Alrighty, I'm new to the forums and also to computer graphics and all that good stuff. So this is my first wallpaper I have made, done in photoshop with a picture of a majin from Disgaea and a background I put together. Please rate it and suggest improvements, or maybe if I'm lucky enough even a little praise. Okay I'm dreamin there but give it a look.

Well, I like it, but as requested I'll try to help you make improvements.

1. As a general rule when I make wallpapers, I prefer to keep just about all of the action on the right side of the screen and make the left side pretty sparse. This is more of a personal preference thing since I like to have my various icons fill up the entire left half of the screen. However, I do believe quite a few people don't use desktop icons, so this suggestion really boils down to a matter of preference.

2. It looks like the Majin on the right is a completely different drawing than the Majin on the left. Rather than using two different Majin drawings, create 2 separate layers, each with the same Majin image (preferrably the color one in this situation). On one of those layers, reflect the image and experiment with filters to see if you can create a similar effect (I'm certain it's possible, but I'm too lazy to figure it out right now), then position it wherever you feel it might be necessary to.

3. The focus of the wallpaper looks to be more on the sort of starry background than on the Majin. While the bg is nice, I'd recommend making the Majin bigger, at least if the image quality allows. You don't necessarily need to have a full body shot, you know.

And that's my 2 cents

I really like it. I do agree with F-bomb in that i prefer the majority on the right side, but like he said, its a personal preference thing. Considering this is your first one, you did very well. Kudos. I myself (another personal preference doothing)) would rethink the color scheme a little. Bright green is just...spooky...Nice work anyway and I hope to see more of your work!

I always like to see enhanced backgrouds that use a color scheme that coordinates with the subject/s. However, it does not look horrible. =]

Adjusting the RGB levels of the backgroud layer, if you haven't flattened the image, may or may not change the hue of it... I honestly don't remember.

In agreement with F-Bomb, I also believe the focus is a little off... you should do more to bring the attention to that character, my eyes were drawn towards the background right off.
