Anime/Manga pairings least likely to succeed

I was original thinking of titling this thread anime couples most likely to wind up on Jerry Springer, but that looked a bit too long.

Moving on, I'm wondering which anime (or manga) couples you think just wouldn't last. Please remember to give reasons and not just list people. Not only is it boring to the other readers, it's also spam (what exactly is that stuff made of anyways?)

As for myself:

Momo Adachi and Toji Kuzuya (something like that) from Peach Girl- Sure, she had a crush on him for a long time and they did try to go out a few times throughout the series. But look at the number of times
Toji broke up with MOmo because of things that Sae had said without even listening to Momo's side of the story.
I don't know about the rest of you , but that doesn't seem like grounds for a very strong relationship since you need trust for a good relationship and in the beginning there wasn't any becuase Toji would rather believe someone besides his girlfriend.

Sesshomaru and Rin from InuYasha- You don't have to look too hard on fanfiction websites to find this pairing which I think is rather frightening. To me I feel that Sesshomaru sees Rin and a daughter not someone he'll have romantic feelings for later on in life. He doesn't really strike me as a Woody Allen personality marrying a younger woman. Besides, it's just creepy. Okay, I know I mentioned that already but how often do people really wind up with the kid they raised and not end up on Jerry Springer?

There's two from me for the time being just to get the whole subject started. I'll add more later

LeaderShugo, please try and add more detail to your posts in future- threads like this always tend to be on tenuous ground and having short, undetailed replies don't really help. Not to mention it makes things more interesting for everyone else to read.

I personally think that Asuka and Shinji from Evangelion make a bad pairing, if only because Asuka's far too demanding/awkward and Shinji's just doesn't do anything about it. And even though they spend a lot of time together and fight their battles side-by-side I don't think he's actually attracted to in any deeper form other than she is female and he is male. Neither of them seem to want to open up to their deeper feelings- if Shinji confronted them he'd only want to run away, and if Aska did Shinji probably wouldn't know what to say anyway. It's a comedy of tragic chacters, I guess ^_^; Not that I didn't like Evangelion, but when you isolate the characters from the context it just seems... silly.

And I'm ignoring the movies >.>

In Digimon, I don't like the Davis and Kari pairing idea, primarily because I don't like Davis. It is mean that everyone else seems to enjoy taking advantage of his lack of brain cells, but it's his own fault really... somehow. I think TK knows and understands Kari far more than Davis ever would anyway, and that's a better basis for a relationship.

Meow... what a topic!

Rekka no Honou's (sp?) Fuuko and Domon is one awkward pairing. I've a feeling they'd killl each other off if ever they got into a major fight (or maybe Domon'll just concede, seeing that he's definitely the one who's putting more effort into the relationship). Not enough love is circulating between the two characters.(Note: I haven't read the manga. Completely basing my opinion from the anime series.)

Love and Peace!

Hum... I seem to be relativly accepting of most anime couples, but there are a few I didn't care for or didn't think would work out too well.

The first is Matt and Sora from Digimon. I don't know, I really think Sora should have been with Tai instead. They just seemed to go so well together :(

Another one I don't think would work out too well is Aoshi and Misao from Ruruoni Kenshin. Don't get me wrong, I think they're really cute together, but Aoshi just seems to be such a loner that he wouldn't really give poor Misao the time of day.

Well that's it for me!
The first is Matt and Sora[/b'] from Digimon. I don't know, I really think Sora should have been with Tai instead. They just seemed to go so well together :(
Now that was originally going to be my first choice, but after thinking about it for a few minutes (yes, that long >.>) I don't think Matt and Sora are to bad a couple. I'd prefer Tai and Sora to be together, because on the whole I prefer Tai and his interaction with Sora- I wondered if, like in one of the Christmas episodes that Sora was just infatuated with Matt because he's becoming a rock star. But that's all speculation, and really too far out of the series' parameters, heh ^_^;

Speaking of Digimon, I dislike the inferred relationship that people connect between Renamon and Impmon and Veemon and Gatomon. I like Renamon too much and don't like Veemon's character enough for those to work, heh. Needless to say, I read very few fanfics as a result of my own specific views on the characters and what they should be like and do. I'd get too angry at the pairings, too >.>

Clef and Umi in Magic Knight Rayearth annoys me, too. Clef is hundreds of years old and the size of a small boy- I'd have thought he'd be too intelligent to fall for Umi. I'm not saying that Umi isn't a good character, but putting the characters on their own just seems wrong. Ascott likes Umi far more anyway, and
Sierra fancies Clef
anyway. Since everyone else in the series was methodically paired off with their female equivalent (except Alcyone), I thought it would make more sense to just puch the other loose ends together. But meh, perhaps that's too formulaic. After all, it's not very original to have every character falling in love with another one, unless you're going for an anime Dawson's Creek.

Yeah, I know everyone thinks that Kagome and InuYasha are such a great couple, but can you see them together, seriously? All they do is argue and Kagome is rather bossy. Besides, sonce InuYasha is always protecting her, I'm rather convinced that soon, he is going to die. Besides that, he is still rather in love with Kikyo (it's been fifty years and he's still madly in love with her). No, there is no positive future for InuYasha and Kagome.Oh yes, and I agree with Solo Tremaine. If I wanted to watch a lot of romance, I would watch something on teh local channels or pick up a romance novel.

ok Inuyasha and Kagome have a perfect relationship. She loves him with all her heart. Now Kikiyo can be aroad block but Inu and Kagome are perfect for each other. I wonder who will Fluffy be with.

Well it's not as though there aren't plenty of great romantic anime--for me, Maison Ikkoku is always the first that comes to mind. What I generally don't like is gratuitous romance, which can unfortunately be found in most otherwise decent shounen action anime. On that subject, I have mixed feelings about a lot of the potential pairings in Rurouni Kenshin; Misao/Aoshi is probably the only couple I whole-heartedly support. I'm not at all a fan of Kaoru, so I have a hard time liking the idea of her with Kenshin.

Ilovefluffy, please try to keep an eye on your post quality.

:glasses: :genius: First, there's Dita and Hibiki from Vandread. The relationship just seemed to be slapped in there for the hell of it, when a far more suitable relationship would have been with Meia (who seemed like she was in the running, for a minute there; they actually talked) or even with Jura (I know, part of the charm of the series was the innocent innuendo, but Jura was the least innocent-seeming of all and if I had been in Hibiki's shoes...)

Then, if any of you have seen Naruto...I've only seen a few episodes, and fan-sub at that, but that chick (I think her name might be Sakura) should just stay away from both Naruto and that other guy (Saki? I don't remember). This series, to the point where I watched it anyhow, seems to do better without the romance angle...sigh. I'm sure there's someone who disagrees (and maybe they even know the characters names!) :genius:

Well, that's my two cents worth...

The chick is Sakura and Sasuke is the guy... but yea I agree she wouldn't work with either of them. She's to much of a jerk to like Naruto, so why the flip does he like her when she can't stand him and while Hinata is nice and is one of the only people who is actually nice to him... *ahem* anyways then I must agree that Davis and Kari is an awful ship. It always irked me when I was little watching Digimon to see them together even if Davis did like her she was only pretending to like him just to tease TK... you can't really have a good relation ship when one of the people is only dating the other one to tease her friend.

There are way more and I'd post some ships I feel are bad too instead of just replying to what people are saying but it's late and I must be getting to bed... I'll try and edit this later... (and revise my spelling/grammar)

Kurapica x Neon (from Hunter x Hunter) is, without a doubt, one of the most unpalatable couples I've ever come across. Thank goodness they're only stuck together in fanfiction--HxH has far more hints for the various shounen-ai pairings one can wrangle out of the series than it does for Kurapica and Neon. Even Kurapica and Hisoka (not to mention Kurapica and Senritsu!) have more chemistry, for heaven's sake, and that's just pathetic.

Neon collects
the preserved eyes of Kurapica's dead relatives.
Sorry, but any relationship built on such a macabre foundation isn't something I want to read about or watch. Moreover, she's boring, spoiled, prone to hysteria and astonishingly selfish. I cannot imagine Kurapica having an interest in her as anything other than his employer.

Perhaps the relative popularity of this couple in the HxH fandom can be explained by the fact that the show just doesn't have that many recurring female characters. Nevertheless, the women who do have significant roles--including
Machi, Killua's sister
and Biske--are all about a thousand times more attractive, sensible and likeable than Neon.

Yes? :modrod:

Ahem...

Anyway another anime pairing that I just can't see working out (No matter how much I'd like it to) is Tasuki and Miaka from Fushigi Yugi This is so for a few good reasons. The first and most obvious is how Miaka is so head over heels in love with Tamahome-even though
she was willing to give him up because Yui loved him too. Miaka was even willing to let Tamahome kill her when he was possessed by that stuff Nakago had Yui give him.
Hell, their love was enough to not just cure things, but make viewers of the series sick and potentially give them cavities. Second is that Tasuke through the majority of the series is countinously mentioning how much he hates girls. And at times he's such an obnoxious pest (and a bit of a drunk) that I don't even think easy going Miaka could put up with him.

And to continue with the FY theme I'd have to say Nakago and Soi as well. Nothing against Soi (except that she has this joy of killing thing going for her) I just don't think Nakago is very capable of loving anyone or anything since he's so damn manipulative. I do find Soi's love for him touching, but Nakago just uses her for pleasure and to get his energy back up. Come to think of it...I don't think I could picture Nakago with anyone save Masao from Mars since they're both so violent.

So there you have it, two more couples I can't wait to see on Jerry (especially the Soi Nakago one)
