Brasil
Welcome to Star Wars: Rebel Scum. FORMAT AND CHARACTER SELECTION: The format and character selection will be similar to The History Channel's historical documentaries. Once I'm able to find a picture of the narrator I'm using, that should provide an ample look and feel for the character, which will make writing the narration that much easier for whomever is selected for it. The character selection is a unique one, in that those signing-up are able to play any character in The Empire. But (and this is an important but), the big three of The Empire, Grand Moff Tarkin, Darth Vader, and Emperor Palpatine, will be a very, very selective process, as I have a very specific vision for how they will be presented. Thus, I will have exceedingly high demands regarding writer quality and skill if I'm accepting people to play those parts. If no-one fits the style for those three, I may have to play them myself, but I'm sure there are some on OB who can pull it off. Any other characters are more hands-off...Stormtroopers, Imperial Officers, citizens of The Empire, etc, because their framework is fairly ambiguous, and they don't really need to be totally defined, as they aren't the major figureheads in The Empire. Basically, I'll be working closely with Tarkin, Vader and Palpatine to help establish their characters for the context of the RPG. With that said, I'll talk briefly about the format. In those documentaries, there is usually a chronological flow that they use, with backstory and biography added in when necessary. For example, in Rebel Scum, we may open on the twilight of the Old Republic, and see Palpatine ascend to the throne, but instead of pushing on through his ascension, we're given his biography, and told about his childhood, perhaps given the story of how he started his political career as mayor of his hometown on Coruscant. Star Wars: Rebel Scum will be a mini-series documentary, divided up into Episodes. This will also help bridge it to the Saga, because it will have Episodes I, II, III, IV, etc. SIGN-UPS: Sign-Ups are fairly free-form, in that I only ask for a writing sample. Do something creative about any aspect of Star Wars, about anyone, anywhere, anytime. I don't expect anything ground-breaking, but "wow" me. There is a lot of material in the Star Wars universe; give it to me in a way I haven't seen. SUMMARY: The Star Wars Saga is created so that we can start asking questions...so we can look at things from a different point of view. But when we're seeing things only from the Rebellion's point of view, how can we gain more perspective on the "galaxy far, far away?" Star Wars: Rebel Scum Get ready to get down with The Empire. Start seeing things their way. Travel the galaxy, meet important people. You may just have the honor of playing The Emperor! Enlist today and experience the greatest saga ever told: yours.
DuoMax
The name from KOTOR is Carth Onasi, btw. EDIT: Edited to accomodate new sign-up rules. Sample from another RP board.
A flicker of pseudomotion and another Imperial Star Destroyer drops out of hyperspace above Tatooine. It orients itself towards the other ships above Tatooine. The hull of the Star Destroyer is marred by turbolaser burns and other minor damage. Aboard the ship, Captain Jureel Dartan paces the bridgee, eyes widening in shock as he gazes out the viewport at the 3 Star Destroyers and the single Inderdictor class ship hanging in space over Tatooine. He turns towards the crew pits. "Raise shields immediately! I want to know what that fleet is and whether they're Rebel, Imperial, or one of those balsted Warlords! Helm, stand by to get us out of here. I want escape vectors plotted in case they bring up the gravity well generators. Gunnery, stand by to open fire as soon as those ships make a hostile move! Communications, open a channel." Jureel seethed inside. First the raid on that Rebel base, where the garrison had been far stronger than expected, forcing him to cut and run. Now this! Hopefully these were Imperial ships. But what would they be doing here of all places? There was a chorus of affirmitive answers as his crew went to work. The Comm Officer spoke up. "Sir, channel opened!" "Thank you, Ensign. Attention, Unidentified ships, this is Captain Jureel Dartan of the Imperial Star Destroyer Phoenix. Please identify yourselves."
Shy
This just kind of got... out of control. I'm sorry.
"Jabba the Hutt: A New Hope to the Outer Rim" Jabba the Hutt made a lasting impression on the people of the Outer Rim. His forward thinking, natural charisma and exotic roots made him a widely-respected figure to many, and a mysterious legend to others. But for every legend there is a true story, and the major effects one life had on a countless number of people and worlds. Born to a wealthy and notorious family, Jabba was destined to become one of the most influential figures in Outer Rim trade and business. The Hutts and their legendary crime cartel were big during the pioneer days of the Outer Rim, both in power and physically. Young Jabba was brought up into a universe where people were merely possessions. The lack of a proper upbringing from his parents, which is common among the Hutt race, forced him to become fiercely independent, even while following in his parents shadows at an early age. ?I was patrolling the streets of Mos Espa one day when I got an alert from my comlink,? Remembers retired security officer Nailar Vessex, ?There was a robbery taking place in one of the junkyards; my partner and I were the first to arrive on the scene. We got there and were amazed by what we saw. A young Hutt, no more than a few years old attempting to commit armed robbery. I quickly disarmed him before the kid could hurt anyone, but my partner refused to let me arrest him. ??Are you crazy? If we touch the child of a Hutt we won?t make it past tomorrow.? He said to me. With their [the Hutt?s] reputation I agreed, and by giving Jabba a chance I think in some way he was set on the right path.? Initially only dealing in gambling and loan-sharking, he quickly outgrew the ?small-time? operations that his clan was known for. Hutt expanded his enterprise to land development, construction, and farming in the region, which helped boost his fortune as the world?s population grew. Many on the planet felt that he was responsible for his planet?s growth and newfound prosperity, and this resulted in the once-private person becoming a popular public figure. The mighty alien had moved into a position of political and economic power that few others in his own clan, let alone the galaxy, had achieved. For the next chapter in his life, Jabba would look to an even greater power in the universe for help. ?Given the physical limitations of his species, Jabba couldn?t travel throughout the galaxy. Still, he stayed connected to the galaxy through the Holonet,? Said family friend to the Hutts, Arenia Locke, ?He saw that Emperor Palpatine was a man of vision, and that was something I think Jabba could admire.? Using his vast influence on public opinion, Hutt persuaded the People?s Republic of Tatooine to adopt Emperor Palpatine as their sovereign. Citing economic benefits as the primary reason for his faith in the Empire, he helped to negotiate free trade agreement between Tatooine and the Core Worlds. Meanwhile, he established the planet?s independence as one of the many self-governing states which inhabited an area of the Outer Rim commonly referred to as ?Hutt Space.? ?It [Tatooine] is a mix of alien immigrants, criminals and the native people,? Said Outer Rim Sociologist, Abba Used, ?Being an alien, immigrant, and a criminal himself, Jabba could spread the Emperor?s economic message in a way that the common people would accept. At the same time Jabba valued his independence from a strong governmental force, and had a unique relationship with the Empire which suited both of their goals.? Many were suspicious of the Hutt?s political motivations, economy on the planet boomed once it had adopted the Imperial standard of currency and exchange rates. While his fortune grew, so did Jabba himself, and his interest in public life started to fade away as a result. ?Weight was never something to be ashamed of as a Hutt,? Comments Arenia Locke, ?But living that kind of lifestyle and having so much pressure can cause someone to throw their inhibitions away. When you are on top of the world like that, it can be difficult to relate to others. It is sad when someone with so much purpose becomes trapped by their celebrity.? A personal battle with weight was just a small part of the complicated personality that was Jabba the Hutt. In his later years he had formed dangerous addictions to several black market substances, and he used his fortune to provide a never ending party within his walls. In addition to this, he had developed an unhealthy obsession with exotic creatures, hiring mercenaries and big game hunters to track down some of the most ferocious predators in the galaxy and bring them to his isolated desert palace. ?It was all a game with Jabba,? Comments Abba Used, ?He was just looking for a way to keep himself going. It is very common for species with particularly long life-spans, such as the Hutts to develop a fascination with death. By having the money that he did Jabba could take it to the extreme.? His secluded lifestyle led many to believe that Jabba had turned his attention back towards a life of crime. During his later years that he spent away from the spotlight, the growth and economic recovery he had jump-started in the sector had also faded away. Once booming spaceport cities were reduced to simple refueling stations, and exports to the Core Worlds had also suffered greatly. Like many legendary figures, Jabba?s unexpected death is even more sensational than the amazing events of his life. Leia Organa, Imperial fugitive and former senator disguised herself as an alien mercenary and snuck past the compound?s security. There she and a group of fellow criminals launched an assault, although the reasons as to why this attack happened remain uncertain, even today. Many have speculated that it had some connection to the events which had unfolded on Bespin earlier that year. ?My suspicions right away were raised when Boussh [Organa?s alias] had entered Jabba?s palace,? Said Elis Modon, Givin pilot and eyewitness to the scene, ?There was definitely some tension between Jabba the Hutt and Leia; we were all expecting a blaster to be drawn.? At one point Organa revealed that she was carrying an illegal thermal detonator, and threatened to kill everyone in the room if her demands were not met. Hutt?s elite security force had managed to capture former Senator Organa and her associates before anyone else could be injured. With the Imperial fugitives in his posession, Jabba made a decision to surrender them immediately to the Mos Epris Imerial detention center, located nearby. Unfortunately tragedy struck. While attempting to transfer the prisoners, the second wave of Leia?s attack force began their assault. Explosions rocked the hull of his sail barge, killing nearly a dozen civilians within the ship. During the chaos Leia and the other prisoners had escaped, and began to ruthlessly murder everyone on board. Bodyguards were helpless as the threat of fire and blaster bolts quickly spread throughout the small sail barge. Within minutes Jabba and his associates had fallen victim to an attack by the Rebel Alliance. Jabba the Hutt?s body was uncovered days later by a squad of Imperial Sandtroopers; a formal autopsy revealed burns covering over 75% of his body, with the cause of death likely to have been asphyxiation. ?A lot of people these days don?t think of Jabba the Hutt as someone who had a difficult upbringing and brought a new hope to the economy, or even as the brilliant entrepreneur who standardized trade and travel on the planet Tatooine. His early years with the Hutt Cartel, and his murder were just small parts in a long and very memorable life, but people just choose to focus on the negative,? Explains Locke. Even beyond his death, the legacy of Jabba the Hutt continues on the Outer Rim planets he took on as his adopted home. Local politicians carry on his mission to unify the people of the pioneer worlds, and form a strong and independent economy. Jabba?s commitment to the Empire was above all his greatest gift to the people of Tatooine; and those within his sector will feel the effects of that partnership for many years to come.
-Shy
Shinmaru
The Rebel Alliance. The Rebellion. Rebel scum. The Alliance to overthrow the Empire has many different guises, but one constant has remained throughout their existance; the ease with which they associate with seedy groups and individuals, and their willingness to resort to dirty tactics in order to sway opinion in their direction. Indeed, the Rebellion is all too eager to throw their hat in with groups that the Empire has deemed less than satisfactory. Aliens, smugglers, commoners and their ilk; it would seem that the Rebellion is grasping at straws in order to conjure up support for their lost cause. Of course, like any rebellion, they must have some reason, some cause to be up in arms. Curious as to what this could be, I was lucky enough to procure an interview with a recent Rebellion defectee, who wishes to remain nameless. And, of course, my findings based on this interview were not very shocking at all. "Their entire operation is a complete mess," the former Rebel soldier told me. "No matter how many inspirational speeches Mon Mothma decides to give, there are only so many smoke screens that you can throw out before people realize that they're part of a shoddy operation." Records given to me by the defecting Rebel soldier clearly show that the Rebel Alliance is undershipped, undermanned, unequipped and a general mess, despite their cozy relationship with several different alien species and aspiring smugglers. Through further research of my own, I was able to gain further information that is detrimental to the Rebellion's cause. It is known that Senator Bail Organa, one of the original leaders of the Rebel Alliance, was killed on his home planet of Alderaan when it was destroyed by the Empire (a completely fair and just strike, I might add). However, what people do not know is that General Garm Bel Iblis, an influential Rebellion general, has deserted the Rebellion due to repeated clashes with Senator Mon Mothma; if one of the most important figures in the Rebellion cannot find it within himself to stick with them, then why should anyone else? "The Rebellion is soft at the core, as well," says the former Rebel officer. "They'll defend themselves when a strike is upon them, but they lack the spine to launch a true attack of their own. If you ask me, nothing will come of the Rebels obtaining the Death Star layouts." Indeed, it is true that the Rebels, due to the actions of traitorous Bothan spies, were able to obtain layouts to the almighty Death Star space station. However, the question must be asked, what chance does a group of undermanned, ill-equipped, malnourished rebels have against the space station that destroyed Alderaan in one attack? To be frank, they have no chance whatsoever of a successful attack, nor will they ever, even if they were to somehow obtain the equipment, ships and manpower that they so desperately desire. "It's all just a lost cause," the former Rebel leader added. "One must ask themselves why the Rebels even exist. The Empire has been a great boon to many planets, helping the economy grow, and raising the standard of life for many generations to come. I do not think that people could have that same confidence if the Rebellion were in charge of the galaxy." The facts clearly support this statement. Whereas the Empire always has, and always will be, superiorly equipped and ready to supply any planet with the means of protecting themselves, the Rebellion struggles along to keep themselves going. The Rebellion is going through an uphill climb, while the Empire is already coasting safely down the other side. There is no comparison; the Empire is light years ahead of Rebellion, and it will always stay that way. -- Davin Madine
Note: Made up name, combining Crix Madine (who was an Imperial defectee, ironically lol) and Davin Felth, who was an Imperial Stormtrooper who contemplated turning against the Empire and joining the Rebellion. Oh, the ironing is delicious, indeed.
Jokopoko
Though my sample regards IG-88 I'm not sure if I'd be able to play him fully through the RPG but I'd still like to give it a shot ^_^
IG-88, THE GREAT MISTAKE The Droid know as IG-88 was supposed to be the first of a new generation of Law Enforcement Droids but sadly this was never to happen. ?Project Phlutdroid? was carried out by a team of Scientists at Holowan Laboratories, along with Imperial Supervisor Gurdun, and they all were willing to trade off caution for there sense of ambition and recognition during the development of this great new step in Droid Engineering. Taking cues from the Clone wars with examples such as the Trade Federation standard Droid, Droideka as well as the many examples from the Techno Union Army they saw a future where the Stormtroopers had been supplanted by their incredible new machine. One Professor Laving remembers his colleagues and the project. ?I recall telling Shubal that he should abandon a project with so many risks but I was always overridden by that damned Imperial Officer who was always after efficiency, and that is exactly what he got?. Prof. Laving is correct, upon activation of the first proto-type of the series [Codenamed IG-88] the Droid became unstable the minute its C.P.U. was activated IG-88 slaughtered the occupants of the room be they Scientists, Stormtroopers or Imperial Dignitaries. This information is the last official piece of Imperial data regarding IG-88 but the rest has been put together from first hand accounts, security footage which a few among many methods used by this documentary. From what we can tell IG-88 copied and downloaded his consciousness into three identical ?clones? of himself and these all had a letter suffix added to the original IG-88 [A, B, C and D]. The copy most widely known of was the Bounty Hunter IG-88B though we will look into him more. He cannot divulge the sources who gave us this information but it has recently been discovered that the original, IG-88A, was able to take over immense Droid Factory of Mechis III thus he began modifying the programming of all droids produced from that point but for what purpose we do not know. Here is an eyewitness account of IG-88B taking the Bounty of one of his targets, ?It was just so fast, y?know, in one quick movement the droid had broken both of his legs and fractured his jaw bone........[it was] so quick and efficient it was unnerving....I?m glad he didn?t get me that day? As you can see IG-88B carved a trail of blood, money and revenge through the core worlds all the way to the out rim. By the time he was destroyed IG-88B had dispatched over 150 life forms and had a ?dismantle on sight? warrant on him in over 40 star systems. This model meet his end at the hands of Boba Fett, perhaps the most famous Bounty Hunter of all time. After taking the bounty job from Darth Vader IG-88B calculated that Fett would be the one to catch Solo and instead of trying to beat Fett he tailed him to cloud city but Fett got the best of him. The remains were left for the Ugnaughts to pick apart and put to good use. IG-88C heard of this and moved to intercept Fett in orbit of Tatooine in the modified IG-2000. Once Fett arrived he demanded that Fett turn over the cargo or be destroyed but Fett outsmarted the second IG-88 and he was atomised along with IG-2000 once Fett destroyed the ship with concussion missiles. It is reported that IG-88D was destroyed by a smuggler known as Dash Rendar on Ord Mantell but this has never been comfirmed nor has any proof of this been discovered but equally no trace of IG-88D was been found since then. The last surviving model, IG-88A, has recently been reprogrammed by an unknown party to work as a bodyguard for various people put one wild theory has been put forth as to his reasons for re-programming the droids on Mechis III. Noted thinker Ortel Stem has put forth this claim as to IG-88A?s actions. ?It is in my opinion that this megalomaniac of a droid had planned to take control of the Empire by use of the reprogrammed droids from the Mechis III factory, which have been subsequently destroyed.....[some of] you may scorn me for this but look at the evidence; IG-88B being used to draw attention away from the actions of the original while droids were planted throughout the galaxy ready to rise up at his command. And recent survey teams from the Death Star II wreckage has discovered remains of the computer core but it was not the one meant for the Battle station and it appeared to have some form of programming still open. ?The team activated this dormant program and were shocked beyond belief when it began calling itself IG-88 and demanding to be returned to the Death Star II computer core. My fellows this may all be circumstantial evidence but it is a chilling thought that one droid would have been able to do this?. Though the aim of this documentary was to educate the masses to the threat that Battle Droids pose to us it is time to bring this to a close. Many of you may doubt the facts that have been brought up here today but I remind you that every time you see any Droid in the streets it is very possible that Droid could be another IG-88 waiting in the darkness. Thank you and good night.
Gavin
I?m not sure if this is exactly what you want but here goes.
?Kyle Katarn: Jedi, Rebel, Man? ?Few people are truly aware of the influence he?s [Kyle] had on the galaxy? the old Imperial continued unabated in what appeared to be a one sided conversation, ?I knew the day I say Kyle that he was destined for great things?. I watched without interrupting him merely nodding in agreement, men like Captain Brand who?d served The Empire for decades expected nothing less, though with the Rebel?s apparent victory over the Second Death Star I could hear a tremor in his voice. It was one thing to hear such accounts from Rebels who regarded Katarn as something of a legend, but hearing it from an Imperial Captain was something special. He nodded back at me before raising his glass and taking another long sip from it, ?Yeah Katarn was what we used to call a Farm-Boy, guys from some back water world who came here to get a piece of the action?, he coughed roughly before continuing. ?I guess if we really knew our stuff we?d have kept our eyes on guys like him, hell the Rebels have gained some fine men through our mistakes.? Another name popped into my head, that of smuggler and all around scumbag Han Solo, I couldn?t believe that he?d once been an Imperial like Brand. He?d obviously followed the same thought trail as I had because it was the next word out of his mouth ?Solo, I never had the pleasure of meeting him, if you could call it a pleasure?, there was a hint of anger in his last sentence but I couldn?t blame him really. Again Brand took another long sip from his drink, it seemed to help clear out his throat, I considered myself quite lucky to be able to see him, after Endor most Imperials shied away from talking to the media, but it seemed Brand had a soft spot for Katarn. ?When he first arrived on Carida I was in charge of sorting the new recruits out into their squadrons, Kyle stood out at me from the moment I saw him, he was a big guy and had a look to him that just screamed Officer Material, but I guess he followed another path?. Brand was one of the few high ranking Imperials not to have to face a war crimes committee, I had never really seen the point in it, it was a war and they were the commanders just like Madine and Ackbar. Brand was the second last person on my interview list and so far I had some really great stuff on Kyle, I had a good feeling about this interview. ?It wasn?t long until he drew the attraction of the Intelligence Branch, I had wanted to keep him under my wing but sadly they got to him before I did, I never even got to saw good bye to him.? He continued though the mood shifted from one of strictly business to one of a father describing a prodigal son, ?I never believed that we were responsible for the old man?s [Morgan Katarn, Kyle?s father] death, sure we kept tabs on people like him but our guys don?t use lightsabers...? I could see the old Imperial was tired, a guy of his age had probably spent half a century in the Navy, probably didn?t have time for a family either. ?Kyle went AWOL after that, I tried to get in contact with him but Ors convinced him otherwise, heh, she?s a bad influence on him?, Jan Ors the woman who turned Kyle against the Empire, she claimed that it had been Imperials who killed Morgan but even her intel turned out wrong. Katarn?s partner I?ve heard they?re getting married sometime in the future. ?Kyle always had a temper about him, not a bad one, but one that made him determined to win at any cost, he was one of the guys who went on to become big in the Navy, guys like Tarkin?. I could guess by the context of what he was traversing a part of the story that he really didn?t want to go on to, but I pressed on regardless asking him what happened new. ?Well here?s where we get onto the stuff few people know about Kyle, hell it even surprised me when I was briefed on it, yeah Kyle was the one and only ?Ghost of Danuta?. I had heard rumours about that name a few years ago, the ?Ghost of Danuta?, the man who secured the plans to the first Death Star, I was surprised to hear it was Kyle. ?Heh yeah he got away clean and look at the mess that happened after that, Kyle really fell in with the wrong crowd, I can only think what the galaxy would be like if he?d never defected?. The destruction of the first Death Star had been the first in what one could describe as the intricate game which lead to the defeat of the Empire and the ?restoration? of the Republic. The room was quite spacious, not bad for a man who once commanded a Star Destroyer, Brand had chosen to remain on Coruscant after the fall of the Empire though as an old man he was rarely bothered. He drained of the remains of what had been in the glass before neatening his beard, probably out of habit rather than need. Either way it didn?t stop him from continuing with his story. ?He went after Jerec then, a Dark Jedi as they call them, I never got the difference between guys like Vader and guys who called themselves Dark Jedi. Jerec and his band of rogue Jedi had been after some kind of powerful energy nexus, they claimed it would make them the masters of the galaxy, but never counted on Katarn, heh heh I was glad to hear he was the one who dispatched them?. I?d read up as much as I could on Kyle before going on to write this article, his battle against Jerec and his minions was published widely enough for even guys like Brand to know what happened. Seemingly Kyle had gone one some kind of quest and killed each of Jerec?s minions before killing Jerec himself, two Jedi locked in battle, reminded me of the old holovids I?d watch as a child. ?Yeah after Jerec I heard he left the Jedi, felt he touched too close to the Dark Side, went back with Ors just doing mercenary jobs for Mon Mothma, that was until he Desann cross his path, he seems to attract Dark Jedi like Skywalker, another Farm-Boy?. I was well acquainted with what had happened between Kyle and Desann, Desann had been a previous student of Skywalker before going to the Dark Side, seemingly he?d teamed up with Galak Fyyar and the Remnant when they launched that attack on Yavin 4. Again Brand seemed to have read my thoughts ?I never liked Fyyer, no loyalty, being made Admiral was a mistake on our part, but he served his purpose and Kyle saw to him too, yeah Kyle thought that Desann had killed Ors and he decided to make it his mission to make Desann pay...? He trailed off, I?d heard the story a hundred times, from Rebels, Imperials and fellow journalists, Katarn with some help from Skywalker helped to thwart Desann and Fyyer?s plans to take over Yavin 4 and probably the Core given enough time. After defeating Desann I?d heard that Kyle and Jan had decided to take a little break together on Spyra, last I heard that?s where they still were. I got the hint that Brand was getting tired, not of me but just tired, his eyes had a kind of a glazed-over look that came with his age, 78 and still going strong. I decided to wind up the interview and thanked him for his time, men like him had served the Empire and rarely got their credit, ?Do you think Kyle will read the interview ?? They question had kind of come at me from an angle I wasn?t expecting so I wasn?t sure how to answer him, it was obvious Brand missed Kyle a great deal and would probably love to hear from him, Morgan may have been Kyle?s true father but Brand certainly fitted the role just as well. As I departed I told him that I?d tell Katarn to pay him a visit if I ever saw him, he nodded cheerfully before I left. Men like Brand came around far too few in number, perhaps I?d do an article on him some time. ?This has been Selik Garn, Good night? , I yawned as the camera from the holovid died and I stepped off the platform I?d just given my interview from. It had been an interesting night...
Brasil
Just hyperspace jumping in here to thank those who already Signed-up, and to let everyone know that Sign-ups are still open. Boba Fett
Things like these are always fun to write.
Welcome to tonight?s edition of the Imperial Evening News, where our top story tonight is one of tragedy. As you no doubt have heard rumors, an Imperial vessel was hijacked today while passing through the Alderaan system. It was the Emperor?s newest and most promising prototype of the new Lifestar class ore extractors. These gargantuan ships were designed by top Imperial Scientist Bevel Lemelisk to harvest ore from deep inside large asteroids and uninhabited planetoids, to assist with the current durasteel shortage. Unfortunately, a heavily armed terrorist commando team was able to infiltrate the station and hold it?s population hostage, most of which is made up of the mine workers and their families. A task force of Star Destroyers lead by Darth Vader was launched to attempt mediation, but the fleet arrived to unthinkable horrors. Today, at an indeterminate time, the peaceful beacon of hope to the galaxy known as Alderaan was obliterated by rebel terrorists utilizing the mining laser of the Lifestar. Search parties were immediately launched to find the station before it could do any more harm. Hours later, an Imperial probe droid spotted massive quantities of debris in the Yavin system. Further inspection revealed a secret rebellion base in the area, which has recently been abandoned. For analysis, we bring you now to our reporter Thom Carn on the boot camp planet of Caridia. Thom: ?I?m here with the leader of the galaxy?s finest hostage rescue team, the Storm Commandoes. Colonel Madine, what do you make of the destruction of the Lifestar in the Yavin system?? Colonel Madine: ?It?s appalling that the Rebellion would attack civilian targets and obliterate a peaceful world. However, it?s clear that when the crew of the station found out what their captors had done through their holonet connections, they began to resist. When the rebels tried to bring the station back to their base, the crew attacked their captors and the fanatical rebels destroyed the station. We all owe an immense debt of gratitude to those citizens who sacrificed themselves so that there would be no more Alderaans.? Thom: ?Powerful words. Now back to the news desk? The Emperor himself has placed a reward of one hundred million credits for information leading to the capture of rebel terrorist leaders suspected of masterminding the attacks. Unscrupulous and well known terrorist Leia Organa, Imperial fugitive Han Solo, escaped Wookiee slave Chewbacca, an as of yet unidentified teenager and two stolen Imperial droids are all wanted in connection with these attacks. If you know anything about this attack or the whereabouts of the previously mentioned suspects, please relay that information to your local Stormtrooper battalion headquarters. So, Sign-ups are now closed. The following members have been accepted into Rebel Scum: Shy Shinmaru Kane Boba Fett I most likely will be also posting in the RPG, in addition to guiding it along. To those of you who did not get accepted, thank you for applying. There were some really tough decisions I had to make. I was really on the fence for some of you, because your sign-ups are great, and would have gotten you in, but post histories are also an indication of dedication, and I don't want anyone to drop out. Again, I thank all those who came out and tried, and time permitting, expect to see Star Wars: Rebel Scum launching into a galaxy near you sometime late next week. Drix D'Zanth
Long overdue, I know... I hope you enjoy it, Alex. Taming the Wild Planet: the story of Kashyyyk Datapad courtesy Imperial Communications and Propaganda agent Miaan Horrel The universe?s expanse of matter and vacuum will forever remain only fractionally explored. Even our own galaxy, though mapped out and inhabited by a myriad of known systems, remains wild in its fringes. The culture and compassion of a civilized existence can be refused in favor of rampant disorder and chaos due to isolation. Quite often, the beneficial and welcoming hands of the Emperor?s attempt at creating a semblance of order on such worlds are violently opposed by the inhabitants. This refusal towards Galactic Unity has is ever striking in the more recent organizations of such rebellion, claiming the banner of the Old Republic, malevolently clinging to that destructive era of retrogression. [Imperial Center glitters under the sleepless watch and protection of the Emperor] A newer hope remained with the ascension of a new, benevolent leader in Palpatine. His sweeping reforms have simultaneously brought species together under a single, unified government. He has also spread vast improvements in the overall quality and production of every world, so that each may serve in turn to progress the galaxy as a whole. Imperial reconstruction has been spearheaded into worlds long wrapped in the toil of civil strife or isolation from trade and communication. One such world to fall under the philanthropic process is that of Kashyyyk The history of Kashyyyk is as brutal as the organisms that inhabit it. The surface?s only sentient species, the Wookiee, lived in a constant state of tribal conflict. Leading xenosociologists link the reliance to a predatory diet and primitive language system to create an unusual chasm between members of the same species. Family groups tended to be established in the blood of a fallen clan within the towering canopies of the famed Wroshyr tree. The violence was only exacerbated by the dangerous ?underforest?. As one travels deeper into the lower forest ecological levels the more dangerous organisms are encountered. Juvenile Wookiees often sacrificed themselves in a bizarre ritual that usually involved the attempted destruction or capture of a mature Katarn; a deadly creature that has been recorded to lengths of 3 meters, able to traverse the undergrowth of Wroshyr with liquid grace. Kashyyyk is not a world untouched, however. The planet shares the same sun as nearby Trandosha (Hsskor) inhabited by the intelligent and enterprising Trandoshan species. The Old Republic continuously underestimated the enduring efforts of the Trandoshan race to spread economic stability and order to the system. Often, their attempts at colonizing surrounding worlds were vehemently opposed by senators choosing to stagnate in positions of stoic power. Commonly, peaceful trandoshan settlers would have to protect themselves in unfortunate hostilities against the fiercely territorial indigenous species. Vssk D?oth, respected chair of Gallvor Labor Solutions comments on the violent history between Wookiee and Trandoshan, ?Our settlers would enter the world and attempt to establish contact with the Wookiees. Often our diplomats would return horribly disfigured or not at all. It was unmitigated rage, as if these seemingly sentient creatures could dwell in fascinatingly complex dwellings, yet were incapable of contentment or peace.? The Imperial reconstructive effort was expanding widely during this period, claiming the peaceful establishment of imperialized government and galactic trade far into the outer rim. The Emperor?s attention was drawn to Kashyyyk and the struggle for symbiotic existence between the worlds of the system. As initial Imperial science and exploratory teams descended to the planetary surface the staggeringly dangerous reality became evident. Major Bol Halesk comments and datapads are still available for civilian access in any holonet library. ?It was apparent that the Wookiees maintained the same impression of our exploration of their world with the same disdain reserved for the previous Trandoshan settlers. They sent war parties towards our scientific crews with seeming remorselessness. If it weren?t for the stormtrooper escorts, decent men serving the Empire would not be here to share their gift with the rest of us.? He also recorded the Wookiees dramatic change as they fell unto their own ?employment?. ?Wookiees commonly use serrated blades, as long as a Bothan?s arm. They also used a primitive, but effective energy weapon we dubbed the ?bowcaster? as its shape resembled early slug-throwers used back in the era of Xin the Despot. Soon after our landing, it appeared that the Wookiee armament continued to expand. Suddenly research squads were disappearing with noticeable blaster fire around the battle sites. A dead Wookie was found with the possession of a Blastech DH-17?. The weapon, most commonly arming militias or various paramilitary groups, was found to have an identity code verifying it?s production facilities (Karam IV) as one owned by the now-infamous Rebellion. The alarming news was top priority, as the implication of rebel activity on the resource-rich world grew. The Imperial Navy responded by blockading the system shortly after in an attempt to halt any weapon trading. This stimulated an immediate exodus of many foolhardy Wookiees attempting to escape the imminent Imperial justice. The effort was in vain, only revealing more substantial evidence to the collaboration with the Rebel agents. A new government was established in wake of Imperial occupation. The Trandoshan industries, finally recognized for their continual commitment to progress were given control of the subsidiary government and industrial responsibility with the world resources. [Stormtrooper garrisons now maintain peace and order on Kashyyyk] The Emperor extended unprecedented mercy to the continually defiant Wookies. In an act of magnanimously immense proportion, the indigenous species were spared the long stay within imperial detention centers. Instead, Imperial labor advisors working with stormtrooper garrisons selected individual Wookiees unwilling to accept the generous prospect of civilization. From Kashyyk, the Wookies would be transported to educational facilities and industrial shipyards, where they could further the Imperial effort and return prosperity to their families back home. This reformation process is slow and difficult, but the Emperor has confidence that the Wookiees will soon come to understand and appreciate order through moderate labor.?Our production has improved twenty-fold with the addition of Wookiees to the labor force. They work hard when they want to, and their strength is exceptional. I?ve personally been able to speak with several of their species with the assistance of translator droids and they are overwhelmingly appreciative of the opportunities the Emperor has granted them,? Kuat Drive Yards envoy Jodin Sarte explained, ?Kashyyyk is a true testament to the Emperor?s continual expansion and improvement of our current Galactic state.? Yes, even today the towering Wroshyr trees are no longer associated with the twisting chaos of an untamed world, but as pillars of order and stability. The emerald planet, free from insurgencies and civil strife may now contribute to the galaxy; falling within the fold of amelioration under the careful guidance of Emperor Palpatine.
