My rankings:

1. Gundam SEED (All of the action and drama that made past Gundam series great, but with stronger focus on the character relationships, a more up-to-date view of the future, and a unique art style)
2. Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam (Often cited as the holy grail of Gundam; I prefer SEED myself, but the intense story and ultra-cool mecha designs make me understand why so many think that)
3. The 8th MS Team (The shorter length and slightly bigger cast allow it to show 0079's message without becoming too preachy or repetitive; plus it has the best dub)
4. MSG Movie Trillogy (The classic story of 0079 condensed into a smaller package with more action)
4. Mobile Suit Gundam: 0079 (Important, influential, classic)
5. Turn A Gundam (Truely original)
7. Gundam Wing: Endless Watlz (Pulls all of the pieces together for Gundam Wing while keeping the original show's best qualities)
8. Mobile Suit ZZ Gundam (A good sequel to Zeta, although not quite on the par)
9. Mobile Suit Gundam: 0083 (A different look on the One-Year War)
10. Mobile Suit Gundam: 0800 (Another alternate viewpoint)
11. Mobile Suit Gundam Wing (Good animation and a cool story, but the main characters just aren't that likable)
--------------------------(the line between what I like and what I dislike)---------------------
12. Mobile Fighter G Gundam (It gets a bit wierd, and I don't like the Gundam-meets-DBZ premise)
13. G Savior (Exactly why no one but WETA Workshop should even dare making a live-action anime)
14. SD Gundam (Super-Deformed version) (Just not my style of humor)
15. SD Gundam Force (Superior Defender version) (An action show with no action, a comedy show with no comedy, irritating characters, and can't even pass for the name "Gundam")
--------------------(the line between what I dislike and what I haven't seen)-----------------
Haven't seen: F91 Gundam, Victory Gundam, Gundam X, Gundam SEED Astray, Gundam SEED 2: Destiny

My favorite Gundam series is The 8th MS Team. What makes it great is that the Gundams aren't all mighty indestructible machines. They are just a step above a GM unit. These things can be blown to bits with out all the effort. The story is exceptionally well done as well. They keep the military atmosphere as well as develope a love story.10 out of 10.

The worst is SD Gundam. That just made me cry. It was horrible and I almost lost faith in the Gundam series. But now that Gundam Seed has arrived, once again I beileve. I woul give SD a -999,999,999 out of 10.

I didn't see all of Stardust Memory, but from what I saw it had something going for it. Based on what I've seen I give it a 8 out of 10.

Gundam Wing was cool, but the Almighty indesructalbe Gundam Slowed it down for me. The story was great as with most Gundam, I give it a 9 out of 10.

G Gundam was OK. It could be better. Ill make it short. 7 out of 10.

I haerd rumor tha a new gundam series called Last Outpost is coming out. Anyone else know anything? :smirk:

i think the best was gundam wing because it had a more developed story and more action instead of just alot of explaining about what might happen. Also there really wasn't an almighty gundam, sure Wing Zero was supposed to be the perfect gundam and all and was considered indestructible but it also causes one to go temporarily insane so the benefits were scarce compared to the drawbacks. Most of all i liked it because it was not as much of a military setting and was a little more relaxed and easy to understand. All together the only thing i didn't like about Wing was the loyalty scheme of the whole thing, because at first the gundams start out fighting for the colonies and then they do a 180 and suddenly they are fighting against them.

Another one that i really like is gundam seed. This is because, as i said before, it does a better job of relying on its own story line and not feeding off the others, because nobody is gonna see all of them. Another aspect about seed that it has a good story to it with the love stories intertwined, it draws more people into it. One major draw back to Seed tho was that there was only one gundam that was on the earth forces side, where as Zaft had about five. In all i would give it and gundam wing about a 10 out of ten so far.

The worst gundam by far was SD Gundam. What was the point in it? It was more focused toward little kids. This was totally going out on a tangent because the other gundams were all very serious, war based stories, and then you throw something like this in there?!?! Even by the animation you can tell it is centered around kids. i would give this a 0 out of 10. Don't watch this if you value your life!!!!

Superior Defender Gundam is a parody. It's meant to make light of the legacy as a whole, so of course it's not going to have all the elements that a Gundam series has. Plus, as it's already been said, it was directed towards a younger audience, so yeah, older Gundam fans may not like it. I personally do, but eh.

Anyhow, I find that I liked Mobile Suit Gundam Wing to by my favorite out of the lot (which will probably be the case among several members here). Although it is true (to some extent) that the Gundams were given the Almighty air (except in Endless Waltz when all of them, especially Wing Zero, were shown to be be exactly what they are, machines that can be destroyed), but it was still a good series considering the characters. I mean, you wouldn't expect
sweet, little Quatre to go on a warpath
now, would you? Sure, why that happened is surely reason enough, but you wouldn't expect it from him, given his nature. One of the better plot twists, in my opinion.

Although it doesn't get hardly any of the praise the other series do, Mobile Fighter G Gundam was rather enjoyable to me. The charater development was awesome, and though it didn't follow the main Gundam story (
G Gundam mainly being a love story, and all
), it was a great Gundam series in my opinion and one that should be looked at in a better light.

Though this may sound odd, my least favorite Gundam series is the one that started it all, Mobile Suit Gundam. For some reason, every time I see it, it just grates on me. I just can't mesh with the characters and the overall story is just.....eh. I'm quite sure someone is going to come along and bash me into the ground with reasons as to why it's so great, but I just don't see it.

That's my take, anyhow.

I like SD Gundam. I dont think anyones really giving it a chance.

My personal favorite Gundam series has to be either G-Gundam, because of the fact that it had some of the most likeable charachters, or Char's Counterattack the Movie, because not only does it have the ultimate battle scenes, but that one ace pilot kicked major smurf.

My least favorite series is Gundam Seed. I know its supposed to be awesome, but of the 5 episodes I watched, there was not a single battle. I hate it.

personally i like gundam seed the best. i think it has the best and most interesting storylines out of the gundam series.i give it a 10 out 10. sd gundam is good for little kids but not true gundam fans. g gundam was a good idea but some of the gundams were just to corny.gundam wing is also one of my favorites as well, in fact endless waltz is what got me into gundam.

Gundam SEED is my favorite. It seems that the UC series and Wing put the most emphasis on plot, and G put the most emphasis on action. SEED, however, put the most emphasis on the characters. I'm not saying other Gundam series haven't had cool characters (heck, Char is one of the coolest anime characters period), but SEED's characters were so human, so relatable, so real that they really helped the plot be at it's best. And the plot was already decent in the first place.

SD is terrible. The comedy isn't funny and the action isn't exciting.

yeah most of what he said is true but sacrificing story for character development isn't the best way of going about it. There really is not a stable story line for Gundam Seed it is all just random battles, for example, what was the relevance of them fighting that one dude in the desert?! (can't remember his name but his mobile suit looked like liger off of zoids) The reason i feel gundam wing is superior is because its story is very put together and not really that random and they still do a pretty good job of character development. I think some times that the gundams may have been given the almighty aura in wing but if you will recall, Wing gundam was destroyed twice and the pilots in Wing didn't use there gundams in every fight, many times (such as in space) the pilots were forced to use mobile suits to combat an army of mobile dolls! I mean you are fighting against a computer! Try playing chess against on programmed to kill you if you lose then you will get a sense of their danger.

I had to think for a while so I'll just make Top list:

5. SD Gundam
4. Moile Suit Gundam
3. G Gundam
2. Gundam SEED
1. Gundam Wing

Wing is my favorite I think because it was one of the first ones I saw. Its just, Heero and Relena, that was jsut so captivating to see how it would go. The story was just awesome, and well done.
G Gundam in my 3rd because of the seperate plots between the characters. Each person had a mission. Plus, Rain is just too cool. The art and voice acting were ok, but still better than some. I sort of miss it.
SD Gundam was just too cute, and I'm a sucker for cute.
Gundam SEED and Mobile Suit Gundam... I just love the plots of both. Wasn't SEED sort of a remake of Mobile Suit? I think so, maybe thats why I wrote them together.

Well, I would have to say that Mobile Suit Gundam was my favorite, not the TV series which got butchered; the Movies on VHS when VCRs roamed the earth still O_o;; those movies were only english dubbed and therefore there were so many nice details left intact and watchable ^__^
The movies on VHS 10/10
The DVD movies (don't care about the extras and such 5.5/10)
TV Series on CN 3.5/10

Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Well now, this was what really got me into Gundam and anime itself (sort of). Though I never got to watch the entire series on TV I watched some of it on VHS when they were unedited and I also had my sister-in-law video tape it on the Midnight Run, plus Endless Waltz I got and watched and I absolutely loved it. And Darktigerpack17, Mobile Suit Gundam: The Last Outpost is a manga series that Tokyopop finished up I think, though I suggest you look at any place near you that sells manga and see if you can get the three copies.
I give Mobile Suit Gundam Wing 9/10

Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team
This series was next to one of the shortest (0080 still owning that slot) but being only 12 episodes long it was still very well done and put together, the music, mecha designs, etc. were done exceptionally well and I think really made this series a great UC timeline anime. Though I was disappointed with CN for not showing the 12th episode, and you had to buy the last DVD just to watch it so I was not a real happy camper about that but still the series was great none the less.
9.5/10

Mobile Fighter G-Gundam
This series was made for the 15th anniversary of Gundam in Japan and when it debuted it was given a rather odd look, but once the series finally started to pick up midway it was actually well recieved. Personally I loved the concept of Gundams being made by every single country in the world and sicced on each other to claim the name "Ruler Of The Colonies" for their country. I personally loved the conflict Domon had with Rain. Also, being made in 1995/94 this series had some very nifty gundam designs especially God Gundam (stupid editors called it Burning Gundam) but anywho I really liked this series. If you really watch closely in the last few episodes you'll see the following gundams make cameo appearences: RX-78-2, GP01 Fb, Wing Gundam, and I think RX-78 NT1. But those gundams make appearences on this series' finale.
9.5/10

I haven't seen Gundam Seed but I am intending on getting the series on DVD, also everyone look out for the Mobile Suit Gundam Zeta and Mobile Suit Gundam Formula 91 which are soon coming out ^__^

[ One of my favorite series of all the recent Gundam series would have to be Gundam Wing simply because not only does it persists an excellent storyline, but the series also features various characters with different objectives and views about the world surrounding them. This was actually the first Gundam series that I had seen and I personally feel that it stands in a class of its own. :flaming: Totally awesome!!

Another Gundam series that has caught my interests is Mobile Fighter G Gundam. Even if this series does not receive the praises of Gundam fans and anime fans alike, it is a "must see" for those who have viewed and enjoyed it. My favorite character from the series is Rain.

Gundam MS 08th Team
My most favorite series. I t is short, sweet, and good all around. The love story in it was captivating. The music was really awesome and well done, and there was plenty of action. The Gundams weren't treated like gods as they were in a sense in Gundam Wing. This series had such a good plot and storyline. It didn't drag on forever and ever like the others did. I enjoyed each and every episode. All tweleve of them were breath taking.

X Gundam
I only saw about fifteen episodes of this, but I like what I have seen so far. It hasa love story brewing, and the main character is so funny. It has a different type of gundam compared to the usual gundam series like Gundam Wing, yet, the Gundams aren't as far fetched as some of them were in G Gundam. There were lots of intense action and a lot of comedy.

Gundam Wing
This was the first gundam series I've ever watched. I've seen the series through about 4 times, and the Endless Waltz about three times. Though the series was great, I enjoyed the movie more. Mainly because there were more action than in the series, and you don't see the usual pattern of:

Relena: "Go ahead and kill me"

Yet, Relena always follows Heero around. What is she, obsessed?

Though, there is one more favorite of mine. Yet the title of it escapes me. All I remember from it is that there is this young boy who has a mother and no father. There is this one Gundam pilot that becomes like a father to him. It is one of the old school Gundam series. So if you can think of the name, it is greatly appreciated.

My favorite is Gundam Wing. It has an in-depth plot with plenty of twists and turns. Plus, it was my first Gundam series, so it'll always have a place in my heart. G Gundam was cool. Plenty of action and fights, as well as a nice love story. It's been a while since I've seen MS 08th Team, but I remember it being really good, with a nice love story and some suspense. SD Gundam is by far the worst. I know it's a parody that's meant for little kids, but geez. It's still bad, even for what it's supposed to be.

Well, I just got my hands on 08th MS Team, and I love it. It kicks total ***! I like how the fact the Gundams weren''t invulnerable, and that the charecters changed throughout the story (All 12...)

My least favourite, besides SD (which I dont consider an Anime, since it was basiclly entirly done in CGI), would be G Gundam, just becouse it was plain dumb... it toally hated it.

Besides that, Gundam Wing is always gona be my absolute favorite, mainly becouse it was the very first Anime (Besides a few DBZ eps) that I ever saw, and it was what got me into Anime. Plus it was just kool, despite the Gundams being invulnerable, it was awsom watching them kick the **** out of an army of Taures, Argo, or even the Serpents from Endless Waltz, which was the best Gundam thing ever. So it takes the spot as my fav.

1) My favorite gundam series is Gundam SEED. I like the storyline for all the gundam series, how the characters were drawn and the voice actors for all the characters in every gundam series I have seen. It is a long series with 50 episodes. Also the battle scene. I would give Gundam SEED a 10 out of 10.

2) My second favorite gundam series is Gundam Wing. It also is a long series with 49 episode. I give it a 10 out of 10.

3)My third favorite gundam series is 8th MS Team. It was short with 12 episode. But in each episode show breath taking action, heart breaking love and devotion to each characters for all the gundam series I have seen. I give it a 10 out of 10.

4)My forth favorite gundam series is Gundam 0083. It was short too with 13 episode. I give it a 10 out of 10.

5)My fifth favorite gundam series is Gundam 0080. It was shot too with 11 episode. (
It was sad when Bernie died in the last episode by Chris who was piloting the gundam. Chris is a girl who was in love with Bernie and he was in love with Chris. But when they fight in the last episode they did not know that they were in the cockipit of their moble suit. Bernie was the bad guy :(.[/spoller] I give it a 10 out of 10.

6)My sixth favorite gundam series is G Gundam. It is a long series too with 50 episode.
I like seeing all the different kinds of gundams form different nations battle in the tournament.
I give it a 10 out of 10.

7)My seventh favorite gundam series is Moble Suit Gundam. It is a long series too that I haven't seen all the episode yet, but it is a preety good series, even though it is the first gundam ever made. I give it a 10 out of 10.

8)My last favorite series is SD Gundam. It was long too and I don't know have many episode are there even though I saw them all. It is a cute series
where all the gundams is little and the animation look weird.
I still like the series. I give it a 10 out of 10.

I gave all the gundam series I saw 10 out of 10 because I though all the gundam series were really good even though some had alot of episodes and some were short. For the short series I wish there was more like Gundam SEED, Gundam Wing, G Gundam, SD Gundam, and Moble Suit Gundam that had 50 episodes and more storyling.

If Lady Katana thought her opinion of Mobile Suit Gundam would generate heat, I'm about to be crucified.

MSG was not only the worst Gundam series I've seen, it was one of the worst anime series I have seen. The characters were two-dimensional, the animation was bad even for the time-period, the philosophies presented were mindless circular debates that all ended in the same conclusion, the plot seemed to be some sadistic quest to torture both characters and viewers as long as possible, and watching it became a daily exercise in masochism.

But, at least it wasn't Blue Gender.

Oh, and I really liked Gundam Wing and 08th MS Team. Good watchin'.

Just Kidding. Yes, I agree with you on SOME of the graphics. The explosions were just... ugh. The dubbing was ok atleast. Plus, the plot was pretty good! I'm just a softie for the anime in the days of old. The older it looks, the more I like (save Speed Racer, I... DON'T... like...it...)

And, you're right, at least it wasn't Blue Gender *shudder*:flush:

As much as i like Gundam Wing, i have to say that Gundam Seed is just a little better in my opinion. I usually always like story line better than character development and Gundam Seed just seemed to have a better story line while G Wing focused more on character development. Sub wise the characters in Seed seemed to have better emotions and the tone of there voices were better picked then in Wing. However, for the dub i couldn't stand the characters in G Seed there voices were annoying as hell....especially Frye's voice. I actually liked the dub more than the sub versioninf G Wing and i think a lot of members would't disagree with me on that one. I also like 08th MS Team (if it was longer i would have been a lot better), but besides these 3 I couldnt stand any of the other Gundam series...especially whatever the one was with the little kid as the main character (sorry i get confused with which Gundam series is which on occasion). Hopefully Gundam Seed Destiny will also be a great series since I heard
every character from Seed is in Destiny including Kira and Lucas
.

True there are
several characters who die but what I meant was like most people believe Kira and Lucas aren't going to be in Destiny but in the cast of characters both of them are shown.
The best Gundam story has got to be Gundam Wing!!! It has a great storyline, even though I loathe two people on the show. (cough* Relena cough* Dorthoy)
The worst of the stories has got to be SD Gundam. The storyline seems really childish, and it is an embarassment to Gundam stories of all kind. But that's just my opinion.

Yeah, I personally don't like SD Gundam as well as many people here, but I direct to the quote on the first page of this thread:
Superior Defender Gundam is a parody. It's meant to make light of the legacy as a whole, so of course it's not going to have all the elements that a Gundam series has. Plus, as it's already been said, it was directed towards a younger audience, so yeah, older Gundam fans may not like it. I personally do, but eh.

I don't consider SD Gundam a 'true' Gundam series so I pretty much kicked that out of the picture.

My most favorite series is 08th MS Team for a variety of reasons. First and foremost, the combat and the mobile suits in there is a lot more realistic without the 'Superman' effect that tends to occur far too often in other Gundam series like Wing and SEED. Second, the characters and their development throughout this short series has quite a bit of depth and realism in it. Lastly, all the elements put together can really make you feel the desperation of the soldiers/pilots, the emotions they felt as they ventured towards death.

Gundam Wing and SEED would be up next. Wing was the first full series I ever saw and I liked it primarily with the plot twists and the mobile suits. The pilots had too much of the 'Superman' effect to really suit me, even though the series added emotional development in somewhat to them. SEED was a bit better in this regard, character-wise. However, I didn't like how the first 20 or so episodes in SEED kinda did a stop-go during that time such as where one episode, we got action, fighting, etc. and suddenly, we go to chracter's dialogues and monologues in the next episode. After the series began to pick up it seemed a lot better.

I don't remember, but someone else in this thread mentioned After War Gundam X, a fairly decent series in my opinion, despite not being released into the mainstream. Of course, the situation is another "boy stumbles into powerful Gundam mobile suit." However, the main character, Garrod Ran, isn't as typical of the boy pilots thrust into battle. Unlike others who get a teary and whiny over fighting *cough* Amuro Ray *cough*, Garrod has a more spunky and tough personality due to living in a war-torn area. The mobile suits and the battles are also similar to Wing in some regards.

Those are my opinions. ^^

Oh,
about seeing Kira and Lacus (sp?)
in SEED Destiny?
They may make an apperance in the series but as characters in general, they're more in the background than previously in SEED. And no, most of the main characters don't die, some do but I'll let you watch and find out.
That's exactly what I was saying.

A parody is a form of literature/film/theatre that makes light of (or makes fun of) something that already exists (Monty Python was a master of such, as "Weird Al" Yankovic is a master of musical parody).

Superior Defender Gundam was created to parody all of the Gundam series to date with it's childish plot and visualizations. Why I said that older Gundam fans (and most Gundam fans in general) might not like it is for that reason.

Frankly, I'd have to agree with Liulubie and Lady Katana here. SD Gundam is not truely a Gundam series, I dont even consider it an Anime, since it is entirly CGI and not in fact an anime... so it can possibly be an actual Gundam series.

My favourite gundam series is... 08th MS Team, probably becouse it was... really really good! The gundams didn't godmode, so they actualy came close to losing... often. Plus I really liked the battles, due to to fact that the guns didn't blow the MS up, simply ripped it to shreds (Which was AWSOM!)

iI absolutly dislike G Gundam. Simple becouse it was... stupid! I mean the other Gundam series had plots and whatnot, that thing was basiclly a giant tourny! Which sucks total ***. I'll admit, the battle scenes were pretty nifty, but that hrdly makes up for the overall crapness of the series.
