Anna
Well, no one is always one or the other. I myself am.... I guess generally an optimist. I've had to learn to become that way though, as I used to have clinical depression (chemical imbalance). Every so often, everyone gets depressed for one reason or another. The important part is learning to pull yourself up again, unless you like living in a confused gulf of self-imposed misery. Personally, it got old for me after a while... BabyGirl
You know, a lot of depression is a mind-set...and saying that you have a clinical diagnosis when you don't is no excuse (that's not directed towards you Anna, I'm just saying that in general :)...) If you set your mind the right way, to thinking about the better things, then you won't be so unhappy. Argue with me all you want...I know I have it coming :babble: I just can't stand it when people wallow in their own self pity. Such a waste of life...
Sui Generis
Its not that I am wallowing in self-pity...just not having a good month...I am pulling myself outta it yay!!! Oh well..I think that I am mostly optimistic..with an occasional spell of depression..

That's what I like to hear :excited: It's only natural for a human being to have a bad day or week or whatever. As long as they don't use that as their excuse to be unhappy and frowning and unpleasant and disagréable...well ah you get my point :) (And I'm not speaking sans experience...I used to be really depressed and crap...took me a while to realize that most of it was in my head.)
Sui Generis
Yeah..I did the self-pity thing for a while...then my best friend did it...and I realized how un-attactive it is...and how it totally ruins everyone elses day...

Lady Macaiodh
i go back & forth. i can't really help it. it's a chemical thing. but i've learned to deal w/ my depression, & it doesn't really bother me anymore. chronic depression is like living in a dark house... after awhile, you learn to find your way around w/out bumping in to anything. PiroMunkie
I'm generally a "happy" person, most all of the time. Tired the rest of it, people often confuse lack of sleep with depression, lol (they always think I'm high too). Though when I get depressed, I really get depressed. It's a complete 180 of my normal self. It's not a very good time for me then, but I eventually gert over it in about an hour or so, lol. :D

Stormbringer
I couldn't be happier. I have a girlfriend that I'm totally in love with. School is going well, life is pretty great for me. Except Calculus, but I've given up on caring about it. I'm no good at math, so I'm done with it after this semester. That and the fact that I have NO IDEA what I want to do with my life, but oh well. I'll figure something out. All I know is that I love my girlfriend very much. To me, I don't need much more than that.

Guest Akito
I'm always inbetween. I can be happy one minute, and depressed the next. It's not that i have problems, it's just that I'm really easy to get pissed off, or sad, or any other state.
Lady Macaiodh
doesn't it suck how it seems that you're happiest when you're in love... & how often does that happen? it's like you can be completely depressed, & the one you love will finally return your affections, & your outlook does a complete 180. And U know what, the other guy, THE DRUNK GUY, came out without a scratch, and that (u know what i want to say) is only gettin like 20 years, but the parents attorneys say that he'll probably only serve 5 of the 20!
Thats why I'm normally against the government, they dun give if their guys are corrupt or not, if they are caught, then they are like "Gee, we didn't know this was happening" But get this, the US government acts like we have the toughest penelties on drunk drivers in the world, in some countries, ur first offense is ur last, ur marched right up to a shooting squad(I wish they did that here, some of these idiots don't learn by goin to court, or taking classes). Besides, I know she's with me, but, i mean, come on, finding someone who understands u 100%, and u actually find u understand that person 100% is a very very very rare occasion! And I've been a bit more depressed latly cause I know I'll probably never find someone like that again in my life, and 99.9% isn't exactly reassuring to me. Guest Akito
Anyways, back to the topic, yeah, i'm pretty depressed alot of times, and I get very emotional bout some things. In movies, when someone dies, or marries, i cry. I've personally never been to a furnral, and dun plan on goin to one anytime soon(hopefully none of my friends plan to be going to one either if ya know what i mean). But, the way I see it, if u show ur depressed, happy, sad, etc... Ur ok, ur normal, u show u have feelings, and aren't afriad to show them. Why, in school last year, when i saw Saving Private Ryan, I cried at the end. I mean, it's like, from real life, the char tom hanks played was real, he probably did die, and he probably saved the guy he was looking for. But, i see nothing wrong with showing ur feelings.(10 bucks says someones starin at me sayin "Gendo has emotions!?!?!?!?!?!?")
