[I][CENTER][COLOR=DimGray][SIZE=1]You trek through the forest in the Country of Fire, the smells of nature dancing gently on your senses. The sun beams down gently through the canopy, gently caressing you with fingers of warmth as dappled shafts of light play across your face. The earth is spongy and rich beneth your feet, yielding a little with each step. It seems the very earth itself wishes you a pleasant journey. Creatures scurry, creating rustling symphonies of majestic simpleness, as birds add harmonies of infinite complexity, their choir willing you on your way.
Suddenly, the forest breaks off, and you find yourself on the top of a hill, looking over a peaceful village. Shops, bars and resteraunts mix in with the crowd of houses, surrouded by a great wall, at least two dozen foot hight. it is nestled againt a cliff, n which stands four giant carvings, four faces of ageless wisdom and strength. You can faintly hear the sound of children playing in the strees, and the sound of adults shouting.
You make your way into the vilage, looking around with a vague sense of awe. Men and women work hard here, fixing houses, shouting out what goods they have for sale, sounds of perfect synchonicity.
"Good morning." a voice speaks from behind you, and you turn with a start. Where had this person come from?
The figure is tall and lanky, with jet black hair and an easy smile. He wears a vest lined with pockets for various tools and items. Across his forehead he wears a small metal plate on a strip of cloth, depicting this image:

"What is this place?" you ask the stranger
"This is Konoha. The hidden Village of Leaf."

And so begins my slow spiral of torture and madness by trying to organise this...

This idea has kind of been gestating in my mind for the past few months (that is, to say, when I started watching Naruto). I've seen fair few number of RP's based on various anime in the Adventure in, and I thought I'd try my hand at it (since Mancer only got 3 people interested in it...boohoo and whatnot), but with a twist. Apart from the world it is set in, there will be little to actually to dow with the anime. For those of you who don't know, Naruto is an anime about ninja (or shinobi, depending on your translation). Ninja are basically the army, policemen and civil servants all rolle dinto one, and the number of ninja in a coutry defines they're military might. The anime is basicaly about the adventures and missions of a group of ninja, the main character being Uzimaki Naruto (who incidentally has a demon bound to his soul....but that's not important for this). They are trained at special schools, and gain in ranks by completing missions from babysitting to assassination.

Fortunately, you don't have to kn ow ANY of this for Project: Konoha to work.

The plan is to make this RP about a group of students (up to about 12, I was thinking) and track their record from academy cadets (the lowest rank) to quite possibly Jounin (the highest) or even beyound, with the old PCs getting their own new cadets and training them...but I'm getting ahead of myself. Basically, the player heirarchy (for lack of a better term) with be thus:

[B]Cadet[/B]: This is the "True" PC, and can have knowledge of Naruto or not. They will be taught about the mechanics and society of the world IC, to be totally true to the anime. They are taught by a [B]Chuunin[/B] (see later)

[B]Genin[/B] (Rookie): Are the next level up, and the first rank of "proper" ninja. After the training in the Academy, cadets are graduated and can now go on missions. they are spread into three man teams, each led by a [B]Jounin[/B], they are generally sent on the lowest mission (delivering packages, rescuing pets etc.). Still the "normal" PC character

[B]Chuunin[/B] (Soldier): These are given somewhat more difficult missions than Genin, and are the bulk of the Ninja forces in all countries. They normally have jobs outside being a ninja within the Village (such as a scholar, organiser for events, examiner/teacher in the academy and so on). There is a graduation twice a year to promote Genin to Chuunin. Still a "Normal" PC character.

[B]Jounin[/B] (Elite): These are (almost) the best the village has to offer. They are given the hardest misisons, and hae the most skill in fighting and Ninjutsu. Each is in charge of a three man Genin squadron. OOC, these people will help me with plot hook's/scenarios within the RP, and will be the more dangerous NPCs. I would prefer if they had a good grasp of the Naruto world (or are just exceptionally good RPers). I'll probably have a Jounin Character as well as my main character.

[B]Hokage[/B] (Leader): The Hokage is the best of the best (of the best, if you please) and is the leader of the Village. I'll probably take this minor role, and be in charge of arganising RPs within Konoha.

I was thinking that while there is a central "hub" thread for the Konoha RPers, there will be different threads for the differen RPs within it. However, this leads me to yet another choice. Should it actually be in Konoha? Konoha is a defined and intricate place within the Naruto world, and might be confusing to people who don;t have much in-depth knowledge of the series. This gives me 3 options:

[*]Set the RP in Konoha
[*]Set the RP in a place within the Naruto world that has a set idea (Militaristic, Religious etc) and build up
[*]Create a compeltely new Hidden village in a differant country (such as the Country of Wave, which does not have a Village as of now)

[COLOR=SlateGray][SIZE=1]I haven't seen very many Naruto RPGs around OB.

I think that you've come up with a really unique ideal. And would love to see it put forth.

I really liking the set up, being that it works for both those who have read or seen Naruto or not. Since it requires less knowledge of the anime/manag it's self I think it will be easier for you to get sign ups that way. A good job with time and location.

But as you've mention having it set specifically in Konoha might cause some problems. I suggest to try and avoid having it take place there. Unless, of course, your really willing to explain a bit in-depth on Konoha.

Personally, I'd go with choice number three. It would leave more areas for; character development, task/testing/assignments, and plot.

Sounds awsom. I am a HUGE Naruto fan, and I would definatly sign up for it. However, shouldn't their be a few Jounin in the Sign Ups, becouse the students will need to have a leader, plus we need somone one a completly DIFFERENT level from the rest, at least in the begining, and does the whole 'Save the day' thing. We need to have somone who will be the person they look up to, that just adds a whole other dimension to the posibilities of the RPG. I really hope you get this off the ground, couse Naruto owns!

Oh, and I would suggest number 3, aswell, becouse it is a much more flexible idea.

[COLOR=DarkSlateGray][SIZE=1]I've got to agree with Eikou that this is a really unique plot and it would be interesting to see it carried out.

I'm very interested in this RP idea, even though I've never seen Naruto (but I want to). I'd enjoy even doing some research if it was necessary.

But like Eikou also said, keeping with a place very specific to the Naruto plot may be a bad idea since people who haven?t seen the show would be a bit clueless, everything else you've pointed out seems to fit nicely with both fans or people interested in the RP.

My vote also goes for option three and I really look forward to seeing this in the Inn. I'd love to eventually play a Jounin but I don't know squat about Naruto ^_^; Guess I really will have to do my research.[/SIZE][/COLOR]

Swordbreaker, there will be more than 1 openings for Jounins, depending (mostly) on the number of Academy Students/Genin join originally.

Well, going from this, I think having the RP set in a new Hidden Village would be best. I'm still working on it, but I think the title of the project will change.
