Guest Dagnarus
I really like the topic. It really makes you think...unless you already obsessed with a particular character, then it should just be simple. If not then I think this question is just a complete excercise in futility.I mean just think about it, if you have been an avid fan of anime for a decent period of time, you have seen countless anime's some of which you probably dont even remember watching ( ). And because of this its almost im possible to narrow down to just one favorite character(unless you are already completely obsessed with one already, like i stated before). So i guess the only thing you could do is group your favorite characters into specific genres. Otherwise you are just going to get a massive headache. And headaches arent fun! But this is just my opinion and I could be wrong :p
Guest mewmewkittycat
i love sesshoumaru too! :D i think he's like one of the favorite character of lots of people. But them i also love other anime characters too like Yoh for his attitude and Ren for his stubborness. And also lots lots more :D
SilverCyclone
Excel from Excel Saga is my personal favorite. All that energy wasted. But my reasons (complete...fanboy...must...resist) are merely because she is hot (oh god!) and hilarious to watch! I just love her antics, her boundless energy and complete waste of potential, and I will one day invent a device to pull her out of the TV into the real world. Until then, I will worship her at my shrine in the back of my closet (kidding).

Guest Wolf Lord
My favorite anime character is without a doubt Darcia from wolfs rain, hes my favorite for the following reasons: 1.He has a very tragic pass, he finds paradise and the love of his life and then both are torn away from him 2.He wears an evil looking outfit 3.One of his eyes is a wolf eye and that just looks to cool 4.His wolf eye can knock people out and see through illusions 5.Hes completey emotionless(except at the end of the series when he goes insane but thats another reason hes cool) 6.He kills ALL of the main characters! How many villains have done that? 7.Hes willing to do anything to get what he wants 8.He says cool things like"It is forbidden for you to step into this territory as you are an unclean creature." 9.Hes utterly insane and evil
Falkon
Hmm... a SINGLE favorite character?? No can do. However, some of my favorites are Princess Mononoke, Ashitaka (from princess mononoke) Kenshin from Rurouni Kenshin/Samurai X, Excel from Excel Saga... Princess mononoke because shes raised by wolves, and just plain kicks a**, as well as Ashitaka. Kenshin because I'm obsessed with Samurai. Excel because shes loud funny, good-looking, and different. So a single favorite character=not happening.
tattoi nobori
Lately, I've got to go with Mugen from Watanabe's new masterpiece-in-the-making, Samurai Champloo. The whole series just drips with style, but Mugen's attitude and break dance-inspired fighting style are way over the top... ^_^ All-time? Probably have to go with "Major" Kusanagi from GITS, or Kaneda from the Akira manga. (I think Kaneda comes off as a lot stronger in the manga than in the movie, in terms of his motivation and personality.) Just my $0.02...
enin
Keitaro Urashima from Love Hina is at the moment my favourite character because I feel both his and my reality are pretty similar. We're both ronins. We both have female friends ready to knock us into the sky. We both have good intentions yet constantly end up in unfortunate situations. Lastly, we're both damn determined to find "the one" and get accepted into university...
Guest Angel_fire
hmm...fav anime char. That's hard to say. Mine is actaully from a manga but, I'd say Rain Jewlitt from Immortal Rain. He's hot, smart, immortal (obviously), and amazingly he's over 600 years old, yet he hardly looks 20. He's good at creating mass chaos (what more could you ask for in a guy? lol!) Face it, Rain rules!!!!
ChibiHorsewoman
Favorite in what catergory? Because there are quite a few. Male villain, female villain, favorite idiodic anime character? Favorite good guy? There are just so manyto chose from? 1.Favorite anime female villain: Well, I have to say Kagura from InuYasha. She's well, let;s see. I like how she stands up to Naraku despite the fact that he could kill her in a moments notice.
She even tries to escape him by getting Sesshomaru to steal the shikon no tama
Kagura also has a really nice powerful attack. But most of all I think it's her ambition to be free from Naraku even if it means death that makes me like her so much. 2. Favorite manga female villain: Sailor Heavy Metal Pappilion from SailorMoon stars arc. I can't really remember much of her since she only appeared for one act in the manga, but I did like her costume and her attack. Even the way she appeared in the grave yard surrounding SailorMoon with butterflies was pretty. To bad she only appeared in the manga 3.Favorite anime male villain: Ichiro or Ichan from Angelic Layer. okay, so maybe he's not really a villain, but he is pretty nasty sometimes. The things he does to his co-worker are rather questionable. Like in the first episode where he had the poor guy put a squid in his pants. That's just plain wrong. 4. Favorite manga male villain: This is a toughie. I guess Ryo Okayasu from Peach Girl. He's nasty, vindictive and pretty much a criminal, but he's kind of cute. So He's a decent villain. 5. Favorite anime good guy female: Dita from Vandread. She's just plain funny in the episodes I've watched. And I love how she innocently uses all that sexual inuendo because she doesn't realize that it is what it is. In some ways her naivete reminds me of me. Scary isn't it? 6. Favorite manga good guy female: Tie between Kira Aso from Mars and Momo Adachi from Peach Girl. They're both the sweet somewhat misunderstood type. Kira over comes all sorts of bad crap like
Her stepfather raping her
and begins to come out of her shell. and Momo even tho Sae pulls all sorts of crap on her Momo is still a nice person and even tries to help Sae a few times. Plus Mom has a bit of an edge to her. 7. favorite male good guy I don't know of one in anime that I really liked so I'll just say Kiley from Peach girl. He always stuck by Momo no matter what and he even tried to help Toji see what was going on. Heck, if it was at all possible, I'd ahve Kiley for a boyfriend. So ends my list
Immortal Meier
well..only one special character..i'll have to say that probably meier from vampire hunter d bloodlust (even if it's an animated film and not a series). probably i like him for the strength that he puts in his love with an human and his search for a better place to live with her..risking his life..his soul..everything.. Soliel
Hum... for some reason, this thread seems familar. Guess there have been others like it, but none resently. Well lets see, I've got quite a few favs as far as anime characters are concerned. I guess to shorten the list, I'll just pull my favorite character from each of my favorite series. From Sailor Moon it's a three way tie between Usagi, Makoto, and Seiya. I can relate to Usa's clumsiness, Mako's a brunnet tomboy, like me,
and Seiya may act like an arogant idiot, especially when he starts hitting on Usa, but I think he can be pretty cool too.
From Inuyasha, another tie, this time between Sango and Sesshomaru. Sango is a girl who can hold her own in battle, and I just think Sesshi's cute (so sue me). From Dragonball, I'd have to go with Gohan because he's really sweet and he's also a bit smarter than the other fighters. Okay I guess I can't think of any more right now. I'll post more when I do.
Sword Breaker
Well, recenlt my Fav anime charecter changed! As soon as I got ahold of Bleach Ep 2, i'd have to say Ichigo and Kuchikia! They play so well ooff of eachother, simply becouse of Ichigo's stubberness and Kuchikia's blind determination to make him to the Death God duties, they simply make the anime enjoyable. Without them, it would be ka-rap.
Halo2
My favorite is. Probably Vash Stampede. I love it when he gets all angery and looks like the Diablo. He scary and cool with those blood shot eyes. And who is that girl which he likes which is dead or something???

Dagger
Alright, folks... let's start improving the post quality in this thread, shall we? I'm genuinely shocked that it did so well initially, and it'd be great if we could keep it from travelling down that familiar slippery slope. One more thing-- USE SPOILER TAGS. For the love of all that's holy, try not to ruin a show for your fellow fans. I was innocently scrolling through the second page of the topic when I stumbled across a post which may have totally ruined the ending of Wolf's Rain for me. I haven't ventured near the WR thread for weeks, simply because I'd like to see the final episodes on DVD without being spoiled by people who've already watched them on Adult Swim. Alas, now all my efforts seem to have been made in vain. So to reiterate, using spoiler tags is simply common courtesy. All you have to do is type
text[*/spoiler], minus the asterisk. If any of you have questions, please PM me or one of the other mods. Thanks in advance. ~Dagger~
Guest Angel of Death7
Well, to me that's a very hard question. I enjoyed a lot of anime over the years, but to be honest, my favorite character is................... Heero Yuy from Gundam Wing. Not only is he the leader of the bunch, but he is clever in many ways, and very strong for a sixteen year old (or whatever age he is), he is what they call "The Perfect Soldier". Not to mention he has one of the anime characters who I can relate with (except for being strong.) He always wishes to be alone, and he's very serious about everything, and that's what I love about him.

If any of you have questions, please PM me or one of the other mods. Thanks in advance. ~Dagger~
Okay, I just thought of some more favorite characters, but first I just want to add something to what Dagger said. She brought up a good point to use spoiler tags, but some of you are a bit unsure when to use them. Some of you may think that just becuase you saw a movie or episode on TV that everyone else has seen it; clearly this is not the case. This is sort of a guide line I use for implementing spoiler tags: 1) Any show that has not been dubbed, some people only watch anime in English. 2) Any show that is only available on DVD or VHS, regardless of how long ago it was realeased, their are some people who haven't seen some movies such as Akira or Vampire Hunter D but still plan on watching them sometime in the future. 3) Any episodes of a series currently running on TV that have only aired once or only recently been aired, this would include Wolf's Rain, Inuyasha, Dragonball GT, Yu Yu Hakusho, and Gundum Seed to name a few. And, 4) Any show that has only aired on primium cable or satilite channels such as Tech TV and Anime Network. Okay, I hope this helps everyone, and now, back to my post... Let's see ... First their's Sanosuke from Rurouni Kenshin, because he's really strong and yet can act really goofy as well. I really like funny characters; serious ones are a real snore. Thier's also Seto Kaiba from Yu-Gi-Oh! He seems to have this mysteriousness to him where you can't quite figure out whether he's good or bad, but I think no matter how tough he acts, deep down he's good. Hum, one more should do it,
Ginji
from Get Backers.
Again with the funny character thing, I find it amusing how he can be only focused on food during some of his conversations with Ban. It's also cool how he can control electricity.
Well, I think that's it. Do you think I listed too many?
liubei013
Bleh, tough choice here...so many characters to choose from...narrowing it down seems next to impossible. Guess I'll choose one of favorites at random. Xellos from Slayers Next/Try. He has that mysterious air about him, as well as an animated personality at times. (Heck,
he claims himself as the "Mysterious Priest."
) I love it when he lies so sincerely to both enemies and allies alike. Of course, we can't forget about his signature saying, the ever funny and annoying, "That's a secret."
YamiNo Mireille
^^; My favorite character... I have too many. But I'll only list a few. I like Yami no Yugi from Yuugiou [Yu-Gi-Oh!], Mireille from .hack//LEGEND OF THE TWILIGHT BRACELET, not regular Kenshin, but Hitokiri Battousai from Rurouni Kenshin, Kero from CCS, Kurama from Yu Yu Hakusho, Hikaru from Hikaru no Go, Sakura from Naruto, Sesshoumaru from InuYasha, I could go on, but I won't. XD >D I am obsessed with Mou Hitori no Yugi...
ChibiHorsewoman
I just started watching Fushigi Yugi again...now that I have all the episodes. I've decided that another one of my favoirte female villains in either anime or manga would be Soi of the Seiryuu seven. Yeah, so she's a bit of a well, a word that you can't type here because it'd be censored, but aren't we all at one point? She's also very powerful, I think maybe even more powerful than Kagura. Ok, maybe that's not very fair since Kagura could easily be killed by Naraku and all she has is wind power. Soi can
control the weather, or something like that. The second episode where she appeared was when Miaka and the others were on their way to find the Shinzaho and they were on this ship. Soi stired up this big storm which started to destroy the ship and the a few of them (miaka included ) fell over board. She even caused Tamahome to be electrocuted.
Don't get me wrong, I like Tamahome, but sometimes it's fun to watch the bad guys be bad. Also I think she's drawn really nicely-I guess I could say she's pretty in an evil sorceress kind of way. Anyways, since there's this topic about favoite anime characters we may as well have least favorite anime characters. One of my least favorite villains in Nakago. My first reason is kind of strange, the guy has a mullet. Has anyone else noticed that? I don't even know why I thougt of that except that in that scene where he
kills that bird for no good reason
you can see his profile and it looks like he has a mullet. That scene is probably another good example of why I don't care very much for Nakago he has no respect for anyone but himself.
He used Amiboshi to infiltrate the Suzaku warriors and ended up losing him for a whie. Then he used Suboshi's anger at the loss of his twin to kill Tamahome's family. He lied to Yui and tricked her into turning against her best friend and becoming the priestess of Seiryuu.
He's just not a very nice guy and he kills animals so you'd have to report him to PETA or atleast the ASPCA
Raina
My fave anime character is definately Trunks from Dragon Ball GT!!!!! Readordie
Oh, this is a toughie. I'll do a top five. 1) Samajima Mamimi(FLCL) has a certain infectiously sweet air about her that simply puts you into a good mood. Sure, she's a little messed up in the head and started doing...bad things to poor Ta-kun, but you've simply gotta love her! 2) Reidman Yomiko(Read or Die) is such an unsung hero that I simply have to single her out. She's not at all what you'd think of when you think of an anime hero, and she has the best super power ever. Who'da thought that paper could pack such a punch? 3) Aoyama Motoko(Love Hina) started out as a stupid man-hating-super-strong-swordswoman steryotype, but by the end of the manga or the anime she was a vibrant, but very insecure young woman. The character development involved was simply fantastic. 4) Ichihara Yuko(XXXHoLiC) is the singluar most misterious and sensual anime character I've ever seen. Sure, she's a bit of a wack job and sure, XXXHoLiC isn't an anime yet, but that doesn't even put a dent in her awesome...ness. 5) Faye Valentine(Cowboy Bebop) Three reasons: 1. Just LOOK at her. 2. She's not your average femme fatale, she falters on the job. 3. She's got a nice backstory. Yeah, no guys, I know. Hope you're not too disappointed that I'm not making you drool over countless bishounen ;)
