Shwa
I saw this game at the nearest E.B in the mall I go to and it really looked good, thank goodness I had some extra cash on me to get it. So this game is a kind of RPG/Adventure type of game and the great thing about it is that you can control up to 4 X-Men at a time. Also there are a variety of 15 X-Men to chose from when you go through the game earning characters, for some people you might reconize the old and new X-Men from the show and comic books. There's: Cyclopes Wolverine Storm Nightcrawler  Jean Grey Beast Jubilee  Ice-Man Magma Rouge Emma Frost Colossus  Gambit Pshylock  and Professor Xavier The plot of this story (form what I can tell you) is that it has to do with Magnito and his plots to destroy humanity and yet again it is up to the X-Men to stop him from doing so. There is also something going on witht the Sentinals but that is still unknown of ('casue i havnt gotten that far in the game) But besides them there are a multitude of villiens to fight. There's: Mystique Blob Juggernaut  Toad Avalanch Magnito Pyro Marrow (Why did she have to be bad :bawl: ) The Morlocks Sentinals  and much more..... In my opinion this is one of the best games Activision has made of the X-Men game in the longest. Of course the game is not limited to one person, there can be two players max for PS2 (I'm not sure what the player limit is for Game Cube or X-Box but i'm pretty sure its the same for PS2). The grafics on this game are very nice and so is the fighting, along your journy you get to level up your character to give them more power whether it be for physical attacks to their mutant powers. Along the game you get to find some disk for the Danger Room and practice fighting enemies to get stronger and better as well. Well thats my thoughts about the game so far....I'm stuck in the Morlock level so talk laters.

Anyone know for sure what the player amount is for this game on GC or XB? I would hope 4-player, but well....
Purple Haze
For Xbox it's 4 player. My friend got the game on friday and me and a couple other friends stayed the night over at his house and played the game all night. We didn't get that far(I don't think) we just beat Pyro before I left the next day. It was fun. My favorite person was beast. The cell shaded graphics fit the game well. The gameplay was a little basic, just like any other beat'em up game but was fun because of the mutant powers.
Manic Webb
Considering I hear "combo!" in my sleep, I would guess I played this game a little too much. It was a pretty fun game, and the gameplay was addictive. You gotta love thinking your opponents to death as Jean Grey. It was a tad confusing the first time, and some of the puzzles were hard to figure out. I've been playing through for the second time, although very sparingly so it doesn't get too old, too fast. I love the Ultimate X-Men character models, although I've been
playing as 70's Phoenix in place of Jean. You can switch costumes at your whimsy once you've beaten the game the first time.
A lot of people seem to be into this game, so I wouldn't be surprised if Activision made a sequel. According to the end of the game,
Apocalypse is ready to strike. It could mean a few new playable characters, like Cable or Archangel or Askani/Rachel Summers/Phoenix/Marvel Girl/Whatever she's calling herself these days
. Nikorasu
I want to play this game. Being an X-Men fan, I've been looking foward to this for a couple of years. I just need to find a place to rent it. I've seen a show about in on G4TechTV. Is that my imagination, or is Wolverine voiced by Steve Blum? I could be wrong, and I wouldn't doubt iit since I just barely heard Wolverine's voice.
Semjaza
I'm just wondering what sort of game this is exactly. I'm tired of picking through four page long impressions, so I figured someone here could just answer it. Is this basically just Diablo/Champions of Norrath/Dark Alliance with X-Men characters? Screens gave me that impression. I might rent it, but I am not sure what to think of it yet.
satan665
They bill it as kind of an X-Men RPG, where you can switch characters on the fly. The action is in real time, and I don't know much about if there's level or skill building...Hmm maybe I just shouldn't have answered cause I haven't played it. I bet it would be a good rental. Manic Webb
It's an action RPG. You control any character of your choice, while the game's AI controls the other 3 people in your party. You can switch-off which character in your party you have manual control of, with the tap of a button. The controls give you a basic melee attack button, a stronger/slower smash attack button, grab, and (of course) jump. The shoulder buttons allow you to use up to 4 mutant powers, items, and to call on your allies for back-up. To get a real idea of what the gameplay is like, I'd suggest downloading a clip or two from the mutant vault at www.X-MenLegends.com
Venge
I'm not sure where this thread is supposed to go, but I assume here. And I know there is a thread about XML, but this is about a glitch within the game which has probably annoyed EVERY single player. Here it goes... Have you ever played a game where you were on the last boss and as you're about to land the finishing blow, the game freezes? Well, in this case, it has happened SO many times...whenever me and my friend went up against Master Mold, it froze up, showing us a green screen. We could never figure what happened until recently. The cause of this glitch is in every copy of XML to our knowledge. During the last boss battle, if you press START or SELECT at any time during the battle, the game will freeze. It doesn't do it automatically, but it waits till the boss is almost dead. I bet many of you XML players have dealt with this, so...if any of you can give me any info on how to counter this, please help me out any way you can. >>Matt It's still relates only to X-Men Legends, though, so it still belongs in the main thread. *merges* - Desbreko
AzureWolf
Why is it necessary to press START or SELECT at all during the boss? If you don't do that, there won't be any problem, right? Also, I bet later versions of the game fixed the bug, so if you can somehow trade your copy in for a new one, the glitch most likely won't be there. I'm pretty sure they update console games just like they update computer games, just that only people who buy the games later on enjoy these updates.
Slartibartfast
I liked playing XML but I couldn't get very far in the game. I guess I'm just sucky at it. I got to the part where you have to help Colossus by welding the arms at the nuclear reactor and nothing I did would work. By then it was time to take the game back to Family Video. :( Oh well. Manic Webb
I thought it was worth mentioning... Activision has opened the website to X-Men Legends 2: Rise of Apocalypse at www.XMenLegends2.com This game will cut down the number of playable X-Men to 8, allowing you to also play as 8 Brotherhood members in your quest to stop the fiendish Apocalypse. So far, screenshots and gameplay videos are available for 4 characters.
Mitch
I own it. I'm not a rabid X-men fan but I like X-men nonetheless. I still didn't find it to be as great as a lot of people seemed to make it out to be. It's basically a Diablo/ Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance clone, and having played games like these a lot made it so the game wasn't as great as others might think. It's still a good game, though, and at least worth renting.
