looks as two teen-aged boys followed closely behind.

Murmurs ran through the halls of the add-on building, and Wolverine silenced them with a glare. Jean had her forehead wrinkled, and the bundle held in the powerful mutant?s arms struggled. The five turned a corner, and Jean opened a door. They all went in, and Logan laid the bundle on the small medical bed. It was a girl of about 13, and her clothing was ripped and bloody.

She had long, fierce rips down her left thigh, and more claw marks along her right shoulder and arm. Her stomach had five bullet punctures, and her right thigh had two.

Kurt breathed a prayer, and said, ?[b]I will go get Xavier.[/b]? He disappeared in a small cloud of smoke, and Logan?s ear?s popped as the air rushed to fill the empty space.

The two boys stood near the wall, shifting uneasily. Logan said without turning, [b]?You two ? what happened??[/b] The taller of the two boys said, looking at the ground,[b] ?We we?re running from two clones ? they looked like duplicates, and one had fierce claws. The other had a gun.?[/b] The other boy bit his lip, and continued their story, [b]?We we?re trying to get away from them. They had already shot as us a couple of times, though no one had gotten hit.?[/b]

Jean looked at them. [b]?Why didn?t you call for help??[/b] The tall boy swallowed.[b] ?We did, Ms. Gray, honest. Steffanie called, and someone answered. Only, no one came. The one with the claws caught up, and attacked Steff. They wrestled, and she tried to get away. That?s what those scratches are from. So she blasted apart the clawed one?s mind, and the other one shot at her.?[/b]

The smaller boy looked ashamed. [b]?We didn?t notice until it was over ? it only took five seconds. I saw the bullets, and fried the gun-wielder. ?[/b] Jean came over, and hugged them lightly. [b]?It?ll be all right, you two. We?ll take care of her.?[/b]

Steffanie felt the pain all over her body. The gashes in her leg burned, and she could feel the blood. It felt like it was crawling along her skin. Her head fell to one side, and she moaned in pain. The pain block Jean had put on her had shut down. Steffanie was a strong telepath, and Jean?s power?s canceled out.

She felt someone come into the room, and her body lurched in a spasm of pain as she felt the bullets being taken out of her stomach. The pain caused her to black out.

Steffanie woke up an hour later, her head throbbing. Someone was sitting next to her, a slender finger to her forehead. She started, and Xavier looked at her. ?[b]I see you are awake.[/b]? All the surprised teen could do was nod in agreement.

?[b]Sir, I-[/b]?

Xavier cut her off with a slight look. Steffanie closed her gaping mouth.[/color][/font][/size]

Danny, or Nathaniel as his mother named him, sat in a hallway, head leaning against the wall. Several fellow students passed by, even Logan walked through once, but nobody noticed him. That's what he wanted now. Just to think for a while. He constantly wonderd if Steffanie was going to make it, but shook the thought out of his head. If she was doing that badly, Xavier would tell them... wouldn't he?

Not able to stand it anymore, Danny stood and startled a passerby who hadn't seen him until he moved. Ignoring the surprised student, he made his way to Steffanie, tension within him growing with every step. He walekd into the room a bit faster than he intended, making some noise.

He instantly noticed Xavier and Steffanie's half-awoken form. "Oh... I'm sorry, I..." Xavier raised a hand to tell him to calm down. "It's Ok Nathaniel, Steffanie is awake now. Come in." Danny almost cringed when Dr. Xavier called him by his real name. He was the only one that did. He walked cautiously to Steffanie's side, hoping he wasn't disturbing her.[/COLOR]

[Ezekiel]

[COLOR=SlateGray]Imric growled in his throat and punched the wall of the white corridor. Danny looked over and gave him a pitiful look.

"Listen, Imric..."

"Shut up!" Imric's eyes flashed dangerously, he hit the wall again, this time harder. His fist was like a blur as he repeatedly punched the same spot. Danny winced but knew he couldn't stop his friend, after a few minutes, the blue haired boy calmed down and held his right hand in the palm of his left.
Blood dripped from his beaten knuckles and fell to his muddy shoes, dripping off onto the tiled floor.

"Why couldn't I protect her, Danny, why?"

The younger boy sighed and opened his mouth to answer, but he couldn't find the right words of comfort.
"It's not your fault..."

"Bullshit!" the curse echoed in the corridor and hung there, almost like it was stinging the air. Danny flinched again, looking at Imric.

"If you're going to act like this, I'm leaving..." he turned and walked towards Steffanie's room, standing by the door and knocking lightly to let the Prof. know he was there.

Imric growled again deep in the back of his throat, before turning and marching off down the corridor towards his room.[/COLOR]

Jim was in the bath after training all afternoon with Logan doing some weight training and light jogging around the mansion. Jim just relaxed as the warm water made his half asleep and the soft bubbles floated at the top of the tub. He was in there for about an half an hour before he went back to his room to find Beast was in there waiting for him, it looked like he had something important to say.

"Hello Hank, is there something you need?" Jim asked as he found his PJ's on his bed neatly folded. He had a black sweatpants and a long sleeve dark blue shirt, the shirt seemed like a belly shirt since the bottom didn't cover his abs, but the sleeves were long enough to reach a little bit past his hands.

"There was an attack on the mansion, some of the yoounger students got attack. One of the members is in a room with the Professor trying to tell him what had hapened, the other two boys though are angry and shocked they couldn't protect her. We're taking a small group to search around the ground and We could use your help" Beast explained as he left the room so Jim could change into his PJ's. Once he was finished he was told to meet the search gorup outside in a half an hour, basically Cyclopes, Jean, Jubilee, Angle, Beast, and Shadow (Jim) were going to search togther. Jim walked down some of the halls to hear the other students talk about the events that took place, most of them were kind of scared. When Jim got further down the hall he was Imric and remembered he was one of the three who got attacked. Jim walked a little faster to get to him to see he was really angry and his hand was bleeding.

"Imric........what happened?" Jim asked.

"Something bad...and we couldn't protect Steffanie from those clones who attacked us.....I feel so ashamed" Imric spat out in anger, he had a hard time entering his room since his hand was hurting so much at the moment, Jim thought he must have his something hard to make him bleed like that. Jim grabbed Imrics other hand and lead him downstair inot the kitchen and ordered him to sit on one of the stools next to the table.

"Stay while I get you a bandage" Jim ordered as he looked through the cubort and found a bottle of alchohol and some nice soft bandages. Imric knew it was oging to hurt a little when he would put the alchohol on, but didn't care at the moment. Once that was taken care of Jim made some soup for steffanie along with some toast and juice.

"She must be hungry by now" JIm said to break the silence between the two.

"I guess..." Imric trailed off still thinking about what had hapened. Jim put all the food on a tray and told Imric to bring it upstairs with him. Once they got to the room where Danny, Profesor X, and Steffanie was, Jim phased the two through the wall and saw Steffanie laying on the bed half awake and the Prof. talking to her.

"Look Steffanie.....Imric made you some food" Jim stated as he slowly walked to the door, by the time Imric turned around to correct him Jim had phased out of there to meet the search party outside.

"Ok...so everyone ready?" Cyclopes asked, everyone agnolaged and searched the grounds, they spent about 2 hours searching but didn't find anything. Everyone met back at the entrance of the mansion for a small meeting.

"Alright, we didn't find anything but that doesn't mean these "clones" are gone. The three kids will stay home from school tomorrow just to be on the safe side. But Jubillee and Shadow aren't excused from that. Bring your communicator with you just in case we need your help with something, we'll give a note to your school to excuse you whenever.

"Awwwww" Jubillee and Shadow sighed simultaniously, then everyone went back inside to lock down the mansion for the night.

Soulin gazed at the girl who stood before him after knocking out the two men who attacked him, these guys were the same lot who he had seen attack the girl and two boys

'Who are you and what are you doing here?' questioned the girl with the white strip of hair

Soulin didn't reply,

'Well i'm Rogue and your on private property so who are you and what are you doing here?' she spoke again annoyed at his nonresponsive attitude

Still Soulin didn't reply

'Well you'd better come up with an answer or I might think you were here to spy..or something,' she said raising an eyebrow

'Rogue it's ok,' smiled a red haired lady as she walked towards them and stopped beside Rogue

'He wont say nothing,' said Rogue

'Don't worry,' she spoke as she looked at the boy, 'I sensed you earlier...what is your name?'

'Soulin,' he replied looking at her

'Well i'm Jean,' she smiled, 'and welcome to Xaviers school for the gifted,'

Soulin looked at her, he didn't feel threatened by any of them...he was more scared of himself

Jean could sense the strong abilities of the boy but she didn't know what they were but knew that he was frightened

'Hey they've gone,' said Rogue looking down at the ground, the two men had disappeared but were watching them from a nearby shrub.

As they stood there Scott ran towards them and at that moment Soulin was startled by his sudden appearance and stumbled back at that moment a nearby shrub that he touched went up in flames, Jean, Scott and Rogue stepped back as they watched the shrub then turn to Ice

'Calm down, it's ok,' spoke Jean, 'We're not here to hurt you,'

Soulin looked up at them and calmed down

'Come on, I want you to meet someone,' she smiled

Sage passed by the hallway. Two girls passed her and started pointing and whispering at her. They started laughing at her when she passed.

Sage was silent for a moment and then stopped. "Is there a problem?"

The girls looked at her and rolled their eyes as they walked on.

Sage too walked on, but in a different direction. She teleported outside and ran to the clearing she had always enjoyed going to.

She looked out the window and noticed the commotion. She saw Rogue and Jean talking with someone she had never seen before. She watched as they took him and walked away.

"Odd.." she thought. She followed for a while trying to avoid being seen. But she shoul have known better. Jean had sensed her thoughts.

"It's alright Sage, you can come out. He's new here. He's not a threat."Jean said looking toward her direction.

Sage walked out from where she had tried to hide. "I really didn't think he was much of a threat, Jean. Just curious." Sage said.

Rogue rolled her eyes, "And here comes the defense barriers."

"They're not defense barriers. I just stated a fact." Sage looked at the boy and shrugged her shoulders. "He doesn't even seem that interesting."

Soulin stared at her, and a flicker of irritation ran across his gaze. Sage just stared back and shook her head. "Doesn't talk much?"

"A lot like you, if I might add." said Rogue with a smile.

"Maybe, well I'll be going. I just came out here to see who the newcomer was."

Jean smiled. "Well, we hope he's a newcomer at least. That will be up to him to decide." she smiled at Soulin and nodded at Sage. "Have a good day Sage."

"You too." she said and they walked away. Sage teleported back to the institute. She gathered her books on the way and went to her next class. She looked forward to the lesson. Just loathed the coming company.

Steffanie looked very relieved when Danny walked in the room, un harmed. She instantly switched to the language she and Danny communicated in the most ? Portuguese. ?[b]Oh, Deus, Danny! Que aconteceu? É Imric toda direito? Aqueles coisas começam afastado? Que está indo sobre? [Oh, God, Danny! What happened? Is Imric all right? Did those things get away? What is going on?][/b]? She blushed when she realized she had done it. ?[b]I?m sorry, Proffessor, I just drop into Portuguese when I?m stressed out.[/b]?

Xavier chuckled. ?[b]No worries, Steffanie.[/b]? Steffanie winced as she felt the wounds.

Xavier couldn?t hear what she was thinking. ?[b]Your good for an untrained mutant. I can?t read your thoughts, like I can Nathaniel?s and Imric?s.[/b]? Danny coughed, and said, ?[b]Erm? could you call me Danny?[/b]?

Steffanie said, mind to mind with her friend, [I]Personally, I like the name Nathaniel.[/I][/color][/font][/size]

Soulin was still irritated by Sage

'So whats up with miss I'm so proud and mighty?' qoestioned Soulin as he looked at Rogue

'Oh don't worry about her, she's always like that...personally...she's too stuck up herself for me,' smiled Rogue

Although Soulin was quiet and rather shy...there was one thing he hated the most and which always sent his nerves to the edge...bitchy, know it all people...

As they walked into the institute he noticed Sage walking towards them, anger swept across his face and his emotions started to boil as the room grew hot around them

'Soulin...not in here,' spoke Jean and Soulin calmed down

'How pathetic...is that all you can do?...i knew you were nothing to worry about and you still don't talk,' she spoke sarcastically not looking at him and at that moment Sage began to scream as Soulin started to absorb her abilities by thought and he slammed her against the wall using telekinesis, Sage tried to teleport but with Soulin absorbing her abilities she found it hard to do that and she began choaking, Her eyes widened as he walked towards her with a crooked smile

'So you want me to talk...well here's something you should remember...Mock my exsistance again super bitch and I'll rip you apart right where you stand,' growled Soulin his Blue eyes turning Icy, he could feel his abilities starting to lose control as the room temperature began to rise and drop and Sages books went up in flames and then turned to Ice and his breathing was heavy and quick

'Soulin stop it!!!,' cried out Jean, Soulin then quickly released Sage and she dropped to the floor in a heap and gasped for air as she clutched her head...she then looked up at Soulin in shock who raised an eyebrow at her, Jean ran to Sages side to see if she was hurt while Soulin walked off with Rogue and they awaited Jean in the student lounge

[COLOR=SlateGray]Imric sighed, he had dropped the food of in Steffanie's room and then left as quickly as possible, for him, that was pretty quick. He couldn't bare to be around her, to even look at her, to face the fact that he had failed to protect his little sister. The one person he loved most in the world.

The teen looked at his bruised and bloody hand, he smiled slightly at the idea of Jim trying to help him, even though they hardly knew each other. but still, he shouldn't have interfered, he didn't need to pull himself into this.

Imric lay back on his bed and looked at the discarded bandages to his side. He sighed and brought his left hand to his forehead, shielding his eyes from the glare of the sun peeking through his heavy curtains.

"What use is my power when all it lets me do is...run away?" his thoughts came out in words, his voice shaky and his bottom lip trembling. As the day wore on outside, Imric walked to his window and peered out over what was to be his new home. He felt the hot tears stream down his face, splashing on the windowsill and onto his hands. The grounds were beautiful, quite large and all green. The boy smiled again, trying to push some happy memories into his head, desperately trying to banish the tears. But they didn't seem to want to stop. All he needed now was for someone to walk in and they'd see him for the weak person he really was.

A hand connected with the cold, hard window frame. A cry of pain escaped Imric's lips as he felt one of his fingers crack with the impact.

"Why is it that the only person I ever hurt is myself?!"[/COLOR]

"Are you alright Sage?"

"Geez Jean, you could have at least warned me that he had powers like that before I decided to be myself around him." Sage said as she coughed and stood up and her head was bleeding. She looked around. "The bastard. Did you hear what he called me??"

Jean laughed, "Well Sage, you do bring that upon yourself."

"Well excuse me for not being trusting. The guy is a psycho, Jean. How do you expect him to be in this kind of enviornment and not hurt anyone??"

"If I'm not mistaken, you were the little hostile yourself in the beginning of your years here at the acadamy." she said with a smile.

"I was a lot younger, and I didn't know half the things about my powers as he does about his." she coughed again and straigtened herself. She used her healing powers to stop the bleeding on her head and to mend the bruises he had caused. "Well one thing is for sure, he's not the friendly type."

"What are you talking about? He's just as friendly as you are, Sage!" Jean said as she smiled wickedly.

"Alright, you've made your point. I guess it wouldn't be a good idea if I tried to give him a piece of my mind."

"No, I think it would be better if you let things cool down a bit."

Sage smiled a little and walked down the hallway.

MEANWHILE:

Soulin was fuming in the lounge. [i]She deserved it!! Why did Jean yell at me??[/i] he thought.

Rogue looked at him and decided it was best if she said nothing.

Soulin finally spoke. "Was I wrong? Was it wrong Rogue?"

Rogue looked down. "You have to control your anger sometimes, Soulin. You have gifts, and those gifts shouldn't be used to cause people pain. No matter how much we think they deserve it."

Soulin was quiet. He felt guilty, and justified at the same time.

"But I can't say that I wouldn't have felt like doing the same." she said and smiled.

Soulin looked at her and smiled too. But he was expecting to hear the Third degree from Jean.

Jim was in his room doing some homework he had to finish for Dr. Hank's class on science class, not only that, but also Storm made his do some extra credit assignment on Quantum physics and Geodinamic scace pollarities. Most of the time it didn't take Jim long to do his homework, but since he had to go on patrol earlier he had to set aside his work for a while. Jim finished reading the chapter in his book and leaned back in his chair balancing himself and thinking.

"Rouge said she found som guy on the campus, named Soulin...I wonder what his powers are?" Jim though as he had the raser part of his lead pencil in his mouth, he was just looking at the roof of his room, it was dark since he only had on his reading lamp to do his work. It was about to turn 2 in the morning and he needed his sleep, but Jim couldn't do so. He landed his chair on the ground and closed all his books and decided to get something to drink. While walking the empty corridors Jim saw the dent in the wall that was hit by something, the bool on it had already dried by now.

"Oh man, things are going to get crazy soon" Jim sighed as he walked down the grand staircase to get into the kitchen, he was startled to see Logan there drinking a beer and reading the newspaper from yesterday. Jim didn't bother him and just got himself a glass of milk and left to go into the student lounge to find out there were people there already. One was Rouge and another was a mutant he'd never seen before.

"OOps, sorry for intruding guys" Jim apoloigized

"Its alright Shadow" Rouge replied. "This is soulin, we founf him outside while we were on partol" She stated as she pointed to the mutant that looked really mad for some reason. Jim walked over to the two and extended his hand for a hand shake.

"Nice to meet you kid" Jim said, but Soulin just brushed him off and looked at a different direction. "Ok....I'm gonna go now" Jim stated as he left the lounge, he basically finished his milk before get got all the way up the grand staircase before he got a mental message from Xavier.

*Shadow, could you come into the room for a moment?*

*Sure thing Prof...* Jim responded and headed towards the room where he and the girl were. He saw that she had eaten the food he made for her and was now fast aleep. The boy Danny was getting sleepy to but didn't want to leave, the professor turned to Jim and began to talk.

"Jim, I would like you to keep an eyes out for these three youngsters while they are staying here, dont let them out of your sites for a second. Since the school is not safe now I need someone who can basically walk into different parts of the mansion for inspections. You so far have met Imric and you handled him very well with his anger...but I fear he might still be hurting. You so fr are the most mature X-Man recruit I can trust with these teens, please dont fail me" Xavier stated

"But why not the regular team?" Jim asked raising an eyebrow.

"Their going to be pre-occupied with missions and teaching the students during the day, you'll be excused from all your classes now" Xavier said as he headed towards the door. "Danny, I will show you to your room now" He finished talking, Danny went his him hesitantly but finally left. Jim stood outside Steffanies door to be on watch.

"Guess I'll be like a body guard now" Jim thought as he stood in front of her door meditating so he wouldn't fall asleep. "I promise to keep them safe and wont let the others down"

Danny tried desperately not to blush when Steffanie said she liked his name, and when Xavier led him out of the room, it was like releasing built up stress. He breathed out and his face turned undeniably red. For lack of a better word, he felt fuzzy inside whenever Steffanie made comments like that. Even if they were a little sarcastic.

Professor Xavier smiled slightly, though Danny couldn't see his face. His thoughts were all too easy for Xavier to read at this point. "You have feelings for her." Danny looked up, startled. "Huh? Well, uh... I, er, I mean, she..." His face turned even more red if it was even possible. Xavier chuckled lightly and waved a hand at him. "Don't worry, your 'secrets' safe with me."

Danny did his best to smile.

Later he lay in his room, after Xavier had shown it to him of course. That was certainly an interesting experience. With nothing else to do at the moment, he practiced his shaky telekynesis on small object around the room.[/COLOR]

Soulin stood beside the window when Jean walked back in, she raised a finger to her temple and through telepathy she contacted the professor and then walked towards Soulin

'Soulin that was wrong in what you did,' she spoke

'It's always wrong...when is it ever right,' he asked her not taking his eyes away from the window

Jean looked at Rogue and then looked at him

'Soulin, you can't go around the school doing that to people,' said Jean with a smile

'I know it's wrong Jean...but..' Soulin looked at her but didn't finish what he was going to say.

At that moment a bald man in a floating chair hovered into the room, and the doors closed behind him, Soulin looked around agitated by the doors closing

'It's ok, the doors are unlocked, you don't need to be frightened,' spoke the man calmly

'Soulin i'd like you to meet Professor Xavier, he's the one who created the institute for the gifted,' smiled Jean, 'Professor this is Soulin,'

'It's a pleasure to meet you Soulin,' smiled the Professor sensing the boys fear, 'Please take a seat and tell me what your doing here?'

Soulin looked at Jean and Rogue who nodded to him, Soulin then sat down stifly

'I just ended out here, thats all, I took a wrong turn,' replied Soulin, the professor then began reading his thoughts and he had seen images of what Soulin had been through, Soulin felt a strange pressents inside his head, and then he noticed the professor concentrating on him, startled by it Soulin jumped out of the chair, at the sametime the professors chair slammed back into the wall and Jean and Rogue were also lifted off the ground and slammed against the walls

'Ok..ok Soulin, don't fear, I wasn't trying to hurt you,' spoke the Professor calmly as he watched Soulin back up against the wall, 'I was just rying to see where you came from, I didn't mean to pry,'

'Soulin, it's ok,' spoke Rogue as she got up off the floor along with Jean

'I..I didn't mean to hurt you,' spoke Soulin as his face began to turn red and the the temperature began to rise and drop

'It's ok...just calm down, I'm sorry...just calm down,' smiled the professor, Soulin closed his eyes and the room temp went back to normal, 'Now sit down please,'

Soulin hesitantly sat back down in the chair as the professor slowly hovered towards him

'You have extremely strong abilities,' said The Professor

'I can only control them to a point,' spoke Soulin as he looked down at his hands

'And you are scared that you might hurt more innocent people,' said the professor

'Yes,' replied Soulin, they spoke for a while before the professor looked at him

'I'd like for you to join our institute, we can help you gain control over your abilities,' smiled the professor, Soulin looked at him, 'Only if you want to but it would be nice, Rogue you can show him around just so he knows what this place is like,'

'Yes professor,' smiled Rogue as they walked out of the student lounge

'He's a wild card isn't he?' questioned Jean looking at the Professor

'His abilities are strong...very strong we need to keep close watch over him from a distance of course, he's already blown up a number of orphanages out of rage, those were the images I managed to get from him before he realised what was happening..He's a very angry teen but he's also scared of his abilities, hopefully if he stays here we can help him like the others,' explained the professor

'I also want to ask him a few questions about those clones that attacked Steffanie and the two boys, he was there when it happened, I sensed his presence and he knew it,' said Jean

'Just becareful Jean,' smiled the professor as they walked out of the room

[COLOR=SlateGray]Imric still sat on his window, staring out at the dark sky. His hand throbbed and bled out onto his pants but he didn't care.

Resting his head against the cold glass, he sighed.

"I don't think I'll be getting much sleep here...."

Imric never slept much anyway, usually woken by nightmares or kept awake by fear, always wishing he could be stronger.
But no matter, he was who he was and there wasn't anything he could do.

[I]Maybe these people can help me... [/I]

His brow wrinkled as he thought hard about the people he had seen today. Lots of people with powers, heck, this place was an institute for people like himself.

"I suppose I have nothing to worry about then."

With that he undid his hair and got undressed, climbing under the warm covers of his new bed.
His hand still throbbing and his finger swelling up, the teen was somehow able to drift off into an uneasy sleep.[/COLOR]

[color=orange][size=1][font=veranda]Steffanie tossed and turned in her sleep, and a couple of the student?s had to shield their minds.

[I]The clone lunged at her in the underbrush, and Steffanie went down. His claws raked down her leg, and dug into her shoulder as she tried to get away.[/I]

Steffanie moaned in remembered pain. She struggled with her invisible foe.

[I]Steffanie screamed as his claws dug in further, and then slashed at the gashes in her leg. Her eyes scrunched shut, and she blasted the clones mind apart.[/I]

Elsewhere in the school, Jean gasped, and clung to the wall. When she regained herself, she darted towards Steffanie?s room.

[I]The other clone caught up, and the gun pointed level at Steffanie?s chest as she struggled to stand. She lurched out of the way, and two bullet?s became embedded in her thigh.[/I]

A scream tore from Steffanie?s throat, and Jim was by her side, trying to wake her up. Imric and Danny came in one behind the other. And tried to help. They couldn?t get her to wake up,

[I]Steffanie fell with a thud to the ground, and struggled to stand back up. Danny and Imric were now turned around, and they couldn?t do anything before the clone shot her five times in the stomach. Steffanie?s mind blurred with pain, and she collapsed to the ground as her raging brother and friend fried the clone.[/I]

Jean pushed the three boys away from Steffanie, and pressed her hands to the girl?s temple. She forced her barrier?s down, and dragged her out of the nightmare.

Steffanie flew awake, and instantly grabbed for Danny and Imric. The two sat next to her, cradling the sobbing girl. Jean said to Jim outside, her voice grim, ?I wish I didn?t have to do that. Her powers are not going to be able to be used for a long time, and anyone using powers on her could hurt her. I rubbed her channels raw trying to get her out.?

Inside, Steffanie leaned on Imric, glad for the secure form of her brother. She shuddered non stop, sobs tearing themselves from her throat.[/color][/font][/size]

[COLOR=DarkOliveGreen]Danny had been wrenched out of a more or less sound sleep, several small objects in the room jumping as he sat bolt upright. Steffanie's nightmare echoed through his head in disorienting waves. He dashed to her room, Imric metting him along the way.

Danny sat on Steffanie's other side, severely worried as the others were. Imric rocked his sister back and forth as soothingly as he could. She still cried, but the heart wrenching sobs seemed to lessen in intensity.

Danny gripped the sheets of the disheveled bed, feeling awkward and useless doing nothing. He caught Imric's eye and the older boy nodded the slightest bit. Danny cautiously put a hand on Steffanie's shoulder, scooting closer. He tried to think of comforting memories and feelings, sending them telepathically to her.

He could feel her heart-beat, a steady thumping resonating from her chest. The subtle vibration was soothing in a way, despite it's quickened pace in the girl's fear and despair.[/COLOR]

Jim was outside of Stefanies room trying to convince the other students who had awaken that the screames were nothing to worry about, but some of them didn't buy his excuse for one bit. Though he was older they still had to listen to him and return to their rooms to go to sleep. After an hour or so Jean came out and had a very scared expression on her face.

"I dont know if I can keep those bad images and memory's out of her head for long, they seem to pop up at random when she's asleep" Jean said leaning against a wall near the door.

"Do you think those colnes are telepaths as well? They might be able to enter in her sleep and harm her there" Jim said closing the door to Stefanies room witht eh tree inside.

"No, there was no physical harm done to the girl when she was asleep, but I fear it might get to her more and more in her head" Jean replied as she went down the corridor to inform the professor on the issue. "Stay in the room with them tonight just in case she has another attack Jim, then just phase through the rooms to get the others and myself" Jean said as she was out of sight of Jim. Scratching his head Jim slowly entered the dark room by opening the door very slowly, the door made some noises that made Danny and Imric ready to kill.

"It's alright guys, its just me" Jim wispered to them when he noticed that Stefanie was alseep in Imrics arms when he was holding her. Danny was sitting on a hair next to her bed just looking at the one he liked endure so much pain. Jimopened some window blinds to bring in the moon's light into the room so he could see everyone. Jim then leaned against a wall and tried to get some sleep while watching the three, it took them about 2 hours just to fall right asleep. Jim decided to join them but knew he had to protect them all while everyone else was on missions and such. he was about to leave the room until he got an idea, he tied very thin peices of wire to everyone in the room including himself, so if anyone is in danger all Jim would have to do is phase and they would be out of danger too. Then Jim left the room quietly and stood outside the door to stand watch again. He noticed that some of the students were waking up from the mornings light, Jim looked outside one of the window in the corridor to notice it was sunrise now.

"Well....at least the worst part is over" Jim though as he closed his eyes to meditate and be aware of his surroundings so he would know if anyone would approach him trying to get inside the room.

Sage was awake when she heard the screams from Steffanies room. She couldn't go back to sleep. She didn't know what to feel. She touched the light fixture in her room and the entire room lit up. She walked over to the window and closed her eyes.

"She's in pain..." she thought. She wanted to know what was going on. She was about to teleport when she heard a knock at the door.

She walked over and found Rogue standing in her doorway. She was bleeding badly. She fell over on the ground.

Sage knew why she had come. Sage without thinking put her hands directly on the wound. She felt her power leaving her. Fortunately, her healing powers were her most abundant ability. She had the power to heal even the toughest wounds.

But she couldn't save her parents....

The energy left her and she collapsed to the ground in exhausation. Rogue sat up and stared at Sage. "Thank you...." she said softly.

Sage sat up slowly. "Don't mention it..." she said as she got to her knees.

Rogue felt the hole in her chest. "The bullet passed right through..."

Sage breathed in slowly trying to regain her strength. "What are you talking about?? Bullet??"

"I was shot, Sage. I was walking outside, and I heard a noise near a window. I went to investigate and someone shot me. I didn't know where else to go. This was the closest room I was around."

Sage finally stood up and brushed off her shirt. "The last time you came here, it was a lot worse. I should start making you pay for all of these visits." she said as she held her hand out.

Rogue took it and lifted herself up. She smiled. "You're such a pain, Sage."

"Thanks for the insult, but I think I prefer 'stuck up' more." Sage said with a half smile. "Let's go report this to Jean. My guess is that this has something to do with the Steffanie problem."

[Ezekiel]

[COLOR=SlateGray]Imric smiled slightly as he cradled his sleeping sister in his arms. He was glad he could still make her feel safe after not being able to save her before.

"You see, Imric, she knows you did everything you could." Danny smiled and spoke with a whisper, just then he noticed Imric's bruised and swollen hand.

"Woah, Imric, what happened?"

Imric winced and tried to hide his hand in his sisters hair but Danny was too quick, he held Imric?s wrist and inspected his older friends hand,
"Did you get in a fight?"

"Yeah, with myself..." the boy looked down, his eyes staring into his sisters now peaceful face.
"I let my anger take over my body...again."

Danny sighed and sat closer to Steffanie, pulling her from Imric?s arms and laying her back down on the bed.
"You need to talk to someone about that, Imric, or you'll end up hurting yourself, and maybe others."

Imric nodded in reply and continued to look at his sister's face; he stroked her cheek with his uninjured hand and smiled ever so slightly.

"I'm going back to my room now, Danny. You take good care of her."

With hat the boy leant down and kissed his sleeping sister's forehead, before straightening up and walking to the door.

"You know I will, Imric..."

Imric smiled again and nodded, "I thought so..."

With that he walked out the door, shutting it lightly behind him.

"I need to find the Professor..."[/COLOR]

Jim woak out of his meditation to see that Imric quietly slosing the door behind him, he turned around ot talk to the young boy.

"Where are you off to Imric?" Jim asked loking down as the young mutant.

"I want to see the professor, do you know where he is?" Imric replied

"Well he should be on the first floor teaching a class right now. I dont think I can let you go now but when its over I'll be glad to take you. Now lets go change your bloodly bandages for some fresh new ones" Jim smiled. Imric wanted to see the prof. really badly but he knew he could wait, besides he trusted Jim enough to keep a promise. Both went down the staircase into the kitchen and changed Imric's bandages, by the time they fiished all the classes were changing and Jim lead Imric to the room where Xavier was teaching. The Professor already knew Imric was coing and cleared his schedual to see him, Jim and Imric entered the room.

"Ah yes, you want to speak to me about somehting Imric?" The Professor spoke, Jim felt he wasn't suppose to be in the conversation at the monent so he left the room without making a noise. Once he got out Jim decided to head into the courtyard for some fresh air, he knew danny and Stefanie would be fine for a while so he just walked around admiring the flowers and the sculptures. Not far from where he was Wolverine was teaching his karate class to some of the students and Nightcawler was running a simulation training with the students. Jim walked to the front of the mansion to find itcompletly empty, no cars out front and the gates were closed as usual, but at the corner of his eye he thougt he spotted someone that was running. Jim didn't care for it much until it happened again and again, like someone was about to stike him, Jim slowly walked to the back of the mansion where the forest was, he though he could lose his persuer in there. But to his luck he didn't.

"Please, whoever is out there you shouldn't be afraid to talk to me, I'm a nice guy" Jim yelled into the thic forest all aorund him and got no responce. Jim heard some rustling in the bushes and desiced to sprint out of the forst as fast as he could, once he got aout he was about a mile away form the house. Thats when his preditor made himself know and attacked Jim and they bother rolled around the ground, Jim was pinned on the ground as his attacker tried to peirce his flesh with some sharp claws. Jim phased into the ground to avoid the deadly blow and re-appear a little bit farther away from his atacker.

"Someone......I need some help" Jim yelled hopeing to get someones attention from inside the mansion, he turned his head around to look and see if anyone was coming. Unfortunatly when Jim tunred his head the attacker peirced his shoulder area with three of his sharp claws going all the way through the skin into his back and out again. Jim couldn't say anything, he was filled with so much pain he was paralized, his attacker did the same thing with his other arm but peirced his chest area until his claws went out to his back. The attacker took out his claws and left Jim all alone in the feild, Jim stood their shaking a bit and bleeding from his deep wounds, his clothes were slowly being covered by his own blood. Jim became unconcious ad fell the the ground face first.

Rogue was the first to hear the cries. She ran ahead and saw Jim, face down in the dirt.

"JIM!" she yelled. She ran over to him but Sage pushed her out of the way.

"Get back! You can't help him right now." Sage examined the damage. "He's in bad shape. Really bad. We have to get him some help."

"But he's breathing, right??"

"Barely. He's unconscious." Sage pulled off her gloves and placed a firm hand on his body. She concentrated and used her healing powers on the boy. The wounds healed slowly, but she knew there was more damage than what she could help.

"We need to get him to the Specialists!" Rogue said.

"Contact them. Tell them I'm coming in." Sage said. She put her arms around Jim, and teleported out of the forest.

She reached the building where she used her speed. She dodged passing kids in a blink of an eye and dashed into a room where several specialists came and took Jim from her.

Sage watched as they ran him into critical care.

"You did a fine job, Sage."

Sage turned around and saw Jean in back of her. "The forest is dangerous. Rogue was attacked as well, Jean."

"I know. She told me."

"Why is this happening? Why are all of these people getting hurt?" Sage said, with a tinge of anger in her voice.

Jean looked up and toward the room they had taken Jim. "I don't know. At least, not yet."

[COLOR=DarkOliveGreen]Danny was dozing off, but kept himself awake to watch over Steffanie. He looked dow nat her sleeping form and found himself blushing. She was unbelievably cute when she was asleep. He sighed and leaned back in his chair, still tired after a night of shifting in and out of sleep.

Every few seconds he glanced back at Steffanie, eventually forcing himself to look away. He couldn't stand it anymore and got up to sit next to her on the bed. He brushed a strand of hair from her face and let his hand rest on hers. In truth, he felt a little foolish, but her sleeping body was warm and comforting. Not to mention the cuteness factor.

A minute later, Steffanie stirred in her sleep and Danny nearly jumped, ready to blurt out a stream of 'I'm sorry' and 'I didn't mean to'. He relaxed when she didn't wake up and blushed more than ever at the close call.

"[size=1]Nathaniel...[/size]" Steffanie muttered almost silently in her sleep. Danny really did jump this time, but somehow didn't wake her up.[/COLOR]

[Heero Darkangel]

Soulin walked out of his room that Rogue had shown him to and stood in the hallway in his boxers, he knew he heard screams but from where...he couldn't tell, He waled to the window and peered out to see Rogue, Sage and Jean running inside with Jim...the guy who he brushed off early

He then quickly ran down the stairs and looked around, he had just missed them and he didn't know where they had gone from there, as he walked to the door to close it something shiny caught his eye from the shrubs, slowly he walked out the door and stood just outside it, the shrubs shook violently as shadows apeared behind them suddenly they started firing upon the institute, frozen from the gun fire Soulin stood there as the bullets smashed through the walls and windows and at that moment a bullet pierced his leg making him snap out of it, he dropped to the ground as another bullet nicked his arm...anger swelled in his heart as he looked up, the shadows kept firing upon the school...

Soulin then stood up and trying to control himself he raised his hands all bullets that were flying towards him stopped in mid air, his hands began to shake as the grass around him truned to Ice

'SOULIN!!,' cried out Jean as she ran to his side and helped him hold off the bullets

'I can't control it anymore!!!,' yelled Soulin as all bullets began to explode and his abilities went wild, Jean was thrown to the side as Soulins telekinesis sent eveything around him back about one hundred meters, even trees and shrubs were torn out of the ground and the rest of the windows on the institute smashed, His fire and Ice ability raged out of him uncontrollingly and created a funnel like tornadoe that circled around his body and up into the sky as he dropped to the ground, the ground began to lift around him, he tried to control it but he was still angry about the shadows that opened fire on the institute...

'SOULIN STOP...PLEASE STOP...YOUR GOING TO HURT SOMEONE!!!,' cried out Jean as she lay on the ground, blood ran down her face from a gash she endured when she was thrown, 'PLEASE SOULIN!!!,'

Soulin heard her cries and looked at her with fear in his eyes..'HELP ME!!!,' he cried out, as he reached out to her but as he did that he began to drain Jeans abilities

'SOULIN....STOP!!!,' she cried out in pain as she was lifted off the ground

'NNOOO!!,' roared Soulin as he looked away from her, Jean's body slammed into the ground lifelessly and he clutched his head and curled up into a ball

Jean slowly sat up and using what strength she ahd, she blocked Soulins enraged emotions which immediately stopped Soulins abilities, Soulin lay shievering as Jean slowly crawled over to him...

'Its over now...Soulin...it's over,' she whispered as she grabbed him and hugged him, he looked up at her

'I'm sorry...I was just trying to help...I'm sorry,' he whispered with fear in his eyes

Sage watched as Jean held Soulin. To her surprise, she actually felt bad for him. She knew he was trying to help. And she could see how lost he looked. It stunned her to say the least, that it was affecting her that much.

Rogue walked up behind her. "He's not a bad guy, once you get to know him."

Sage's face went red. She didn't want people thinking she was going soft. "What are you talking about? He's a menace to the entire Institute!!"

Rogue shook her head. "You know, for once I thought maybe you cared." she turned around and left Sage in the hallway by herself.

Sage stared at them for a while. She watched as Rogue went over and helped Soulin up. She watched as Jean gave him a small hug and he smiled. He glanced over in her direction, but she turned around quickly and teleported out of sight.

Sometimes she wondered what she was doing to herself. Why did she avoid people? She wanted to be like them. She wanted to show feeling. But whenever the chance arose for her to show warmth, her barriers went up. She was protecting herself. She had loved her parents. And she lost them. She lost everything. And she promised herself that she would never allow that to happen to her again. She didn't want to care or even love again. Because the feeling of loss was too much for her to bare..

Steffanie woke with a jolt, and a gasp of pain. Danny instantly mumbled something, but she clutched at him, panting as if she had just run a race. ?[b]Nathan? Danny, someone?s hurt! No, more than-[/b]? She stopped, and nearly fell over as a wave of pain and mixed emotions hit her.

With Danny?s help, Steffanie left the room. Jean had changed her ripped clothing for newer ones, though they looked a lot a like. Steffanie closed her eyes, ?searched? the grounds, and then said, ?[b]Stay here.[/b]?

Steffanie phased through the floor, and then took off running. She slid through a wall to the outside, startling a couple student?s, and made for Jean, Soulin, and Rogue. She came to a panting halt, and dropped to her knee?s next to Jean. Her hands went to the teacher?s head, and the wound?s mended beneath her fingers.

Without a second thought, Steffanie touched Soulin, and healed him. A wave of pain lurched over her body as she used her healing on the two, but she had to help? she couldn?t let them stay like this.

The girl slumped down and Danny caught up with her. Steffanie shook with pain, and she bit back sobs.[/color][/font][/size]
