[I]The mage walked across the sterile, inhospitiable wasteland. The scorched white sand that bit like scouring dust when it was windy and the pale blue sky above were all that could be seen. This was the world after the cataclysm. But the question remained: What exactly was the cataclysm? When did it occur? What caused it to occur?

On the desolate remnants of the world lay a few scattered havens, known as Cradles, where the last of humanity lay. Many cradles were under the rule of the Temple of Kyros, which was a group of clerics that had broken off from the heathen Mages of old. The Temples preached about a great cataclysm that happened many thousands of years ago. They said that mankind had taken the power of the gods from the creators, and they were destroyed because of it, for they could not harness the pure power of the gods. For their insolence, mankind was cast out of the eyes of the gods, and their world was turned into the barren desert that it remains.

However, one man, a cleric known as Arctherias Kyros, was able to create a few havens for mankind to remain, but they lived under fear, for the gods could strike them down at any moment. The world moved on, and mankind slowly built itself up, constantly living under the fear of the gods. The people working under the Temple of Kyros began to drift away from the Mages Guild where Arctherius had originated, and eventually cast them out, claiming them to be heathens who defyed the will of the gods. The mages resisted, saying that Arctherius was himself a mage, but the Temple said that Kyros had conversed with the gods, and that mankind would eventually be saved if they casted out the Mages. Their reasoning was that the needs of humanity outweighed the needs of the mages, and they were outcast.

The people living under the Temple of Kyros' rule lived peacefully, but with a certain sense that something was wrong. A few people began to question the temple doctirine, saying that the mages were unjustly cast out and that Arctherius, being the last survivor of the great cataclysm, should make the truth behind the vauge at best writings of the cataclysm. Eventually, when the temple remained silent, a faction broke out from the Temple of Kyros, initiating full-out rebellion in the cradles where they had the most influence. They were called the Talon Faction. The mages, still scornful of the Temple's unjust judgement, began to back the Talons in their fight to bring the truth to the people. The temple cast them out, using their own mages to throw the Talons to the farthest corners of the planet, where the Mages had been put.

However, that was not the end of it...

The mages slowly built up their forces, allying with the Talon outcasts to make a final attempt at finding out the mysteries behind the Temple of Kyros. They live on a far corner of the desert, far away from any cradle, but they have survived, thanks in no small part to the arcana they are capable of using. They live in the subterranian city of Thalos, and they have almost amassed enough forces to finally assault the cradle where the last remnants of the world before lay...

Arcana: Life/Fire

Appearance: Arctherius looks ancient, older than anything on the planet. His eyes are pure silver, and he has black, arcane tattoos covering his chiseled, ancient face. Surprisigly, he is rather strong and fortified, despite being over a thousand years old. He wears red robes with white lining and a black belt. He also has long fingernails that almost look like claws.
He stands around 6'8" when he is not sitting or hunched over. He is completely bald and very pale, for he locks himself in his chambers for months at a time. His eyes prodominantly remain half-open or closed. He keeps his Vanguard pike slung over his shoulder when he walks.

Bio: Arctherius is the last remaining survivor of the 'Great Cataclysm', but he has never spoken of it, not even to his highest attendants. He is reclusive, never leaving the temple where he resides. He is quiet, not usually talking to anyone spare his attendants. He also never lets anyone touch him, and no one ha ever seen his face.

Bio: Celia has always been tormented by her so called friends. They treated her like an item rather than a person. Even her parents treated her this way but, instead of doing anything about it she just left things as they were. One day though she snapped and went into a dark side of her that laied dorment. Without knowing what she was doing she killed her mother and her three brothers. Celia was then banshed by her father and sent across the desert to join the already banashed group. She joined the Talon Faction and was quickly ecpected. She keep her reasons of banshiment to herself. Her second week in the socity she made that mistake of touching Kyros by mistake, what happened after that was kept sercet yet, Celia felt close to the temple leader though keep to herself.

Name: Fayth Leinier
Faction: Mage Faction
Weapon: A steel staff. It has a steel body, with a piece of oak wood, swirling up all the way to the top of the gem. Everything on this staff is black, except the gem at the top, which is silver. Well, it's not really a gem, it's more like an orb.
Arcana: Fire, Air
Appearance: Fayth is a little different then a regular mage, he doesn't really wear the uh, 'robe' that you see most mages wear. He dresses in a Navy blue shirt, as the top of his costume. The bottom part of his costume is a dark green robe bottom that kind of parts, which looks like it is made of dragon's skin. Then, he wears a cape, which is pure black. Nothing but black silk is in his cape. The gem that holds it at its place is a red flat circular gem.
Fayth, also has a couple of other 'characteristics'. One of them is a huge gash that goes over his left eye. He can still see out of it, for the scar was created by magic. The scar looks a little like a cresent moon. To some people, it looks creepy, to some others, it looks pretty cool. In fact, it kind is something he uses to drag in girls. ;)
Bio: Fayth, like all the other mages started with the mage faction. He was born there, which would only make him about, around 17 maybe? Well anyway, while growing up, he was taught the ways of spiritual balance by his father, so that he could have complete control over his powers. He meditated every day, so that his powers would be at a great balance. At the age of ten, he was starting to learn one of his Arcana powers. He was learning the way of fire Arcana. It was hard enough for him to control this power alone. He did experiments with fire, to see what would be the best use of it.
Later, after three years, his air Arcana power was awakened. This made Fayth feel too powerful. Almost too powerful to control. So he was given his staff, to harness his powers through. Not only did this staff allow him to channel his powers through, but when he used the power of Arcana with it, it would increased the spell's power. This had become a great tool for Fayth to use. Fayth has many deadly attacks. One of such, is his great staff spin. He will start to spin his staff, until it is at the right speed, then launch it. Using his wind powers, he would control the direction it would go. It doesn't spin fast enough to cut through skin, but will leave a lot of broken bones and bruises if you are hit by it. As a backup technique, he will use his fire powers to protect himself.

Well, there you go. I will be looking forward to this, Eliwood. I think that you might know the reason.

Weapon: An abnormally large longsword that he weilds as one of the holy paladins of the temple. It has had runes carved into the blade but these have weakened the steel blade yet has been enchanted by the clerics.

Bio: Whitesong is a young Paladin aspirant who is twenty two at the moment and is the latest to be taken into the temple as a holy warrior. He had a rather unremarkable childhood. When he met a wandering minstral at the local festival who told him off the holy warriors of the gods he was inspired by these tales and travled over half the continent to become a Paladin.

He was taken in at the age of 15 and raised by Curate Winefiddle who treated him like a son if not as an equal. Over the past 2 years, He was taught how to use clerical magic by one of the senior clerics by the name of Anton where he accomplished his magicial training and is now awaiting to take the tests of Paladinhood.

Very good, everyone. I might be starting up this RP if no one else will sign up, but I'm going to wait a bit for any more signups. However, thanks Daermon and Bloody_Moon for changing that, the whole thing with Arctherius will play into the story later. Also, sorry if I seemed a bit nitpicky or whiny with that last post, but thanks for humoring me. Well, signups are really good so far, and I'm really hoping to get this RP off the ground for once. Appearance: "Sir" is a tall man of about 6'5". He is renowned for his hunting skills, and he is well praised. His mastery over air arcana makes him quick, and his reflexes are astounding. He reacts quickly, using a strange style of Dagger fighting. He can kill many enemies, but against isolated enemies he is very much reduced in power. He has a cursed scar over his left cheek.
Bio: Zirmas had a family, a life, some adventures, but it was taken from him by the vengeful god Arturos. He is now cursed to live outside the sanctuaries, as the healing power that created them slowly kills him. He dedicated his life to hunting magical beasts and all things associated with the Gods. Often called a "Temple-Hunter", he desecrates all things divine. His life is dedicated to destruction, and he laments his own existence. He longs for a simpler life, but he remains out of contact with humans.
