Well really I'm just happy that its coming out. Advent children is a big tease because I wish that it was a game and not a movie. The movie looks really cool and all, but I'd rather be able to play it and see the CGI as cut scenes. Then they release a Turks based game but only on cell phones! Urghh!

So this is in a way what we all have wanted, a FF7 game based off a cool character from the series. He's got guns and can turn into monsters so that if done right are cool gameplay options. I think it'll be good, but the reviews will let us know. In the mean time I'll be waiting for more screen captures.

Now that you've mentioned it, how will they incorporate that ability into the game? Will it be like Rue's in Threads of Fate/Dew Prism or Dante's Devil Trigger? Or will they come up with some totally innovative system?

Is that screenshot of Cait Sith for real? What a teaser!

Love and Peace! :love2:

I thought id just add that one of the things viewed in the very brief trailer of dirge at the tokyo game show was cait sith...I found that interesting that to my knowledge hes the only FF7 character that isnt appearing in the Advent Children. I wonder what that means?

New information has been released, via the Tokyo Game Show. It's been confirmed that it's an action game, but the violent group Vincent is battling is known as 'Deep Groud', not Dirge of Cerebus as earlier thought.

A few characters are said to return apart from Vincent, but only Cait Sith has been confirmed. Strangely enough, a few FFIX characters will also be making an appearance. A few new screens have been released too.

FFIX cameos are always a good thing in my book. Has anything specific been said about which characters will show up? Personally, I'm hoping for Beatrix and Dagger, but I certainly wouldn't mind seeing Zidane again.

At this point Square is practically turning into CLAMP--although as someone who gets a huge kick out of crossovers, I'm not exactly in the best position to complain.

These cameos only further my fear that this is going to be a more action-themed Kingdom Hearts styled game. As I've said before, the current screens give the very strong impression that they're running on the same graphical engine. I just hope the gameplay is adjusted.

I'm not big on cameos unless they're short and sweet or particularly well done. As long as none of these unrelated characters don't have a huge bearing on the development of the story, I'm cool.

Anyway, I'm glad other people have been adding news from Square-Enix to this thread, because, quite honestly, I've never had any interest in this game since I first posted it lol.

I haven't been keeping up with the game, either, so I don't really know much about who and what will be in it. Anyway, since there are cameos, I think that if this game was in the format of a typical RPG turn-based battle system, it still wouldn't work. When there are cameo characters who make appearences in those styles of games and are playable characters, they're usually pulled off poorly, mainly because they weren't incorporated well enough to fit in the battles to begin with.

On the other hand, whether or not they effect the story, I couldn't care less.
IMO i think they are killing the series with this i mean AC is aweosme and all, just a FF& game without cloud isnt FF& its pointless
It isn't about building an FF7 sequel, it's about expanding on the wildly popular world that made for FF7.

Personally, I think they've done the right thing in not using Cloud, because by the end of FF7 his character was so thoroughly explored to make a sequel about him would be pointless. By choosing a popular yet not very explored character [Vincent] they've given the game a much better potential than if they had stuck with Cloud.

I read through all the posts but couldn't find anything on the updates being done for the American version of Dirge of Cerberus.

Well apparently when the game was released in Japan the gameplay was...not so good, but hopefully that's gonna be changed for our version cause they are giving the game a big overhaul.

Vincent's been given new moves like a double jump, dash move and the like. He's also faster than in the Japanese version which should be more fun I guess. The online play mode has been sacrificed but there are now 40 single player missions based on the online missions to unlock.

Then you have the unlockable material like songs and character models and such. I'm really looking forward to this game and am really glad it's starring Vincent and not Cloud. Cloud as cool as he is has had enough time in the spotlight.

Oh and people are mentioning Vincent being a rip off of Dante, wouldn't it be the other way around if anything? I mean Vincent was around first right?

I was worried no one actually made a post on this game but then I thought I'll dust off the ol' search engine and give it a whirl and sure enough here it is.

What I am now surprised is that the game has been out now for a few weeks or so or more Oo and no one has said anything about it. Well you know what? get those frying pans ready because the chef is going to bake a cake of whoop a** (Not really)

First off. I enjoyed the game, had trouble with the camera angles and not to mention the targetting a bit.

Vincent's story was very interesting, I loved the reference to his limit, Chaos.
Born of terra currupt. Behold Chaos, Omega's squire to the lofty heavens.
With that said I found the story very refreshing and explaining Vincent's attitude. I mean this guy has gone through alot.

It was great to have cloud and the others make guest appearances and not to mention finally hear Barret speak that voodoo that he do so well (Yes I know that isnt the right way to say it)

Vincent was a bad a** and I loved it. Ill post a more detailed thought of the game later since I am in class and it is going to be ending soon.

I just beat the game yesterday, and I have to honestly say that it was an awesome game. From beggining to end, it never bored me and there was plenty to do to keep my captivated. It boggles my mind really how so many people can judge it so harshly based on elements of the game they disliked, that aren't really present. It just seems like more people are upset with the choice of genre another FF7 game was made as that they just tried to dig for any negative comment they could give it.

It isn't redundant in terms of stage design, which is one complaint i've continually heard. That to me, is unfounded as there are many different places that offer much more than just a straight hallway of the same enemies like a police department shooting gallery. The stages were versatile while keeping a linear path so the difficulty wasn't terrible. By no mean means am i claiming this was a challenging game but i have yet to play it on hard mode.

The controls take some getting used to, actually a lot of getting used to but that is hardly grounds to claim this game isn't worth playing. The new characters were great, the Tsviets are a great addition and the battles against them
(perhaps minus Azul's fights)
are pretty fun, and keep you on your toes for the most of it. The storyline was also great, it was detailed and deep and for Vincent fans it's a must see regardless.

For FF7 fans, it is also just simply worth it seeing all the character models and the voice overs in this evolved state. It was a lot of fun and really more about crowd pleasing than anything else. It's not a game of the year candidate nor is it one of the best shooting games i've ever played, but taking it for what it is, it was an excellent game, and a lot of fun to play.
