Lindus
oh my god. Chapter 54 is unbelievable.
I can't believe that Ling is the new Greed! What's worse (or better however you want to look at it) is that he doesn't even seem to remember being Ling.
That's actually an interesting point, I think. I had just sort of assumed that when a person became a Homunculus, they just gradually forgot. I suppopse I can blame the anime for that--
in the case of Sloth, she gradually forgot who she had been, right?I haven't seen that part of the anime in a while
I never really considered the possibility of the Sins being separate entities that "poSsess" the host bodies. Relating to the anime, Lust seemed to get a sense of her self nearing the end of the series. Assuming that the same thing could happen in the manga,
do you think Ling will be able to overcome Greed? He seemed pretty determined near the end of the chapter so....here's hoping.

Btw, who was secretly hoping that Ling would become the new Lust, rather than the new Greed? I know I was <3
Dagger
A new chapter should be coming out fairly soon, no? Or has it surfaced already?
That's actually an interesting point, I think. I had just sort of assumed that when a person became a Homunculus, they just gradually forgot. I suppopse I can blame the anime for that--
in the case of Sloth, she gradually forgot who she had been, right?I haven't seen that part of the anime in a while

Okay... so my reply is coming four months late, but I figured I ought to answer this anyway, haha. I actually was under the impression that rather than
slowly forgetting who she had been, Sloth was gradually remembering.
I believe that's why it bothered her so much. I like the manga version of FMA. Not as much as some, but I do like it. The comedy doesn't really click with me, for the most part, so I wish there was less of it. I'm sure I'm alone in that, though. I'm glad that it's very different from the anime, since that gives me more of a reason to continue reading it. For some reason, what I don't like about the manga are the manga-only characters. Ling and his posse really get on my nerves. Not to mention that awful panda girl. Gah. *dodges tomatoes* But the plot twist with
Ling becoming Greed
was pretty cool. Personally, I pray that
he doesn't get redeemed or anything, because he's a lot more palatable when he's all possessed and evil. Go kill your comrades, Ling! Wreak havoc! Be your wonderful greedy self!
I swear I'm not this sadistic in real life. Honestly. So... uh, any ideas about the
tattoo on Hawkeye's back?
~Dagger~
Lindus
For some reason, what I don't like about the manga are the manga-only characters. Ling and his posse really get on my nerves. Not to mention that awful panda girl. Gah. *dodges tomatoes*
Ugh. NO. WHY? I found the guys from Xing to be really refreshing. Not that the manga was getting stale at that point
(because, c'mon, Greed), but the sudden appearance of the Xing gang and their aid in the assault on the Sins was fantastic and that part, coupled with the Lust battle, is still my favorite part of the manga, hands down.
Plus, Ling added a good annoyance factor for Ed,
since he and Roy hadn't been seeing too much of each other lately ;) I don't particularly like the panda girl either, but she's not as bad as she could be (a la anime!Roze) and her fantasies of her ideal version of Edward are great.
All right, now that I have that out of my system. XD I don't particularly want to have
Ling "redeemed" either. Aside from Havoc, he's one of my favorite characters, but to have him remain as Greed or be eliminated in some way would be preferable. I'm hoping too that it would elevate Lan Fan's character to something more desirable than it is now.
I need to read the most recent chapter(s) I might be 1,2 behind already. Those months woosh by, don't they? XD
Panda
Not to mention that awful panda girl. Gah. *dodges tomatoes*
I can't believe you don't like Mei. You too Lindus! You guys can't even be bothered to know her name! :animeangr Unless you guys are referring to me as the awful panda girl?! I really like the manga only characters. The whole
new Greed
-ness is very interesting to me.
Tatsubei Yagyu
How could you two not like them?!?!? Ling is like the coolest, and I wish he was in the anime because he'd be awesome animated... But it doesn't matter if you like them! They don't care! Look at the panda!!! It's imitating her! These were fun to do... :babble: I wonder if the anime never hads character's like Winry's parents because they never had official appearances from Arakawa-sensei, which would also explain why Scar's name was never revealed...*wonders in silent* -.- But I'll tell you someone I don't like, the Fuhrer. I thought it was weird he had the same title as Hitler, but seriously... :animedepr

The Fuhrer is Hitler in the world of Full Metal Alchemist, wierd huh? Yet, I though I swore I would never venture here. I don't know why but after seeing the Anime version of Full Metal Alchemist, I some how started to hate it, not the show though. I think I mostly hated some of the things that the fans did. Yeah you know what I am talking about. But somehow I got dragged into the manga, and for some odd reason (not the reason that it is still ongoing) I took to it a lot better than I did the Anime. Admist all the other changes in characters and whatnot. I think that so far I am up to chapter 60 (And when I say that I mean I just started that chapted and went on many sites to read summaries on what has happend thus far, yeah I am that lazy) and I have found it rather intresting, espically with the whole.
Being able to turn a living human into a Hommuncli as with Greed and Wrath.
However one thing that I have always wondered in the series is that if there were the 7 deadly sins, Why havent the 7 virtues (Chasity, Abstinence, Generosity, Zeal, Patience ,Kindness, and Humility. Or some other kind of Synonnom of those words) Made an appearance yet. It just seems logical to me that if the sins are there than why arn't the Virtues Well that and also wondering how in the world
Rentan Jutsu
is done, but besides that yeah. This series is intresting..

Sangome
Wah. D: Dagger made me cry. T_T ((Well, not really, but yeah)) ANd I agree with Panda, I love Mei-chan. I think she's adorable! And Ran Fan kicks complete and total bee-hind. Admit it. D< Not to mention, some of the anime-only charcters suck. *coughDantecough* :animeangr In any case, I do like the FMA manga, I really do. But, like Dagger, just not as much as others. I like how when
Truth takes people apart,
namely Ed and Al,
how they look like tiny bicks as they're being torn. Not to sound morbid, but I think it's a unique concept. It shows, to me, that humans in the Gate can be easily decomposed.
Not to mention, it's refereshing after seeing Elfen Lied and limbs being torn the old fashion way there. :animedepr Anyway, FMA is like the only manga I buy now, but mainly by the time I'me able to get out of this house AND have money, the newest volume is out. x__x @Ikillion - ...What, what DID we do? if its' the fangirls having orgasms over Edward, I just ignore them. I love that show Edward is so hot <3 Fangirl1: Cool! do you want to write erotic Yaoi fanfictions of Ed an Al? Fangirl2: Sure! Me somewhere, probaly reading a book: I think my mind was just raped... I'm just surprised that you've found so much of it in the FMA fandom. I've never encountered that before. The FMA LJ communities are all pretty cool. Mostly we laugh over random crack people will come up with. :3 The main problem I have with the FMA fandom is snootiness. Basically I think LJ communities rock over all other ones. v_v Also, RoyEd seems to be more prominent, lol. I heard Arakawa hates RoyEd, though. XD P.S. OT, but incestuous pairings are just hilarious to me. The ItaSasu fandom in Naruto makes absolutely no sense. Someone will be giving a great back-up to like Team 7 OT3 and then it's like "omg ItaSasu!...because...they are brothers...! :D" Everyone else: huh.

Whenever I look around in the FMA manga communities they say stuff like "whenever Arakawa sees a yaoi story she writes more het" and stuff, and people throw it out there, so I'm not sure. It's very possible, though. The FMA manga makes me like Ed/Winry more, since the anime never really had a chance to flesh it out. RoyEd, to me, is a pairing enjoyed for fangirl purposes only. Anything I see about them usually has to be funny or light-hearted, because I don't take them seriously. I also support Royai because it's the canon and I enjoy it by itself. :3 FMA, both manga and anime, has always been very canon-powered for me. The fandom itself doesn't do much to propel my interest, although I still like it.

I know I'm not the first to say that I feel the relationship between Ed and Roy is more of a leader-subordinate type thing. I could even go as far as to say that Roy is more like a father-figure to Ed, since Ed's father was never around. ((WAH! I'm sorry Hohenheim. T___T)) Which makes me wonder what it would be like if the two discussed the subject of Ed... This may suffice, though. XD But anyway, the concept of Arakawa writing more het due to the fangirls doesn't surprise me, if it were true. Though part of me feels she wouldn't care...she's rolling in the money, anyway. XD I don't take it seriously either, however, I've seen alot of RoyEd fanart that's...borderline pornographic. Like Ikillion, my mind has been raped on numerous occasions, no thanks to that. The Spectacular Professor
I find it quite hard to believe no one else has read this in over a year, especially since it's an ongoing series. Anyway, I think Arakawa is approaching the endgame. Reasons (MASSIVE SPOILERS DO NOT READ UNLESS YOU HAVE READ CHAPTER 77. THIS MEANS YOU, ANIME WATCHERS! IT'S NOT THE SAME STORY!
-All the homunculus have been revealed. (Selim Bradley is Pride, Ling is the new Greed.) -Hohenhiem's big secret and the origin of "Father" have been revealed. -The Elrics have rescued Winry from the government's grasp. -Al's body is starting to call him back, meaning there's little time left. -Winry and Ed is more or less canon now. -"Father" is setting something up big with five chosen alchemists (although the fifth isn't decided yet.) -There's only one point on the giant pentagram left. -Finally, there's not much left to reveal.
Anyone else think so? I personally think the ending is shaping up to be amazing.
Alucard
I alucard force this thread from its grave to rise! *Chants necro-rise spell* So what's the deal, we all Naruto and Bleach fans here? The Spectacular Professor
So what's the deal, we all Naruto and Bleach fans here?
Nah, not so much with Naruto. It's okay, but it's been weak enough for a while that we tend slam Kishimoto more than go "Oh, cool. More Sharingan." As for Bleach, I'm not sure since I haven't read it. Most of the folks 'round here are actually watching some of the less mainstream stuff, like Lucky Star or Gankutsuou. Anyway, yeah, I love this series. This and One Piece are my two main ongoing series right now. It's a pity that not so many people read the manga. As far as I'm concerned, the story is infinitely superior to the anime. Plus this had Olivia Milla Armstrong, which is like 20 trillion coolness points alone.
Magus
I agree with Aceburner, in terms of Naruto's latest chapters being weak. (I'm tempted to drop the series as a whole.) Bleach on the other hand... As long as Ulquiorra is roaming about, I think I'll stick with it. Actually, manga in general, I've been trying to branch out a little bit. Recently finished reading Basilisk. (great series) Now as far as FMA goes, I think I've read only one chapter, and I'm not knockin the manga, or anything, but I think I've had my fill with the anime. Sure, there's a lot missing and whatnot, but I can only put up with Ed and Al so much. (I don't like either one.)
Alucard
Oh im not nocking naruto or bleach. I enjoy both series quite a bit, I just feel FMA is a better series (horses for courses). I like how FMA uses a wider variety of characters to work together to form the plot while most other shonen series usually forget anyone outside of the main character circle. Oh and I love the art style of FMA, its nice although I admit the backgrounds suck quite a bit. Hopefully we can get a discussion going on this manga and find more people like this series. Aceburner: I may have to try One Piece, everyone rates it so highly but I have always avoided it due to its very distinct art style.

The Spectacular Professor
Interesting how I bump this right when we see the
real reason Greed is still alive. It's so Mustang gets a chance to avenge Hughes. This is going to be great. Pissed off Roy dishing out some mega comeuppance for one of the most tearful deaths in anime history. Cannot wait. Pride is becoming one of the creepiest little bastards to grace the pages of anything I've read recently thanks to his recent habit of eating his subordinates. I'll bet that'll be is downfall. eleanor
What the hell, why did I ever stop reading this? I suddenly got the urge to read it again and downloaded all the chapters released so far. The first time I "started" reading this I picked it up somewhere in the middle thinking my knowledge from the anime would tide me over- except I realize now that was a mistake. So I started over from the beginning and it's a **** lot better than the books I've been trying to read lately, lol. 1. FMA manga >>>>>>>>>>>>>> 1st FMA anime. And I love the FMA anime, but reading the manga made me realize how rushed and not fleshed out the anime story is. Too bad the 2nd anime series is also disappointing me. 2. Nice to have a story with great art style and reliance on strength of character development and well-planned/paced/execued plot, something anime/manga in general lacks severely. Sucks that each chapter comes out monthly, otherwise I think the FMA manga community on the internet would be bigger. 3. Major love for Armstrong and all the kickass female characters. :) World needs more awesome female writers. 4. Suddenly the mere thought of FMA yaoi has been completely blown away, because Ed/Winry and Roy/Riza are A+++.
