Chapter The First: The War of the Immortals


In the alternate dimension of Velour Fog, a world very similar to Earth exists. However, some noteable differences exist: On Earth, for example, a door always leads to the same place, but in Velour Fog, a door can go anywhere. No one can control where they go when they go through a door, so travel can become inconvienient.

Another difference is that phone numbers, street addresses, e-mail addresses, and AIM Handles are randomly redistributed on a bi-hourly basis. These changes can be predicted, although with limited accuracy.

While God created Earth, and its universe, the dimension of Velour Fog was created by the Random Number Generator (RNG from here on out). Other than the very fabric of the souls of its inhabitants, NOTHING is stable. The RNG is predictably unpredictable in its dealings with its creations. The RNG is believed to be (somewhat) controlled by a malevolent entity conducting social experiments on Velour Fog.

It may decide to quadruple your bank account, or change all of your shirts to pink tube tops.... one NEVER knows. And that is the back drop of our story. There is no stability, ANYTHING can happen. Anything.

Cities disappear and reappear RANDOMLY, islands and continents move to radically different locations overnight. The denizens of Velour Fog have conditioned themselves to such a life.

Only one thing can be counted upon in Velour Fog: The RNG Cannot directly kill anyone. It may generate a situation unfavorable to someone's life, but it can't KILL you itself.

This story is about a few specific random people that live in Velour Fog. They range from gunslinging tech savvy samurai to schoolgirl construction workers sporting golf bags.... and everything in between.

This story chronicles how they discover the RNG, and work towards creating a stable world for the people of Velour Fog. Of how they can find it in themselves to defeat the power of Chaos Mathematics. Of how the human heart, soul, and spirit endures the power of numbers and triumphs when all looks grim.
