I think The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice is the best series ever, but that's just my opinion. It draws you in; it's a compulsive read you know? What does everyone else think about this series. It's amazing. If you've never read it before, you must read it. It is number one on the must-read list, lol.

The chronicles are mostly told from the perspective of Lestat "the brat prince", though the first book of the series 'Interview with the Vampire' was told from the POV of Louis, Lestats childe. The books are written to make it seem that it is the vampires themselves writting the books, under the pseudenim of Anne Rice.

I used to read Anne Rice compulsivley.Once I read Blood and Gold, however, I kind of lost interest. I am currently trying to read Memnoch the Devil and I'm finding it hard to develop enough interet in it to just keep reading. I dunno, maybe I'm just getting bored with Lestat or if I just need to give it a rest for a while. I personally think, though, that the best days were during interview, lestat and queen of the damned.

BTW Pro..the other guy in your sig is Matt Damon

Has anyone read Blood Canticle? That's her newest addition to the series, but I'm just starting to read Interview with the Vampire. I've read half of it before, but I quit, lol. Well, don't give up hope if you're reading the series. It's good, so finish it if you can. Yeah, it's from the perspective of the vampire. Lestat, by the way, was made from Stan Rice, Anne's husband.

Anne Rice is an excellent writer, but I feel at times she tends to drag on, especially in her descriptions. As vivid and well written as they are, I can't help but think "Ok, I honestly don't care what the room looks like, take me back into the action already!".

Of course I still read all of the vampire chronicles, though reading 'Interview with the Vampire' it was really hard to keep going, and I never even finished 'The Vampire Armand'. 'The Vampire Lestat' was probably my favorite, though 'Queen of the Damned' and 'Memnoch the Devil' are right up there. I absolutely devoured 'Pandora' as well.

I think you can tell that Anne Rice's mind is a boggle of conflicting ideas. For the first couple of books, she left religion almost completely out of the mix (Purposefully you can tell, as she makes it clears cruxcifixes do not have any effects on her vampires), then all of a sudden BAM she decides to dedicate a whole book to the heaven and earth, god and devil concept. I really like that she's flexible like that (But don't forget, this entire post is just one opinion).

I am currently in the middle of 'Blood and Gold', which started of amazingly, but has unfortunately lost it's lustre. I'm still trudging through it, hoping that some of the magic will return. I'm also thinking of reading her other series of the Mayfare Witches or something like that. Sorry, but I haven't really gotten around to reading them yet. :D

I saw the movie "Interview with the Vampire" and "The Queen of the Damned" and but I've only read the former (because I'm spending my money on some other more entertaining stuff, heh).

All I can say is, Anne Rice do tend to ramble too much on loads of details but I also think that its a good thing to some people, like me, who wants to imagine clear views of the scnerios in a book. But yes, It can be pretty tiring to read paragraphs of details and adjectives and I admit that I lose my focus sometimes as I read her book. ^_^;

I am really amazed at how Anne Rice envisioned the lives of vampires. I think she made them very unique and a lot more sophisticated than the usual vampire we see on cartoons and other TV programs. And it's funny how I get so mixed up trying to think how her vampires show so much desire for blood like how humans crave for sex. And sometimes, I wonder how she differentiates the desires of vampires for blood and sex... or maybe vampires don't have sexual desires. O.o

I've only read one book so I have a lot of questions. ^_^

She goes on with descriptions a lot, I know. But I think that is what makes her a good author. The descriptions and things make it a better novel in my opinion. I'm still reading the first book , so don't feel bad. I have a friend who's read like all of them though. It's a great series. I might try her other series' when I finish the vampire chronicles.

Does anyone know how far she's gonna take the series?
