wrist cutter
America was built upon the basis of Religious freedom. Puritans broke away from the corrupt Church of England to create their own sanctuary of free will. To believe that your faith is the[/b'] faith is to perpetuate the ignorance which has plagued generations upon generations of your so called 'faithful'. If you truly believe in God, you would understand that all judgement comes from one mouth, His, and that your only responsibility on earth is to maintain your own good standing, not to condemn those with whom you disagree for you own blinded reasons. That in mind, hypocrisy entangles you.
Here's where you took a wrong turn. You are free to believe whatever you want in this country. And you are free to say whatever you want. But you can't go acting like someone is infringing upon your rights when they say you can't call yourself this or that, because THAT is their right too as a citizen. What Midnight Rush was saying, originally, had a good point. "If you are, and I'm not asking you to, going to believe TRULY in Christianity, then you believe that your faith is the ONLY faith. Combining universal floating point liberalism with Christianity, Islam, Judaism, or Hindu is a total perversion of what these faiths teach." What he's saying is: either you believe in Christianity or you don't. You can take from some of its teachings and form your own philosophy/religion, but by calling it "Christianity", you're twisting the word. Understandably some Christians will get upset. So either you're a Christian or you aren't... you can't be "Christian and Buddhist" or any other combination. You're either in or you're out. "Interesting how these people who see themselves as rightious Christine people immediately call any other religion a tool of Satan." In the Christian faith they are indeed tools of Satan. Because as I said you're either in or you're out; there's no middle road. Do I need to talk about the broad and narrow paths? "Though it may show they have a lot of faith, it also shows their own close-mindedness." You're throwing out buzzwords. It's not close-mindedness, it's simply the fact that if you're not IN you're OUT and in Christianity that is the whole basis. To ignore that so you can please everyone, you no longer are a Christian. Again, there isn't a middle option. "Can they not even consider for one moment that there is more to religion in general than their own beliefs?" They know it exists, but they have found their 'truth' and they are sticking to it. To open up to ideas from other religions would be to leave the Christian religion altogether. Again, in, or out. "Christianity was certainly not the first religion, and it's deffinately no more or less valid than any other." Correct. "You could use the phrase "It doesn't matter what kind of faith you have, as long as you have faith."" I don't think God would feel the same way. "No offense but I think it's a little obserred to believe that a man who DIED can come back whenever he likes! It makes no sense!" Then don't believe it and shut up. Goodness. "Plus we dont damn ourselves!" Yes, you do, from a Christian perspective. You have chosen to go against God, and have thus damned yourself. In or out, and you're out. But hey, why not just make up your own religion where anyone who doesn't follow it is damned to HFIL? Then you can go around thinking everyone is damned too. "How do u know if you're going to heaven or hell?" Nobody knows, and hopefully nobody is claiming to. "Just because you are a "chrstian" doesn't mean your going to a great place after death! You have NO way of saying where you're going to or not going to go!!!!!!!!!!" Precisely. No one was indicating otherwise. But in the Christian faith it's either Heaven or Hell. "Fork your God because there is no God, never was a God and will never be a God. And there's nothing insecure about me. Insecure people are the ones who contrive fables to live by." Take back what you said before about "freedom of religion", huh? Even though this doesn't actually violate anyone's rights, it does by your earlier definition. "How in the hell did I prove your point? I felt offended by your respond so I answered with anger! what do you expect????" Just because you're offended doesn't mean you need to be angry. There are other ways to go about these things, you know. "How do you know if adam and eve or the garden of whatever is true? you weren't there?" That's why it's called "faith". " ALSO! WHICH ONE IS GOD????? GOD OR JESUS? YOU'VE JUST SCREWED YOURSELF BECAUSE YOU REFERED THEM TO BE THE SAME PERSON WHENCE FORTH YOUR BIBLE SAYS THEY R TWO DIFFERENT PEOPLE!" It's called Trinity. Sara
I am going to say this once, and once only. No matter your beliefs, personal feelings, level of anger, or any other factor, there is no excuse for flaming other people on this board. LizerisCnh and InuyashaLvr, please consider yourselves warned. Midnight Rush, keep in mind that the thread is about Wicca, and while I understand that thhe subject of Christianity came up (as it was certainly bound to do), we do try to keep things on topic here. You are no longer relating things or explaining things in relation to Wicca, you are condemning people, and that is not necessary here. InuyashaLvr and LizerisCnh, it's understandible that you're frustrated with the teachings of Christianity, especially regarding its "close-mindedness" and "hypocrisy." Please both be sure to read wrist cutter's post. I believe it explains things very well. You can believe whatever you wish or desire to believe. Christianity has a certain set of teachings, however, and you cannot ask Christians to alter the basics of their beliefs. In doing so, they would no longer be "Christian." In the Christian faith, other religions are, indeed "tools of Satan." In the Christian faith, those who are not Christian do "condemn themselves." Since you do not believe these things (and no one is asking you to), it means nothing more than that you do not agree with or follow Christianity. You do not need to become angry or irate over any of this. If someone is angering you, sometimes you just have to take the higher road and calm down. Having said that, I would really like to be able to leave this thread open. However, I think the odds of it getting back on track are slim to nil, especially with the high emotions running through here. I will leave you with this: MysticKnight, this is not the best place to look for information on Wicca. If you wish to learn more, I suggest you find a more reliable resource. To the calm, coherent members who posted here, thank you. To those who felt the need to antagonize others, grow up and shape up. That behavior is not tolerated here, and if it is noticed again, you will be banned. If anyone has anything else to say to anyone, I suggest you take it to the PM system. Be civil.
