Guest ScirosDarkblade
And I, for one, have a certain amount of dislike for most American comics, (Superman, Batman, etc.) mostly because they portray everyone in thier own 'perfection' through the artist's eyes.(As CrimsonDreamer said.) Nothing against the comix themselves, just sayin' there's enough in this world to make people feel self-concious and those kinds of art styles don't help.[/SIZE']
I can say the same thing about anime when it comes to girls, though. They're always cute or hot and have more-than-ideal figures. Maybe people don't realize this, but the bishounen and shoujo that anime portrays is, to the Japanese, an ideal sort of appearance. You can't go on cup size or muscle mass alone, haha.
Halo102
Have you every read Peach Girl by Miwa Ueda? In that theres a very chunky, not incredible looking character. Yet the slim, tanned, big eyed beuty main character momo finds that one of her love intrests is still hanging on for the chunky chick because she has a wonderful personality. I know thats just as cliche in its own way but it proves my point.

Yet the generalizations remain valid on both sides, and it is because they are valid that people have issues with comics from either side of the Pacific. Guest Ilovefluffy
Yeahh I've readd Peach girl but to me it's alittle scary don't you think. I know momo is the main charcter but I think the story falls more on Toji. Strangely I find some manga guys cute so he is just there to me. Any one else think some anime or manga guys are cute ( or girls )? Comon be open minded. I am  Please try and keep replies to the topic at hand. KarmaOfChaos
Going back to what someone said earlier, I draw a lot of true 'manga' because of the enjoyment it gives other people. Often times, a (humorous) real life situation that happened with myself and/or a couple of my friends will inspire a short manga out of me, exaggerating the story for the amusement of others and adding lots of random strangeness. (Like floating cereal boxes.) As for stand-alone artwork...that's an entirely different story. I find that while my stand-alone art is anime and manga-influenced, it also contains a lot of elements of surreal and symbolic artwork (see: Kahlo and Dali) as well as more true-to-life humans. Most of this is done because I need to get emotions out, and art happens to be one of my favorite mediums for doing so. I tend to be quite reluctant to share these pieces with lots of people. -Karma PS: As for the whole 'manga-is-easy' arguement...I think that if you have some artistic ability to begin with, imitation of certain styles is easy, but coming up with your own style, or imitating the style of say Angel Sanctuary (and doing it well) is much more difficult. There's also a lot of tedious attention to detail, which is by no means easy.
LPpunkrocka
I draw manga because, well, I liked reading it, and I draw pretty good, and I'm one of those people ho gets ideas pretty easily, so I created my own without a problem. And also, because my friends in high school had talked me into it, because they thought I could come up with something cool. That's all.
Excel
I draw manga cause is my way of expressing myself with no boundries. Its the only thing in my life that I have full control at where no one is telling me what to do and how to do it. Its the time that i feel most peacefull when im drawing manga and I love it and im never giving it up. I dont care that i may have talent or may have not have talent I just go out there and do it.
StormWind
Why do I draw Manga? Why do I draw Manga? I'll tell you why I draw Manga, after a few notes. Well, first off, I may repeat what many of you have said or thought, but this is just how I see it. Here goes nothing.. I draw Manga because it is how I express myself. Emotions and feelings I think are best portrayed in Manga or Anime drawings. You know, that glint in their eyes, and just the shape of their mouth, etc... Well, I read a lot of 'because I like tos' and 'I like to read it'. Believe it or not, I was drawing it before I started reading it. It is how I can put my feelings and ideas onto paper, so it is not lost within that mess inside my head. Also, for those of you who say that you like to draw Manga because its easy and you can, wrong! In no way is good Manga that people actually want to see and praise easy. Sure, maybe you think that drawing your favorite characters from say InuYasha or King of Hell might be easy, but if this thought is yours, then you are sorely mistaken. InuYasha characters have small details that many seem to miss. The main lines, if not placed within at least the general vicinity, make it look careless. King of Hell on the other hand, is one of the toughest I have come across. The lines are so intricate and there are details everywhere, it is difficult. What makes drawing Manga and Anime characters so difficult, knowing how to use any basic shapes to fill in at the start of the drawing, and working off of that. Just drawing a few lines to make the picture, no. The lines usually come out distorted and make the picture look like its been stretched. Anyways-I just don't want to hear that it is easy. But, I hope you just get my point. Thanks!
Subaru-sama
Why... do I draw manga? I draw manga because it is a fun thing to do, and really passes the time away. I also draw it because it happens to be one of my only talents. :p And I, sadly enough, really appreciate the praise. But sometimes, it can be quite annoying. :( It is also a great way of expressing myself. If I'm angry at my teacher, I can draw me stabbing him with a pencil in manga style. :o I usually get alot of ideas, and sometimes I get so many ideas and forget about them. Cosplayers inspire me, as well. :
XcXChezaXcX
I draw manga because it's something I can lose myself in, like a good book. I also like to draw because when I'm really depressed or really happy I can draw something that expresses how I feel. The one down side to drawing according to my emotions is that my pictures offend some people. I don't draw anything too obscene, but I guess I just can't please everybody. :p
Guest DementiaWarrior
Hmm, well this is my first post here, and its going to show. I draw manga because it is the one subject that I gain satisifaction from both during and after going, unlike video games. I used to draw all the time as a young child, and then gave up because American comics were too difficult for me to even attempt to emulate. But, its been roughly a month since I picked up drawing Manga, after years upon years of reading it, and its the most rewarding thing I've ever done. I'm still at the lowest skill level, I can look a picture, and copy it very well, but it always ends up somewhat larger then the picture I was trying to draw. I'm hoping with some practice I'll be able to draw my own style...
You Don't Care
This is a really simple one! Stangely enough, for my entire life, my dreams actually look like something animated straight from Japan. Even more weird, I didn't even know what anime was or looked like until I rented my first DBZ video from Video Update (10 years ago Volume 1 of the Saiyan Saga. An excellent start I would say so myself!) When I first saw it, I was like "OMFG! This is exactly what my dreams look like!" My dad replies, "You mean you dream about hollering, porcupine-haired people and green bean men?" Seriously, that's what he said!!! Anyway, I had a huge imagination and I didn't know how to "draw it out" to show others. And seeing Manga and Anime, I had figured out my calling in life... DRAW THE FRIGGIN' MANGA!!!
