I have a problem, and it's a very confusing problem.

I can draw anime very well, but I can't seem to draw my own origanle art. It's not lack of inspiration cause I have way to many ideas. I just can't seem to get them on paper. I drew a image from the internet perfectly the first try, but why can't I draw my stuff.

If any one has had this problem please tell me how you got over it.

oh, this problem persists with computer drawings as well.

Well, it seems that you need more practice. I'd say that you need to go through some drawing tutorials to practice drawing your own stuff. And choose one artist and draw a lot of his stuff for practice. just keep practicing. Good luck.

I tried what you said, it is helping a great deal. Thx!

Unfortunatly I still have trouble transfering my ideas to paper. I hope I learn how to make quality orginals soon, I'm going to forget my Ideas at this rate.

Write/sketch your ideas down on paper. And when I say sketch, I mean a light impromptu drawing. That way, you're not pressured to finish the drawing and you'll have reference material for your later works. It also solves the problem of you forgetting your ideas.

Eternity is right. Even if they are just gestures (a spine/action line and stick arms and legs) they still get the basics down. Another good idea is to keep a tiny reading light and a sketch book in the oddest places (ie, next to your bed or toilet) or even carry a pocket sizr wherever you go. You get ideas in the strangest places. -^_^-

If you seriouly want to start on the right foot on the artistic track, try drawing life. It really does help in drawing anime, even if you might not think it. Porportions become more real, features less vague. Also, just people watching let's your brain imagine more than you think it would. Filling yourself with ideas is the best way to make more -^_^- Good Luck!

I first started drawing anime about 3 years ago and damn, I shamed it's good name with my bad attempts that were...coloured...in yellow O_o Too much Simpsons.

Anyway, I found it easy to copy but my originals sucked real bad, I was drawing Digimon at the time and I myself could never understand why the copies were better than the originals.

But after about 2 years of copying I was getting my own character ideas and put them onto paper, and low and behold, they were decent.
I think I've been drawing originals for about a year and a half and I hardly have to copy anymore, but it was the copying in the first place that helped me.

I have a question though, how long have you been drawing anime for? It's taken me three years plus to get the level I'm at now and I could use a lot of improvement.

It just comes down to what others have said, practice. If you don't get it at first, don't worry, you'll get better the more you draw ^_^
