Ezekiel
This thread is really in respect for Ken Bigley and the other two American hostages that have been killed in Iraq. Throughout the day I've heard news reports that there was a chance that Ken Bigley had been killed by his kidnappers yesterday, but none of it had been confirmed. I?ve just been watching the news and it's been reported that it's true and that Ken Bigley was beheaded last night. I know the two Americans were the first to go and my heart goes out to everyone who knew them, it just seems that Ken's death hits a bit closer to home for me. He was from Liverpool, just like me and was an engineer working in Iraq. I think all of Liverpool and the country will be mourning his death today. He was obviously very brave to have withstood 22 days of captivity in those horrible conditions and I have much respect for him. I hope his family are treated well by the press and the public and that this story is not blown out of proportion in sheer respect, they should be allowed to mourn alone. I don't want to say too much about this and I understand if this doesn't spark a lot of discussion, but I felt it needed to be said. Rest in Peace, Ken, I hope you've found somewhere better.
Zidargh
As harsh as it sounds, his fate was sealed from day one. As much as I disagree with the Government at the moment, they did do everything they could. And though for anyone who has had a member of the family kidnapped and held in captivity it's so damn tempting to give them what they want, people must realise that you simply cannot give into terrorists. If Blair did, then we'd have thousands of other terrorist groups targeting British civilians and holding them hostage because then they know they'll get what they want. Kenneth's family know the Government did what they good. And besides, Mr. Bigley was warned to get out of the country in the event this would happen, but he refused to listen. It was almost inevitable. However I do have respect for the man and his sacrifice, because once again, nations have set an example of strength against terrorism. May he rest in peace. Epitome
Okay I mean no disrespect by this question, but may I ask who Ken Bigley is? Im only 15 years old so I really dont watch a whole lot of news... But even though I dont know who he is, may god bless him and his family, and may he rest in peace.
Baron Samedi
I'm only 15, and I watch a fair bit of news ~_^ Anyway, three hostages were taken in Iraq about 3 weeks ago. The two Americans were beheaded very quickly, but they kept an Englishman [Ken Bigley] alive for the last 3 weeks, and only executed him today. That's what happened. It is a shame. The poor guy...no-one can know what he was going through. But at least it's over for him.
