kiraluna
:confuse2: I need help! A lot of it! I'm trying to do a manga, but I'm having trouble keeping at it. And I'm having trouble drawing it. While i usually draw very good, when it comes time for me to draw for my manga I don't do so well. I'm also having trouble with my story line. Does anyone have suggestions for doing better on my manga? Please let me know if you do. Thanks!
Sir Gawain
There are several things that you can do. First, here's a checklist. You've probably done some of these. 1.Create an interesting idea. 2.Work out all main characters. 3.Figure out what roles the characters will play in the story. 4.Rebuild the main events so that they make sense in the long run. 5.Think of important smaller events that can take place between the main events. 6.Continue editing the story, adding any neccessary characters and making sure it flows the way you want it to. 7.Draw pictures with the story that make sense. Unfortunately, I can't tell you how to draw. I stink myself and always revert back to a poor 2 D creation I call Chob. Hehe. Chobs. Anyway, I hope this advice helps. Delta
It sounds to me like you keep the scenes in your head until it's time to draw them. That never did work for me; I'm *very* forgetful. XD Do what I do. Work out an outline (it does help). Write it down so you can get a good overall view of your story. Once you're happy with the story, start drawing! Oh yes, I draw thumbnails of each individual page. It's a lovely way to save paper and I don't get overwhelmed by a large blank sheet. Good luck! Guest Kinjitsu
I've also been trying to draw my own but by the time I get near anything close to a decent manga I think of a different idea that seems so much better.
kiraluna
I've also been trying to draw my own but by the time I get near anything close to a decent manga I think of a different idea that seems so much better.
Thats what happens to me. I'm not sure what idea I want to use in my manga. It's hard because I only really have time to do one manga, but I have several good ideas. I'm thinking of combining any ideas that I can. Thanks for the help. I think what I'll do is start drawing and work out what happens as I go along as long as I keep a little ahead of what I'll draw next and keep my main idea in mind when I choose what happens. If I just keep planning what will happen, I don't think I'll ever get to paper with it. [b]Do not double post in the future. Guest Sojiro
yeah, drawing a manga seems easy if your a good artist, but that doesnt realy mean anything, it takes so much time and patience, lots of confidence, and commitment, i suggest u dont rele start one now, lots of ppl think they can, but it will take years sometimes, thru out the day tho u should sketch some of the characters u might want to use, get used to drawing them, give them personalities and unique little charactersitics. :D but stay strong, if u r devoted enough to your cause you might create some pretty awesome stuff. SilverCyclone
I've also been trying to draw my own but by the time I get near anything close to a decent manga I think of a different idea that seems so much better.
I have at least 30 different ideas that never got off the ground. But anyway, I would suggest making a script, and drawing the pictures based off of those. That tends to work for most people. I myself work backwards (I already have a nice climax to my current project, but no beginning whatsoever) but that doesnt work for most people. Keep at it. Its very difficult to make a kick a** manga the first time. If you ever need help with anything, let me know! My drawings may not be the best, but I can sure come up with some great ideas (which leaves my other projects in the land of forgotten)

I already have my characters down really well and i have somewhat of a story line. I'm thinking of putting more effort into it, trying to actually spend time on it this time now that I'm set on which story I want to do.
Pinewoodpine
Well, some notes and a planner should work. Write down anything you need. Ideas, characters, plots, just put them in. Than have a final version and draw. When it's story writing, I have the confidence to finish it. And very nicely done too. But when it comes to drawing, that's a totally different story... sakura18
Well, all i can say is that you should plan everything first before you say "I'm gonna make my own manga!" Believe me, i tried to make a manga through improvision and it sucked!!! >.< So just find some time, sit down, and jot down ideas for an intresting storyline. Maybe you read a novel or another manga that can inspire an idea,....just don't copy their storyline ^-^' I wish you luck! ^-^
Shugo54
i have never tried to make amanga. but in 8th grade i did do a comic it was 6 episodes long. it was called Monkey Pimp even though the drawings sucked people liked it because it was based on people i knew. It was a weird comic but it was pretty popular (even though it was an undeground comic). The stories were unique because i used to always think before i drew so that is how i made it. but when the homework started pouring in i didn't have enough time to keep up with the story. So i just ended it. i am planning to try to bring him back but now in HS theres double HW that sucks. i will probably make it in vacations...hopefully. :wigout:
Guest Gizzygurl234
Yeah, I've been drawing Manga for a while now, and yet I continually can't draw men, and if I do, they all look like Yuki from Furuba * ack! too girly!* Anyways, how I do my online comic is by creative writing... lol. In essence, really random plot line that I make up as I go along. That's my last resort ^^. Plus, learning to draw any manga can be somewhat complicated to some people. A good thing to do is to get some assessment by an expert manga drawer/moderately good manga drawer so you can continually go in the right direction in your drawing. Using manga 'how to draw' book resources as 'basic' starting guides also help. Good luck with your comic! - Leeny San
