Meggido
Hey. According to a friend of mine, there was once truth to the the rumour that a Golden Sun 3 and 4 were to be made, one of which would be for GCN. He also told me that an anouncement was made that they were no longer in production and would not be made. I don't know if Golden Sun 3 and 4 had once been announced and I want to know if there is truth to my friend's story? I never thought there would be a Golden Sun 3 or 4 released though the idea did seem good and I've wanted to see a Gamecube version since playing Golden Sun 2 . Can someone help me out here? Desbreko
I remember hearing rumors quite a while back about a Golden Sun game being developed for the GCN, but I don't think it was ever officially announced. I think that was back before Golden Sun 2 had been released, and there were rumors about there being both GBA and GCN versions of the game, or something like that. I didn't really pay much attention to it, though, so I could be wrong.
BlueYoshi
I heard that rumour a while ago, too, but I wasn't having any of it. Personally, I'd love to see Golden Sun hit the GameCube. The two GBA releases have so much potential in terms of putting the system's upgrades to use, as proved by the really cool summon spells, so a GameCube release would be pretty exciting... just so as long as it doesn't turn out to be like the first game. :D Planet GameCube had an interview about a new Golden Sun game a while back with Camelot, though the conversation mainly revolved around the possibilities for the future. It's worth reading, anyway. Click me.
Gavin
I heard similar rumours a while ago though like Wingnut here I was rather sceptical about it, I was a massive fan of the first Golden Sun game, though I never got around to play the second. But the thought of a Gamecube version of such an excellent RPG had me foaming at the mouth. To be honest though I'm not expecting anything to come of the rumours, at least not in the near future, if there was to be a Gamecube version of Golden Sun Nintendo would be shouting it from the roof tops.
Semjaza
I don't know what there is to be skeptical about when Camelot has shown interest in continuing the series. The GCN thing was beyond simply a rumor. As it is, there was never even a Golden Sun 2. Lost Age doesn't have 2 in it for a reason. Both of those games were originally one title and Camelot had to break them up because it was getting far too large.
Meggido
To my knowledge it was Camelot who anounced that they were no longer going to consider making a third and fourth addition to Golden Sun. What I would like to see though is a prequel where they explain why the elemental stars were removed from the lighthouses. They don't really need a sequel unless it is a completely new game with a new storyline and new characters.
Beorhun
I have heard whispers of at least a new one coming out soon. I'm not sure if its on the GCN, I really have only heard sparing bits about it from one of my friends. I think it would serve well to be on the DS, but that's my opinion. You see, if it were on the gamecube, it would be just another RPG in gamecube's small but growing library of RPGs. Part of the greatness of Golden Sun was that it was amazing that so much game could be in such a small cartridge. My only real problem with it is how are they going to continue the story? Lost Age pretty much wrapped everything up, unless it won't be related to the story arc of Golden Sun and Lost Age. BTW, this is mostly speculation and my own personal thoughts about what would be good in the new games. Sorry if this isn't a very good post because of that. Ellerby
I never heard anything about a Golden Sun 3 or 4. Not any rumours, gossip, whatever.. none. As cool as it would be I don't think it'll happen. Especially not for GCN. To tell you the truth, I think the idea of Golden Sun for Gamecube is stupid. That would be so hard to play, think of Golden Sun 1/2 and try to make that into a Gamecube game. I couldn't do it. Would it be first-person? Third-person? I guess it could work but I dunno, I can't see it happening.
Semjaza
If anyone wants to claim something right out one way or another, they're going to have to post a news story stating such. I've never heard of Camelot saying they weren't going to continue the series at all. Not saying they haven't, but I'd some sort of proof. I have heard the GC rumor, however. I'm not sure where it started, but it is quite old. Camelot had plans for some sort of RPG for the GameCube. They right out said that (you can read it here: http://cube.ign.com/articles/089/089795p1.html) I think, for the most part, it was just assumed to be Golden Sun and never actually confirmed or stated. Even the article I link to attempts to make the connection despite ANY evidence. Nothing has come of it as of right now and it's been over three years since that interview. However, IGNCube still has "TBA 2005 Camelot RPG Nintendo RPG" on their release list. What furthered the rumor was awhile back when the Iclandic Nintendo site put it on their release list. Nintendo fans somehow manage to find out about anything on any random site about Nintendo-related games, so people caught wind of it. It was taken down and I really see little reason to put any stock in it.
To tell you the truth, I think the idea of Golden Sun for Gamecube is stupid. A third person, 3D RPG: just like almost every other RPG in existance... lol
Meggido
If your looking at a way for them to transform Golden Sun to GCN, think Final Fantasy X and expand on that. The only thing i would hope for is that they make it a new story rather than regurgitating the GBA story even though it is extremely good.
BlueYoshi
I thought the GBA Golden Sun games were lacking in a few areas, particularly the battle system. The one thing that was supposed to make them any more interesting (the Djinni) didn't really appeal to me, and were somewhat thin. But when you look at it realistically, people who say that they want a new Golden Sun game to be released, and claim that the only place where there's room for improvement is the storyline, then I start to get tense. If a Golden Sun game is released for the GameCube, the area that I'd feel needs the most attention would be the battles. Something as vague as the current system on the GBA games wouldn't urge me to buy it, especially since the GameCube is far more capable. In that case, I'd much rather carry on playing the games on my SP, so something new should definitely be in order for a GameCube release.
