A new type of Adventure Square

I was searching on my favorite how to draw website today and went on their forums.I decided to see what type of adventure rp's they do to see if it is as good as these rp's.When I went on it they were intead of writing it out they would let you draw it for yourself. When I looked at some of the comics they did on the rp's they were BRILLIANT! So maby you can try to put a part of the forum dedicated to adventures that are drawn out.But you can keep the adventure square since not all people draw that good so they can describe it.But like I was saying if you put a part of the forum dedicated to that then the rp's will turn into comics! But this is just a suggestion I would like to see it but you don't have too.

It would boost peoples intrest in some rp's though....atleast I think.

Definately. This sounds really intriguing, especially if you gather some of the best OB artists around. There isn't a rule to it, but I'm sure the RPGs would take a long while to do if you really spent your time making your post. And to keep from anyone making a comic and then posting it at the same time and getting all distressed, you should make it so you state who posts next and have an organized way of doing it, like the current chapter system of RPGs in the Adventure Square.

Good luck with it. It's nifty :^D

I really like the idea of this, but when you say drawing out the RPGs, do you mean on the spot (ie Oekaki) or actually drawing it by hand, scanning and then sending in the pictures.
Whereas I may be a decent artist on paper, it becomes extremely difficult to draw on the computer, obviously because I can only draw with a mouse.

So, either way, this is an excelent idea and I'm sure a lot of people would be very enthusiastic about it.

Yeah,so when people are going to post some se-........ I mean good action scenes they can draw it out and make it look real good.I would really like to see a good artist or drawer attend this. That would really spice up the rps atleast I think.

I think this would be a fun idea. But rather then creating a forum for it specifically...

Wouldn't it be better to try out one RPG in the already existing area? That way, you could see how many are interested, and would be dedicated to the idea. That way in the Underground you could find more people's thought on it. Or if you should draw by hand or Omekei.

But there might be a few problems, mainly because of the RPG types and rating. It would also cause the artist a lot of problems with detail; scenery, character designs, persona, language, body movement, etc.

So their character designs would have to be kept a bit simpler so that the artist would be able to draw the characters repeatedly. Or so that other people could include the other RP'ers characters in their post. Plus, I know many good, well rounded, artist sometimes have problems to draw or make drawings or paintings with more then one person. But can do it if they digitally edit, about, 4 pieces together. Unless of course, they're able to easily. Which I find hard for many people to do.

Then there is also that possiblity that the RP'ers may loose interest or tire of drawing/painting/omekei.

Still, the whole drawn out RPG would be a nice, unique, change.

They don't have to draw very good.It can be simple drawings if you want a sample of how it would look, look in the pm I will pm you. They all draw different some chose to color some have better detail and stuff like that. But what you said is true someone can loose intrest in drawing it out....what is a Omekei? Actually, Crucifix, there are those people with the wonderful power of a Wacom pen that allows them to doodle on the computer. I, for one, have one so I'd be able to accomplish this type of RPG. But then again, I'd prefer drawing something as important as parts to this type of RPG by hand and then scanning it. My artwork on the computer could never compare to that on paper.
....what is a Omekei? [/SIZE']
Well I can tell you what an Oekaki is. It's a drawing done straight onto the computer without scanning it and colouring it graphically. The word also means 'doodle' in Japanese I believe...but anyways.
Some people, like myself, use a mouse and others , whom are blessed with a tablet, can draw with that too.

It's just us poor plebs who are stuck with using the crappy tools to get the drawings done -.-;

And yes, I do know about those pens, and I shall be investing in one soon...when I have enough money. But still, I'm sure a lot of people prefer the traditional pens and paper art still...at least I hope so O_o

Also, I?m quite fond of Eikou?s suggestion of trying this out before creating another forum, I?m sure it would work.

This is actually an idea I've been toying with incorporating into one of the RPGs I'd like to do sometime. (No immediate plans, heh, but fun things to think about.) I think the main problem would simply be finding people with enough time and commitment to go in with it.

And it can easily go into the current RPG forum. It's there for people to experiment with, after all. ^_^

I think that this is a great idea for an rpg, though I don't know if there should be a whole section for this. I think it should go in the adventure square, and you should just state in the title that it's an illustrated rpg or something. I would love to join in this kind of rpg.

Interesting, most interesting.

To be honest I think it's a nice idea though not everyone on OB is an artist, I myself wouldn't draw well if my life depended on it. Others though like Gavynn for instance have some really great talent when it comes to their art and it really helps set the atmosphere in their RPGs. To be honest I couldn't see it becoming a standard requirement in the Adventure Square, as I said not everyone would have the skill to augment art successfully into their RPGs. However that's not to say that other people shouldn't try and implement it if they've got the skills, fair play to them and the best of luck.

What a lovely idea!

Two suggestions:
1. A collaboration between two RPGers should be allowed. I mean, one writes the story and the other draws.
2. An image, aside from the character description, must be required in the sign-up. A note should be made stressing the important details in that character's design.

I'd like to be a part of this experiment/OB-history-in-the-making event, if that's okay with you.

Love and Peace! (and Good Luck!) :love2:

Well you already spoke to me on AIM and I said that it was fine with me. I didn't get a chance to ask you enough questions though.

If the story were to be played out with the sole use of pictures it would be extremely difficult. I'm not bad at drawing people but my backgrounds are crappy, for example. Like some people draw amazing Mechs and other's draw great dragons...people have different talents.

I think it should be along the lines of a picture book, with writing to push the story along and then illustrations to run along side. Like when writing, you could draw a picture of a big situation and hyperlink it to the text, or we could discuss the storyline before hand and see who would draw what.

*shrugs* Just trying to get the ideas flowing...mainly because I'm still trying to figure out how this would work properly myself. O_o

But I can help with the story and stuff like that if ya need it.

This sounds like a very interesting and unique idea. Two things which I have been searching for. So, what's the URL to the site you discovered this on? I'd like to take a peek at it to get some ideas.

Ok, if the person who can administrate the forums read this and actually will put this than look at this website.

The Idea

This is a forum where you get to brush up on your sequential art skills by trying new things. Instead of brushing up on your writing skills you can do it on your drawing skills if you put this forum in. It should be in an different forum because it would look more neat? Anyway it would ease some confusion and to me this sounds just fun. Since I know people have better ideas then me maby they can make an drawn adventure or battle out of it.

It isn't necessary for us to make a whole new forum. If you guys want to do "art battles" or something along those lines, you can use the Adventure Square or the Art Studio.

You can have sign-ups in Adventure Inn and put your battles in Adventure Square as you would with any other type of battle or RPG. The only difference is that you're using imagery.

It really depends what you want to do. If you want to make a manga or something like that, you'll probably want to use Adventure Square. If you're just wanting to do a "graphics battle", then Art Studio is more appropriate.

Either way, we've always allowed for this at OB. This concept isn't new; it's just that very few people here have ever done it.
