Doukeshi
Hey guys, what do you folks think about staying at home for university. I am myself, and I was great about it, 'cause personnaly I don't so well when I'm away from home. Anyway, at the moment I'm kinda freaking out. I feel like people view me as an outsider and I should be in the thick of it, all partying and so on...even though I don't want to be.
Harry
It's generally a good idea to live in a dorm. It's easier to get new friends this way. If you can't afford it, then don't go out of your way but I would do it if you have the option. Unless you're just really outgoing.
Panda
Both have their benefits and disadvantages. Been there, done that. It really depends on your personality type and what would be the best for your learning environment. Yes, the social part of college is fun, but your education is the number one priority. Living at home while going to college is great since you don't have to pay for your housing. I did this for a couple of years and it really helped. I don't have any college loans to pay back since all the money I earned while working went to pay for my classes and supplies instead of housing. I still went out with friends I made in classes for study groups and parties so I didn't feel like I was missing out on anything. Another advantage was having the peace and quiet...no distractions...when trying to get projects done. Living in the dorms or on campus gives you a chance to meet plenty of other people and socialize. It gives you a sense of independence living away from the folks and let's you have more control over your schedule. Most parents probably won't like their kid coming home at 3am after a weekend party. ;) Living on campus also gives you a life experience that helps you deal with many different people and personality types. Much like the real world. Weigh the options and do what you think is best. I wish you the best of luck at university!
Sara
I've been at college for about a week and a half now. It's really different from living at home. It's not really weird unless I think about it, heh. I haven't done any partying, heh. My dorm has to be the most study-tastic place I've ever been. It's amazing. Baron Samedi
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't being strapped for cash and working 5 different fast-food jobs all part of the magnificent world of college? You're missing half the fun by staying at home.

I am most definitely not the part type, however living on campus my first year didn't seem to bother me because I politely excused myself from all of that. No one will hate you. Well, UCF isn't a huge party college in my opinion, but it may be because I am entirely out of the loop. However, living at home is best if you love your family and they don't get on your nerves. My first year I would have loved to move home and give up because I simply was so lonely and missed my house/mom/animals, etc. However, now that we have a second home here, when my mom comes to visit me for a couple days I'm ready to pull all of my hair out. It feels so strange thinking this way when just a year ago I'd love for her to stay with me for a long time or me to come home. It is a little hard to party and have people come over when you live at home, though. If you get a girlfriend or boyfriend it may be a little more convenient (privacy wise) to live alone or even in a dorm, where your roomie will dissapear for a bit. Anyway, in conclusion, living at home is cool because your 'rents will go easy on you when it comes to living expenses and you're comfortable in your own house.
